One time rabid Sarah Palin defender, John Ziegler is back, and he is even MORE disgusting than before.

Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

Courtesy of Think Progress:

NBC is hyping an “interview,” to be aired Monday, with convicted child rapist Jerry Sandusky. But what they don’t tell you is the interview wasn’t conducted by NBC. Rather, NBC is airing excerpts of an interview by John Ziegler, right-wing documentarian and propagandist. Ziegler has been publicly skeptical of the charges against Sandusky, who was convicted of 45 counts of child sexual abuse, writing that at the time the grand jury was convened “the legal case against Jerry Sandusky was actually remarkably weak.”

Ziegler insists he is “not supportive” of Sandusky and does acknowledge he engaged in “criminal behavior.”

The interview being aired by NBC as news content is part of a larger documentary called “The Framing of Joe Paterno.” On his website, Ziegler lambasts the Freeh Report of the Penn State scandal, which concluded Joe Paterno “failed to protect against a child sexual predator harming children for over a decade.” Ziegler attacks the testimony of assistant coach Mike McQueary who said he observed Sandusky sexually assaulting a child in the shower. Ziegler says “the evidence indicates that McQueary did not witness an assault, but rather a botched ‘grooming’”

Previously Ziegler has produced films such as “Media Malpractice: How Obama Got Elected” and “Blocking The Path to 9/11,” a film defending an error riddled mini-series seeking to pin blame on Bill Clinton for the 9/11 attacks.

Ziegler is also defending Reno Saccoccia, the Steubenville football coach who “knew about the rape of a 16-year-old girl by two of his players, but didn’t say a word about it to school administrators or local law enforcement.” On his website, Ziegler asserts Saccoccia is “not culpable” and reveals he has been “advising him for the past several months on how to handle the media firestorm.”

I have NO idea why NBC would give this idiot a platform to use to trash the individuals who courageously came forward to testify about what Jerry Sandusky did, however they surely cannot believe that Ziegler has ANY credible evidence. He is is brazenly pimping his website in the above interview and it is clear that he is desperately trying to come up with some way to get more hits.

As it turns out even Paterno's family knows that Ziegler has nothing:  “If John had a credible way to exonerate Dad, why would we oppose it? Think about that.”

Ziegler is an opportunistic, pathetic piece of human garbage, and  there is no a truly journalistic bone in his body.

"Oh my God there is a story that everybody is talking about.  How can I get my name attached to it so people will pay attention to me again?"

NBC should be ashamed of itself.

Just saw this on CNN this AM. How disgusting this guy is. The first thing I thought of when I saw him was trashy Palin. She can really pick them. This guy should be ashamed of himself. CNN said that the Paterno family wanted nothing to do with this guy and neither does the college. Sick, sick, sick!!!

    Oh, well, okay then? WTF?

So Ziegler interviews a convicted child rapist and was skeptical of the charges against him(though he pays lip service to saying Sandusky engaged in "criminal behavior.")

He is supportive of the Steubenville football coach who was surely aware of the attitudes of male athlete privilege exhibited by his team.

He was gaga over Palin, a woman who exhibits frequent and dramatic behaviors common in those who were sexually abused as children.

What the hell is creeping around in Ziegler's reptile brain, either in his past or present, that leads him to these people?

NBC News is under fire for airing an interview with convicted Penn State child rapist Jerry Sandusky that was conducted by a controversial conservative filmmaker.

NBC had initially announced the interview without saying who had conducted it. By Sunday, though, other outlets learned that the interview was actually an excerpt from a film by Ziegler called "The Framing of Joe Paterno." (Ziegler is also famous for making a 2009 film that was heavily supportive of Sarah Palin.) In a post on Sunday, TVNewser said that NBC's initial statement "probably leaves readers with the impression that NBC journalists were involved, even though it technically never says NBC conducted the interview."

Ziegler's main focus is what he describes as the railroading of Paterno, the late Penn State coach who was accused by the official Freeh Report of having worked to cover up Sandusky's child abuse. But, along the way, he called the legal case against Sandusky "remarkably weak" at points in the investigation, and said that a sexual assault that assistant coach Mike McQueary reported seeing was actually a "botched 'grooming.'"

In a blog post last week, Ziegler defended himself. "I made it very clear to everyone here, including Sandusky, that I am not supportive of him and some of my questions of him were actually much tougher than any he has ever faced," he wrote.

"The Today Show to Air Jerry Sandusky Interview Filmed by Penn State Truther," Gawker's headline blared. "NBC To Air ‘Interview’ Of Sandusky By Man Who Called The Case Against The Convicted Child Rapist ‘Remarkably Weak’" was the take from Think Progress. Even Paterno's own family spoke out against Ziegler's interview, calling it a "sad and unfortunate development" and "an insult to the victims and anyone who cares about the truth in this tragic story."

On Monday, Matt Lauer pressed Ziegler about his views on Sandusky. It took Lauer four tries before Ziegler conceded that he thought Sandusky was guilty of "many, if not all, of the things he was convicted of," but he said there had been errors of due process in Sandusky's trial. He also held up documents which he said came from "Victim 2," who he said denied having been molested by Sandusky in a shower. Lauer quickly cut in to say that NBC News was not identifying the boy, even though Ziegler does in his film. The show then aired excerpts of Sandusky disputing McQueary's account.

