Air Force Chaplain writes article claiming that Christian servicemen "serve Satan" by demonstrating respect for other religions.

A U.S. Air Force chaplain who ministers to thousands of men and women at an Ohio base is asserting that Christians in the U.S. Armed Forces “serve Satan” and are “grossly in error” if they support service members' right to practice other faiths.

The Chaplin,  Captain Sonny Hernandez, wrote an article for a website called BarbWire.com, in which he condemned Christian service members for relying on the Constitution “and not Christ.”

Of  course American service men and women take an oath to uphold the Constitution, NOT the Bible.

But that did not seem to matter to this guy:

He wrote: “Counterfeit Christians in the Armed forces will appeal to the Constitution, and not Christ, and they have no local church home—which means they have no accountability for their souls (Heb. 13:17). This is why so many professing Christian service members will say: We ‘support everyone’s right’ to practice their faith regardless if they worship a god different from ours because the Constitution protects this right.”

Hernandez continued: “Christian service members who openly profess and support the rights of Muslims, Buddhists, and all other anti-Christian worldviews to practice their religions—because the language in the Constitution permits—are grossly in error, and deceived.”

Apparently there have been a number of complaints against Hernandez in the past but no real action has been taken as of yet.

However now he has come to the attention of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation. And its founder Mikey Weinstein has a theory about what it going on: 

"America’s military members look to the president for direction and inspiration," Weinstein said. "Trump’s statements and actions have fully endorsed and validated this unbridled tidal wave of fundamentalist Christian persecution, which is now more inextricably intertwined into the very fabric of our Department of Defense than ever before."

The organization says that the number of complaints they receive has doubled since Trump took office,  and that seems to reflect the increased racism and rejection of non-Christian religions that we have noticed all across the nation.

This is of course only the beginning. Things are definitely only going to get worse from here.

"Darkness is good," says Bannon, who amid the suits surrounding him at Trump Tower, looks like a graduate student in his T-shirt, open button-down and tatty blue blazer — albeit a 62-year-old graduate student. "Dick Cheney. Darth Vader. Satan. That's power. It only helps us when they" — I believe by "they" he means liberals and the media, already promoting calls for his ouster — "get it wrong. When they're blind to who we are and what we're doing." 

Oh yeah, nothing troubling about this.

Bannon also claims that he is not a white nationalist: 

"I'm not a white nationalist, I'm a nationalist. I'm an economic nationalist."

Let's see an "economic nationalist" who used his online news site to promote antisemitism,  Islamophobia, and racism. And whose audience was largely made up of neo-Nazis, KKK members, and the Alt-Right.

How is that different than a "white nationalist" again?

Jack Chick, the creator of the infamous "Chick Tracts," has died. Boy is he in for a surprise.

Jack Chick, soul-winner and Catholic-hater, is dead.Chick, who produced hundreds of fundamentalist Christian tracts over 50 years, passed yesterday at the age of 92. He was initially known for tracts like “This Was Your Life,” which used compelling and sometimes frightening visuals to depict fundamentalist beliefs about hell and salvation. His contribution to the Satanic Panic rightfully earned him public infamy, as did his fear-mongering about feminism, LGBT rights, New Age spirituality, and even Catholicism. 

Chick was a true cultural separatist whose doctrinal views were heavily influenced by works like The Fundamentals and Charles Finney’s Power From On High. Only the King James Version of the Bible sufficed; Satan is directly responsible for all other translations. Catholics? They’ve eaten the infamous Death Cookie and are doomed to hell. Infant baptism? Dangerous heresy! Dungeons and Dragons? If you have to ask, you’ve probably got one foot in the lake of fire already. 

A few of Chick’s views, specifically on abortion, evolution, and LGBT people, possess a pernicious longevity. He celebrated AIDS as just deserts for anyone who didn’t adhere to his stringent sexual standards—a sentiment 14 percent of Americans still believe.

 You know I think the first time I saw a Chick Tract it was mixed in with some of my Halloween candy when I was just a kid.

I cannot even begin to imagine the number of children that have been traumatized by reading this garbage, but all it did for me was to make me even angrier that there were adults who victimized kids with bullshit like this.

