The Republican led House Judiciary and Oversight committees have just announced the opening of a new investigation pertaining to Hillary Clinton's emails. No, I am not kidding.

Do you seriously have nothing better to do with your time?
Courtesy of The Hill:

The chairmen of the House Judiciary and Oversight committees announced on Tuesday a joint investigation into how the FBI handled last year's investigation into Hillary Clinton's private email server.

"Decisions made by the Department of Justice in 2016 have led to a host of outstanding questions that must be answered," House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) and House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) said in a joint statement.

The two Republican leaders said they have questions about the FBI's decision to openly declare the bureau's investigation into Clinton's handling of classified information, while quietly investigating Trump campaign associates.

They are also interested to know why the FBI decided to formally notify Congress of the probe on two separate occasions; why the FBI — rather than the Justice Department — recommended that Clinton not be charged after the investigation concluded; and the reasoning behind their timeline for announcing such decisions.

"The Committees will review these decisions and others to better understand the reasoning behind how certain conclusions were drawn. Congress has a constitutional duty to preserve the integrity of our justice system by ensuring transparency and accountability of actions taken," their statement continued.

Congress has a constitutional responsibility to make sure that taxpayer money is spent on important investigations that safeguard or benefit the American people.

These do nothing of the sort.

While those two probes are going on Devin Nunes of the House Intelligence Committee is also launching his own investigation:

The embattled chairman of the House Intelligence Committee announced on Tuesday that he has opened an investigation into a deal struck between the US and a predominantly Russia-owned uranium company based in Canada, Uranium One, while Hillary Clinton was secretary of state.

Devin Nunes' announcement came one week after The Hill published a report on a "racketeering scheme ... designed to benefit former President Bill Clinton's charitable foundation during the time Secretary of State Hillary Clinton served on a government body that provided a favorable decision to Moscow."

The New York Times reported in 2015 that "as the Russians gradually assumed control of Uranium One in three separate transactions from 2009 to 2013, Canadian records show, a flow of cash made its way to the Clinton Foundation." The Times' reporting built off of "Clinton Cash," a book by conservative author Peter Schweizer that the Clintons dismissed as partisan conspiracy-mongering.

So instead of investigating the actual and dangerous attempts by Russia to undermine our democracy, or the very real possibility that they were successfully in doing that while aided by members of the Trump campaign, THIS is how the Republicans in Congress believe their time is best spent.

I think this tweet more or less sums up my feelings on this.
Seems fair.

If you want to know more about what triggered this "new" investigation by Nunes, Politifact has an excellent summation.

Spoiler alert: It's essentially another nothing burger.

Huh... apparently it was Team Hillary that was colluding with foreign agents attempting to sway an election! How about that!

    1. You do know the difference between opposition research and a foreign government interfering to get a preferred candidate elected right?

And remember before any Clinton or DNC lawyer paid any money to bring the dossier to light, it had already been funded by at least one of Trump's Republican primary opponents.

And by the way I would think that ANYBODY who helped to reveal that Trump is in Putin's pocket deserves a standing ovation not condemnation.

Well, once again G, guess we'll just have to wait and see how this all pans out.

And yes, it is widely known this was originally funded by one of Trumps opponents, probably Bush, during the primaries. They dropped it though (probably when they realized it was fakery). And that is when Team Hillary picked up the ball and funding.... Which included payoffs to Russian 'sources' for stories. (Are you noting the resemblance to what you have been claiming Donald is going to get taken down for?)

This whole thing could flip fast.

Hillary is not and will never be POTUS so the repercussions are rather nonexistent if indeed she did finance the Steele dossier.

Who really cares are this point? The information contained within is obviously not damaging to Trump; if it was it would have already seen the light of day.

You can't show me an election where this kind of shit didn't go down on both sides, it's politics-as-usual.

The ranking member of the House Intel Committee, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) exposed the new Republican investigations of Clinton and Obama for being the Trump led Russia distractions that they are.

In a statement provided to PoliticusUSA, Rep. Schiff said:

Today, the House Majority announced two new investigations of Secretary Clinton and the Obama Administration. These investigations were initiated on a partisan basis, and will shed no light on Russia’s interference in the 2016 election, but then again they are not intended to do so. Acting on the urging of the President who has repeatedly denied the intelligence agencies’ conclusions regarding Russian involvement in our election, they are designed to distract attention and pursue the President’s preferred goal – attacking Clinton and Obama.

As with the President’s other Twitter-directed Congressional investigation – that into unmasking – the House Majority demonstrates its fundamental lack of seriousness about Russia’s role in the hacking of democratic institutions, its social media campaign and other active measures designed to influence the outcome of the last election. This may be good politics, but it is a disservice to the far more important cause of investigating Russian interference in our democracy and protecting our elections in 2018 and beyond from outside influence.

Rep. Schiff was spot on. Republicans are trying to distract from the legitimate investigations into Trump and his presidential campaign by launching bogus investigations into Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. The GOP investigations also serve a secondary purpose. Republicans are going back to the old attack Clinton and Obama well as a way of mobilizing their base ahead of the midterm election.

Republicans move to take down GOP Congressman Dana Rohrabacher as Trump-Russia scandal closes in on him

...House Republicans officially neutered Dana Rohrabacher on Tuesday by taking away his ability to travel overseas to conduct official business, and by taking away his ability to hold committee hearings, according to a Daily Beast report (link). The moves leave Rohrabacher largely unable to do his job. This is the closest the House can come to shutting down one of its members, short of expulsion – and it’s nothing short of shocking to see the House majority do it to a member of their own party who hasn’t been formally charged with any crime. That may be about to change.

Even as House Republicans moved to distract from Donald Trump’s Russia scandal by trying to create a phony Obama-Hillary-Russia scandal today, they’re suddenly marching Dana Rohrabacher toward the door today for a reason. They’re locking him down for fear that he’ll continue trying to do Putin’s bidding in the Trump-Russia scandal. But they wouldn’t be worried about that one way or the other, unless they believe Rohrabacher is about to become a central figure in the scandal.

Vladimir Putin seems dazed and confused as Trump-Russia scandal backfires on him

...The U.S. sanctions against Russia are partly a result of Putin’s murder of Russian lawyer Sergei Magnitsky in 2009, which resulted in the Magnitsky Act. Trump was supposed to lift those sanctions as soon as he got into office. Instead he’s been so unstable in office, and his Russia scandal has become so suspicious, that Congress voted to increase sanctions on Russia. Worse for Putin, Canada just enacted its own version of the Magnitsky Act, costing him even more money. Putin gave a speech about it this weekend, and he sounded completely lost:

Survivor confirms Donald Trump is lying about deadly Niger mission

...The unnamed survivor and unnamed military official both spoke with ABC News and offered the real picture of how the mission morphed away from its original intent, and how it turned deadly (link). The U.S. soldiers had indeed initially been sent on a reconnaissance mission, but while they were in the field, they were ordered to pursue and capture or kill a specific enemy target. One of the sources says that because the soldiers were out in the field for too long on a “mission that morphed, they were spotted, surveilled and ultimately hit.”

without going into a really long spiel about it, most of the reports were culled from mining & trades reports.
the ore that is being mined in the usa is low quality ore, and would be useless for anything other then fuel rods for a power plants or to be used in medicine.
as much as donny wants to huff & puff, American Uranium is junk,
it sells for penny's over cost
the Russians did not buy Uranium One to gain access to two low grade mines in the usa, they wanted the real money makers in Kazakhstan,
