Nazi armband wearing racist harasses black man in Seattle, gets tracked down knocked out.

On Sunday afternoon, a Twitter account called @bigotbasher posted a photo of a man apparently riding Seattle's D line while wearing a swastika armband. 

The user wrote that the photo was submitted to them by a third party. @bigotbasher wrote in their tweet that the man in the armband was harassing a black man on the bus. BuzzFeed News has reached out to the person behind the @bigotbasher account for comment.

The picture was picked up by a few anti-fascist–affiliated Twitter accounts that quickly got to work trying to identify the man.

That all led to this post:

The gentleman who punched the neo-Nazi out has not been identified, but apparently he is NOT a member of AntiFa.

I am have a couple of opinions about all of this.

First I don't think that anybody should feel that it is okay to walk around adorned in Nazi paraphernalia. And to verbally harass a minority while wearing said paraphernalia is just looking for trouble.

And secondly I can tell you that if I were 30 years younger I would undoubtedly be applauding these actions and wanting to knock a few Nazi assholes out myself.

However I am NOT in my twenties and I know that as much as this asshole was asking for trouble he was not using physical aggression so did not deserve to be met with physical aggression.

Verbal interactions, however heated, are still only verbal interactions.

When you introduce physical violence, now matter how justified you may feel, you are now in the wrong.

Not only that but this will certainly be used by other Nazis and White Supremacists as a recruiting tool and to prove that the white man is under assault, which will then justify in their minds any violence that they may resort to in future confrontations.

If people are not more careful this all may actually lead to an honest to goodness race war, and I don't see how that benefits anybody.

Americans are tired of the spin and attacks on conservatives while important matters like government corruption get ignored. We refused to take more of it this election cycle. 

Now, here's to Kevin Scholla whose character and skill continue to be the example these liberal lapdog hacks in the news need to follow. Keep up the genuinely great work in the media, Mr. Scholla.

Holy overreaction Batman!

Hell you would think that somebody accused Palin of selling out to the Russians or something. (No, that was just her candidate for president who did that.)

Now here is the kicker.

This is the Seattle Times article that got her crusty panties all in a bunch: 

Sarah Palin was spotted roaming the sidelines prior to the Seahawks’ game against the Rams on Thursday night, and she was all decked out in Seahawks gear. Is the former Alaska governor turned reality TV star turned Donald Trump surrogate a Seahawks fan? More importantly: Is this a longterm infatuation, or is Palin just another bandwagoner?

That was essentially it. Not really an attack, but more of an open ended question.

Now to be fair the article started off wondering if the closing of I-90 and I-405 was due to an escort for Palin, but they corrected themselves when they learned it was actually for the team.

But that is clearly not the part which bothered Palin.

The part that inspired her venom laced rant against essentially the entire media had only to do with the temerity of a Seattle Times reporter to question her allegiance to a team that is in a state in which she does not reside.

This Palin labeled "fake news."

THAT'S what passes for fake news in the Palin household?

Now I am having trouble deciding if I should buy her a dictionary for Christmas this year or a prescription for anti-anxiety medication?

Colin Kaepernick's national anthem protest trickles down to Seattle high school.

The entire Garfield High School football team, including the coaches, took a knee during the national anthem Friday night before their game against West Seattle High on Friday night to protest “social injustices.”

After the game, which Garfield won, Garfield High School head football coach Joey Thomas said that "the players decided to do this" to bring attention to "social injustices," emphasizing that it was "a player-driven" move and that his players plan to continue the practice during the anthem before every game "until they tell us to stop."

Well if they are waiting for the school board to tell them to stop it does not appear that will happen anytime soon.

Seattle Public Schools issued the following statement:

“Students kneeling during the national anthem are expressing their rights protected by the First Amendment. Seattle Public Schools supports all students' right to free speech.”

Now THAT my friends is what freedom is all about.

And good on these high school athletes for participating in our democracy. As well as the Seattle Public Schools for supporting their right to do so.

Shooting ranges linked to lead poisoning. Well THIS explains a lot.

Thousands of people, including workers, shooters and their family members, have been contaminated at shooting ranges due to poor ventilation and contact with lead-coated surfaces, a Seattle Times investigation has found. 