Those Chick Tracts were heavily focused on eternal damnation and any non-Fundamentalist point of view was essentially labeled Satanic and dismissed out of hand.

As an adult they are so over the top that they seem comical, but to a young child this is the stuff of nightmares.

Somehow I feel that the planet is just a little bit more progressive now that Jack Chick has shuffled off his mortal coil. 

Evangelicals bless Donald Trump to keep Satan away. Pretty sure it's too late for that.

Donald Trump is locked in a war with Satan. 

At an event in Cleveland on Wednesday, an evangelical pastor warned the Republican presidential candidate that he was fighting none other than Lucifer himself. 

Pastor Darrell Scott said that five years ago, an unnamed “nationally known preacher” claimed that if Trump ran for president, he would come under a “concentrated satanic attack.” Scott said the preacher warned of “a demon, principalities and powers, that are going to war against you on a level that you’ve never seen before.” 

What’s more, Scott affirmed that this satanic attack was taking place right now. 

Okay first of I would like to say that if there WERE a Satan that he is absolutely a Trump support, hands down.

No questions about it. 

Secondly, does this seem eerily familiar to anybody else?

You know I have made this comparison between Trump and Palin a number of times now, but this is getting ridiculous!

Televangelist James Robison suggests that we should replace every member of Congress with a conservative Christian because it will make "the demons shudder."

On his "Life Today" program this morning, James Robison interviewed Todd Starnes about his recent book "God Less America" and the two agreed that if conservative Christians in America could simply come together, they could save this nation by voting every member of Congress out of office and make "the demons shudder!" 

"This is the thing you’ve got to understand as a Christian," Robison said. "In a democracy where the majority rules and where we're the ones who choose, then those we choose reflect the heart conscious and convictions of those who vote or who don't vote. Too many Christians have checked out. You've been told it's politically incorrect for church people to be involved. That's one of the biggest lies that ever came through the lips of Satan. Do not believe it! Of all people on this earth that ought to stand up and protect the precious and be light to illuminate the way out of this present and pressing darkness, we're the ones to do it." 

"Hey, government, we can take control," he continued. "There are only 500 of you. We can get rid of the whole bunch in one smooth swoop and we can really reroute the whole ship! ... All hell is trembling — the gates of hell tremble. The very fact that people who love God and know God and love their neighbor, whatever stand up, speak up, and become a shining city set on a hill, oh, the demons shudder!" 

Well I don't know about shuddering demons but the idea of  a Congress filled with conservative Christians certainly makes the hairs on MY neck stand straight up. 

Could you imagine the government jam packed with superstitious idiots who did not trust science, want complete control over women's reproductive systems, and who believed that any minute Jesus would come back if only they could start enough wars in the Middle East?

I think that should make the entire country shudder.

By the way who was surprised to see Todd Starnes there nodding his fat head in agreement? Because I certainly wasn't.

I knew there was something I liked about Satan. He is pro-equal rights.

So does this mean that Satan was gay?

Or black?

Hey, maybe he was a woman.

Well gee if the devil wanted equal rights, then I guess that MUST mean that anybody else demanding them is clearly an agent of Lucifer. You know, because that makes all kinds of sense.

And these people wonder why they are so often mocked, and why so many are leaving the church in droves.

Right Wing pastor claims that Satan is behind the theory of Evolution. And here all this time all thought it was scientists.

Rick Wiles invited conservative pastor Laurence White onto “Trunews” yesterday to answer the question: “Is America repeating Germany’s path into Nazism?” 

Unsurprisingly, the two agreed that America is moving in the direction of Nazi Germany, which they blamed in part on pastors who do not vocally denounce abortion rights, marriage equality and evolution, which White said is “not science but religion.” 

White said questions posed to politicians like Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker about whether they believe in evolution come straight from Satan: “They’re trying to make conservative, Bible-believing candidates look foolish because the Devil is the Father of Lies and he’s good at it.” 

Pastors, according to White, must “lead our people to be able to discern what is actually going on in this country, that collision of two religions: one pagan, one Christian. And until they recognize that, they’re not going to understand the nature of the spiritual warfare in which we are engaged.”

