If anybody wondered whether Stephen Colbert would help his sister in her campaign for the South Carolina Congressional seat, that is no longer a mystery. He is all in!

Now that Ashley Judd has broken my heart by not running against Mitch McConnell, THIS is now my favorite race!

I don't think that Mark Sanford has a chance.

You know, Gryphen, it is a woman's prerogative to change her mind. Ashley has plenty of time to get back in that Senate race.

    Stranger things have happened.

What? You think a comedian can (help) win a national political race?

    ...ask Al Franken.

David Letterman kept asking Mitt and Mrs. Mitt to come on his show, but they refused. I guess they were afraid that Dave might make fun of them. By not showing up, he really made fun of them, and their dog on the roof of the car.

Thinking back to the 2008 election, John McCain canceled appearing on Letterman's show at the last minute because McCain had to rush back to Washington to save the economy. Except, he rushed over to Katie Couric's Evening New Show instead. Dave's humor, making fun of McCain was relentless. (You don't cancel at the last minute). He made fun of McCain being an old man, yelling, "Hey you kids, get off my lawn."

Did any of this matter? Late nigh comedians can't get away making fun of people that the public likes. If the public doesn't like the joke, they show it right away.

I wondered if he could comment on her race, under FCC rules. But, as he demonstrated on last night's show, Joe Scarborough, Mike Barnicle and the rest of the crew on "Morning Joe" shamelessly pumped for Mark Sanford, with Barnicle even asking Sanford whether his "honesty" about his love affair will hurt him. As Colbert pointed out, Sanford was only being honest about his lying. It's worth watching Colbert's show of April 3 to see the unbelievable excerpts from "Morning Joe."
So, if Joe Scarborough & Co. can interview Sanford on live tv and extol what they think are his virtues, evidentlly Stephen Colbert can offer his opinions, too. Something tells me the "Colbert Nation" will do whatever they can to help Eliz. Colbert Busch earn her seat in the House.

Of course he comment on it! No fair play rules, just like the GOP want!

Aside from holding up the sign at the end of the show, he hasn't done one thing different for his sister than he has done with any other candidate. Pretty much, he just ran tape of the way that her opponent was interviewed so fawningly.

  4. That was great! I sent a donation to her campaign a few days ago, and there will be more in the short time left before the election.

It's nice to have an awesome campaign to be excited about once again.

Very interesting article on Elizabeth Colbert Busch:
"Tough times have taught comedian's sister to love life."
