During Tuesday night’s State of the Union address, President Barack Obama slipped in a well-placed subtle zing against climate deniers by pointing to our nation’s history of facing adversity.
After a rousing section of oratory that briefly touched on the overreach of big banks and the need for small-businesses in the American economy, the President shifted to the role of innovation and science.
The crack at first did not seem to fall on the entire House Chamber, but cameras caught several knowing Democrats — including Elizabeth Warren, Al Franken, and next year’s potential address speaker Bernie Sanders — smirking along at the President’s jab.
Now see THAT is the kind of ninja like pointed remarks that Obama is really good at slipping into his speeches. The only problem is that a whole swath of the electorate is simply not sharp enough to pick up on them.
I call those people Republican voters.
You know the same people who invited this lunatic to sit in the audience during the State of the Union speech.
Let's face it even with her hair stacked that high, the remark went right over her head.
By the way another remark that the President made during his speech was this:
"Our businesses have created jobs every single month since it (Obamacare) became law."
As it turns out that is actually completely true.
Yeah, yet another fact that the conservatives refuse to accept.
Kim what's her name looks like a bag lady.
ReplyDeleteI think she had just won an ugly sweater contest an hour prior to the SOTU Address.
DeleteIt's Kim Vinegar Tits. Google is your friend.
Delete@3:35PM -- Please correct your post; it has an extra word in it -- "sweater".
DeleteKim Davis' salary surely provides her with enough money to buy a presentable outfit. But then, as with Palin, money can't buy class.
DeleteDoes she not own appropriate clothes or does she simply not know how to dress appropriately for events?
DeleteWhat gets me is that her puppet masters had to go to OHIO to grift her a ticket. What about her own Kentucky representatives? They didn't want her there?
Did she bring Jethro Goober in his dress overalls?
Looks like Inhofe sitting above the PBS News Hour logo. Denier extraordinaire.
ReplyDeleteI finally got a chance to sit and watch/listen to the President's final State of the Union address. Just now, as a matter of fact.
ReplyDeleteI am proud to say I have observed over 40 such speeches. And of ALL of those speeches, I need to say this one was the very best of them all. Just as one example, when he began to speak about the fourth point he wanted to expound upon, it was obvious what the depth of his love for this country is. The faith he has in it and its people.
I swear I thought I saw several people in that audience close to tears as he spoke of his love and faith in us.
Of course, there were also those who didn't give a DAMN about ANYTHING he said. They thought he was just plain wrong about everything BECAUSE he is who he is.
The naysayers. The liars. The people who would be tempted to shoot their own mother if she decided to think MAYBE the man had a point!
I am proud to call that man my President! And I take great pride in saying I voted for the man in both elections.
I only wish I could have the opportunity to say to his face, "Thank you Barrack Hussein Obama for being the man you are and doing such a great job in the White House."
I was moved to blinking back tears several times, Leland, and I agree with your every last sentiment!
DeleteMe too - so enjoy knowing I voted for him both times! He's an outstanding individual in every way!
DeleteThe man hit it out of the park last night, pure and simple.
ReplyDeleteI don't know about anyone else, but I am also enjoying the backlash that Haley is getting for her "rebuttal" also too.
Loved GOPers -sullen and unipressed by our walk on the moon!
DeletePoor Haley. The internal GOP haters will make sure she isn't put on the ticket as V.P. Probably just as well.
DeleteThis was a lovely opportunity to bring back that clip of Rubio guzzling water in the middle of his rebuttal. Man, that never gets old. So "presidential".
Deniers of scientific facts?
ReplyDeleteLike the Flint Michigan mass lead poisonings?
Well shit maybe just got real there. No waiting for the neurological damage, not when they are dead from Legionnaires' disease.
"87 cases, 10 fatal, of Legionella bacteria found in Flint area; connection to water crisis unclear" http://www.mlive.com/news/detroit/index.ssf/2016/01/legionaires_disease_spike_disc.html
I'm not sure if it was a case of denial of scientific facts (they didn't say that lead wasn't poisonous) as much as pure corruption and and evil cover-up. They said the water was fine.