For the record Evolution is NOT a religion. It is science.

However these people cannot argue against science, because they don't understand it. So instead they attempt to bring the science down to their level, the level of blind superstitious faith, in order to fight against it more effectively

I should also add that it is not the people asking Scott Walker and others their thoughts on evolution that are making them look foolish. it is their inability to answer such a simple question that accomplishes that feat.

On British talk show fundamentalist offers a rather frightening view of humanists, only to be quickly corrected by an actual humanist.

The topic of this episode of The Big Question is a discussion concerning how the UK recently passed a ruling saying that humanist marriages are not to considered a legal form of matrimony in the country, while in Scotland, which embraced humanist marriages since 2005, they now outnumber Catholic weddings.

But things quickly go off the rails with the introduction of Taiwo Adewuyi, founder of the group Discuss Jesus. (Though to be honest it does not sound like he wants to rationally discuss ANYTHING.)

Host Nicky Campbell presented Adewuyi, who said humanist weddings are “entirely demonic.” 

“It all goes back to the origins of humanism,” Adewuyi said. “Humanism is the cancer on thanks-giving. It is the Devil’s PR. It is a first-class ticket to the sea of wantonness and debauchery.” 

Humanism, he said, tries to “knock God off the throne” and put mankind at the top instead, which Adewuyi claims is wrong. 

Andrew Copson of the British Humanist Association responded, “Well, if you’re going to wantonness and debauchery, you might as well travel first class.” 

“Humanism,” he explained, “is a nonreligious world view that — instead of looking to revelation or authority, we look to reason and evidence to understand the universe. Instead of looking to moral rules that come from outside human beings, we look to other human beings to generate values in the here and now and also to generate meaning in our life.” 

“Instead of looking externally for some meaning to give value and sanction to the existence we’re having, the humanist view is that men and women in the course of our lives create the sustained meaning together,” Copson said.

Okay I am not terribly familiar with this Andrew Copson fellow but I found his explanation of humanism to be very satisfying.

And this in a nutshell is how many people in the religious right characterize those of us who are living our lives free of religion or oppressive dogma.

Everything to them is black or white, right or wrong, good or evil. And if you are not one of them, believing exactly as they do, then you are an agent of Satan and you, and your dangerous ideas, must be rejected out of hand.

And the struggle continues. 

I do not like energy drinks. But did you know some of them are the work of Satan?

What I enjoy the most about watching this lady is just how absolutely certain she is about what she is saying.

There is not a shred of doubt in her voice, in her affect, or in her super intense stare.

In her mind that drink is NOT a Christian drink, it is clearly the work of the devil, and she is dedicated to warning people about it.

You know sometimes I think it must be so comforting to see the world in such stark terms of good and evil, especially when you have convinced yourself that you are working on the side of good, and that the most powerful presence in the universe is working alongside you.

You know I was thinking of having a Monster energy drink today. But I just could not bring myself to break God's heart.

The makers of a Biblical role-playing game that follows the life of Abraham are blaming their lack of success and inability to fund the project on the influence of Satan. 

Speaking with Polygon, Richard Gaeta, co-founder of Phoenix Interactive explained the company’s problems starting cropping up right after the launch of their Kickstarter campaign for Bible Chronicles: The Call of Abraham. 

“I believe that, 100 percent,” Gaeta said. 

“It’s very tangible,” explained business partner Martin Bertram. “From projects falling through and people that were lined up to help us make this a success falling through. Lots of factors raining down on us like fire and brimstone.” 

Phoenix Interactive’s Kickstarter failed to reach its $100,000 target, only managing to raise $19,000. 

Executives with troubled video game company see forces other than the marketplace at play. 

 "If Satan is rallying some of his resources to forestall, delay, or kill this project, I think, this must be a perceived threat to his kingdom,” said Ken Frech, a religious mentor on the project. “I fully would expect something like this to have spiritual warfare. Look at the gospel accounts of demons and so forth. That’s reality. Many Americans don’t believe it anymore. That doesn’t change reality.” 

