Okay for some reason I woke up really early and noticed I had left my television on which was playing some stupid infomercial.
So in my bleary eyed state I turned the channel to MSNBC figuring I could fall back asleep for an hour or so to the inanity that comes from Morning Joe.
Wrong.
What I heard was Bill Kristol and the group talking about the possible GOP lineup for 2016. He listed off the usual group of losers, which now included Jeb Bush, Scott Walker, John Bolton, and Ted Cruz.
And then he introduced Palin's name to the mix, "just to make people's heads explode."
This resulted in this bizarre round of rationalizations for why she could run, and how it would be good for the party. Scarborough even had the gall to compare her to Babe Ruth, which should make every baseball fan want to go to his house and burn it to the ground.
However things took a more combative turn when Chuck Todd said that he also believed that Palin would run, but only to make money and increase her visibility and further her career.

She is possibly one of the most ignorant people on the planet, but she KNOWS that if she ran she would face the kind of scrutiny from the press and others that frightens her to her very core.
Not only that but those who have stayed silent up until now, would be compelled to talk, and she would never let that happen.

DeleteJoe Biden was in an extremely delicate situation because, if he debated Palin the proper way, he would have come across as being mean. He's also known for having a friendly, easygoing demeanor.
Hillary would not have to 'be a gentleman' and could go after Palin with everything she had. She's got a reputation for being tough so it would not be out of character for her to be a challenging opponent.

DeleteI remember when Bill Kristol appeared on the Daily Show sometime after the 2008 election. Jon Stewart was trying to understand what Kristol was thinking, having supported Palin in any way as a viable candidate in general, let alone for the second highest office in the US. Kristol acted like a complete idiot, trying to explain away his foolishness. It was embarrassing. Jon was basically saying, "what the hell were you thinking?" and "come on, man, you don't really believe that, do you?" Kristol just stammered, grinned stupidly, and blushed like a schoolboy.

Palin is very keenly aware if she ran it would not only be the end of her grifting, but would also be an embarrassment to her and her entire family. She knows as well as everyone else does that she is not nearly as qualified and knowledgable as her opposition would be, and they would cut her up in pieces making even her fans, or cult members, know she will never win now, or ever in the future. She would also not be able to avoid doing interviews with "unfriendly" news media as she does now, and would be forced to answer their questions instead of changing the subject or for not allowing her interviewers to ask for follow up questions as she currently does now. In one great swipe it would also be the total end of her grifting, and worst of all for her, the attention she currently gets from her fame. She could never again get the attention she now gets from the news media which would silence her forever, or as it should be.

ReplyDeleteThe AK legislature proved it's great at avoiding responsibility. Sure, they had a committee investigate Troopergate but then did nothing about the findings. Todd and staffers suffered no consequence for ignoring subpoenas and being 'held in contempt.'
The Personnel Board Troopergate report cleared Sarah BUT said the investigation was limited because the email evidence had vanished. Yet, when it turned out that Frank Bailey had emails and accused Palin of perjury, the AK legislature refused to investigate. They refused to even hold Palin responsible for the findings of the legislative Troopergate report.
Should she run, the court of public opinion will be much more strict than any Alaska judicial body. We saw that first time around when she sank McCain's campaign. Regardless of how many people and organizations try to protect her, the "real Sarah" still shines through and most realize that she is an empty shell.

Would this be the status quo if she was to run in the Presidential primary?
