Courtesy of the New York Times:
Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey, whose meteoric rise as a national Republican in his first term was matched only by his spectacular loss of stature at home in his second, enters the 2016 presidential race on Tuesday morning bearing little resemblance to the candidate he once expected to be.
The economic recovery he promised has turned into a cascade of ugly credit downgrades and anemic job growth. The state pension he vowed to fix has descended into a morass of missed payments and lawsuits. The administration he pledged would be a paragon of ethics has instead conspired to mire an entire town in traffic and the governor’s office in scandal.
Chris Christie joins a field that is already bulging at the seams with 13 candidates.
He also enters the race with the lowest polling numbers from his home state yet. With only 35% of New Jersey registered voters approving of his performance, and 51% disapproving, he comes into the race carrying a huge deficit.
Oh and of course there is also "Bridgegate." (Personally I think that soon the investigation will lead directly to Christie, and won't that make for some interesting questions from the press?)
Christie is even being mocked by the superintendent of the high school where he made his announcement this morning:
Jim O'Neill, the Livingston School District's interim superintendent, has repeatedly criticized Christie in the press since the Tuesday event's location was revealed.
"It is my personal opinion that the governor adopts policies that he believes will serve his political agenda regardless of whether or not they are good or necessary," O'Neill told NJ.com.
Right now I think Chris Christie's chances of winning the Republican nomination are about equal to Donald Trump's.
In other words nonexistent.
Update: It might also be worth noting that the editorial board of the Star-Ledger is now calling Christie a pathological liar.
Gee we know a couple of those, don't we?
"They're going to need a bigger clown car."
ReplyDeleteAnd they better opt for the heavy-duty suspension system! They're going to need it with the fat sweaty bully on board.
Really shocked you didn't use the Humpty Dumpty softball uniform pic. Hilarious and horrifying all at once.
ReplyDeleteThree thumbs up!! Haha!!!
DeleteThe media should be running that softball game/uniform picture every chance they get. Does anyone have it? It needs so badly to be circulated. You can't help but laugh when you see it!
DeleteHe's another obese, white, unattractive Republican! God, how do they grow them? Haha!
He'll never be elected POTUS either - he's too much of a bully and has a horrible track record.
Perhaps he'll be defending himself in Court before the election even occurs? Could be from what all they are reporting!
Isn't there some law that mandates that candidates' balls must be bigger than small marbles?
DeleteHeard a republican commenter this morning say that they thought Christie might have a chance to win New Hampshire as he is planning on going there to shake every hand (and more than once if necessary) and that the entrance of Trump into the mix makes Christie look a little more reasonable
ReplyDeleteAnd Mary Pat, true Stepford wife that she is didn't stop smiling and idolizing this huge putz. urge to hurl
ReplyDeleteShe is truly nauseating. And those kids!!! Yuck, yuck, and double yuck!!! What an ugly family!
DeleteRegardless of politics (of which I agree with 0% of Christies's actions), I could never vote for someone who's morbidly obese.
ReplyDeleteNo offense to the morbidly obese, but someone that size is not only ripe for heart, diabetes, stroke, circulation and other diseases, but he can't possibly keep up the pace that a modern President must endure.
Already, Ted Cruz is complaining about the punishing schedule he must follow, and he's semi-svelte next to Christie.
Both the huckster and krispy kreme lack self control. If you looked up gluttony in the dictionary there would be a picture of both of them. I believe gluttony is considered one of 7 deadly sins in the bible.
DeleteI live in NJ - and 100% Christie is liar, and one of the worst, bottom of the barrel and totally corrupt governors out there - just one example our congress came up with a way to finally put money into the budget for the retirement fund for teachers and Christie has vowed to veto it !!! He has cost our state trillions of dollars and 1000s of jobs, paid off his "friends" etc etc etc
ReplyDeleteChris Christie is smarter than Sarah Palin and that makes him more dangerous.
ReplyDeleteEveryone is smarter than Sarah Palin, but yes, I get your point.
DeleteMy pillow cases are smarter than $arah Palin.
DeleteBut, but Sarah said the governor of NJ is naive.
DeleteThere isn't a vehicle anywhere that has the capacity to transport all those over inflated egos, never mind the heft.
ReplyDeleteChristy busted again!
ReplyDeletehttp://standardspeaker.com/news/new-charges-for-palin-tormentor-1.1905658
Everyone in that family are crazy.
DeleteAnd when all is said and done two more are entering in July - Kasich and Walker making a total of 16 running for the top job. When does Romney jump in? I vote Piyush/Bobby is the worst! Can't stand his voice and his face is even worse than that.
ReplyDelete"They're going to need a bigger clown car"
ReplyDeleteThat is just epic in so, so many ways!!! LMFAO....out loud, at work!
There goes the food budget
ReplyDeleteRachel did a good job on this blow hole last night siting the biting editorial from the Star Ledger....I actually know the leading reporter Paul Mulshine and he has never been a fan either. There is another great article on the 3rd summer of thousands still homeless after Sandy. The sad fact is North Jersey voted this criminal 2x, being from the Jersey Shore I don't know anyone that voted for him. He bragged about the boardwalk being back, that's where the press conferences were...too bad no one actually lives on the boardwalk. There are now 2 bloated, arrogant egos in the clown car.....Trump in love with his own voice and Christie the bully liar of the universe. None of these assholes are fit to shine Hillary's shoes. She has forgotten more than they will ever know. We are not even talking about their lack of class...Obama is an impossible act to follow.
ReplyDelete"There are now 2 bloated, arrogant egos in the clown car."
DeleteSharon, I urge you to closely review the field again. The total count of bloated, arrogant egos is much, much higher than two. Much higher.
Should be interesting to watch the battle of egos between him and Trump.
ReplyDeleteI'd rather see Christie get the nomination over Jeb! Bush, but I'm afraid it's going to be Jeb! And that means his brother, too. The thought of another Bush in the Qhite House sickens me.
ReplyDeleteNJ resident again - here's a good article that lays out why Christie will never be president
ReplyDeleteNJ Despises Christie, But It’s These Major Reasons He’ll NEVER Be President

Be sure to check out the new GQ article by Luke O'Brien titled "What a Dick: the Chris Christie Story"!
ReplyDeleteGonna need a bus. More clowns and kkk. Wow the republicans are done
ReplyDeleteTwo words for Christie: SHUT UP!
ReplyDelete(In fact they are his two favourite words.)
I have family and once lived near Livingston. Think of the opening of each episode of "The Supranos" then add a shop vac a jersey accent, and spittle cornered Maalox mouth. Not a pretty picture.
ReplyDeleteLOVED his "backstory" His parents lived in Newark, daddy worked in an ice cream factory, then Newark stared turning browner and they scrimped and saved to move to "the great white north Jersey". What a lovely piece of blubber.
Yeah, big govmint isn't being run properly, and he should know, President Obama rushed in and saved his butt with federal disaster relief ASAP. And BROOOOOSE!!!!! Oh,how soon we forget. TRMS is ripping the liar to shreds, again!!!!!
Trust us, there's a lot of clowns in the car and still room for one more! https://www.facebook.com/ConservativeClownCar
ReplyDeleteI cannot believe Christie declared after all his bullshit. Does he really think people are that forgetful or that stupid?
ReplyDeleteAnd Scotty Walker is still in the chute. He'll be declaring soon too
Has the GOP ever had this many hopefuls? I'll bet not. And I'll also bet it is because of the new Citizen's United and lax election money rules they are really just grifting money with no intention to actually run for President.