In the action-RPG game Bible Chronicles: The Call of Abraham, gamers are an attendant in Abraham’s party, witnessing Biblical events, while playing an active role fetching, fighting and seeking. 

The developers point out that game will not be a glossy retelling of the Biblical story, but will follow a strict literal Biblical line.

You know I don't game all that often anymore, but I do pay attention to up and coming content just to see if anything catches my eye.

What I have noticed is that tons of game ideas never make it past the initial planning stages, and simply die on the vine due to lack of interest.

There are many reasons for this, bad marketing, bad development, bad idea, but I have NEVER heard one of these developers blame the Devil.

It must be nice to never have to take responsibilities for your failures, and instead have some imaginary boogeyman to blame them on.

I'm going to try that the next time I forget where I parked my car.

Republican official in Michigan claims that homosexuality is a perversion created by Satan. Update!

A new candidate for a Michigan seat on the Republican National Committee wants gays "purged" from the GOP and claims homosexuality is a "perversion" created by Satan himself. 

Mary Helen Sears of Houghton County in the state's Upper Peninsula, elected vice chair of the Michigan Republican Party's 1st District last year, posted a rant in April on the Schoolcraft County GOP website -- preceded by a warning asking readers to "please use your discretion before taking any decisions based on the information in this blog." 

In the post, Sears claimed that homosexuals prey on children, argued that "Satan uses homosexuality to attack the living space of the Holy Spirit" and advocated that Republicans "as a party should be purging this perversion and send them to a party with a much bigger tent." 

Sears, in her post on the Schoolcraft County GOP website, wrote that Communist college professors were indoctrinating young people and claimed that Charles Darwin's evolutionary theory "gave rise to Hitler’s Third Reich, Mussolini’s Italy and Stalin’s Russia." 

"If the GOP continues down this trend and stand for perversions and the daily social fad ... The GOP will be truly dead and Satan will have had his day," Sears wrote.

Oh yeah, we wouldn't want Satan to have his day or anything. 

You know the Republican party keeps complaining that they are "being smeared by the mainstream media," but I think they get that confused with "reporting on the crazies in their party."

Yeah, when even the mentally challenged paste eaters in the corner pick up on it, then you know it is not just an accident.

After all Mark Burnett is the uber-Christian producer of numerous reality shows, including the one starring the aforementioned half term Governor.

And it is kind of hard to think "coincidence" when this is how he described the series even before it was broadcast:  

"The Bible is the foundation of this nation, of our laws, of our society," Burnett said. "There wouldn't have been the Declaration of Independence. President Obama swore his allegiance to all of us not on one Bible, on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s Bible and Abraham Lincoln's bible last month. It's on our money: 'In God We Trust.'"

Hmm, interesting how he was already a little focused on our President, don't you think?

Of course since this whole thing blew up yesterday, the denials have already started:  

Mark Burnett and Roma Burnett said Monday the Moroccan actor who played Satan in the History channel series, Mehdi Ouzaani, has played Satanic characters in other Biblical programs long before Obama was elected president. (No he hasn't.)

History said in a statement that the network has “the highest respect” for Obama, and that “it’s unfortunate that anyone made this false connection.” 

“Both Mark and I have nothing but respect and love our president, who is a fellow Christian,” said Downey, the “Touched By an Angel” actress who is married to Burnett. “False statements such as these are just designed as a foolish distraction to try and discredit the beauty of the story of the Bible.”

Uh huh. Well hell if you can't believe an angel then who can your believe, right?

But let's, for the moment, put aside the idea that Mark Burnett purposefully used his program to equate the President of the United States, with Satan, and move on to another question.

Such as why, if indeed Burnett was trying to make a film worthy to be shown on a channel called "The History Channel," did he make his Jesus look like this?

When scientists agree that, if he existed at all, he should look more like this?

I mean doesn't it bother anybody else that the devil is portrayed as a black man, while Jesus is portrayed by an actor who looks like he could be cast as an Aryan Gestapo agent in a film about Nazi Germany?

But hey, I am sure THAT does not make Mark Burnett, his angelic wife, or the History Channel racist either.

Right?

Way to stay open minded.

