Morality is not determined by the church you attend nor the faith you embrace. It is determined by the quality of your character and the positive impact you have on those you meet along your journey

Just a reminder that there is a difference.
"With or without religion, good people can behave well and bad people can do evil; but for good people to do evil — that takes religion." Steven Weinberg.
My husband stopped attending church 30 years ago, and he is the most honest, moral, and upright person I know. My kids line up with him: no church, no affairs, no drugs, no hitting of their children, no lies, no guns-just good people who are well-liked for their work ethic, their parenting skills, and their empathy for others. In other words, the exact opposite of what we see from the 'conservative Christian GOP' waving the Bible and their guns. Many many people do what's right because it is the right thing to do, not because some preacher (or their parents) threatens them weekly.
Really liked today's educational PSA, Gryph. The hubby liked it. too We come here for the atheism, even if our forms of progressiveness seem to differ at times.
If religion and the concept of hell is what keeps someone from doing evil...then they are an evil person at heart. You can be an atheist and want to do good and help others, then you are truly a good person...
I think the world would be a better place if people accepted and celebrated our differences and realize life's too short to try and change someone else's life to mirror theirs.
The grove and synogogue of satan must giddy today.
ReplyDeleteApparently, Satan stole your verb... bad Satan!

SallyinMi -You are "blessed" -- there should be a non-Christian word for what you have -- but it sounds like love.
