Arizona pastor claims birth control "promotes whoredom."

Courtesy of Raw Story:

Arizona Pastor Steven Anderson warned his congregation recently that birth control was not only turn women into “whores,” it was also destroying the country.

In a sermon posted online this week, the Faithful Word Baptist Church leader explained that contraception was “not something Christians should be practicing,” even though he acknowledged that 99 percent of Christians believed it was acceptable.

Anderson pointed out that God, in the book of Genesis, had made childbearing painful to punish women for their Original Sin, adding that the husband “shall rule over thee.”

He argued that feminism had “given women the power” to decide when to have children for themselves, allowing them to have careers and follow other interests.

“It used to be a young women, she gets married, she has children, and that’s her job,” he lamented. “They literally count my wife as unemployed! She’s not unemployed, she doesn’t want to be employed. I mean, she’s a wife, she’s a mother.”

Yeah, you know whether she wants to be employed or not, if she does not draw a salary then she is in fact unemployed. What a moron!

But Pastor Dumbass was not done showing his ignorance yet.

“Not only does birth control do damage to women, it hurts their body if they’re using the pills. And it also affects their character, causing them to be an idle, tattler, gossip, turning aside after Satan,” he insisted.

Women would “get into sin” if they were not “busy” raising children, Anderson said.

After mocking actress Annette Funicello for once promoting birth control in the 50's, Anderson followed it up with this little gem.

“It promotes promiscuity, it promotes whoredom!” he advised, reading from the Bible: “Do not prostitute thy daughter to cause her to be a whore, lest the land fall to whoredom and the land become full of wickedness!”

“A land can call to whoredom!” he exclaimed. “And the United States today, fits that bill. If anybody has ever fit that bill, it’s the United States of America.”

And that my friends is why you do not take advice about sex, marriage, and relationships from a book that was written when people still considered women property, and did not really understand human reproduction.

I was going to call this guy a caveman, but I really think that would be an insult to cavemen.

Hard to believe that somebody this anti-woman managed to find some poor female to marry him.

I've got real American money to bet that in a few months we'll find out pastor "whoredom" has been having sex with half of his congregation and paying for their birth control out of church funds. Or he'll get caught with a "young male parishioner" he was trying to instruct.

    Heinous asshole.

      1) Any idiot can call himself "pastor." It doesn't mean he's gone to a real theological seminary, or even have a high school or college degree. No learning or intelligence required.
      2) Have any of these "christians" ever really read the New Testament, which replaces the God of retribution and vengeance of the Old Testament? They never seem to quote Jesus, whose teachings were of peace, love and forgiveness.
      3) How is it that these fundy men are so expert on what defines a "whore"? Do they have personal experience?
      4) These pronouncements have all the markings of a cult. Many people feel safer in life if they give up their independence for rigid rules. And declaring themselves superior to others makes them impervious to mature thinking. Often these people are the children of alcoholics, or grew up in other abusive relationships. They run to severe and inflexible cages that will make them feel secure.

Pastor Dumbass has a wife and guess what? Same shit same verse. Her name is Zsuszanna, she has a blog.. She doesn't like divorce, Obama, God says KILL all the homos, well here is an example:

    AnonymousJanuary 20, 2011 at 8:47 AM

My sister and I were raised in a Christian home. She married a man who was the Sunday School teacher and music director in the local independent fundamental Baptist church. He had all the outward markings of a "godly" Christian man. However, their marriage was not happy and finally after 25 years he admitted he had been a practicing homosexual all during their marriage (the activity started earlier when he was in the military). My sister had to get tested for AIDS (thankfully, she tested negative.) She received pastoral counsel to get a divorce to legally remove her and the children out of this horrible situation, which she did. I wonder how you would have advised her in this case?

    ZsuzsannaJanuary 20, 2011 at 10:15 AM

    Anonymous and others,

the same God who said that marriage is until death also said that homos should get the death penalty.

As with all the other abuse cases mentioned here, if our penal system were based on the Bible, these cases would all be taken care of appropriately, either through corporal punishment of the perpetrator, or in the case of rape, adultery, homosexuality etc. through the death penalty.