Ziegler said he knew he would not get a fair hearing in the media about Paterno or Sandusky.

"I know the media really well, Matt," he said. "I personally believe that the media ... they don't want to hear what the truth is. This has been a rush to judgment from the very beginning."

Sandusky was found guilty in a court of law. For Zeigler to be trying to spin the story in another direction discredits him. It also discredits any other films that he made, including the one about Sarah Palin. And, NBC is desperate for ratings if they are airing this kind of junk.

As for Zeigler, I suggest that for his next project, he go to the various Catholic churches which have been associated with child abuse and do a film about them. Maybe he can claim that the kids just made up the stories. Then, he can go to Rome and show that the Church did not try to cover anything up. Like the subjects of his films, Zeigler really wants attention and he doesn't care what he has to do to get noticed.

Right-wing director defends interview with child molester for pro-Paterno documentary

NBC News was criticized Monday morning for airing and promoting a right-wing documentarian’s interview with convicted child molester Jerry Sandusky.

On Monday, the family of Sandusky’s supervisor, deceased Penn State head football coach Joe Paterno, said in a release that the airing of excerpts from documentarian John Ziegler’s interview with Sandusky on The Today Show, were “a sad and unfortunate statement.”

“Sandusky had the opportunity to speak, under oath, during his trial and he chose not to do so,” the family said. “Releasing a recording at this time, nearly a year after he was found guilty on 45 counts, is transparently self-serving and yet another insult to the victims and anyone who cares about the truth in this tragic story.”

In his own interview with Today Show host Matt Lauer, Ziegler accused the media of slamming him in order to avoid hearing what he said is the truth Paterno.

“This has been a rush to judgement from the very beginning,” said Ziegler, who interviewed Sandusky as part of a project he claimed will amount to Paterno’s “public day in court” regarding allegations he was part of a school cover-up of Sandusky’s crimes. “I know that I’m gonna get attacked from everybody because no one wants the truth here.”

Think Progress reported on Sunday that Ziegler has also been advising Steubenville High School football coach Reno Saccoccia. Two of Saccoccia’s players, Ma’lik Richmond and Trent Mays, were convicted on March 17 of raping a 16-year-old girl in August 2012. Testimony during the trial indicated that Saccoccia was aware of the crime.

“I am at least as certain that Reno Saccoccia was not culpable in the crimes of his players as I am in Joe Paterno’s lack of blame for those of his former assistant coach Jerry Sandusky,” Ziegler wrote on his website on March 19.

However, Ziegler was reluctant to tell Lauer whether he thought Sandusky’s conviction was justified.

“After over a year of examining this case, after your conversations with Jerry Sandusky in person or by phone, do you believe he was wrongly convicted?” Lauer asked.

“Jerry Sandusky already had his day in court,” Ziegler began.

“But do you believe he was wrongly convicted?” Lauer pressed.

“I’ve written extensively about this at our website,” Ziegler said. “But I wanted to say that my focus here has been on Joe Paterno.”

“I understand, but it helps me with perspective hearing the interview,” Lauer interjected.

“Jerry Sandusky had his day in court,” Ziegler said again. “Joe Paterno never did. I’m trying to get Joe Paterno, effectively, his day in court.”

Lauer pressed on, asking, “But do you believe Jerry Sandusky is a pedophile and he’s guilty of the things he was accused of?”

“I’ve no doubt that Jerry Sandusky was guilty of many of the things, if not all the things, he was accused of,” Ziegler conceded. “But I do believe that there were due process problems with the trial.”

Ziegler also excitedly told Lauer that he had obtained a statement by one of Sandusky’s victims saying that the victim denied any wrongdoing on the part of the coach.

“Let’s remember something: Victim number two never testified in the case against Jerry Sandusky,” Lauer rebutted. “So his credibility never directly impacted the trial. The jurors never heard from victim number two.”

“That’s what’s quite remarkable about this,” Ziegler said, before returning to his point that his documentary focused on Paterno’s alleged culpability.

Later in the interview, Lauer read from the Paterno family’s statement, telling Ziegler that they felt that it was important to emphasize they had no part in the release of Ziegler’s interview with Sandusky, and that “any attempt to use this recording as a defense of Joe Paterno is misguided and inappropriate.”

“Well that statement I found to be sad,” Ziegler said. “Heartbreaking for me, considering I put a year of my life into this with no compensation, no thought of compensation. [I] only wanted to do one thing, which was to find out what the truth of this matter was, which was Joe Paterno’s dying wish.”

Watch Ziegler’s interview with Lauer, aired Monday on NBC, below.

How does he know what Paterno's dying wish was? My guess is, his dying wish was that this would have remained a deep dark secret. Paterno had to have known. This abuse went on for decades, with his 'best friend.' No one is that good of a liar. Sandusky is slime, and Joe went along with it. See, n o interview needed.

Who in the entire universe could possibly care what this tool thinks about anything?

At this point, what everyone needs to know and remember is that Comcast now owns 100% of NBC/MSNBC. Several weeks ago they bought out the remaining percentage owned by GE. A week or so later, Ed Schultz was booted out of prime time, do doubt in large part because he was a strong voice for working people and unions. Comcast can't have that.
