The crowd |
The rain soaked overflow |
Obama, speaking to an energized throng of 18,000 people in an at-times-rainy outdoor amphitheater, made a point of renewing his pledge to create a million manufacturing jobs as he campaigned in a state whose manufacturing industry has been hard hit in recent years.
With just six weekends left before Election Day, both candidates were devoting considerable time to raising cash to continue bankrolling the deluge of ads already saturating hotly contested states.
Baseball great Hank Aaron supplied the star power at Obama’s Milwaukee fundraisers.
“As one who wore the number 44 on his back for decades, I ask you to join me in helping the 44th president of the United States hit a grand slam,” Aaron said.
I know that Hank Aaron is much beloved, but you KNOW 18,000 people did stand in the rain just to see him.
Obama 2012!

ReplyDeleteGryphen,
I think you might be interested in what this blogger has to say. http://inchatatime.blogspot.com/2011/03/its-evangelicals-vs-jesus.html
You got an extra 0 there in the headline Grph.,
ReplyDeleteI bet none of those 18,000 people who came to see The Pres were bussed in from businesses and churches that MADE them come in the hear him speak, as we've heard has happened on more than one occasion this week with the Mittens.
Obama has his mojo going on.. Richie and Bitchie Rich...not so much.
ReplyDeleteThe first sentence of this Romney event article is hilarious!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.jsonline.com/news/statepolitics/gop-rally-in-elkhorn-to-move-indoors-c66v6ov-170823766.html
Over 200 people attended!
To be clear, I meant to say it was Tagg Romney speaking. Just occurred to me - Mitt names his kids like SP does.
Deleteanon 11:32: yes, he does but at least sarah's child, trick or track whatever his name is, is in the military. although i understand it was join the military or go to jail. which was it? mitt's boys, those spoiled brats, never work a day in their lives...kinda like their mother!
DeleteTheir desperation means they have to shade the truth just to keep up appearances. So sad. lol
Delete@10:40..I was just about to comment on a Romney rally from yesterday that garnered a whole 650 people...yours is even better! Gosh, Sarah drew more people than that at her Christian women's speeches...poor Mitt. You people just don't appreciate the magic that is Mitt. Or, maybe, Ann, we do. And we aren't buying.
ReplyDeleteNo comments are necessary, just look at the pictures. Hey Sarah, eat your heart out. You want him don't you? Too bad, he is only attracted to HUMANS.
ReplyDeleteWhat's this Sarah obsession? Why does she have to be mentioned in every thread?
DeleteAnon 12:30 PM
DeleteSarah who?
Anonymous12:30 PM
DeleteAre you referring to that old bag of bones that has never even met the president, yet still lies and constantly makes up shit about him and his family?
Is THAT the Sarah that you defend with every waking moment while your body still has a breath left in it?
And did you say the word "OBSESSION"?
You and your hypocritical role model deserve all of the scorn and ridicule you receive times 10, but we take it easy on you because we are better people than your grifting, selfish, hate-filled fake best friends.
Wow...just wow.
ReplyDeleteI've not had the privilege of seeing our president at a rally or speaking engagement, but I did get to witness Bill Clinton in 1992 at a rally in Las Vegas Nevada. He had the crowd eating out of the palm of his hand! I'll never forget the electricity that ran through the crowd as if we were witnessing 'something'..
ReplyDeleteI'd do anything I could do to see the president if he came to my city now. But until then, I'll still volunteer to help my neighbors get their voter IDs ready and make sure the young people in my community are registered to vote. People, it's that important.

I'm tired of hearing hard work will pay off, no that's Bullshit! Voting for Obama will pay off when he provides equality for all..I pledge my allegiance to him
ReplyDeleteChill....just as "practice makes perfect only if the practice is perfect." Hard work ONLY pays off if you are working hard for the RIGHT things such as equality and justice for all. Vote Obama!

ReplyDeleteDavid Brooks: Mitt Romney Is 'The Least Popular Candidate In History' (VIDEO)
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/social/elfish/david-brooks-mitt-romney_n_1907400_190082759.html
Mitt Romney was governor of Massachusetts from 2002 through 2006. So Massachuesettians know him best. This is what they think :
1. OBAMA HAS HUGE LEAD IN MASS. Romney Trails Obama by 28% in Mass.
2. LOWEST APPROVAL IN MASS. HISTORY. Romney left office with the lowest approval rating in state Read More...
He was elected by a 5% margin and had a 66% approval rating after he was elected. And it wasn't because he was a Republican. Massachusetts had elected three Republicans Governors before Romney. All of those Republican left office with high approval ratings. In fact, William Weld was elected twice in 1990 and 1994 and left office after two terms with 70% approval rating, the highest in state history.
Why did the voters sour on Romney so quickly? Look at his record:
3. JOB CREATION FELL. Job creation fell from 37th to 47th during Romney's term.
1998-2002 = 37th
2002-2006 = 47th
A drop of 10 places in four years.
During his 4 year term, Romney only increased the number of jobs by 1% compared to 5% for the nation
4. THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE WORKING DECLINED. Between 2002-2006, the number of people working in Mass declined by 8,500, the only state to lose jobs. The rest of the country added 8 million jobs.
5. LOST MANUFACTURING JOBS. Romney lost 14% of the manufacturing jobs in the state, including 40,000 high paying manufacturing jobs.
6. PEOPLE LEFT MASS TO FIND WORK ELSEWHERE. A net 222,000 people moved out of Mass to seek employment else where, a loss of 3.5% of the work force.
Romney brags that unemployment dropped, but that's because the unemployed had moved out of the state.
7. WAGES DROPPED. Between 2002-2004, wages dropped 5%. Between 2002-2006, the median wage fell by $10 or 2%.
8. SHIPPED STATE JOBS OVERSEAS. Romney vetoed legislation that would have prohibited sending State jobs overseas and bared state contractors from sending jobs overseas. He even sent State Call Center Jobs overseas.
9. INCREASED DEBT. Romney had the largest increase in debt of any Governor in the country, increasing it by more than $2.6 billion. He even borrowed money to pay for ordinary operating costs such as highway repair and maintenence.
10. INCREASED GOVERNMENT COST FALL ON MIDDLE CLASS. Romney cuts taxes for the wealthy, while increasing hundreds of fees that fall mainly on the middle class.

