I think that once Donald Trump has lost the support of Matt Drudge it's really only downhill from there.

Courtesy of Mediaite:

Drudge Report founder Matt Drudge emerged on Twitter on Tuesday in order to blast congressional Republicans for not doing more for tax reform.

In recent weeks, Drudge has aired his anger at the GOP for not doing enough to cut taxes and come up with a suitable replacement for the Affordable Care Act. Today, Drudge appeared yet again, and he seemed to say blast the lack of momentum on legislation to help President Trump lower tax rates.

You know it might be illegal to be enjoying this as much as I am. Especially in Donald Trump's America.

Matt Drudge, along with Alex Jones, was an early Trump supporter, pushing conspiracy theories and Russian propaganda out as fast as he could find it or simply make it up.

And now, much like the Russians, he is confronted with the reality of the creature he helped to create.

Of course in Drudge's case the creature is simply not monstrous enough for his liking.

1 in 6 Americans say they are buying guns in response to the violence they expect after this election.

Courtesy of Raw Story:

How long will it be before someone gets shot by a Donald Trump supporter in what the shooter may likely consider an act of patriotic civil disobedience? Or before someone uses a gun against right-wing vigilantes?

There is no shortage of evidence pointing toward some violent outburst surrounding the presidential election results. Reporters interviewing Trump supporters at rallies, national polls showing likely voters are expecting Election Day violence, consumer-trend tracking firms saying demand is rising for gun purchases, and rhetoric from the longstanding cadre of right-wing loudmouths, all suggest some type of ugly response.

“Sixteen percent of Americans plan on buying a gun as a result of the upcoming election,” said a press release Thursday from Elementum, “the real-time supply chain platform company, who polled 2,000 Americans from October 20-24 and found that among those living in the South, 19 percent will buy guns and among Gen Xers, the number is nearly 23 percent, especially among women, 24 percent.”

Wrapping oneself in the flag and taking up arms is a staple of the far-right militia-embracing fringe. But the urge has found a new home in the Trump campaign, led by a presidential candidate who says the vote will be stolen unless he wins, a manager who publishes bomb-throwing Breitbart News, and backers who get their “news” from even more extreme sources like conspiracist Alex Jones of InfoWars.

Well that's a little chilling.

And don't think that Clinton supporters are going to be in a position to return fire either.

The 54-year-old business owner posted a sign on the door of Altra Firearms conveying those rules, and he’s currently running an ad in a local newspaper declaring:

“Please NO Muslims or Hillary Supporters — We do not feel safe selling to terrorists!” Chandler told ThinkProgress that, as the owner of a store that brands itself as “politically incorrect firearms,” he is free to turn Democrats and Muslims away.

Now I am not one to overreact to news that the Right Wing is preparing to take up arms, after all we have been hearing this same warning now for at least eight years.

However I will say that these people seem even more unhinged than they have in years past, and that it would not at all surprise me to hear of folks being shot in the days following the election by angry Trump supporters.

I think it is clear that Donald Trump has gone out of his way to agitate the most unbalanced people in this country, and they are also the most heavily armed.

That is not a good combination, and I hope that if there ARE any murders attributed to the outcome of this election that the police will not hesitate to knock on Donald Trump's door and charge him with inciting violence.

Rachel Maddow: "As a gay person, I did not feel Bill Clinton had my back."

Courtesy of Real Clear Politics:

MADDOW: As a self-proclaimed liberal, people talk about the liberal media and they say the whole media is liberal and the whole establishment is liberal, it's not true. If you really are a liberal it's been a long time in this country that you felt that mainstream politics had nothing to say to you. That mainstream politics was just not about you.

And I look at all the young people, particularly at this Bernie Sanders event. I was 19 in 1992 when Bill Clinton was running on the Democratic side and at the 1992 Republican convention, Pat Buchanan got up there and gave this culture war speech where he basically declared a crusade against minorities and particularly gay people. And as a gay person watching that in 1992 I didn't feel like Bill Clinton had my back. I didn't feel like the Democratic party had my back.

He was talking about agreeing with Ronald Reagan that government was the problem and all that stuff. If you are a liberal, you are not in the majority in this country and you know it and it always feels that way.

But this Democratic race with Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders campaigning this way against each other, that happened because Bernie Sanders got into this race and all these kids who are enthused about this race, whether or not they're supporting Bernie Sanders directly are never going to feel like mainstream politics isn't about them.