How does one even have a remotely intelligent conversation with a group of people who believe this?

And don't think this is an isolated case of a fundamentalist wingnut, I have seen this same point of view coming from people who would consider themselves reasonable, well educated individuals. Certainly not ALL Christians, but a larger percentage than I think many of us realize.

They simply believe that THEIRS is the only path to salvation and that any other religion, philosophy, or spiritual path is the literal work of the devil.

This makes a pretty good point. Any Christians want to explain to me how this is wrong?

Insanity on Hannity, as the Grizzled Mama returns to the fake backdrop of Wasilla, to cry foul at the "lamestream" media and to defend Santorum's remarks about Satan attacking America.

Essentially Palin performs the same old song and dance that we have all come to expect from her in these bullshit interviews. The only real difference with the newer ones is that she has released her death grip on Newt's...let's say ego, and is now stroking Santorum's with the gusto of a woman desperate to get that number two spot on the GOP ticket again.

(Now let us pause in our critique of this interview to ponder just how happy the Obama campaign would be to learn that the GOP had chosen a Santorum/Palin ticket to go up against them in 2012. You think the President smiles a lot now, just imagine how big his grin would be at that news!)

(Nope, even bigger than that!)

Anyhow back to business.  Like I said this interview follows the same pattern we have seen numerous times before of Hannity asking Palin who she would endorse, or vote for, and Palin dancing around the issue like a stripper with sticky loose change caught up between her g-string and her "lady business."

However there are couple of points worth discussing.

Around the 4:40 mark Hannity asks Palin who she would vote for in Michigan, like somebody actually gave a shit, but her response is kind of intriguing.

"I don't know at this point who I would vote for there in Michigan, I..I do want the process to continue. We know that we had a poor process the last go around, and it's the fault of the media, the leftist mainstream media, that did not vet Barack Obama who then obviously became our president and now we are suffering the negative ramifications of what Barack Obama stands for and, and stood for as a candidate, as he promised to fundamentally transform us and that's exactly what he's doing to the determent to the future of our country."

Now while she focused this criticism of the media to how they covered Obama, I could not help but think, "She's talking about herself."

Which by the way is not uncommon for Palin. If you read past interviews there are a number of times that she points out the shortcomings of others, that are clearly mirror images of her own shortcoming or behaviors.

In this interview I think she is projecting how the media let HER slide by without serious critique (Right up until she shot herself in the foot with her answers to softball questions from Katie Couric, Matt Lauer, and Charlie Gibson), and projecting that onto Obama to help buoy up her revisionist version of history, in which SHE was the one that was poorly treated by the press.

The next part which must be addressed (Around the 10:00 mark) is Palin's response when Hannity brings up Santorum's statement that Satan is actively attacking America through colleges, universities, and the Protestant church. (Of course Hannity conveniently leaves out the part about Protestantism.)

"Yeah Sean but that's foreign to so many in that leftist media that kind of runs the show here, that narrative that they create. They will attack any conservative who boldly proclaims their faith and talks about there is good in the world and there is evil in the world, and that's what Rick Santorum was talking about. And this was a speech that he gave back in 2008, where he named evil as "Satan." and for these lamestream media characters to get all wee wee'd up about that...first you have to ask yourself, have they ever, EVER attended a Sunday School class even? Have they never heard this terminology before? And that's why they just got so you know just..just..so..whacked out about this speech."

Well speaking as one of the so-called "leftists" that the Creature from Lake Lucille is referring to, I would simply explain that, yes I did attend Sunday School, and I did hear about Satan, as well as good and evil.

But a funny thing happened later in my life. I grew up! And while growing up I came to realize that the world is not simply right and wrong, good and evil, or black and white. And somebody who is not intelligent enough to understand that simple reality should NEVER be put in charge of this great country. EVER!

I would also like to point out that Sanrtorum was NOT simply making a childish argument that a magical mythological creature was attacking America, but also that this evil creature was attacking this country through our institutions of higher learning and the Protestant church. You know the one where 51% of ALL Christians attend services.

But of course Palin is going to defend him, because let's face it he's leading.  Well he was, but that was before Palin defended him.