Those most at risk are employees who work around firearms, unknowingly inhaling lead-tinged dust and fumes as they instruct customers and clean shooting ranges of spent ammunition. Lead exposure can cause an array of health problems — from nausea and fatigue to organ damage, mental impairment and even death. 

Even those who’ve never stepped inside a gun range have become sick. Employees have carried lead residue into their homes on their skin, clothes, shoes and work gear, inadvertently contaminating family members, including children, who are the most vulnerable to lead’s debilitating health effects. 

For the public, shooting firearms is the most common way of getting lead poisoning outside of work, according to national statistics.

"Nausea, fatigue, organ damage, mental impairment, death," damn that exercising of your 2nd Amendment rights can really take a toll on a fella.

Kind of makes you wonder if the lunacy of the pro-gun folks is due to their overwhelming fetish for guns, or simply the result of too much lead in their systems. Or maybe a combination of both.

Well I'll tell you one thing, it certainly puts some of these accidental shootings into perspective.

Kind of hard to control a weapon when you have lost the feeling in your arms and hands.

Seattle based women's group supporting background checks for gun shows find bullet riddled target at their front door. Probably does not mean anything, right?

A target riddled with bullet holes was found at the doorstep of the Seattle-King County League of Women Voters earlier this month. 

Staff there believe it was a direct threat because of their support for I-594 – the initiative that would require background checks for gun sales online, at gun shows, and even exchanges person-to–person. 

The staff member who found the target immediately called 911. SPD told KIRO 7 detectives are investigating this incident as a threat. 

Staff at the League of Women Voters did not find a note or writing on the target, and they told KIRO 7, they don’t know who left it. 

“I think it’s someone who disagrees with our stance, and at a minimum they’re trying to scare us,” said Allison Allison Feher, Administrative Manager for League of Women Voters of Seattle-King County.

Yes let's convince voters that we don't need background checks to weed out criminals and the mentally unfit from purchasing weapons at guns shows by using crazy intimidation tactics to scare them off.

Brilliant.

And the thing is that this is not an unusual sort of tactic for the Ammosexuals, they have resorted to these scare tactics time, and time again.

Essentially by their very actions they are proving that those who want access to guns the most, might be the ones who can be trusted with them the least.

Wayne LaPierre was wrong. What it takes to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with some pepper spray.

On Thursday afternoon at half-past-three, a man walked into Otto Miller Hall at Seattle Pacific University, carrying a shotgun and a handgun. He opened fire, killing one person and injuring three more. 

When the shooter stopped to reload, according to police reports, an engineering student named Jon Meis sprayed him with pepper spray, incapacitating him, before grabbing him in a chokehold. Passers-by helped Meis hold the gunman until police arrived on the scene. 

"There are a number of heroes in this," assistant police chief Paul McDonagh said, according to the Associated Press. "The people around [the gunman] stepped up."

Now I am in no way attempting to suggest that a can of pepper spray is the best possible deterrent against a gunman. Every situation is different, and what works once, may not work the next time.

However it is worth noting that Mr. Meis did not accidentally shoot an innocent bystander while incapacitating this killer, nor did his efforts to stop him result in the shooter's death.

Years ago, during my initial training in martial arts, I asked my instructor why he would not teach me to use the Chinese sword that he wielded with such grace and power.

His answer in response was that weapons can malfunction, be stolen, or misplaced but a well trained body, fueled by courage, would never let you down.

I would say that in this case his words proved somewhat prophetic as they have multiple times during my own life.

This young man demonstrated something that many 2nd Amendment advocates seem to lack, the ability to overcome his fear.

Boy Scouts ban gay troop leader. Local pack refuses to force him out, so the BSA revokes their charter. Just like Jesus would do.

The Boy Scouts of America has revoked the charter of a Seattle troop over its refusal to remove an openly gay troop leader, according to Scouts for Equality. 

Geoffrey McGrath, believed to be the first openly gay troop leader, was banned from the Boy Scouts at the beginning of April. 

Rainier Beach United Methodist Church's Troop 98 and Pack 98 defended their Scoutmaster, however, and refused to force him out. 

