Chair of the House Oversight Committee, who was champing at the bit to investigate Hillary Clinton if she won the election, has no intention of investigating Donald Trump.

Fair? Wait who said I had to be fair?
Courtesy of the New York Post:

Back in October, Representative Jason Chaffetz, chair of the House Oversight Committee, had big plans for 2017. After leading the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s private email server, he positioned himself to be President Clinton’s greatest foe in Congress, bragging to the Washington Post that he would spend the next four years probing her alleged misdeeds.

“It’s a target-rich environment,” Chaffetz said. “Even before we get to Day One, we’ve got two years’ worth of material already lined up. She has four years of history at the State Department, and it ain’t good.”

Even after the election, Chaffetz said he had a “duty and obligation” to continue investigating the former secretary of State. However, he claimed his committee would investigate President-elect Trump with equal fervor. “I am optimistic that a Trump administration would actually be cooperative,” Chaffetz said. “The Obama administration has given us the stiff arm every single step of the way. I think a new administration would actually work with us to quickly get to the truth, learn what we need to learn and then fix it.”

It’s unclear why Chaffetz thinks the candidate who refused Chaffetz’s call to release his tax returns will be more responsive as president, but so far the Utah congressman isn’t even asking for a response.

So the fact that Donald Trump plans to continue overseeing his business while President, does not raise any red flags?

How about the fact that there is overwhelming evidence that the Russian government hacked government computers in order to help him get elected?

Nothing?

Okay how about the fact that he is allowing his daughter to sit in on meetings with foreign heads of state?

Still nothing?

Well what about the fact that the House Democrats wrote a letter asking for an investigation in Trump's financial holdings to see if there were any potential conflicts of interest?

So that doesn't rise to the level of requiring an investigation either?

Would it help if Trump was caught using a private e-mail server?

Nah, it wouldn't would it?

No, unless Donald Trump changed his last name to "Clinton" and suddenly became a Democrat there is literally nothing he could do to convince the Republican led oversight committee to launch an investigation.

And that pretty much tells you everything you need to know about whether Donald Trump is likely to be impeached or not.

I'm watching Rachel right now and it's just one example after another of Trump nominating/appointing billionaires (all that complaining about Hillary's so-called pay to play and Goldman Sachs influence...), interviews with a good # of people tied to Fox,and oldies but goodies who have a history of trying to defund and take away people's rights.

I just don't see the rest of the MSM handling all this stuff in depth like MSNBC does and I don;t see the next four years covered thoroughly enough by anyone but MSNBC. There is so much to be reporting and to be keeping an eye on. And we know that Trump supporters can hear the truth and shrug is off and make excuses. If anything is ever going to get through their pathetic heads, all the MSM needs to step up their game, bigly.

Journalists are warning that President-elect Donald Trump is considering not having a White House press office, doing no press briefings, closing down the White House press room, and only having a single pool reporter covering the president. In other words, Trump is kicking around the idea of removing the press from the White House.

Sanders is correct. There is no way that Trump would nominate a man who is deeply committed to cutting Social Security and Medicare if he had any intention of keeping the programs fully funded and in place. The nomination of Rep. Price to HHS indicates that the Trump administration is going to be targeting two programs that are beloved by the American people.

Trump has signaled that he is about to make the one move that will turn Bernie Sanders into an immediate and lifelong political enemy of the incoming administration. Sen. Sanders will fight tooth and nail to protect Social Security and Medicare.

Donald Trump is coming for the Social Security and Medicare of those who voted for him. Democrats tried to warn seniors that this would happen if they voted for Trump, and it looks like all of their warnings are about to come true.

Tom Price isn’t coming to HHS to save Social Security. Price is coming to destroy it.

Latest Cabinet Picks Are Proof That Trump Never Intended To ‘Drain The Swamp’

Sorry, Trump voters. The swamp your man promised to drain is only getting deeper.

After more than a year of hearing Donald Trump voters argue that a tax-dodging billionaire would be a working class savior, the president-elect is proving that he never intended to “drain the swamp” of special interests – instead, he wants to fill it up even more.

According to the New York Times, Trump will choose Steven Mnuchin – ex-Goldman Sachs banker and hedge fund manager – to be his treasury secretary. Mnuchin has financial connections to Hollywood but no political experience.

    The swamp-filling doesn’t stop there.

As early as Wednesday, Trump is expected to announce billionaire Wilbur Ross as his choice for secretary of commerce, NBC News reported. Ross specialized in selling off steel companies and has been referred to as the “King of Bankruptcy.”

To put the icing on the cake, the president-elect chose Georgia Rep. Tom Price to be the health and human services secretary in his administration. Price is a proponent of privatizing Medicare and abolishing Medicaid for millions of low-income Americans.

That’s right, Trump supporters: You’ve been duped.

Paul Krugman: 5.5 million Trump voters could lose health care — because they voted for him

aul Krugman Tuesday calculated the number of Donald Trump voters who voted themselves out of health care by supporting the president-elect, finding that as many as 5.5 million people could lose access to health care thanks to their own vote.

Noting Trump’s choice of Rep. Tom Price (R-GA) to lead the Department of Health and Human Services “probably means the death of Obamacare,” Krugman argues at least 3.5 and 4 million people “just shot themselves in the face.”

As Krugman notes, 6 million non-Hispanic whites gained insurance between 2013 and 2015; considering 66 percent of white people without a college degree (and therefore likely uninsured before Obamacare) voted for Trump, Krugman reasons at least 3.96 million non-college educated Trump voters will lose their insurance.

