For those of you wondering, the Wordpress website went offline due to an overabundance of traffic.
My web designer, who builds websites for a living, told me that he has NEVER seen that happen before, and certainly never on the first day!
We have already hit numbers that make the performance here on Blogspot pale by comparison.
Not in the old days perhaps, but at least for the last year or so.
Having said that I want to thank all of you for your many years of support, and for the incredible success of today. Even with all of those setbacks.
We are still tweaking the new site, and hopefully you will soon come to see it as your new home, much like this has felt like home for so many wonderful years.
If you were blacklisted check back at the new site again.

Keep in mind that I will block trolls however.
ReplyDeleteWhaaaaaaaaaat? C'mon dude.

But the change...... I dunno man, feels like a mistake from a loooong time follower, like most your peeps here.
Will this be my last 'lol' ever?
DeleteWill bwahahahahahahahahas be a ban hammer offense at your new dill?

Even if I am what you would consider a troll, I've got tenure over 90% of your regulars guaranfngteed.
DeleteAs another 10 yr adherent of the Blue Page, I agree, a certain amount of snarky pushback is a necessary ingredient. Now, trolls like Alicia, and we all know her “voice,” can be banned forever. She’s ridiculous.

Christian pastor calls Sarah Sanders a ‘surrogate’ for Trump in open letter defending Michelle Wolf
ReplyDeleteDear Sarah,
I’ve been trying to reach you for a few days, but I know you’ve been busy lately with this whole White House Correspondents Dinner business—which I imagine you’re already pretty sick of talking about.
Honestly, I am too.
Please know this has nothing to do with that.
This is about you—and it’s about Jesus. (Well, sort of.)
You see, I’m a Christian and I’ve heard you claim that you’re a Christian too—and watching you work recently, it got me thinking:
How does she do it?
What I mean is, how do you reconcile your supposed faith in Jesus of Nazareth, with your current position as a mouthpiece for this morally malignant President?
As a professed Christian, how do you make peace with the reality that you regularly mount the largest bully pulpit in the nation—and you lie for a living on behalf of a serial predator?
How do you square your Christianity with the realization that you are the most visible and vocal surrogate for a man who is by nearly every measurement—fully devoid of Christlikeness?
Look, all Christians (myself included), feel some measure of fraudulence as we live this life while claiming we’re trying to perpetuate the character of Jesus in the world.
None of us can avoid the hypocrisy inherent in professing faith in a perfectly loving, compassionate, merciful Savior—while being profoundly flawed human beings. That tension and duplicity are ever-present.
But this isn’t that.
This is about actively working for the opposition.
This is about purposeful betrayal of your namesake.
This is about conspiring with the enemy.
I watch you every week as you repeatedly distort the truth,
as you attack journalists who come carrying facts.
as you vilify politicians who oppose your employer’s malfeasance,
as you categorically defend his every vile statement, every personal attack, every nonsensical Tweet, every baseless firing, every legislative assault.
I watch your face contort with the unmistakable tells of a person who doesn’t believe a word they’re saying; one who’s sold their soul and is now hopelessly trapped in a lie about a lie about a lie.
I wonder what Jesus-story you tell yourself, about the fact that every week you stand in front of a microphone and willingly perpetuate falsehoods that do great harm to millions of people?
That has to be rough—or maybe it isn’t.
Maybe it’s a breeze for you now.
Maybe you’ve convinced yourself it’s somehow all the Lord’s work.
Maybe you’ve been on this slippery slope of deception for so long that you actually believe the lies now too.
Or maybe your Jesus and my Jesus are just that different.
Maybe your Jesus is good with deporting immigrants.
Maybe your Jesus celebrates the poor staying poor.
Maybe your Jesus is fine with affairs with porn stars.
Maybe your Jesus is totally cool with supremacist Cabinet members.
Maybe your Jesus amens the banning and the wall-building.
Maybe your Jesus sanctions the fear of brown people.
Maybe your Jesus is pleased with sick people going broke trying to not die.
Maybe your Jesus applauds the racism and the bitterness and the cruelty.
Maybe your Jesus somehow blesses the lies you broker in on behalf of the monster you work for.
If that is your Jesus, Sarah—then know you are evangelizing brilliantly right now.
You are spreading the Gospel of that Jesus exponentially.
You are a powerful preacher of that Jesus to the watching world.
But for my money, that Jesus is the reason so many people want nothing to do with Christianity anymore.
It’s why the Church is hemorrhaging.
It’s why the pews are emptying.
It’s why people run from Christians.
I imagine you feel that thirty seconds of jokes from a comedian is terrible treatment; that you feel unfairly bullied, that feel that you didn’t deserve to be personally attacked.
I imagine you feel like an innocent victim in all this.
Given the countless hours you’ve spent lying to the world and claiming Jesus while you’ve done it—I think you got off easy.