Huge movement for Obama in Gallup today!
ReplyDeleteYesterday he was at 47/46 approval and was tied with Romney at 47.
The approval rating moved drastically yesterday. It's now 51/43! There was a smaller movement in the horserace, but Obama gained 1 and Romney lost a point making it 48-46.
That's a 7 day poll so it makes sense it would move slower than the 3 day poll. Here's hoping the approval is a sign that Gallup is catching up.

Mitt already has the Asshole of the Year award wrapped up. But he won't appear at the Emmys and accept the award unless they let him bring in several busloads of his paid empl-, er, I mean, fans and supporters.
DeleteVery, very OT - pictures of a 6-months-pregnant bikini model, Raffaella Fico, on the catwalk.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/09/22/raffaella-fico-model-pregnant-bikini-photos-pictures-fashion-week_n_1905917.html
Even if Fico was close to being 7-months pregnant, this shows the absurdity of Palin's 'pregnancy'.
Since Sarah recently called for a 'come to Jesus moment,' I can't help but wish that she and Todd will have just such a moment of their own...soon.
I predict the largest landslide victory for Obama in history. The Republicans I know are planning on staying home; they can't bring themselves to vote for Romney but won't vote for Obama. This works out great for the other democrats running on the ballots---Could we see a majority in the House, Senate and the White House?
ReplyDeleteTrue story. I'm friends with a woman who is friendly with another couple. The wife is conservative but not overly. The husband, however, is to the right of Ivan the Terrible. He's been very successful in business - one of the top 2%, if not 1%. He told my friend that he is either not going to vote or vote for Obama because he's had business dealings with Romney at Bain and found him totally dishonest and disingenious.
DeleteAnd that's from a rabid conservative who knows him.
THe only way President Obama will be reelected let alone by a landslide is if we all VOTE and make sure everyone we know votes.
DeletePlease volunteer to be a poll watcher at your precinct, and/or volunteer to drive people to their local polling place. It is us against the money, Bush's little turd, and the Rmoneybott. :)
OBAMANOS vote early!
DeleteWow..This is awsome seeing all those people..
ReplyDeleteI love Hammerin' Hank! Always a class act.
ReplyDeleteLocal news predicted 3,000. I am proud of my city.
ReplyDeleteThe local news predicted a draw of 3,ooo. So proud of my city.
ReplyDeleteMimi, I'd be just as proud as you are if I lived there!
DeleteAny community that turns out like they did to show their support for someone like Barack Obama would be a great place to live.
Thanks. Milwaukee is a great place to live! Obama 2012.
DeleteLove, love, love President Obama.
ReplyDeleteAnd a great big "Thank You" to each and every one of you who attends President Obama's campaign stops.
From Someone who is unable to attend his events, I deeply appreciate your support of our special President Obama.
I share every ones' enthusiasm for our president. :)
ReplyDeleteI was there with a bunch of friends. It was AWESOME!!! I could not believe the turnout. Anyone familiar w/Milwaukee - the line extended all the way from the Marcus amphitheater past the art museum and Discovery World and well into veteran's park! The crowd was amazingly diverse and we all were amazed by how many people brought their children! President Obama's speech was excellent, of course.
ReplyDeleteYep, I brought my 5th grader. We were equally impressed and enthused!
DeleteIt WAS fun, Molly! I actually had a hard time getting tickets but late Friday I finally got some. I still can't believe how excited people were. Sheesh, wherever we went last night in the 3rd ward there were really fun people to talk to :) Dems make for some great company :)
DeleteI am over 60 , In concert tickets were not sold on line,
ReplyDeleteI have stood over night for just a few peeps
3 times for the Stones ( and if I have to say more than that you're not cool)
4 times for Neil Young ( and again if you just aren't cool
And ONE time for President Obama ( okay it was not really an overnight, I had the ticket aghead of time)
But this was the very same feeling.
Obama /Biden 2012
Little Rabbit
Little Rabbit... at 72 I may be a decade ahead of you, but that does not deter me.
DeleteI just came home from a concert by Jethro Tull - Ian Anderson. It was fabulous, but what was even better was this: In 1976 I took my 4 kids, who were between 10 and 16 to Jethro Tull, and today I went with one of my sons and his daughter! Three generations for Mr. Anderson! YEAH! It feels great!
Many times I still go without knowing whether there will be a ticket, but even with a sold-out concert, there usually are a few single seats available at the last moment.
Anyway, I missed out at seeing/hearing our President three weeks ago, and I had a sad :(
I was told the tickets just flew out of the party offices in the three county area.
I was there! It was GREAT being with all the sane people!
ReplyDeleteA little rain never hurt anybody.....
Did you see the rainbows both before and after President Obama's speech? Eerie!! :) And, yes, the crowd was amazing. I had so much fun just talking to people and sharing ideas.
DeleteI'd stand in torrential rains for just a glimpse. Sixty Minutes did a story on both candidates, Mitt comes off as a complete fraud, I had to look away from the TV when they did a close up shot while he lied.He never directly addressed the questions, just stuck to his talking points. He's one scary looking dude!
ReplyDeleteThe President, on the other hand, was engaged, actively listened to and answered the questions asked, even the difficult ones. What an amazingly caring human being!
Obamanos 2012!