    3. Except Obama was never going to do it. Never any indication he would. That was a figment of their imagination.

Trump on the other hand believes it. He's SAID it. And that isn't the only amendment he is against.

Donald Trump has no understanding of the Constitution that he is going to swear to defend and uphold. He will commit perjury on January 20.

He not only wants to muzzle the press, he wants to revoke citizenship or imprison people who burn the flag. (And punish women who have an abortion.)

Donald is all about ignoring Constitutional rights. He's got the Republicans in Congress to help him. Eventually he'll have the Supreme Court to back him up.

Democracy is over and our Republic has fallen. We'll soon be living in a Fascist state controlled by a tyrant.

Sessions appears not to recognize that disabilities also include the vast number of less outwardly visible ones, such as autism and other developmental disabilities, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, dyslexia, mood disorders, cognitive disabilities, personality disorders, dysgraphia, sensory processing disorder and other “invisible” disabilities.

Sessions then identifies the biggest problem with IDEA as an obstacle to effective “discipline” in school. “We are telling special children with physical disabilities, or disabilities as defined by the federal law, that they don’t have to adhere to the same standards other children do,” Sessions said. “Right in the classroom, we create, by federal law, two separate standards for American citizens.”

But his statements completely neglect what the purpose of special education is: to accommodate the needs of children with different abilities precisely because they cannot, developmentally or physically or cognitively, adhere to the standards set for other students.

Trump Turns Inauguration Into Pay-For-Play Scheme, Sells Access To Highest Bidder

As power players in D.C. jockey for influence over the incoming president, Trump appears to be happy to give it to them.

...For donors who contribute six or more figures to his inaugural committee, Donald Trump is offering up-close access to himself and other top officials, including Mike Pence, according to a document obtained by the Center for Public Integrity.

The document shows that access to Trump and members of his incoming cabinet will be sold to the highest bidder.

More from the Center for Public Integrity report:

Donors in the “$1,000,000+” category will receive four tickets to a “leadership luncheon” billed as an “exclusive inaugural event” for donors in that category and featuring “select Cabinet appointees and House and Senate leadership to honor our most generous inaugural supporters,” according to a brochure obtained by the Center for Public Integrity.

They’ll also get four tickets to a dinner with Vice President Mike Pence and his wife, Karen, and eight tickets to a “ladies luncheon” billed as “an opportunity to meet the ladies of the first families.” In addition, they’ll receive tickets to a series of other dinners and receptions featuring Trump, Pence and other officials, and eight “premier access” tickets to a black-tie inaugural ball attended by the president, vice president and their wives.

Depending on the size of the donation, donors can land anything from a lunch with Trump’s cabinet nominees to a candlelight dinner featuring Trump and his wife, as well as Mike and Karen Pence.

This is essentially a pay-for-play scheme. If you donate enough money, you’ll get penciled into the president-elect’s busy inauguration schedule.

He said Clinton’s vice presidential nominee, Tim Kaine, was “owned by the banks” and that he, Trump, would break them up. Trump closed his campaign with an ad bashing Goldman Sachs and George Soros, using classically anti-Semitic phrases.

And now, according to The New York Times, ABC and CBS, the president-elect has chosen a second-generation Goldman Sachs partner who worked for George Soros before starting a hedge fund and buying IndyMac, a failing California bank that made billions while foreclosing on homeowners after the financial crisis.

Steven Mnuchin’s takeover of IndyMac is a story about everything Americans have come to hate about how the financial crisis was allowed to unfold ― ordinary people panicking, savvy investors pouncing, a government guarantee that saved a bank but didn’t even try to keep people in their homes, a clever rebranding, rampant foreclosures, billions of dollars in profits. And now, the cruel punchline: The man behind it is being nominated for treasury secretary by a self-proclaimed billionaire populist."

  31. And it gets worse.

"Congress is ready to act. On Wednesday, the House will consider the 21st Century Cures Act, a bill that would commit billions of dollars to medical research while sending $1 billion to states to help combat heroin and painkiller addiction and recovery.

But there’s a complication: Instead of cracking down on the pharmaceutical companies that fueled the boom in opioid abuse, lawmakers are rewarding the industry. No health care-related bill of this size could move through Congress without the support of Big Pharma. The authors of the 21st Century Cures Act earned the industry’s support by including regulatory rollbacks that drugmakers have long sought and creating cheaper and quicker paths for drug approval by reducing safeguards. It’s as if the fire department had to pay off the arsonist to get permission to put out a fire.

Lawmakers have been left with a Hobson’s choice: The bill would make billions of dollars available for medical research. It would fund lofty goals, such as precision medicine, a White House initiative to map the human brain and Vice President Joe Biden’s “Cancer Moonshot.” It would save lives. But it would also undermine regulations that patient advocacy groups say are essential for making sure medical and drug research is conducted ethically and safely — meaning it could cost lives, too."

"On Monday evening, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) denounced the measure in aggressive terms, calling it the result of “corruption” — fighting words on the Senate floor — and singling out Republican Majority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky for taking millions from a donor with an interest in the bill’s passage. Warren was hoping to make a battle around the Cures Act the moment that Democrats announced, in the wake of Donald Trump’s election, that they were standing up and fighting against a broken and corrupt system.

“The American people didn’t give Democrats majority support so we could come back to Washington and play dead,” she said on the floor. “They didn’t send us here to whimper, whine, or grovel. Now they are watching, waiting and hoping ― hoping we show some spine and start fighting back when Congress completely ignores the message of the American people and returns to all its same old ways.” "

I'll tell you exactly what is going to happen.

The funds will dry up right after January 20, but the deregulation will remain, putting us all in jeopardy.
