Top NRA official no longer has right to bear arms.

Richard D'Alauro NRA filed representative and abusive spouse.
Courtesy of New York Daily News:

Richard D’Alauro, the NRA’s field representative for the city and its suburbs, is forbidden from owning guns under an order of protection stemming from a confrontation with his wife in their Long Island home, the Daily News has learned.

Suffolk County authorities filed misdemeanor charges of assault and endangering the welfare of a child and a noncriminal charge of harassment as a result of the domestic dustup, which occurred at 1:55 a.m. on Sept. 1, 2010, records show.

At the time, the police confiscated a whopping 39 pistols, shotguns and rifles that D’Alauro kept in the couple’s East Northport, L.I., home.

Cops had to return to the house for guns and ammunition they missed the first time, according to Maribeth D’Alauro, who divorced her husband after the incident.

But don't forget, it is ONLY criminals using guns that is the reason for gun violence. "Responsible" gun owners, you know like member of the NRA, are not the ones we should be worried about.

Yeah right, tell us another one.

The thing is that all of this focus on mental health and background checks is all well and good, but the majority of gun deaths result from suicide, accidental shootings, and episodes of domestic violence.

There is NO check that will be able to determine a person's reaction when in a highly emotional state.

In the posting you mentioned suicide in the context of mental health and gun owners.

I'm a senior citizen, age 63. I am a libertarian/conservative American that believes that gun purchases should all be vetted and tracked by the government, and clips should be limited to 10 rounds maximum.

I also believe in well regulated militias, and deplore the right wing lunacy currently running rampant under the aegis of the NRA>

That being said, one reason we have so many suicides by gun is because there is no easy access to the drugs that would make dying painless, non-traumatic, and easy..

When and if you are 86 years old like a relative of mine who's suffering with multiple medical issues, things will reach a point where she'd like to die. She's told me so already.

Of course, the evangelicals and others would immediately condemn such an act, and would not be in favor of making drugs available.

So if you're in serious pain every day, are 86 years old,, have no hope of recovery, and are facing a truly miserable future, why not a mercy death?

Why not make the correct 4 ounce container of appropriate barbituates available for these folks? This woman has never used firearms herself, and I an not contemplating lending mine.

Why do we mercifully put an end to the life of our dogs and cats when they are looking up at us in agony? Why would we deny that remedy. for a loved one with terminal illness.

As for myself, I am in good health, but I do have a pre-planned solution for suicide if its ever necessary, and for now it's likely to be messy and traumatic for those who find me, and I regret that.

My only option , without robbing a pharmacy or bribing a nurse is to use a high powered firearm.

No law, or religion based sentiments are going to deprive me of dying by my own hand if I don't want to continue on. No government will stand in the way of my rights.

Didn't someone mention life, liberty and happiness in the context of America?

    1. Most firearm suicides are by men, not women, and rarely for women over 65.

Elderly men will kill themselves more often with a gun, but that is more due to the male connection to guns, than the unavailability of pharmaceuticals.

Besides, seriously, who in this country cannot get a bottle of sleeping pills?

      Nice try, no cigar.

As far as the "well-regulated militias" are concerned we already have them - the National Guard in each state. We need no more than those.

Ummm 10:34, if you wan to save those who find you the mess and trauma, why dont you try the ol' running the car in the garage trick. That's my fall back plan. Clean, simple, no pain...

No garage. Get creative. Funnel a tube from the exhaust into the car window.

Never the less, my point is committing suicide with a gun is more about going out with a "bang" than wanting to end your life. Is it not??

Even though I consider myself a tree huggin' liberal, I like the libertarian perspective because it doesn't incorporate religious ideology. The freedom to take your life under debilitating circumstances makes sense to me.

However, on the surface your argument may seem logical but it lacks a syllogistic foundation. --gun suicides are due to lack of access to drugs for such purpose--

There's a lot of people who comment on this blog who are a lot smarter than I am, so please if you can expand, by all means do so.

O/T but Hillary Clinton Trounces Chris Christie, Marco Rubio, and Paul Ryan in New Poll

A new Quinnipiac University poll found that Hillary Clinton would trounce any of the top three Republican 2016 contenders, but Vice President Joe Biden would lose to Christie, struggle against Ryan, and defeat Rubio.

If the election were held today, former Sec. of State Clinton would have an easy time against either Chris Christie, Marco Rubio, or Paul Ryan. Clinton would defeat Sen. Marco Rubio 50%-34%. She would also win by double digits over Rep. Paul Ryan 50%-38. The Republican that would give her the most trouble is the one that the conservative base likes the least. Clinton would defeat Gov. Chris Christie 45%-37%.

Why does he get his guns back? EVER? How does the passing of a year make him any more reasonable or sound in his mind or over his anger issues? Why does he get his rights returned to him for this unacceptable and dangerous/threatening behavior? WTF???????????????

I agree. Meanwhile, he will probably spend his time joining/founding some "militia" or other to push for New York to secede from the Union.

A school district in New York has put a program to put armed officers in schools on hold after a policeman’s handgun went off at Highland High School.

You libruls are all alike. Sure, you have compassion for the so-called "innocent" Newtown 6 year olds (do we REALLY know how innocent they were??) but there's never any compassion for the true American gun lover. And I mean "gun lover" literally. Let me explain.