WOW!!! A CHRISTIAN pastor that actually seems to BE a Christian! Kudos to him! (And the POX on all the others who pretend that usurper in the White House is a Christian!)
DeleteAnon @ 2:36 P.M. - spot-on description of a hypocrite! Thank you for posting this!!
DeleteGryphen, CAN YOU MAKE THE FONT different and/or bolder on your new site? It is quite a bit difficult to read - especially that little line below the post, where t says how many comments are there. (And I just noticed that there is a date on that line. That helps a bit, but for myself, I would prefer if the date was up at the title, so people don't ha to click on each post to find the date - but that is just me, I guess...)

Thank you for sharing this well thought out address to Sarah Sanders. My opinion of Sanders is that she lies with ease therefore she surely is a practiced liar. She sold her soul to stand at the podium.

GRYPHEN, while tweaking the new site, would you PLEASE PUT A DATE and maybe a time on each post? Like that, it is easier to get up-to-date, if, say one skips a day or so. Otherwise, it is too cumbersome to click on each and every article to find out if it is a new one or not.
ReplyDeleteHere, with blogspot, it is easy - just scroll down.

WATCH: Ex-federal prosecutor tells Fox News’ Shep Smith that Mueller’s questions were leaked by Trump White House
ReplyDelete...“Things don’t leak in a vacuum,” Smith said while leading up to a questions for former prosecutor Jeffrey Cramer. “The New York Times got this leak for a reason. Our John Roberts got this leak for a reason. By your estimation, what would be a good reason for these questions to have leaked?”
“It certainly didn’t come from Mueller’s office,” Cramer, the former Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois, told the host. “I think it came, obviously, from someone in the White House or his prior lawyers perhaps.”

“And Propecia is associated, you know, is used for hair loss, he doesn’t want to talk about that,” she continued.
“It’s also associated — it has a lot of bad side effects including sexual dysfunction,” Blair reminded. “I think he really doesn’t want to talk about that.”

DeleteTrump’s lawyers are preparing for a ‘showdown’ with Mueller: report
ReplyDeleteAccording to CNN’s sources familiar with Trump’s legal team, the lawyers are “bracing for the dramatic possibility that Mueller would subpoena” the president — a move that could “could force a lengthy court fight” and challenge the president’s legal power “all the way up to the Supreme Court.”
When CNN asked their sources if Trump would ever plead the Fifth Amendment in response to theoretical questions from Mueller, they responded that there are a number of “constitutional challenges” to be met for that to become a possibility.
“Many legal observers believe that if Mueller issues a grand jury subpoena for Trump’s testimony,” CNN noted, “the courts will order the president to comply, because the Supreme Court has repeatedly ordered presidents to comply with subpoenas.”

Ok ok OT. Here is a problem. While congress has failed the average American on many many issues they are camping out in their congressional offices at night. FREE RENT, ELECTRIC, TV, INTERNET, GYM, SHOWERS ETC. Several paid servants on BOTH sides are using their offices to camp out in. What goes on after hours? Dr Jackson walking the halls handing out meds? This is illegal, unethical, Unsanitary and it has been going on for years. How about exposing them? Time for change!! These clowns are not declaring on IRS tax forms their gift. Sorry but they must get their ass out of the building at night. We need to demand that they stop this practice and pay back the taxpayers for their grifting now.
ReplyDeleteBut C Street is full, and rent in DC is EXPENSIVE, and these guys are barely making it on $178,000 a year! Just ask them!