I thought this was an interesting interview.

I have been a liberal my entire life, even though typically my demographic, middle aged white male, is supposedly most often attracted to the conservative mindset.

I guess I did not get the memo.

Anyhow I am often quite aware that there are uniquely American experiences that I will never partake in, nor will I really ever understand them completely.

Being female is one. Being a non-white minority another. And being gay yet another.

So for me the Clinton presidency was full of hope and possibilities, and it seemed to deliver on a great number of promises.

Now I am aware that my experience is by no means universal among my liberal fellow travelers.

So I am interested, these many years later what are YOUR feelings about the Clinton administration.

And secondly does it impact your view of a potential Hillary presidency either positively or negatively?

Mark Begich crosses aisle to help block Senate debate on gun control legislation. Moves ahead despite his cowardice. Update!

Courtesy of the Daily Kos:

Nearly four months after the 12/14 elementary school slaughter in Newtown, Connecticut, the Senate voted 68-31 Thursday to move ahead with debate on gun legislation introduced before the spring recess.

Two Democrats, Mark Pryor of Arkansas and Mark Begich of Alaska, voted with 29 Republicans not to proceed.

I am very glad that this debate is moving forward.

I would have been proud that my Senator supported it.

But I guess the NRA is just a little too scary for our only Democratic Senator.

Fortunately for all of us there were Republicans who were less cowardly about standing up to the NRA. Of course now they have been targeted for daring to do the right thing.

Smitherman removed the image he had up earlier, fortunately it was captured before he could do so.

 (And yes, that's a noose.)

As for Mark Begich.

I voted for this man.

I campaigned for this man.

I donated to this man's campaign.

Not anymore.

Update: Here is Mark's explanation. Reads just like a Republican wrote it.

The Crippling Incapacity of Nope.

"Well fuck."
According to CBS News Mitt Romney was "shocked" by the news that he has lost:

After Ohio went for Mr. Obama, it was over, but senior advisers say no one could process it.

"We went into the evening confident we had a good path to victory," said one senior adviser. "I don't think there was one person who saw this coming."

They just couldn't believe they had been so wrong. And maybe they weren't: There was Karl Rove on Fox saying Ohio wasn't settled, so campaign aides decided to wait. They didn't want to have to withdraw their concession, like Al Gore did in 2000, and they thought maybe the suburbs of Columbus and Cincinnati, which hadn't been reported, could make a difference.

But then came Colorado for the president and Florida also was looking tougher than anyone had imagined.

"We just felt, 'where's our path?'" said a senior adviser. "There wasn't one."

Romney then said what they knew: it was over.

His personal assistant, Garrett Jackson, called his counterpart on Mr. Obama's staff, Marvin Nicholson. "Is your boss available?" Jackson asked.

Romney was stoic as he talked to the president, an aide said, but his wife Ann cried. Running mate Paul Ryan seemed genuinely shocked, the adviser said. Ryan's wife Janna also was shaken and cried softly.

"There's nothing worse than when you think you're going to win, and you don't," said another adviser. "It was like a sucker punch."

This may sound mean but I would have dearly LOVED to have been a fly on the wall as this campaign learned that all of their viciousness, lies, and attempts to steal this election had failed.

I have said it before, but I will say it again, the ONLY reason to have THAT much confidence in the outcome of an election, that everybody agreed would be close, is if you know the fix is in. But thankfully for the country, the Republicans were not able to seal the deal and steal yet ANOTHER election.

Apparently those within the Romney campaign were not the ONLY ones shocked by Obama's win, here a few of the faces of Republican despair captured on election night.

 Whoa, wait a minute.

Why does that lady look so familiar?

Is that..is that Bristol Palin's ghostwriter, and crazy ass celebrity stalker, Nancy French?

Why yes, yes it is.

Aww, she looks very heartbroken. I wonder if it because her candidate lost, or because she just realized that the wheels are coming off of her gravy train?

Is it wrong that seeing these pictures makes my face break out in a huge grin every time?

Nah! After all who deserves to be mocked more than these people?

Okay, well of course THAT'S true!

But perhaps even MORE mock-able are these people. (Warning link goes to Chuck Jrs. Facebook page.)

God it is going to be a GREAT next four years!
