Hillary Clinton: "Women's rights are human rights, and human rights are women's rights." Gee, if ONLY the Republican party could understand that fact.

Courtesy of Yahoo News:

Hillary Clinton delivered a rousing speech on women’s rights on Friday, insisting that empowering women is a “core imperative” for society if the United States is to enjoy economic success and remain a global leader.

Speaking at the Women in the World Summit organized by Tina Brown, editor in chief of Newsweek The Daily Beast, Clinton acknowledged women “have come so far” in areas including politics and in the workplace. But she called gender equality the "unfinished business of the 21st century"—not just in developing countries, but also in the U.S., where women continue to be “marginalized” when it comes to access to education and their ability to receive a salary equal to their male peers.

“For many American women, the dream of upward mobility … the American dream remains elusive,” Clinton declared. “No country can achieve its full economic potential when women are left out or left behind."

It was Clinton’s second major speech this week—and the second time she spoke of the need to empower women around the world, an issue that has long driven her career in public life.

Hillary Clinton is quickly becoming an unstoppable force in politics. I am not even completely confident that President Obama could have beaten THIS Hillary Clinton back in 2008.

By the way our friend Sarah Jones over at Politicususa has noticed that already Hillary is kicking Republican ass. Well at least on the internets.

Hillary Clinton’s Super PAC already surpasses the Republican 2012 Presidential nominee’s PAC’s Facebook fans, and she hasn’t even announced if she’s running for President in 2016. The Ready for Hillary SuperPAC has more twitter followers than Karl Rove’s Crossroads PAC and more Facebook fans than Mitt Romney’s Super PAC had on election day.

Clinton hasn’t mentioned any 2016 plans, but a SuperPAC “Ready for Hillary“, filed papers two months ago and reports gaining an average of 1,000 supporters a day. They write, “Even before the impending official launch of the PAC, more than 100,000 grassroots supporters are now part of our network.”

The “Ready for Hillary” SuperPAC also gave Karl Rove a little kick in the pants, “Reached 50,000 @readyforhillary Twitter followers – already five times more than Karl Rove’s American Crossroads.” Actually, Ready for Hillary is at 54, 768 as of this writing. @AmericanXRoads, which links to American Crossroads.Org, has 9,544 followers and @CrossroadsGPS has 4,966 followers.

Nope not looking good for any future Republican opponents that's for sure.

By the way there is some talk among Republicans that their best bet, in fact perhaps their ONLY bet against Hillary in 2016, would be the tiny man with the road kill toupee himself, Rand Paul.

All I can say to that, is "YES please!" For me literally the only thing better than watching Rand Paul face off against Hillary Clinton would be if he chose Sarah Palin as his running mate.

If that were to happen you would know my reaction simply by the fact that I would not be able to post for several days as I would be too overcome with euphoria to get up off the floor.

I have to say that there are a lot of reason that I am looking forward to Hillary winning the White House, but one of them has to be that this amazing young woman might also take up residence there once again.

If ever there were anybody who could be said to be the very antithesis to the Palin and McCain daughters. this young woman is it.

I think the whole country, perhaps even some on the Right, would take great pride in having this family represent their country once again. And yes that means Bill Clinton as well.

Hillary's got quite a resume...lawyer, First Lady of Arkansas, First Lady of the United States, Senator, a candidate for POTUS in 2008, and Secretary of State...and I agree with MordacP, she'll win in an epic landslide. I was torn between Obama and Hillary in 2008. I voted for Obama in the primaries and I'm not disappointed but it was a tough choice for me and I'm a female.

As a NY resident who loved her as my Senator, I voted for Hillary in 2008 but it was, for me too, a difficult choice. In the end, I was happy with either candidate. As qualified as I think she was in 2008, I think she has gone far beyond that in proving her competence and ability to handle the job in the years since. She did an amazing job as SoS and added some impressive diplomatic credentials to her already bursting resume.

I pity any Republican who runs against her, and there doesn't seem to be any rising GOP star who can come close to the political power she's achieved both here and internationally.

I would dearly love to see Hilary Clinton as our first female President!

I'll always wonder how in the world John McCain could have thought that Sarah Palin would win over Hillary Clinton supporters! He's as dumb as Sarah!

Why would Chelsea, a grown, married, successful woman, move back in with her parents at the White House?

      Moral support for her mother?

I don't know, I just think she might.

To be with her before she's gone.

