Ben & Jerry’s, a longstanding corporate champion of gay rights, is celebrating the Supreme Court’s ruling legalizing gay marriage throughout the U.S. by renaming one of its ice cream flavors. During the summer the chain will rename its Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough ice cream to “I Dough, I Dough” at participating stores. Proceeds from the ice cream sales will go to the Human Rights Campaign, a nonprofit that advocates for LGBT rights.
Gee they actually are going to shove gay marriage down our throats.
Though I guess technically we would be shoving it down out OWN throats.
Tricky.
Personally I love Ben and Jerry's ice cream, and cookie dough is one of my favorite flavors. So I might really enjoy shoving this down my throat.
Well, of course I'll buy some when it starts showing up, but B&J really broke my heart when they didn't continue with Scotchy Scotch Scotch; the proverbial taste of honey, now that it's gone I yearn for it worse than if I'd never had it. Do you know how rare a premium butterscotch ice cream is in a supermarket?
ReplyDeleteIf that's not bad enough my market hasn't had Haagen-Daz Chocolate Chocolate Chip in three months, and if that's discontinued too, I'm hanging a black wreath on the front door.
While we're on the topic, and regardless of season, why is it so difficult to find banana and egg nog ice creams anymore too?
Also too, please. This is IM, you know.
DeleteI never knew they had it! At least you got to taste it. I love butterscotch, the rill dill, as Sarah would say, not that nasty "butterscotch flavored" abomination.
DeleteNow I'm mourning for something I never knew even existed.
Not a huge ice cream eater, but for my money, Haagen-Daaz has perfected strawberry ice cream. Might be the best ice cream you can buy.
DeleteIce cream is like pizza (too me), don't over complicate it with a bunch of toppings and competing flavors and textures.
Haagen-Daaz strawberry. Trust me.
Real freedom means freedom for everyone.
ReplyDeleteAlex, I will take "Things that Bristol Palin will never say" for $400.
ReplyDeleteWhat is "Idough"?
ROFL!!!!!!!!!!
DeleteOuch, that's had to leave a mark! But it's so fitting! She'll be eating a lot of Ben and Jerry's, she's eating for two!
DeleteWill certain supermarket chains refuse to carry the new I Dough, I Dough -- on religious grounds?
ReplyDeletedviaries -- You may have to take this all the way to the SC, but you might try your store manager first, though. Start a local petition, IN the store -- that will get attention. :D
Somewhere, there has to be a conservative who had a coronary over the SCOTUS ruling for marriage equality whose favorite ice cream is this ice cream that's about to be renamed in celebration of marriage equality...
ReplyDeleteThis will kill them...
Damn you Gryphen, you're making it very hard to stay on my diet!
ReplyDeleteoh please oh please! Have it here in the Valley. I will buy and indulge in amazing expensive ice cream for sure!!!
ReplyDeleteI dough, I dough! <3

I've always been a fan of Ben and Jerry's product and clever names and recipes they make. When I do indulge, I'll be sure to try this one. Whoever does their marketing is a genius!!!!