DeleteAnd mj says lets find out what happened in 2016? HOW ABOUT THE ELECTION WAS RIGGED BY TREASON AND COLLUSION from Russia, and trump republicans. What happened? IT WAS HACKED, ATTACKED AND CRIMINAL.
ReplyDeleteI understand change is needed. But as someone else stated before, having a date on the home page of each posting is EXTREMELY helpful. A timeline as to what was posted when. I shouldn't have to click on each individual post to see when it was written. I kinda like the cleaner look and your Gryphen avatar. Just a few tweaks here and there to keep your followers.
ReplyDeleteSo trump bullied his dr bornstien. Took records for Donald john trump, john barron, and john miller. Hair pills, prostate pills, and what else? Ambien? wake up pills?

DeleteI like change in general. Your new site looks good, however I have a few comments:
ReplyDelete- could you keep the blue? I miss it
- there are more news on the sides than in the middle column.
- a lot of your titles are long, and they don’t look as good on the right and left columns. Maybe the font should be smaller there?
- I agree with the previous comments about dates. They should be visible from the home page.
Thank you for your work. I have been following you for many years.
Gotta write my own law school recommendation letters and have profs sign them. You will have the best and most intelligent student ever...
ReplyDeleteYes, the best student I ever had-creative, diligent, honest. He will be the best law student in the history of Harvard, ever the best. Amazing how smart this young man is. I've never had a better student in my English class.
DeleteGryphen, please check out Palmerreport.com for a better font lay-out. I am on an iPad, and I can increase his font easily. I cannot increase yours at all. His is also easier to read to start out with - the type is darker.
ReplyDeleteAlso check out how his comments section is organized.
My comment on the new site, it is very difficult to find the latest postings and the dates are very difficult to read because they are so small.
ReplyDeleteIt appears that the postings are placed depending on the photo instead of when they were posted.
I have made several web sites and so far I would not call this a user friendly site at all.
Too bad because I really have enjoyed visiting this site since 2008, enjoyed the comments of others and enjoyed commenting myself. Now I am not so sure it is worth the time to look for the latest postings.
Also the site is not phone friendly.
Oh Gryphen, I'm trying so hard to get used to your new 'home'.
ReplyDeleteSome sort of home page format tweak that shows a paragraph or two of content would be helpful. On the old format I may not read every post but I can glance quickly (by which I mean read a paragraph or two) without having to click. The big headlines and photos dominate too much; if every photo is a Palin or Trump then they're not useful indicators of what make this post special. It's the gestalt (to use that word for the first time in a decade) of headline plus wit (text) with photo perhaps the least important item of the three...that makes the old format work better than the current draft. (The non-chronological scattering of undated posts is a bad trend, hopefully easily fixed).
ReplyDeleteYES, yes, yes. Gryphen, please have your website designer read this post above and follow these suggestions about including more of the content without having to click on the article. Sure, you think the extra clicks will help you in terms of SEO for Google rankings. However, if people won't come to the website at all, then the internal clicks don't help your popularity at all. A short paragraph showing on the front page would make your site a LOT easier to read. Otherwise, you'll lose a lot of loyal readers.
DeleteWTF? I am gone for one day and you have a new site? Well. I went over there and felt disoriented. I hope you plan to keep this one for those of us who don't like change in formatting. Hee hee. Makes us just like those Donald Trump supporters aye?

And he did it. Got 18 Republicans to nominate him for a Nobel Peace Prize, because you know, Obama has one. Unfortunately I don’t think it is going to sway the Nobel committee. Plus, it’s possible he just wrote the nomination himself and had them sign it. You know. Like his doctor’s notes.

