A year after her defeat by Donald Trump in the 2016 presidential election, Hillary Clinton says “there are lots of questions about its legitimacy” due to Russian interference and widespread voter suppression efforts.
In an interview with Mother Jones in downtown Manhattan, Clinton said Russian meddling in the election “was one of the major contributors to the outcome.” The Russians used “weaponized false information,” she said, in “a very successful disinformation campaign” that “wasn’t just influencing voters—it was determining the outcome.”
Republican efforts to make it harder to vote—through measures such as voter ID laws, shortened early voting periods, and new obstacles to registration—likewise “contributed to the outcome,” Clinton said. These moves received far less attention than Russian interference but arguably had a more demonstrable impact on the election result. According to an MIT study, more than 1 million people did not vote in 2016 because they encountered problems registering or at the polls. Clinton lost the election by a total of 78,000 votes in Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
“In a couple of places, most notably Wisconsin, I think it had a dramatic impact on the outcome,” Clinton said of voter suppression.
Exactly!
It is almost impossible at this point to suggest that the outcome of the 2016 election was completely legitimate. And the more we learn, the more that is reinforced.
I had to laugh out loud when somebody suggested that Donna Brazile's book was going to reveal the truth about Russia's attack on our democracy.
If you really want to know what happened, and how it affected the outcome, the book you need to read is Hillary's.
She was on the front line, and she was the one sifting through every bit of evidence presented during the campaign, and since the election.
In my opinion that was the most fascinating, and informative part of her book.
By the way this interview seems to have really pissed off Putin's puppet.
Keep talking shitgibbon, keep talking.Crooked Hillary Clinton is the worst (and biggest) loser of all time. She just can’t stop, which is so good for the Republican Party. Hillary, get on with your life and give it another try in three years!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 18, 2017
Go Hillary! It is great she speaks up. Also, too, more women and men, speak!
ReplyDeleteRepublicans will go on screaming for Hillary Clinton's blood- like they have for decades- until she gives them the time of day.
ReplyDeleteThat will never happen.
Trump is beside himself because Hillary Clinton has never made any reference to him. It's wonderful to watch him going even crazier.
I don't think either of them, Trump of Clinton should run in 2020, we need more young blood, like Obama, not a bunch of dusty old farts again.
ReplyDeleteHillary Clinton knows how to bug the holy shit out of Trump. Love it, love it. Fun to watch!
ReplyDeleteShe truly should be POTUS and he knows it!
90 million voters did not vote.
ReplyDelete...and it was their right to!
DeleteAbsolutely, (and to the detriment of our nation) true!
DeleteBrainwashed the masses. Shrug.
DeleteAnd nothing is going to change in the near future. Not until the Democratic leadership finally gets it through it’s thick, old head that you need to start at the bottom and gain majorities at the State and local level. Having control at the Federal level is not enough. In fact, not possible if you don’t have a considerable foothold at the state level. And it will be just as bad for the next decade at least because we have a census approaching in 2020 and who is going to be in charge at the Federal level? The Republicans. They’ve already severely cut the budget for the census. Red State legislatures aren’t going to do squat about the voter ID laws or address disenfranchisement, at which they have become extremely adept. Who will address that? Those Deplorable judges Bitch McConnell is busy putting into lifetime positions on appeals courts? Or maybe the Supreme Court. Oh, yeah, Gorsucks. If we lose Ginsburg or Kennedy and Trump gets to appoint another justice, we are totally screwed for decades.
ReplyDeleteSure, the Russian disinformation was just enough to tip the balance. But what we have allowed to be done to ourselves by the Republicans is the main reasons elections are going the way they are. Democrats ceded power when they stopped fighting for those very state legislature seats that then went on to enact voter ID laws and are in charge of REDISTRICTING! When does redistricting occur again? Wow. 2020 after the census. We’re still fighting redistricting battles from the last time and here it comes again.
And who’s in charge of the Democratic Party? Same old losers from the last decade. New faces but same policies and procedures.
I’m glad six Democrats had the guts to at least go on record for impeaching Trump. But I’m not going to be surprised if the Democrats fail to take seats in Congress and Trump gets four MORE years.
Did the Russians do it all? No. Without the influence and CONDITIONING of Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, Inforwars, there wouldn’t be a natural target for the Russians. Again, we did it to ourselves. And nothing is being done to address that. Add to that the destruction of Net Neutrality coming before the end of the year and it all works together to ensure that we may never have an actual democratic election again.
Slow clap!. Thank you for saying what needs to be said.
DeleteMueller's going to take dotard and a whole cast of others down - watch, wait and see ..
DeleteTHANK YOU, mlaiuppa, I concur!
Delete8:15 -
DeleteIf the House and the Senate don’t vote to impeach and find him guilty, Mueller can cut off as many limbs as he likes but the head remains. He can’t indict a sitting president. Not with what he’ll uncover.
The Republicans won’t vote to take down Trump. Hell, plenty of them still support Molester Moore because it is more important for them to have a Republican in that senate seat than anything else. Even if they found a body and had photos of him raping and then killing and burying some poor girl, there are still some that will vote for him. Because partisan politics has become so polarizing and toxic in this country.

