Is Roger Ailes on his way out at Fox News? Maybe.

Well fuck.
So as many of you probably know Rupert Murdoch is stepping down as the CEO of his empire, and leaving his son James in charge.

What you may NOT know is that James Murdoch, as well as his brother Lachlan Murdoch, have a VERY contentious relationship with Ailes.

Here is more courtesy of New York magazine:

Yesterday, 21st Century Fox announced that Ailes would be reporting to Lachlan and James Murdoch. For Ailes, it was a stinging smack-down and effectively a demotion.

Just five days earlier, Ailes released what now appears to be a rogue statement to his own Fox Business channel declaring that he would be unaffected by the announcement that Lachlan and James will take control of Fox as part of Rupert's succession plan. "Roger Ailes will continue to run the news network, reporting directly to Rupert Murdoch," Fox Business reported. According to a well-placed source, Ailes directed Fox Business executive Bill Shine to tell anchor Stuart Varney to read the statement on air. "Ailes told Shine to write the announcement of the move for Varney to say," the source said. "In it, Ailes inserted language that he would report to Rupert."

This was, apparently, news to Rupert. And now the Murdochs are correcting the record. "Roger will report to Lachlan and James," a 21st Century Fox spokesperson told The Hollywood Reporter.

What makes the reversal most remarkable is that, until now, Rupert always backed Ailes during his messy feuds with Murdoch's children. Ailes's tangles with Lachlan were legion. Not long after 9/11, Rupert gave Ailes a new contract after Ailes threatened to resign following a heated argument with Lachlan in the Fox newsroom. Four years later, Lachlan quit his job as deputy COO in charge of the Fox broadcast group after Rupert supported Ailes in a dispute over a TV show that Ailes wanted and Lachlan didn't.

The article goes on to say that James Murdoch is an environmentalist whose wife worked for the Clinton Foundation, and that Ailes has been heard repeatedly referring to James as a "fucking dope" and "Fredo."

So this could be it for Ailes.

Can you even imagine what Fox News would look like without Roger Ailes?

You know if I were Sean Hannity and Bill O'Reilly I might start sending my resume out.

Of course I the only thing I know for sure is that I am going to need some more popcorn.

I think I read that Ailes's contract runs out in 2016, not long before the election. With any luck he'll be gone then.

I don't know anything about James Murdoch except that he's a lying little crook like his father.

I do know that Lachlan Murdoch is weaker than water and I assume he would be completely embarrassed by FOX.

I'm more curious about why Murdoch is doing this. I'm aware he's older than Methuselah, but is he trying to clean up his act because he's feeling very mortal right now, and hoping to buy his way into heaven like he bought his US citizenship?

I just wish the old bastard would hurry up and croak. He's a major force of evil all over this world.

Kicking Ailes out of his job would be a wonderful thing.

  3. Pleeze, pleeze, gawd, is this change a crack in the thick shell of Fox News -- Dear James Rupert, let in some light and break this evil, fear-mongering "news" network apart. It is losing viewers (most dying off), so shut it down! You do not have to be your father's son. Do something good for the world!

  4. I don't see the FOX presentation changing any time soon. Those boys, when you come right down to it, are their father's sons and are believers in money. Hannity and O'Reilly are safe.

In a few months, we could see Fox and the Catholic church taking the lead on climate change and just beating the stupid out of the Republicans and their denier bullshit. (James also converted his dad on that issue.) This could also really raise hell with the clown car ahead of next years election. This is gonna' be fun.

Anyone who thinks the Murdoch sons will be an improvement on Roger Ailes is delusional.

The feelings of Americans throughout the country are changing. Republicans are not admired or supported as they once were.

We have so much racism today - that was brought on by the Republicans (Sarah Palin come sot mind!). We have Republicans trying to rig the voting polls so as to stop brown and black folks from voting! They have already been taken to Court in some instances and their efforts stopped!

Casting our votes will be so important in 2016! We ALL need to assist those around us to the polls (family members, friends, neighbors, etc.) - make sure they are registered, verify they have their proper ID and if not, assist them in getting it! Last but no least - should they need rides, provide them!

      This is gonna be fun!

I have learned to be careful about what I wish for. As soon as we all wished we had a different boss, a worse one came along.

Ailes is one of the worst things that has happened to the discourse in this country. The sooner he is gone the better.

It will be interesting to see what happens next, one can only hope for better but as other posters have mentioned, the acorn doesn't always fall far from the tree.

    Get plenty of popcorn !!

You're gonna need it while you're trolling the Instagram of a 14 year old girl and her sister.

55 year old sad little man seeking the truth on Instagram of 14 year old girl.

How long before you uncover sex tape ?

7:04 AM That is ironic, a Troll calling others trolls. If they don't want their business in the streets, then they should stop putting it all out there on Facebook and Instagram. As for a sex tape, everybody knows that Bristol Palin fucks Trial Daddies for a living. Who needs or wants to see Bristol's pregnant, slutty ass on tape? Take your stupid, jealous, trolling ass over to c4p where you have equals. You, assclown, contribute nothing here other than Palin nonsense. FOAD, Fool.

It would be so nice to see Hannity unseated from that chair, with his snide, smirky faces he makes when he mocks the President and Democrats. That guy should be in the unemployment line-up, living off his earnings and having to sell off his assets one by one until there's nothing left, so that disgusting self-rightious smirk of his is wiped off his face.

Then, send him tapes of Sarah's quotes, "buck up or stay in the truck" - "pull yourself up by your bootstraps' - "get some cajones", etc. etc. etc.

It's not going to change. They make too much money pedaling their sludge. Rupert, Jabba the Ailes, The Koch's, Sheldon Adelson are all old shitheads that we probably will be speaking of in the past tense sooner than later. It can't happen soon enough.

There is no room for hate or untruths in radio and TV.

Rush Limbaugh is really going down FINALLY!

And, if you look at the numbers of viewers for FOX - they are small in comparison to the total number of voters throughout America!

Conservatives are in trouble is my hunch. Can hardly wait to vote in 2016 and not mark my ballot for one Republican! They really need to be booted out of our 'least effective' U.S. Congress! They cannot be allowed to maintain the majority! They truly are an embarrassing bunch!

Good riddance to bad rubbish. Ailes may finally find out what it feels like to have been USED. May he have a horrible, destitute retirement.

I assume it is too much to hope that the 'boys' will put out better 'journalism' than their father?

I doubt Fox will change much without Ailes, except maybe a few more angry racist pasty white constipational scholars and bimbos with blonde hair for old farts to drool over. . If there's an audience, they'll do their best to keep doing what they do.
Doesn't say much about the American public, and there's no thing to stop them from sticking to what works.
I may be wrong, but I'm not holding my breath. They're to journalism what WWF is to real wrestling.

Roger looks like he is 100 yrs old in that photo. Time to retire.
Hannity has said repeatedly said he is moving to Texas soon. He's already sold his Hampton's home. O'Reilly will be left alone by the Murdock's as long as his ratings stay up.
