Not petty, not defensive, simply encouraging and filled with hope.
Just like this presidency.
Yep. I'm going to miss my President and his family. America is losing a class act, soon to be replaced by a class clown, complete with gold gilding, on cheap Russian metal.

I respect and admire President Obama so much. I will miss him greatly.
ReplyDeleteYes. Exactly. And it was tear-inducing seeing the Obama family arrive back on the mainland in the fog and knowing that this is the final stretch.
ReplyDeleteAnd then there's Trump. The total ass.
And Trump just had to tweet today about Chicago (needing Fed help if the mayor there can't handle things). It had already been announced that BO's goodbye address would be made from Chicago. Trump made his comment several hours later but surely very shortly after learning of Obama’s announcement. Trump can't stand not being the center of attention--it's so bad that he can't let a piece of Obama news go without a remark back. I think Obama’s return to Chicago is, as Trump sees it, something that one-ups Trump because it shows Obama welcome in a city that coward Trump hasn’t stepped foot in (he was to visit at the end of Nov. but cancelled). Obama’s speech decision shows his sense of decency, and to Trump that sense of decency and the fact that he is welcome in his hometown--unlike Trump, who NYC has scorned!--is the same as superiority, and Trump just cannot stand it. He has so loved ridiculing Obama’s prior city of residence, so he just had to make that new Chicago comment today. Trump has slammed Chicago all year and one more comment was not necessary. He made it today because for him it’s all about ego. He just can’t stop competing with Obama and Hillary. It's happened so many times since 11/8! Seriously, if Trump beat someone in a race and the person keeled over and died at the finish line, Trump would be upset that he didn’t get a chance to rub in the win. If he lost to that person and the guy keeled, Trump would start yelling at and kicking the corpse. Trump is sick.
Paragraphs, please!
DeleteNo one will EVER equate them. I have never been so proud to have them as my First Family representing this country for the past eight years. They were THAT good, now we get drained swamp of bottom feeders.
ReplyDeleteClass all the way, right to the end...
ReplyDeleteTrump, in contrast, just HAD to mention *this* at his Pay-to-Play NYE party at Mar-a -Lago...

I am Thankful for President Obama and the First Family. I believe and trust he will remain in office until the hacking investigation is over and the correct winner is vetted and confirmed by congress. Mr Trump nor pense cannot be confirmed under the current conflicts of interest and the connecting hacking charges underway being reported.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a nice dream. However I think you are in denial. In a big way. And I hate to say that.
DeleteNope. Trump will be sworn in. We're now living in the post-fact era that we're stuck in until something earth-shattering happens. Literally, earth-shattering.

ReplyDeleteDonald Trump is a jackass that shouldn't even be in the same sentence as President Obama.
And, Donald Trump should not be holding the office of potus effective January, 2017! (I'm 5:49 PM)
DeleteThat last tweet chokes me up. I can hardly believe it will all be over in less than three weeks.
ReplyDeleteLife without President Obama on the news each day will take some getting used to.
It's been the privilege of my life to call Barack Obama my President. And to have his beautiful family represent our country with such dignity and class. I'll miss them.

DeleteAnd of course the very first thing the GOP Congress is doing is gutting the ethics office. Wow, If people didn't know where the GOP and Trump stood before, they know now. The Congress is laying down a red carpet for Trump by making this move.
ReplyDeleteYou may recall the tweets from there trying to get Lardass to see that he absolutely has to divest himself of his holdings. The changes being made to the ethics office include a switch over to a House committee that will be headed by the GOP. There will be no independent ethics office anymore. This is a first step in freeing Trump up to do whatever the hell he pleases.
It will get little attention in the news--nothing that is crucial to the continued existence of a real United States gets adequate coverage anymore.
https://www.yahoo.com/news/house-gop-votes-gut-independent-ethics-office-014247453--politics.html
Phew. Sorry, I had things wrong here. The office that has been after Trump to divest--and that will still exist--is the Government Ethics Office, and the one being gutted is the Office of Congressional Ethics.
DeleteThis doesn't make what is happening in Congress any better. It's a move that the GOP says disallows anonymous complaints so that no one can get away with any accusation, but there are all sorts of problems connected to this, including that now people will not feel they can step forward and make reports. And like with all things GOP, it's about continued corruption.
Well, they do have to be prepared for accepting influence peddling.
DeleteTrump doesn't give a chit about unifying our country. He cares more about how he looks on camera. PERIOD. It's the biggest reality TV show on earth. Getting rich is all his kids and corrupt constituents who want to make our country into the United Corporate Sates of America care about. PERIOD. The supreme court has seen to that. The top 1% win again.
ReplyDeleteThe FASCISTS in the BananaRepublican party aren't going to stop at censorship. Now they are throwing ethics out the window.
ReplyDeletehttps://www.yahoo.com/news/house-gop-votes-gut-independent-ethics-office-014247453--politics.html
"House Republicans on Monday voted to eviscerate the Office of Congressional Ethics, the independent body created in 2008 to investigate allegations of misconduct by lawmakers after several bribery and corruption scandals sent members to prison."
"The package also includes a means for Republican leaders to punish lawmakers if there is a repeat of the Democratic sit-in last summer over gun control."
""We all know the so-called House Ethics Committee is worthless for anything other than a whitewash — sweeping corruption under the rug. That's why the independent Office of Congressional Ethics has been so important. The OCE works to stop corruption and that's why Speaker Ryan is cutting its authority. Speaker Ryan is giving a green light to congressional corruption."
The OCE was created in March 2008 after the cases of former Rep. Randy "Duke" Cunningham, R-Calif., who served more than seven years in prison on bribery and other charges; as well as cases of former Rep. Bob Ney, R-Ohio, who was charged in the Jack Abramoff lobbying scandal and pleaded guilty to corruption charges and former Rep. William Jefferson, D-La., convicted on corruption in a separate case."
"The new group would no longer be able to release information to the public, employ anyone “for a position involving communications with the public,” or directly contact law enforcement without approval. It would also be prohibited from investigating anonymous complaints."
Delete"The vote took place in secret, by anonymous ballot and behind closed doors, so it’s not possible to know which representatives approved of the measure."
"As Schuman points out, another puzzling aspect of the rules change is the short notice. Republicans are fundamentally changing an ethics agency just hours before a vote, while hardly anyone in the public is watching."