"Based on our religious principles, we will continue to act as an autonomous church that does not discriminate," the church's Rev. Monica Corsaro said in a statement to Scouts for Equality. "We will continue to have our Troop meetings here, every Thursday night, with business as usual."

So to be clear the BSA wants this guy discriminated against becasue of his sexuality, and the church that sponsors the local troop refuses to do so.

Well let's hear it for the Rainier Beach United Methodist Church of Seattle, for being so open minded and accepting.

You know it so rarely happens that I am moved to give a positive shout out to a church or religious group that this feels pretty cathartic for me.

Nice to know that not everybody's Bible tells them to hate gay people.

Gun nuts to celebrate their insecurities by strapping on handguns and going out for coffee for a national “Starbucks Appreciation Day.” Highly caffeinated armed cowards crowded into a tiny coffee shop, what could possibly go wrong?

 Starbucks seems an unlikely dueling ground in the national debate over guns, but the ubiquitous coffee chain Friday will once again find itself squarely in the cross hairs in the battle between gun control and gun rights advocates. 

More than 2,000 gun rights activists plan to visit their local Starbucks with their sidearms for a national “Starbucks Appreciation Day.” 

The Seattle-based chain takes no formal position on guns but has a corporate policy of following applicable state gun laws — including “open carry” laws in more than 40 states that allow permit-holding patrons to bring their loaded weapons into the shop while they sip their lattes and caramel macchiatos. 

Gun owners began staging the appreciation days a few years ago when the company faced pressure from gun control advocates to ban firearms from his stores. 

Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz resisted the move, saying in one interview, “I’m not a politician. I run a coffee company and we’re trying to abide by the laws in which we do business.” 

Seriously why don't these assholes just where t-shirts that declare "I am afraid of everything?" After all what else can it mean to walk around the streets of a city with a weapon strapped to your hip all of the time?

Then of course there is the blatant insensitivity to other people who might want to enjoy a coffee as well. 

Plans for a pro-gun display at the Newtown Starbucks has added another layer of tension to the day. 

“Our community is still healing and we find it reprehensible that they are picking Newtown to rally,” David Ackert, spokesman for the Newtown Action Alliance, said in a statement. “It is disturbing to think that tomorrow night you and your children may be sitting in Starbucks when people carrying guns walk through the door.” 

Personally I avoid Starbucks, as I make a fine cup of joe all by myself, but I have to say that if I did want an espresso and entered a store full of Rambo cos players I would walk out and never set foot in the place again.

But hey that's just me. You know, a sane person.

Gee I wonder if this guy will show up?

Small town America is the soul of our country, despite the opinion of the Seattle Weekly’s Ellis Conklin and the lamestream media. Todd and I are on our way to congratulate the graduating class in Republic, Washington, this Saturday and I’m honored and touched by their ingenuity, tenacity, and invitation to speak to these young Americans about to begin their futures. 

Small town America is our heart; it may not be the Ivy Leagues or what Ellis and the media deem acceptable, but these students and this town represent what is good and right about America and the small towns where most of us grew our own roots and values. 

Too often the media forgets its own humble roots and plays the elitist card. Not so this weekend. We are going to congratulate the Tigers of 2013 and have something special for each and every one. They will grow to defend our country, manage our economy, build our families, and work to achieve each of their own personal dreams. 

Sorry, Seattle Weekly, you, as usual, miss the point.

As all of you know I linked to the Seattle Weekly yesterday and it was only about three hours later that the post up above showed up. Coincidence?

What the Seattle Weekly reported, that irritated Snowdrift Snooki so much that she fired up the RAM, is this:

Still, to a large extent, Palin’s visit has drawn a rather ho-hum reaction from the 1,073 folks who populate this old gold mining town in Ferry County. 

“I haven’t heard much about it all, or anyone really talking about it” says Alice Barnes, bartender at Madonna’s, a bar and grill on Main Street. 

“I don’t think there’s that much going on, other than her going to talk at the school. We’ve been left completely out of the loop of this,” sniffs Jim Milner, director of the town’s chamber of commerce. “We’ve been working on our annual Prospector Days celebration next weekend. That will be a lot bigger deal than this.” 