It is not God's fault that we, as a society, have decided that our laws are better than His. We can't expect God to change His laws to suit our society, after we decided that we do not like His laws and got ourselves into this mess in the first place.

Obviously, your sister shouldn't live under one roof with a violent pervert. But that doesn't change the fact that as long as he lives (which according to God should not be any longer, but our society knows so much better), she cannot get remarried. If he divorces her, I Corinthians makes it clear that if the unbelieving spouse departs, to let him. But it also says to remain unmarried in that case.

No, it is not your sister's fault that our laws are unjust to the innocent. But such is the nature of sin - it hurts the innocent bystanders. It is not fair that babies get aborted. It is not fair that other babies are poisoned by their mothers in the womb, or abused by them after birth. Sadly, that is the way sin works, though. And because our laws do not punish the sins the way God laid out to do, innocent bystanders suffer.

The problem is not with God. The problem is with us and our wicked society who refuses to follow God's laws.

Pastor Dumbass also believes in executing the gays, also wished his president Barack Obama would die of brain cancer a real piece of work:

" A 31-year-old electrician, father of seven and pastor from Tempe, Ariz., who once wished President Barack Obama would die of brain cancer like Ted Kennedy, came under fire from Irish citizens last week after he declared that the Bible says "gays should be executed" and he supports the teaching.

In a lengthy discussion on Ireland's Classic Hits 4fm radio station that was posted on YouTube, Pastor Steven Anderson of the Faithful Word Baptist Church sparred with callers over his views covering issues such as spanking, sex, modesty, homeschooling and homosexuality. The man's responses made some people so upset they swore at him.

"Well the Bible teaches actually that gays should be executed. Because it actually says in Leviticus 20:13 that if a man also lie with mankind as he lies with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination, they shall surely be put to death, their blood shall be upon them," said Anderson in the just over one-hour session. Prior to that, he had argued that women who wear mini-skirts were dressing like "whores" and that it was inappropriate for women to wear pants."

    Religion exists to control women.

The many, many men that picked the books and translated the crap that is called the Christian bible, did their picking and choosing to suit the political entities that paid them (and allowed them keep their necks intact). Of course, those men produced a "bible" intended to control women.

This idiot pastor can not even admit to himself that it takes two to whore. And if men kept it in their pants, women wouldn't be able to whore.

Religions are also an economic entity. Ideas that ensure the greatest profit for their perpetrators naturally persist. Basically, if the message sells, it gets more entrenched. Men enthusiastically contribute money to men who say men are the lords of creation.

Wealthy churches like Catholic, Mormon, Church of England work the system most successfully.

Not one word of that hateful crap about women from Paul has anything to do with the central message of Jesus, and I say that as an avowed athiest.

I'd like to know what Pastor Anderson would say if his kid had a serious injury from a late night car accident at 2 a.m
When he gets to the ER and his child is bleeding to death, he is greeted by the attending doctor, who happens to be a single unmarried woman of 35.

What's he gonna say? "I'm waiting here for a male doc. You're an unmarried woman! All those years of "your career" were sinful!. You can't treat my kid and save her life, cuz gawd's word says you shouldn't be here, you should be home popping out your 8th kid."

Why put the onus on the women? Is he saying that if women don't take birth control, then men won't have sex with them? Who are the men having sex with? Shouldn't the men be strong enough to wait until marriage before having sex. Aren't they supposed to be the strong ones? Or will the women have sex with other women?

Hey Gryphen, check out the inmates out of control in Bundyville!

This video footage of militia members, or whatever the hell they are, at the Bundy Ranch is teeming with power grabs and paranoia. It’s getting so bad at the ranch that the ‘security chief’ kicked out Stewart Rhodes and the Oathkeepers. It gets better though. Apparently Rhodes believed that a drone strike was about to hit. They accused the Oathkeepers of theft and traitorous acts.

Stewart Rhodes, founder of Oath Keepers, claimed to have received “intel” from a “source of intelligence of high value” within the Department of Defense who told them that “Eric Holder approved a hot drone strike on the [welfare king] Bundy ranch within 48 hours.”

And that’s where the whole back and forth began, which sounded like, “I’m the boss of you.”

    “No, I am.”

    “No, I am!”