Trump's inauguration committee claims they have 40 groups lined up for their parade.
ReplyDeletehttps://www.yahoo.com/news/alabama-band-march-inauguration-igniting-controversy-155314525.html
"The marching band of Alabama's oldest private, historically black liberal arts college has accepted an invitation to perform at President-elect Donald Trump's inaugural parade, organizers said.
Talladega College's band will march at Trump's inauguration as other historically black schools such as Howard University, which performed at President Barack Obama's first inaugural parade, said they won't be marching in the Jan. 20 event."
"The Presidential Inaugural Committee announced Friday that the Talladega College Marching Tornadoes was among 40 groups, including high school bands and military organizations, scheduled to perform in the parade. Some members of the Marist College band in upstate New York, also scheduled to perform at the inauguration, say they won't participate, a school spokesman said Monday."
"About six to eight Marist band members among more than 100 have said they won't perform, Cannon said. He said there won't be any repercussions for those students, and they will still have a place in the band when it returns from Washington, D.C."

It's happening.
ReplyDeletehttp://us.blastingnews.com/news/2016/12/we-the-people-concert-to-compete-with-trump-s-inauguration-001348953.html
"Meanwhile, a massive counter-inaugural event, “We the People,” is taking shape that could be one of the biggest shows since Woodstock. Donald Trump surely is aware that more Americans hate and fear him than ever before for any incoming president in modern history. "
"According to Politico, Mark Ross, son of the late Time Warner CEO Steve Ross, is planning a massive concert for Jan. 20, 2017. That Friday just happens to be an important day for #Donald Trump as his Inauguration ceremony it set to take place at the very same time. According to Politico Playbook, plenty of A-list type acts are very eager to participate in the "We the People" concert. This event is purposely being planned to upstage the President-elect's big day. Ross, who happens to be a big Democratic supporter, states that he is putting together an inauguration day show. It just so happens to coincide with the President-elect's plans. Performances will be announced shortly."
Miami. I'll bet the weather will be a LOT nicer on January 20.
""We’re working hard on bringing together the best possible talent." Some names being thrown around are big Hillary Clinton supporters like Bruce Springsteen, Katy Perry, Jennifer Lopez, Jon Bon Jovi, Lady Gaga, Beyonce, and Jay-Z. No acts have officially been announced."
I hope Ross not only pulls it off, but that one of the networks steps up to put broadcast it opposite the Inauguration. The battle of the ratings.
Nothing like yet another defeat for the LOSER in Chief.
....but that one of the networks steps up to put broadcast it opposite the Inauguration. The battle of the ratings....
DeleteOK -- media. Time to put up or shut up. Just how tied are your hands, just what threats has Tbully made to your networks, or what bribes.
Like FLOTUS said, now we know what NO hope feels like.
ReplyDeleteI mailed my letter of appreciation to President Obama - in my pjs, my fuzzy robe, my winter coat and boots, I trudged out to the mailbox and put the letter inside. A gloomy day, one of many this season, but the birds were singing which was a real treat.
ReplyDeleteI thought that President Obama has looked sad recently and decided to write to him to thank him, Vice President Biden, their families and their administration members for working so hard over the last eight years on behalf of all Americans.
Maybe lots of us should words of appreciation to him. I think it would please him as he prepares to start the rest of his life.