I so hope Hillary runs! Wouldn't it be exciting if the Clintons were back in the White House? Thank you, President Obama, for appointing her Secretary of State in your first term because it greatly improved the reputation and experience level of Hillary. It is also very exciting to think that Dems could very likely be int he White House for a total of 16 years running! The Repubs would be shitting their pants! Wonder if they'd try and obstruct her as they have President Obama?

Hillary, sure. I'd vote for her in a second.
After Obama is done getting his horrific 'Grand Deal' though, the Democrats will have a hard time.
I bet the next president will be a republican. If they can find someone somewhat palatable to the general public.

Chelsea Clinton: the ultimate child of privilege who will NEVER truly understand 'regular' people.
Who simply CANNOT. She grew up in a governor's mansion, then was moved into the White House.
Her first job paid $100K. Think about that.
I sure hope she'll never run for anything.

5:54 pm, what, are you so jealous you can't stand it that a young girl was brought up with values and worked hard? Chelsea Clinton spent her time in school, playing soccer, taking ballet lessons...not cutting school bus brake lines, getting pregnant in tents, or trashing people's houses.

Chelsea Clinton went to an excellent university and graduated with honors. Too bad the Pay-me kids have to rely on the GEDs that Mommy bought for them.

Isn't that kind of what our society wants and strives for for its kids? Why do you think that her parents couldn't have raised her to carry on the values that they obviously have and have shared with the world for many years? Do you think she may have had experiences and gained some knowledge due to her extraordinary life that "regular" kids just aren't equipped with that could be helpful? You sound like you hate rich people.

    4. She would very likely do a hell of a lot better than uneducated, inexperienced, angry, bigoted, 'baggers with no political experience at all and absolutely no idea about how to govern, but who believe instead that governance by obstruction and tantrums is a productive and functional way to run a country of 300+ million people.

Jealous? No, I'm not that petty.
I'm against any kind of oligarchy. Go ahead, look it up and see what it means.

The people in the US tried to get away from monarchies - only those in any level of any monarchy (and it would always be a sickly incestuous relationship)(be it britain, netherlands what-not) would ever truly own anything.

The whole point of the United States would be that everyone has the same chance to succeed.
That no longer is the case.
Right now, the rich take care of the rich.
Chelsea got a 'journalist position' at MSNBC, I believe. Yet she is not a journalist, nor claims to be one. She has yet to produce anything. Yet....I bet she gets paid.
there's this other guy who got a prime reporting position primarily because his dad died. His dad was a highly respected journalist - the son only had the name.
I forgot the name/family. I do know the son is unqualified and is another example of oligarchy.

Jealousy has NOTHING to do with it.
The point is that you and your children will NEVER have the same chance and/or opportunity.

Like in the 'old' days - regular people will never have a say.

Please don't be as ignorant as the tea partiers.
On this forumn I expected people to be able to THINK.

Hillary's always spoken up about women's rights, especially during her run as Secretary of State.

Yes, Rand/Palin is just the Ticket to beat Hillary. Another eight years of Clinton after Obama's term sounds better and better, and I could see Chelsea entering politics some time in the future as well.

OT. Malala's dream has come true, her foundation is educating 40 young women, and Angelina Jolie made a sizable contribution to help it become a reality.

I wonder how many of us OLDER women are set on remaining very healthy so we can live to see Hillary become our first female president?

I want to be strong enough to help in any way I can to see her have a successful run.

I don't presume I will still be here for her second term, but god willing and the creek don't rise I will be locked on the TV that November eve in 2016! And, yes, I am telling my elderly friends to stay strong so they can share that moment with me, even if only by telephone.

The excitement can only build and bring a dream to fruition!

  8. Nothing makes clearer how shabby and inconsequential Sarah Palin's reputation has become than the Women of the World Summit. All those admirable women of intelligence, character and accomplishment make obvious S.P.'s lack of intelligence, character and accomplishment. That she's never included in this meeting of significant women must shine a light on that even to her 'fans'.

  9. I suspect that as we hear more and more about a potential Hillary campaign, Palin will become more and more frustrated. In her eyes (only) she is Clinton's peer, and she is going to do her trailer trash squawking best to elbow her way to the front of the stage to shriek "Look at MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!"

Since the ignorant buffoon has no comprehension of the fact that she has become a laughingstock on multiple continents, it should be comical to see, since the media is not likely to take anything she says seriously, especially in comparison to Clinton's vastly superior intelligence, education, experience, and class.