DeleteWTF They knew about the outbreak and deaths for a year and a half?
Delete“This is something that has been actively worked on with our federal partners since those spikes were identified over a year and a half ago,” Michigan Chief Medical Executive Dr. Eden Wells said at a Detroit news conference.
“Not all people necessarily get sick when exposed,” Wells said. “Those who are elderly or have underlying immune system problems are more susceptible to getting it.”
http://www.detroitnews.com/story/news/politics/2016/01/13/flint-snyder/78748494/
"Snyder said he became aware of the information a couple of days ago and thought it should be shared with the public."
So this is why he called out the Michigan National Guard and FEMA yesterday? Since they had been trying to figure out who to blame for the Legionalla outbreak since 2014?
Probably 85% of the dipshits that voted these Republicans into office are science deniers.
DeleteYou know. Burn massive amounts of oil and coal and natural gas and not worry about/deny the pollution and global warming consequences.
This kind of voter votes for purely corrupt and evil politicians. Who else could pander to voters like the typical Republican voter? The Republican pols have to either believe the same nonsense, or act like the crazies are sane in order to get their votes
America's out on all of this is to make sure we do not reelect Republicans currently holding seats in the U.S. Congress.
DeleteAs to Alaska - Lisa Murkowski and Don Young need to go!!! They have been a part of the 'do nothing' U.S. Congress for way too long! Young is too old for the job and it's way past time for the cantankerous old man to go! Lisa speaks out of both sides of her mouth!
She came near to losing her seat last go around and it's way past time to stop her completely in her tracks.
Alaska can and needs to turn blue again!
I see Kim wore her fancy hoodie-thing.
ReplyDeleteShe probably even washed her hair.
whats up with that undershirt? Mormons wear symbolic undergarments, and so do some orthodox jewish people but she isn't either.
DeleteOr somebody hosed her down.
Delete"whats up with that undershirt?"
DeleteIt's a specially treated undergarment designed to hold the stink in. The main purpose is to avoid attracting flies.
Too bad she didn't cut that hair. Guess Kim prefers the dumpy, frumpy, I want to look much older than I am, look.
DeleteUndergarment?
DeleteDid she wear her dress longjohns?
Good Read>

I just heard that Maryland experienced the warmest December on record
ReplyDeleteI don't know if this will be covered in the national news. But I live in Omaha. And the president came here for a speech. But first he stopped at a woman's house who had wrote the president a letter about how she worries about her sons future because of climate change
ReplyDeleteI watched it on local news. The president was awesome. He spent almost an hour meeting this woman inside her house. And then he stopped and chatted with all the neighbors who had gathered.
It was really awesome!
It was on the national news :)
DeleteIt is interesting that the First Lady's guest to the SOTU address have always been people one would be proud to meet and get acquainted with. The GOP brings only naysayers. Obviously no one in the GOP has any interest in all that is good and positive in this country. What a bunch of sour, grouchy losers they are. Oscar the Grouch is a real charmer compared to nasty venomous-looking Paul Ryan.
ReplyDeleteBeaglemom
Beaglemom
We loved every second of it!!! Potus is quick on his feet and his delivery is perfect.
ReplyDeleteWho the fuck dresses Kim Davis?Walt Disney?
ReplyDeleteThe makeup artists for Star Wars did her hair.
DeleteLooks like little miss Kim is pretending she is Dolly Parton in her coat of many colors.
ReplyDeleteActually she looks more like RAM's older sister.
DeleteNeed prayers my 5 yr old son bit a kid hard today at school and then when we were in the deans office he threw a plaque sitting on the desk at the teacher and yelled "you're a loser" at the dean. #boys
ReplyDeleteHmm. Sounds like you have a real problem on your hands. I wish you the best of luck because going forward it's going to get worse.