DeleteThe GOP won'e do anything to stop Trump until they get everything they want: enormous tax cuts for the rich (including corporations), the elimination of the ACA, Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security, and an even more bloated military. Our member of Congress, a retired Marine lieut. general, does not think that the government should do anything to help non-military citizens. Of course the government should continue to give him and his family all the benefits we've provided them since he joined the Marines - whenever that was. All I know is that he wasn't working or living in northern Michigan so he hasn't a clue about how most of his constituents have lived. A really true Republican.

A Coordinated Hitjob Against Dems is Underway and Al Franken Won't be the Last

If that lame hit on Al Franken is the best they can do, their efforts are going to be transparent and pathetic.
DeleteThe Franken hit is not their best. We will see if they can do better. I doubt they will quit.
DeleteThink about this. We have a President who responds like a total idiot, name calling juvenile behavoir.
ReplyDeleteRealize that the whole word sees his tweets. We have a spoiled kid as a President who has no parent to smack him in the ass which is what he needs.
Will no one shut him up?Do your job Trump because i for one am sick and tired of your ego, your golf trips on my dime and hell even your stupid hair and your makeup.Fat ass had to buy every wife he had including the so called "First Lady" who is miserable and it shows.
I want our dignity back, I am tired of going to another country not feeling proud to be an American.
Drumpf just cannot stop projecting! If he weren't so nauseating, and the result of the 2016 election so deadly serious, I'd LOL.
ReplyDeleteDonnie is the crooked one (also, too his children) and he is the biggest loser--by way of getting fewer popular votes than Hillary in the 2016 election and his deplorable behavior to everyone throughout his entire life.
The orange oaf is the one who cannot get on with his life, who keeps reliving his "victory" and who keeps campaigning because his narcissistic personality craves constant adulation.
I can hardly stand to listen to Traitor Trump speak, he is so inarticulate and a constant liar. I rely on various MSNBC evening programs, and Joy Reid on the weekend, for a more in depth coverage of what is really happening in politics.
The tweeting of Don the Con is actually good for the Democratic Party and an embarrassment for the GOP. Trumpty Dumpty is constantly reinforcing to the world of sane people that he is unfit to be President of the U.S.
He needs to be reminded everyday:78,000 votes
ReplyDeleteNo historic, landslide victory and no mandate.
It will drive him insane
No, not the 78,000 he won by, but the 3 MILLION that he LOST the popular vote by. His dismal inauguration crowds should be brought up too.
DeleteGuess what after all those missing ballots in Detroit and Wayne county, they got new voting machines.
ReplyDeleteA little late
They can replace all of the voting machines in the entire country and it still won’t counter the suppression, disenfranchisement, gerrymandering and plain old dirty tricks.
DeleteThe question will be now: have the new machines been designed to be rigged. We should go back to paper ballots which leave enough trail for proper recounts if necessary. And we need to end the disenfranchise movement and the gerrymandering.
DeleteBeaglemom
Yup.

Trump will go down in history as the most hated President of all time. That's a badge of dishoner he can brag about while he sits on his gold toilet tweeting while trying to get rid of his well done steak with ketchup and Mickey D"S Big Mac's.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile Melania Trump can carry on with her affair with the head of security of Tiffany's at Trump Tower. There is a reason she wanted to stay in New York.
Also the most corrupt, dysfunctional and damaging administration in the history of the United States.
DeleteI don't know what it is about Hillary that the good ole boys club just wants to shut down but they sure get worked up over her every move and word.
ReplyDeleteOne reason is simply that she's a woman and another is that all those "good ole boys" know that she should be president now.

