Former Neo-Nazi disavows movement, comes out as gay and Jewish. Wait, what?

Courtesy of Channel 4:

A white supremacist active as recently as the start of this year says today he is publicly renouncing 40 years of hate. Speaking on Channel 4 News he comes out as gay for the first time – and admits to a violent past.

After a lifetime of involvement with the far-right Kevin Wilshaw announces on Channel 4 News that he is leaving the movement – at the same time publicly coming out as gay.

The well known National Front organiser in the 1980s was still active in white supremacist groups earlier this year – including speaking at events.

But tonight on Channel 4 News he explains for the very first time why he is publicly disavowing the movement – sharing his secrets, explaining how he was both a Neo-Nazi and of Jewish heritage , while admitting to violent acts and what motivated his hatred.

During the interview Wilshaw says that he became interested in the white supremacist movement because he had no friends and wanted to be part of something.

I think this guy could be the poster boy for joining an organization that is diametrically opposed to your self interests.

He's like a black Republican, only even worse.

Wilshaw said that while he witnessed violence toward minorities and others it did not impact him until it was directed at him.

I am going to guess that empathy is not high on his list of attributes.

CNN president regrets giving Donald Trump so much air time. Well it's a little late now!

Courtesy of Buzzfeed:

CNN President Jeff Zucker on Friday said it was a “mistake” to air so many Trump rallies “and let them run” in 2015, giving the candidate an unfettered platform to call Mexicans rapists, support bans on Muslims from entering the US, and overall grow his base, which includes white nationalists.

“If we made any mistake last year, it’s that we probably did put on too many of his campaign rallies in those early months and let them run,” Zucker said at a talk at the Harvard Kennedy School. “Listen, because you never knew what he would say, there was an attraction to put those on air.”

To be fair to CNN other cable news outlets are also to blame for giving Trump all of that free  media coverage, including MSNBC and Fox News.

And let's not forget all of the coverage he continues to receive in newspapers, on internet sites, and on TV entertainment shows.

Of course it could be argued that, much like Dr. Frankenstein, after helping to create the beast, most media outlets seem determined now to stop it, and there are some like the New York Times and Washington Post who have done an admirable job of doing just that.

Of course if I remember my Mary Shelley correctly the creature managed to survive and to even outlive its creator.

Before his death former Republican Senator wanted to apologize to the Muslim community for Donald Trump.

Courtesy of the Daily Beast:

Between the hectic helter-skelter of nurses, doctors, and well wishes from a long-cultivated community of friends and former aides, Bennett faced a quiet moment with his son Jim and his wife Joyce.

It was not a moment for self-pity.

Instead, with a slight slurring in his words, Bennett drew them close to express a dying wish: “Are there any Muslims in the hospital?” he asked.

“I’d love to go up to every single one of them to thank them for being in this country, and apologize to them on behalf of the Republican Party for Donald Trump,” Bennett told his wife and son, both of whom relayed this story to The Daily Beast.

The rise of Donald Trump had appalled the three-term Utah senator, a Republican who fell victim to the tea-party wave of the 2010 midterms. His vote for the Troubled Asset Relief Program, or TARP, had alienated many conservative activists in his state, who chose lawyer Mike Lee as the GOP nominee for Senate instead.

But as Bennett reflected on his life and legacy in mid-April, following the stroke, he wasn’t focused on the race that ended his political career. Instead, he brought up the issue of Muslims in America—over and over again.

Mike Lee, by the way was another Teabagger endorsed and promoted by Sarah Palin.

I wonder just how many Republicans will want to apologize for Donald Trump on their death beds?

Probably not as many as should.

From the "What in the hell were they thinking" file.

I don't care HOW drunk you got, there is just no excuse for that!

Just imagine, this poor bastard has to walk around wearing that butt ugly thing.

I guess there is no mystery as to why it is featured on blog called "Ugliest Tattoos."