Palin’s star-power is barely a glimmer these a days. “We’ve had no requests from anyone in the national media,” notes Republic High principal Shawn Anderson, who’s coordinating the event. Indeed, it’s been a long, strange journey for the one-time governor Alaska who John McCain recklessly plucked out of obscurity to jump-start his moribund campaign in 2008. 

And of course this:

Certainly, it will be forever cemented in the memory bank of Tyler Weyer, a life-long resident of this wooded hamlet. 

As for Sarah Palin, surely there will be the realization that it has come to this -- and wasn’t it a long way down. 

Palin's ghostwriter may try to frame it as if the Weekly piece was an attack on "small town America" but it was really a recognition of how far the Grizzled Mama's star has fallen in the last five years. And that, THAT, is truly unforgivable in the  world of Sarah Palin.

The new face of the Occupy movement? Update.

Photos of 84-year-old Dorli Rainey being helped by fellow activists after Seattle police blasted a crowd of Occupy protesters with pepper spray Tuesday have popped up on news websites and blogs around the world. 

Occupy Seattle condemned the force, posting a statement on its website shortly after the incident saying “we offer our sympathies to the many protesting patriots that were indiscriminately pepper sprayed including a 4’10” 84 year old woman, a priest and a pregnant woman who as of this writing is still in the hospital.”

Seattle police spokesman Jeff Kappel told the Associated Press he didn't have the details on the Rainey confrontation, but he said pepper spray is “is not age specific. No more dangerous to someone who is 10 or someone who is 80.” 

It is images like this which are going to inspire more and more people to support this movement, and to start believing that the police of this nation are nothing more than jack booted thugs doing the bidding of the 1% instead of fighting alongside their fellow 99% for a better future for them and for their children.

And it is incidents like this that which me wonder if the police are actually getting the proper training they need to understand how dangerous pepper spray can be to certain individuals, such as the elderly, the sickly, or pregnant women?

This device was created to be a non-lethal alternative to drawing a gun in response to a dangerous altercation, it was NOT designed to be indiscriminately sprayed into a crowd of peaceful protesters.

And on that topic here is a statement from the priest who was also sprayed during this incident.

The Wild Ride, Palin-bots, and the importance of reading comprehension.

"Good job helping with the smoke and mirrors, there Frank!"

Somebody alerted me today that there was some a NEW revisionist history being discussed over at the Sea O'Pee, excerpted from a  new Sarah Palin fanzine written by somebody named Frank Aquila.

I took a deep breath and took the plunge, where I discovered this:

Within days of my research of Governor Palin, and my consideration of other possible candidates as choices for the McCain ticket, Trig Palin was born on April 18, 2008. Sarah had been in Texas as the keynote speaker at an energy conference. She began to experience labor pains, but continued to finish her important speech. She contacted her current doctor, who had also delivered her daughter Piper. Sarah caught an Alaska Airlines flight from Dallas to Anchorage, with a stop in Seattle, where she was examined by doctors before returning to Alaska to deliver Trig. Sarah would later say, ”I am not a glutton for pain and punishment. I would have never wanted to travel had I been fully engaged in labor.” Either way, Sarah has always taken the unconventional road and, even if she does not admit it herself, she is one tough lady.

"What?" I began thinking.   "Is this some new attempt to rewrite history by the Sarah in anticipation that Joe and Fred's book  will bring her whole crazy story out to be examined by a new, heretofore unaware, audience?"

And then I got excited, because that would mean they were in a panic, and making a really stupid mistake by changing a very well known story after all of these years. As well as introducing new medical personnel who we could then attempt to contact in order to question their involvement. Of course we would fail to locate this "doctor" because, as we all know, Sarah was not pregnant and had no need to see doctor during that flight.

But then I began to wonder if even Sarah Palin would make a mistake this careless. After all of this time it did not make much sense.

And then I suddenly realized where Aquila had come up with his new version of events.

Actually it was not new at all. It was, in fact, from the earliest known version of the incident which we now refer to as the "Wild Ride."

Journey with me now to the wayback machine, to an ADN story from April 22, 2008.