The electoral college elected Trump not the Russians. If you want to blame the Russians, they did a piss poor job with Hillary winning the popular vote by 2 million. Hillary was the one who chose not to campaign in the States that cost her the election. Piss poor campaign.
ReplyDeleteTHANK you!
DeleteAwww, the Bernie Bro's are still whining, even though they helped elect Dotard.
DeleteSaid the fat orange arse, who even told those guys who stole to say thank you, hello commie
ReplyDeleteThe Hidden History of Trump’s First Trip to Moscow
ReplyDeleteIn 1987, a young real estate developer traveled to the Soviet Union. The KGB almost certainly made the trip happen.

Delete1977 {40years ago}
It was around this time that Donald Trump appears to have attracted the attention of Soviet intelligence."
"In fact, the Soviet Union was interested in him too, three decades earlier. The top level of the Soviet diplomatic service arranged his 1987 Moscow visit. With assistance from the KGB. It took place while Kryuchkov was seeking to improve the KGB's operational techniques in one particular and sensitive area. The spy chief wanted KGB staff abroad to recruit more Americans."
"urgent subject: how to improve agent recruitment. The general urged his officers to be more “creative.” Previously they had relied on identifying candidates who showed ideological sympathy toward the USSR: leftists, trade unionists and so on. By the mid-1980s these were not so many. So KGB officers should “make bolder use of material incentives”: money. And use flattery, an important tOOl."The PR Line—that is, the Political Intelligence Department stationed in KGB residencies abroad—was given explicit instructions to find “U.S. targets to cultivate or, at the very least, official contacts.” “The main effort must be concentrated on acquiring valuable agents,”
"These should be acquired chiefly among prominent figures in politics and society, and important representatives of business and science.” These should not only “supply valuable information” but also “actively influence” a country’s foreign policy “in a direction of advantage to the USSR.”"1985 this was updated for “prominent figures in the West.” The directorate’s aim was to draw the target “into some form of collaboration with us.” This could be “as an agent, or confidential or special or unofficial contact.”"what was the likelihood that the “subject could come to power (occupy the post of president or prime minister)”? And an assessment of personality. For example: “Are pride, arrogance, egoism, ambition or vanity among subject’s natural characteristics?”"kompromat. The document asked for: “Compromising information about subject, including illegal acts in financial and commercial affairs, intrigues, speculation, bribes, graft … and exploitation of his position to enrich himself.” Plus “any other information” that would compromise the subject before “the country’s authorities and the general public.” Naturally the KGB could exploit this by threatening “disclosure.”
"Finally, “his attitude towards women is also of interest.” The document wanted to know: “Is he in the habit of having affairs with women on the side?”
Ivana
"April 1977 she married Trump.
According to files in Prague, declassified in 2016, Czech spies kept a close eye on the couple in Manhattan. (The agents who undertook this task were code-named Al Jarza and Lubos.)"
"conspiratorial collaboration.”"
"Trump said in his 1987 bestseller, The Art of the Deal.
“One thing led to another, and now I’m talking about building a large luxury hotel, across the street from the Kremlin, in partnership with the Soviet government.”" They got into the elevator. At the top, Dubinina said, they met Trump.
The ambassador—“fluent in English and a brilliant master of negotiations”—charmed the busy Trump, telling him: “The first thing I saw in the city is your tower! “Trump melted at once. He is an emotional person, somewhat impulsive. He needs recognition. And, of course, when he gets it he likes it. My father’s visit worked on him [Trump] like honey to a bee.” "six months before the Estée Lauder lunch."
"Once in Moscow, they would receive lavish hospitality. “Everything is free. There are good parties with nice girls. It could be a sauna and girls and who knows what else.” The hotel rooms or villa were under “24-hour control,” with “security cameras and so on,” Suvorov said. “The interest is only one. To collect some information and keep that information about him for the future.” {Idea>Get So}
"Trump was thinking about running for president."
So maybe the KGB also "arranged" for trump to meet melanoma, whose father was in the party.

We have to wonder, though, about the "figures HE has" not "filed with the federal government." All that hidden money, provided so "generously" by his Russian and other questionable cohorts.