Years ago, when I was a fresh-faced young staff comedian for a large rural trauma center (medicine has changed a lot since then) in an unnamed southern state, I began to notice a trend. Weekend nights were the worst. Red-faced men, from about 18 to 65 years of age would come into the ER, many times wearing flannel pajama bottoms and bulky camo field jackets, and immediately be escorted into a private exam room. Needless to say, they never called a Code 21 ("stand-up comic to ER, stat")

I started asking around and soon discovered the hidden secret in the gun admirers community and why they so desperately cling to their large capacity ammo clips.

Have you ever looked closely at an Ultra-Fire 30, 45 or the very rare 125 round high-cap semi-automatic rifle magazine? Ever wonder why it's curved the way it is?

Turns out that thousands, perhaps many tens of thousands of passionate gun enthusiasts are being um... embedded in their magazines during reckless acts of semi-automatic self love. Hold your snickering. This is serious. (Oh, go ahead and snicker a little)

At some rural hospitals, the percentage of all patients who come in, unable to extract their um... love guns from their curved banana clips can be as high as 75-90%. And when you add in the number of "ass bullet" aficionados unable to extract their spent rounds (google "ass pennies video") from their hindquarters, some rural red state hospitals do nothing but work to carefully separate the sheepish gun nuts from the weapons they love.

So how about lightening up on the gun nuts, Gryphen. They can't help it if they love their guns very, very, very, very much.

Southern Belle SenatorLindsey Graham's says his [imaginary] family needs AR-15s to Fight Theoretical 'Roaming Gangs' of Big, Strong Men During Hurricanes

yet...."Facing an influx of refugees, the residents of New Orlean's Algiers Point could have pulled together food, water and medical supplies for the flood victims," ProPublica's A.C. Thompson wrote in 2008.

"Instead, a group of white residents, convinced that crime would arrive with the human exodus, sought to seal off the area, blocking the roads in and out of the neighborhood by dragging lumber and downed trees into the streets.

They stockpiled handguns, assault rifles, shotguns and at least one Uzi and began patrolling the streets in pickup trucks and SUVs. The newly formed militia, a loose band of about 15 to 30 residents, most of them men, all of them white, was looking for thieves, outlaws or, as one member put it, anyone who simply 'didn't belong.'"

Thompson found that at least 11 African-American men ended up being shot near the Algiers Point neighborhood by a militia of men who were all white.

LOL..a comment posted elsewhere in re: Lindsey Graham imaginary threats against his imaginary family:

"If you're so concerned about your imaginary family, I'll give you, free of charge, an imaginary AR-15 with hig-capacity magazines, and all the imaginary rounds you want. That way you can shoot all the imaginary roaming gangs of criminals you want. Ok?"

I am only moderately immersed in the sport shooting world because my oldest son in on his high school's varsity rifle team. It is 3 position air rifle, similar to olympic sport shooting. We don't own anything more powerful than his air rifle, but a lot of the parents and coaches of course are NRA members. I've only overheard them talking about guns other than sporting rifles, and lots of the dads have multiple guns and rifles for every type of shooting...field target, handguns, hunting rifles, you name it. They buy guns the way I buy shoes, except my shoes rarely cost more than $100. So in one respect I understand the sport aspect of it, but jeez, really, 39 guns? You have to clean them store them, guns require a lot of care and maintenance , not to mention can cost anywhere from $100 to $3,500 each , so it's an expensive habit.

To be honest, you rarely find a gun dude who only has one or two guns, just like you rarely find a woman with one or two handbags or pairs of shoes. It's weird, but it is what it is.

Walmart Customer Pulls Gun When Coupon Denied

A 61 year-old woman at a Crawfordville, FL, Walmart had an epic meltdown March 1 when told that her internet coupon would not be accepted. Mary Frances Alday, became "extremely upset" when assistant manager, Tracy Stockslager, told her the store's policy. According to the police report, Alday called Stockslager a bitch and other names and deliberately hit her with a shopping cart.

When Stockslager followed Alday out of the store with the intention of getting her license plate number for the police, Alday warned "If you follow me, I have something in my car for you." She then retrieved a loaded .38 Special and began pointing it at the employees who had followed her.

Aday fled the scene but was arrested later at a traffic stop. She had to be tased to get her out of the car and struck the arresting officer several times.

See, I just knew this was the case with lots of these righty gun crazies; they want less restriction because they have already crossed the line and cannot own a gun legally. I know a guy who goes on and on about is 2nd amen rights but says nothing about the individual who's rights he violated. Keep up the pressure folks- we are doing great when these stories are circulated.

The artist formerly known as Snoop Dogg has been making some major changes in his life over the last year. As he explained to Bill Maher on last week’s Real Time, a trip to Jamaica altered his outlook on life, leading him to become a Rastafarian, change his name to Snoop Lion and start recording reggae music. This transformation also led Snoop to rethink his long and complicated relationship with guns.

In a preview from Thursday’s Piers Morgan Tonight, Snoop shared the inspiration behind a new song called “No Guns Allowed.” He explained to Piers Morgan that he went through a situation where authorities raided his house, took his guns and “put my family through a whole lot of unnecessary abuse.” After that, he decided he didn’t need guns in his life because he was feeling “positive and peaceful.”

At the same, he was hearing about the recent mass shootings in the country and wanted to “make some music to try to help the next person who was thinking about loading a gun and going to a school and shooting.”

Morgan asked Snoop why he thinks guns have become such a big “symbol of power” in America. Snoop described how he would see guns in movies when he was little and then started to see them in real life, with people he knew getting killed. “They say it’s better to be caught with, than without,” he said. “But once you get older, it’s better not to have one.”

CNN will air Morgan’s full interview with Snoop Lion tonight during the 9pm ET hour.
