Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders addressed more than 11,000 people in the biggest rally of his campaign in Phoenix on Saturday, building on the growing tide of enthusiasm for his campaign. The
Democratic candidate for president spoke for nearly an hour, focusing on the central themes of his campaign, including income inequality, money in politics, and growing wages.
Though he remains 40 percentage points behind Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton in the Real Clear Politics average of polls, Sanders has seen a surge in interest among liberals in the Democratic base with a message of economic populism and a defiant tone.
As far as I can tell Hillary has only attracted crowds numbering around 5,000. Which is still quite impressive, but Bernie is blowing the doors off right now.
It should also be mentioned that this rally was in Arizona, which is not usually considered a bastion of liberalism to say the least.
We also know that Trump bragged about drawing larger crowds than Sanders and apparently drew one estimated to have been around 5,000 strong.
However we also know that he had to pay people to show up.
Somehow I doubt that Bernie Sanders has to pay people to overfill his venues.
A good night out and the Haters don't want to ruin it like they want to ruin everything else that's good. No idiots waving guns around, nothing except good people with good hearts who are there to be inspired by the vision of a good man.
ReplyDeleteIf you get the chance... go!
Bernie's campaign so far reminds me of Howard Dean's. Dean got big crowds, and a lot of interest early on.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately for us, the big money rules in politics, and Bernie probably won't survive the money and inertia of Hillary.
O/T took a stroll over the land of delusion and despair, to C4pee.
What a bunch of ignorant and sadly fooled Palinbots.
Many have already thrown in the towel with their hero $arah. strangely silent since Bristol's life blew up again.
Lots of infighting and nasty words being thrown about.
Good luck Palinbots ever thinking your idol Queen $arah willl ever run for dog catcher, never mind POTUS!
Dunno that it was Bristol's "life" that blew up....
DeleteYeah, they don't even attempt to mask their contempt for each other any more. The Bible quoting papa bear is the worst!
DeleteI would have voted for Dean, but by the time the primary reached my state he was no longer on the ticket.
DeleteYes, the waters of the republican party will part when sarah enters the race, LOL!
ReplyDeleteaaron66krohn • an hour ago
If Cruz does indeed share Sarah's "beliefs and agendas", then I should assume that when the Governor announces for President, he will voluntarily drop out of the race, and endorse the person whose "beliefs and agendas" he shares!
---------------
Do these people realize "diversity" doesn't include "crazy"?
I suppose any criticism of their Crazy Queen is not allowed ever by the vetting public. Just give her her crown and shut up!

Fox news going wall to wall coverage this morning attacking Trump. If Palin was in the race and spoke out about immigration... this would be happening too. Perhaps not about comments about McCain, but certainly about something else. The republican party talks about diversity.... yet tolerates none.
I was there in Phoenix on Saturday. Not only did he not pay people to be there, but some drove king distances to get there. I spoke with people from as far away as Bisbee, which is a 4-hour drive.
ReplyDeleteI was there in the area also. I just moved to another part of Arizona and was in Phoenix for work. Love it. And Bernie really has been drawing people legitimately. Hmm
DeleteI was in the arena to the left of th stage, shook hands with the candidate. We drove up from Tucson just to show support for his message - whether or not he wins. We need to start supporting the message and start driving the political conversation at least back to the center if not to the left. Hilary is actually center right. The whole system has shifted right.
DeleteSaw him last night in Housotn. Crowd of about 5,200, and it was the youngest crowd I've ever seen for a political event.
ReplyDeleteCan you say "Obama 2.0" ?
DeleteExcept Bernie actually articulates plans. I don't hate everything about Obama and do think he's handled some things well. But he's so young in many ways and really has no handle on big things. Bernie knows what he's talking about. I'm probably in agreement with him 85%
DeleteThe count I heard yesterday for Dallas was 6,000....in Dallas, TX folks!
ReplyDeleteI was sitting in a crowd of delusional old republikkan voters. And when Bernie came on a small small segment on good trusted fox no news? The comment is? I have never heard of him. No surprise there. They cant change the channel because of brainwashed white matter and cells. This should be a crime. Republikkkans have extorted money, promoted hate and endorse
ReplyDeleteHuh
DeleteThis weekend: 11,000 in Phoenix rally, 7,000 in Dallas, 5,000 in Houston.

Republicans For Bernie
ReplyDeletehttp://www.dailykos.com/story/2015/07/19/1403782/-More-Republicans-For-Bernie
I just got back from the Bernie rally at the downtown Dallas Sheraton Hotel. I have never seen such a large turnout in Dallas for a Democrat, let alone a Progressive Liberal one. It was truly inspiring!
The original large ballroom was overfilled, but there were three or four giant screens in the overflow area with an excellent sound system, so everyone could see and hear what Bernie had to say. It would be difficult to estimate the crowd size, but I would guesstimate that it was well over 5,000, which is amazing for this area and the lack of advanced notice for this event.
But the most amazing thing was the diversity of the crowd. There were all ages and all races. I don't mean to sound all Kumbaya, but it was absolutely electric the way everyone seemed to be in sync.

ReplyDeleteYou have a Johnnie Walker double at the bar. Then you have another. You're drunk. You get into your car and smash into another car killing some of the occupants. Does the family of the victims get to sue Johnnie Walker? I am appalled at the gun violence in the US, but Bernie has a point here.
DeleteOf course he does in your warped mind. What a hypocrite, but he's on your "side." HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA
DeleteGo Bernie

He said July 29 could be the country’s biggest online political event and his message could transcend political parties
“What we are trying, as part of creating a political revolution, is creating a grass-roots movement of millions and millions of people,” Sanders said. “On July 29 of this month, we will be holding what we believe will be the largest digital organizing event in the history of this country.
“We hope to have tens of thousands of people coming together to determine how they can develop movements in their local community,” he said.
“This campaign is not simply about electing me, I hope we accomplish that, but that ain’t the most important thing,” Sanders said. “The most important thing is building a political movement in which millions of people who have given up on the political process, including a lot of young people, get involved?”

To his Democratic critics who worry he will make Hillary go too far left and ruin her chances for election, I say without a people's hope for change, what alternative do you have -- another mealy-mouthed "liberal" candidate who will compromise anything to get elected. Comprising with the Republicans in the House does not work. Why can't Democrats learn this? Take a fucking stand for something!
ReplyDeleteWith crowds of Republicans going to hear Bernie in TEXAS for gawd's sake, this is a start of something big we haven't seen before. I can't remember any Republicans for Obama websites, can you?

How the National Rifle Association helped get Bernie Sanders elected
ReplyDeleteA few days before Election Day in 1990, the National Rifle Association sent a letter to its 12,000 members in Vermont, with an urgent message about the race for the state’s single House seat.
Vote for the socialist, the gun rights group said. It’s important.
“Bernie Sanders is a more honorable choice for Vermont sportsmen than Peter Smith,” wrote Wayne LaPierre, who was — and still is — a top official at the national NRA, backing Sanders over the Republican incumbent.
That was odd. Sanders was the ex-hippie ex-mayor of Burlington, running as an independent because the Democrats weren’t far enough left. He had never even owned a gun.
But that year, he was the enemy of the NRA’s enemy.

I've been obsessed with politics since high school, but Bernie Sanders is the first candidate whose campaign I've donated money towards.

I am with Bernie. Hillery, I don't know. Kind of don't trust her. Actually, no, I don't trust her. But I trust her more than any GOP-TPer.
ReplyDeleteThrilled to hear Bernie is doing so well in Texas!
