Barbara Bush has died.

Barbara Bush, the widely admired wife of one president and the fiercely loyal mother of another, died Tuesday evening at her home in Houston. She was 92.

On Sunday, the office of her husband, former President George Bush, issued a statement saying that after consulting her family and her doctors, Mrs. Bush had “decided not to seek additional medical treatment and will instead focus on comfort care.” 

The Bushes had celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary in January, making them the longest-married couple in presidential history. 

Mrs. Bush had been hospitalized with pneumonia in December 2013. She underwent surgery for a perforated ulcer in 2008 and had heart surgery four months later.

It is always sad when somebody dies, but at 92 you certainly cannot say that Barbara Bush did not live a long and full life.

I have a lot of very strong feelings about the Bush family, I think only Laura Bush gets somewhat of a pass.

Barbara Bush was by all accounts a very hard woman, and one who was difficult to please.

In fact impressing his mother was one of the reasons given for George W. Bush wanting to invade Iraq and finish the job that his father, in his eyes, failed to accomplish.

How is that for a legacy?

Barbara Bush was a remarkable woman. She had grit & grace, brains & beauty. She was fierce & feisty in support of her family & friends, her country & her causes. She showed us what an honest, vibrant, full life looks like. Hillary and I mourn her passing and bless her memory.

Jeb Bush brings his mommy onto the campaign trail with him, and then jokes that she was an abusive parent. Yeah that should help.

Jeb Bush brought his mother Barbara Bush to a campaign rally in New Hampshire tonight and made things just a teensy bit awkward. 

Bush said he’s heard from plenty of people about how much they love his mother, before saying, “She’s not as great as everybody thinks she is. I can tell you that one.” 

“I jokingly say,” he quipped, “that when we were growing up in Midland and Houston that mom was fortunate not to have a child abuse hotline available, because the discipline of learning right and wrong was her doing.”

"Hey everybody here's my mom, but she's not really that great, and she used to beat the shit out of me when I was a kid. Hey vote for me!"

But don't worry about how awkward that was, because his Right to Rise SuperPAC completely outdid it by having his brother, you know the guy who trashed the economy and started two unnecessary wars that cost thousands of American lives, make a commercial for him.

See now you completely forgot about the fact that Barbara Bush used to physically abuse her children, because now you are in shock that anybody would think that having George W. Bush make a commercial for his brother was a good idea.

What's on the agenda for tomorrow? Will one of Jeb's kids talk about how their father's parenting forced them into a life of drug addiction?

Because you know that's a thing too.

Jeb Bush gets his mommy to help him against that big bully Donald Trump.

Just when I'm convinced that the Jeb! campaign simply cannot get more pathetic.

You know I remember when I got my mommy to come to the playground and handle the bullies for me.

Oh wait that never happened, because my mother would have told me to handle it myself and stop being such a pansy ass.

I can see Jeb's next campaign commercial now:

You know you don't have to imagine Trump as a middle school student, because clearly he never matured past that mentality.

I can't believe he brought up Jebbie's mother.

Remember folks this guy wants to be your next President. 

I think Jeb! should challenge him to a duel, and then sell the rights to cable.

I know I'd watch.

In this picture I see three great Presidents, one mediocre one, a national embarrassment, and our next best hope for the future.

I watched as much as I could of the dedication of the George W. Bush library today, but I had to stop because of medical reasons, in that every time somebody complimented him I banged my head on my desk until I almost passed out.

Every one of the people in that picture up above, some of them who I greatly admire, kissed his ass and made nice until my gag reflex went into hyper-drive.

And the whole time I kept thinking, "A library? They built him a library? What's it full of coloring books and one famous version of "My Pet Goat?"

But then I found this graphic on Reddit, and it all made sense.

Ahh, now I get it!

By the way I NEVER agree with the Bush family on anything, but I have to admit that I am in (almost)total agreement with Barbara Bush:

Appearing in an interview from Dallas on NBC's Today show, Mrs. Bush, the wife of President George H.W. Bush, was asked if she thought that her son Jeb, the former governor of Florida, should seek the presidency. 

"He's by far the best qualified," Mrs. Bush said, "but no." 

"We've had enough Bushes," she said.

Okay well obviously I don't agree with the most qualified bit, but I am all over that last line.

President Obama visits The View to talk politics, gay marriage, Wall Street reform, and pop culture.

I am not a huge fan of The View, but I did watch this whole segment and thought the President looked very calm and cool, as usual.

He also seemed to really enjoy the banter and for the most part the ladies were all very polite, and perhaps a little starstruck. And the women in the audience LOVED him.

However even though Hasselbeck commented early in the show that she had talked with the President backstage and found him very charming, she still apparently felt the need to carry water for the GOP and tried to trip the President up a few times.

At one point Hasselbeck tried to make the case that essentially the President and Mitt Romney shared the same views as it pertains to gay marriage.

But the President was having NONE of that:

Hasselbeck wanted to know how he would approach the issue differently now. She argued that he and Mitt Romney "actually agreed personally on the definition of marriage" until last week. She wondered how Obama would "move things forward any more than Mitt Romney in terms of leaving it to the states. Because at this point, you both said leave it to the states to decide." 

"Elisabeth, that's actually not true," Obama responded. "OK," Hasselbeck replied. 

Obama said that Romney wanted a "constitutional amendment," which "federalizes" a ban on gay marriage.

Yeah saying that you support gay marriage, as opposed to being someone who supports the idea of a federal ban on gay marriage, is not exactly "agreeing personally."  But nice try Elizabeth!

Okay now I don't like her again.

How can anybody saddled with George W. Bush's genetic material be this intelligent and compassionate?

I always liked Laura Bush and thought she did  pretty good job with her  girls.

Just goes to show that not ALL of the children of ignorant right wing nuts turn out to be under educated morons relying on their parents name to open doors for them instead of making their own way in the world.

If you thought the dancing on DWTS was impressive watch the Republicans dance away from the question of whether or not Sarah Palin is qualified to be President.

Wow! It really is "Dump on Palin Day!"

You know, I could watch that ALL day long. Especially the Joe Miller part.

Psst! Don't tell George W. Bush that his daughter, Barbara Bush, might just be a Democrat! And "gasp" she supports the health care bill too!

Isn't it amazing how somebody's perspective can change when they actually leave the country and see what conditions are like in the rest of the world?

Just how in the hell did Roger Ailes allow this interview to be aired?

Finally! After all of these years I have a member of the Bush family that I actually like.
