President Obama awards the Medal of Honor, while the recipient's son steals the show.

Courtesy of the Denver Post:

Former US Army Staff Sargent Clinton Romesha(C) walks with US President Barack Obama(R) and First Lady Michelle Obama (L) to the East Room for his Medal of Honor ceremony at the White House February 11, 2013 in Washington, DC. Sargent Romesha was awarded the Medal of Honor for his gallantry during an insurgent attack on Combat Outpost Keating in Afghanistan in 2009.

This was who our President was honoring while Palin and the Right Wing were attacking him for not attending the memorial service of celebrity sniper, and gun shot victim, Chris Kyle.

However as impressive as Sargent Romesha's achievements were it was another, younger Romesha, who garnered muhc of the attention, including the President's.

What impressed me the most about this ceremony were the President's words "defending the indefensible" after he described Combat Outpost Keating as one of the most remote, situated in a steep valley surrounded by mountains, as having been described as "tactically indefensible" by the command system. He repeated in unambiguous language what the soldiers were asked to do when manning this COP: "defend the indefensible".

Listen to it and see what you think...

So glad this little boy still has his Dad in his life; so often, Medal of Honor winners are only acknowledged after death.

What an impressive example to follow as he grows up!

What I loved about that video is the utter tenderness and respect that his Daddy showed to the little one. He didn't grab him or reprimand him, he took him gently and with respect and directed him to a more appropriate place to be. That is the kind of parenting that is a joy to behold.

O/T And then there's these assholes that make our laws:

Their wives and girlfriends and sisters and daughters should rip them all a new one! SHAME, shame, shame on them. I don't tweet, but if I did I'd slam their sorry asses!

Yes, and that includes the "savior" Marco Rubio!

Yes, redirecting the little guy was done respectfully. However, the person who did it is a Marine (notice the red stripe on his trousers) White House Aide. Sergeant Romesha is an Army veteran.

I loved the president's words! He's extremely respectful of our armed forces and the sacrifices they and their families make.
And what an honor, so glad his family and son got to witness it. He seems truly humbled, a real hero.

The President's speech is amazing. He honors the actions of this man with the greatest honor a citizen can get. I'm so moved by this hero and glad his family and son got to witness this acknowledgment.

  8. When I saw Joe Biden wipe away a tear (as I was wiping away my own), I thought then would have been an appropriate time for John Boehner to shed a REAL tear or two instead of that phony stuff he does to impress his...whatever they are...constituents, I guess. He just sat there looking as sour and mean as usual.

The little boy reminded me so much of our youngest grandchild when he was a few years younger - and both are named Collin.
