Local law enforcement is accusing armed protesters who seized an Oregon wildlife refuge of harassment and intimidation.
In a statement Monday, Harney County Sheriff Dave Ward described an "uptick" in reports of "law enforcement officers and community members being followed home; of people sitting in cars outside their homes, observing their movements and those of their families; and of people following them and their families as they move around the community."
Ward added, "While not direct physical threats, these activities are clearly designed to try to intimidate."
Federal employees of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge, the site occupied by the protestors, also reported "a number of uncomfortable instances" of "unknown" outsiders idling outside their homes, watching them and initiating debates about their employment.
"Many of these confrontations are taking place as their employees are grocery shopping, running errands with their families and trying to lead their day-to day lives," Ward said.
Gee what tough guys.

In other news a judge has said that the county will charge Bundy and his associates up to $70,000 a day for the increased security.
So yes this little occupation is working out perfectly.
P.S. Well it looks like I got fooled by a parody site as well. In an earlier version I shared a story that came from a site that seemed legit, but turned out to be having a laugh.
Oh well that kind of thing is bound to happen eventually.

The last time the Bundys held a misinformation festival on their ranch, there were loaded weapons pointed at Federal officials. Nothing happened to anybody. One arrest was made, on an unrelated warrant. So it's no wonder they think they're untouchable.

No bird watchers = no money. I don't think folks realize how much the majority of westerners take advantage of federal land for recreation. States like Texas that very very little public land swarm to NM and Colorado for recreation, because those states are rich in public lands that EVERYONE can enjoy, not just ranchers, miners, loggers, and oil/gas companies. Bundy's followers may still be occupying, but they are losing the PR battle.

That "using land and not paying" was what started the last confrontation with the Bundys. Everybody who uses public lands is supposed to pay grazing fees. They don't want to. Little Bundy was the proud recipient of a $500,000 FEDERAL loan back a few years. Which, no doubt, he has no intention of paying back.

The story about the old man, while funny, is not true. It comes from a Canadian paper that is their version of the The Onion. I wish it was true. this group is most definitely a group of domestic terrorist and I do NOT understand why they have not been arrested. Yes, white people need to stand up and be counted as being horrified by these Neanderthals and the kid gloves with which they are being treated. One problem is that these guys profess to be willing to die to make their point - which is very much a terrorist move - but our Federal agents should not be forced to put their lives on the line to round up these idiots. When the stakes escalate to death, only diplomacy will extract all from the corner they've occupied.