Palin kept in close contact with Baldwin-Johnson. The contractions slowed to one or two an hour, "which is not active labor," the doctor said. 

"Things were already settling down when she talked to me," Baldwin-Johnson said. Palin did not ask for a medical OK to fly, the doctor said. 

"I don't think it was unreasonable for her to continue to travel back," Baldwin-Johnson said. 

So the Palins flew on Alaska Airlines from Dallas to Anchorage, stopping in Seattle and checking with the doctor along the way. 

"I am not a glutton for pain and punishment. I would have never wanted to travel had I been fully engaged in labor," Palin said. After four kids, the governor said, she knew what labor felt like, and she wasn't in labor. 

Sound familiar?  Except, as anybody with reading skills can discern, the article refers to Palin checking with Baldwin-Johnston, "the doctor" in this scenario, and NOT a Seattle based doctor during her layover.

Clearly THIS is the story that Aquila used as his "research" into Palin's delivery of Trig.

Only his lack of reading comprehension, possibly combined with his difficulty imagining anybody NOT checking in with a Seattle doctor if they were in labor, inspired him to create an entirely new scenario where Palin visited a medical professional before continuing on to Anchorage, and from there all the way to the Mat-Su Regional Hospital, where the "birth" took place.

But just to be clear the ONLY doctor that Sarah Palin was able to manipulate into putting their medical career in jeopardy to help her to fake this birth was Catherine Baldwin-Johnson. A woman who traded away every ounce of her integrity, and now lives the life of a virtual hermit, in service to a woman who abandoned her to her fate without even a glance backward once she had served her purpose.

As one time friend Catherine Mormile describes in "The Rogue: "She recruits those who feel worthless and powerless and uses them as tools. Lyda Green and I call them Zombie rats."

Pretty much sums it up, don't you think.

And this Frank Aquila is just the most recent Zombie rat, in a long line of Zombie rats,  to attempt to provide cover for a woman who would not even bother to piss on him if he were being consumed by flames right in front of her.

Emmonak and other villages in the Yukon Delta have yet to receive any help from Sarah Palin, but some Seattle businessmen are much more compassionate.

Three years ago, Seattle seafood consultant Jon Rowley was drawn to the Yukon River delta by salmon — silver chinook endowed with prodigious amounts of oil that help them swim some 2,000 miles across Alaska to distant Canadian spawning grounds.

With proper handling and marketing, Rowley figured that these fish could gain the same type of celebrity status as the Copper River salmon he began promoting back in the 1980s.
But this winter it's the fishermen, not the fish, that have Rowley's attention.

The fishermen are Yup'ik Eskimos whose villages in western Alaska have been slammed by a dismal salmon season, high fuel prices and recent cold snaps that forced some families to skimp on food as they tried to scrape up enough cash to warm their homes.

Their plight has helped stir an unusual relief effort aimed not at some distant Third World nation but at rural communities in oil-rich Alaska.

Rowley helped launch a monthlong fundraising event that began Sunday at Elliott's Oyster
House at Pier 56 in Seattle, where Yukon chum salmon, marketed as keta, will be on the menu. From 20 to 25 percent of the revenue from each keta plate will be donated to a fuel fund for Alaska villagers.

"These are strong people who are used to enduring hardships," said Rowley. "They do it quietly and are not used to asking for help."

That is very true. What most people fail to realize is that these are proud independent people who felt great shame to have to ask for any help from anybody! Even their very own government.

And as we have seen asking their government did not do them one bit of good anyhow.

But what Nick Tucker's letter did was to enlighten everyday people as to what was happening in Emmonak and other villages.

With the help of Alaskan liberal bloggers, radio hosts, and activists, we were able to get enough help to the village of Emmonak to substantially ease their situation. And that relief started arriving in Emmonak the very day we started raising money.

And now we have this group in Seattle working to provide a long term solution to the problems facing these Alaskans who are essentially living in third world conditions tight here in our state. On behalf of my fellow Alaskans I would like to say thank you Seattle.

My question is why could our government not have helped get a program like this started ten years ago? And why is their NOTHING like this in the planning stage now?

It just makes me sick to my stomach to see my government doing nothing while people from other states come to the aid of my Alaskan brothers and sisters.