“A group of 18 House Republicans has nominated President Donald Trump for the 2019 Nobel Peace Prize for his work on North Korea.
“Although North Korea has evaded demands from the international community to cease its aggression for decades, President Trump’s peace through strength policies are working and bringing peace to the Korean peninsula,” write the lawmakers in their nomination letter. “We can think of no one more deserving of the Committee’s recognition in 2019 than President Trump for his tireless work to bring peace to our world.”
Rep. Luke Messer (R-Ind.) is the leader of the effort, which he first proposed in March.”
March? Wasn’t that before all of the movements and overtures between North and South Korea took place?
I wonder, if Messer loses his primary, will he take his letter back?
“President Barack Obama was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2009, less than one year into his first term ― an honor that infuriated conservatives. The Norwegian Nobel Committee pointed to “his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples” and “attached special importance to Obama’s vision of and work for a world without nuclear weapons.””
Oh, yeah. Trump getting a Nobel so isn’t going to happen. Not unless he has a break though in String Theory or cures cancer.
Oddly enough, i would be agreeable to letting 45* have a pity Nobel if he would take it and his swamp and go to Russia.
DeleteTy Cobb is OUT as Trump’s lawyer.
ReplyDeletehttps://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/trump-cobb-flood-mueller_us_5ae9e922e4b022f71a04650d
Oooo. And he’s being replaced with Clinton’s Impeachment Lawyer!
“President Donald Trump plans to replace White House lawyer Ty Cobb with Emmet T. Flood, a lawyer who represented former President Bill Clinton during his late-1990s impeachment hearings, The New York Times reported Wednesday.
“For several weeks Ty Cobb has been discussing his retirement and last week he let Chief of Staff Kelly know he would retire at the end of the month,” White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said in a statement confirming Cobb’s departure.
The Washington Post subsequently confirmed the Times report that Flood would replace him.
Trump has reportedly been discussing the shakeup with confidantes for weeks. Cobb was the lead White House lawyer dealing with requests from special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation.
“It has been an honor to serve the country in this capacity at the White House,” Cobb told the Times. “I wish everybody well moving forward.”
One White House official who spoke on condition of anonymity said Cobb’s departure did not indicate a crisis — or at least a crisis beyond the daily one. “A normal chaos day,” the official said.
Cobb’s departure leaves the president’s legal team without a person holding a security clearance to deal with the sensitive information in the Russia investigation and negotiations with Mueller.”
Bwa ha ha. None of them have a security clearance? Do you know how long it takes to get a security clearance?
“Flood spent two years in the Bush administration’s White House Counsel’s office, representing former President George W. Bush in “executive privilege-related disputes,” according to a statement on his firm’s website. He also represented former Vice President Dick Cheney in a lawsuit brought by former CIA agent Valerie Plame.
The Times reported in mid-March that Trump was considering adding Flood to the White House team, saying that his main role would be assisting with the president’s Justice Department dealings. Flood reportedly passed on an opportunity to join the White House team last summer.”
Gee I wonder what Trump offered him that he couldn’t refuse in order to get him to change his mind?
https://www.yahoo.com/news/republican-sen-cory-gardner-introduce-cannabis-bill-states-rights-elizabeth-warren-204517705.html
ReplyDelete“Sen. Cory Gardner, R-Colo., is teaming up with Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., on a bill that could finally reconcile the current discrepancy between federal and state cannabis laws.
Earlier this year, Gardner protected thriving marijuana industries in states like Colorado by threatening to block all Justice Department nominees after Attorney General Jeff Sessions killed the 2013 “Cole memo,” which effectively allowed states to determine their own cannabis laws. Earlier this week, Gardner co-sponsored the Hemp Farming Act of 2018 with the aim of removing that form of cannabis from Schedule 1, the list of substances, including heroin, under the strictest federal controls.”
“And he’s not finished yet. Gardner is working with colleagues on a bipartisan legislative solution that can pass Congress and appear on President Trump’s desk — so he can deliver on his campaign position to make cannabis a states’ rights issue.”
We’ll see if Republicans will embrace state’s rights when it comes to Marijuana now that John Boehner has pointed out there is money to be made if you get in on the ground floor.
And somebody gave Senator Feinstein some of that sweet kushy weed money cuz now she's all for it, too.
DeleteGreen for green, eh?
Legalize it and tax it. Ask Colorado how that's working.
DeleteThe biggest market is looking like medicinal cannabinoid oil. It doesn't have THC so you don't get high. It's being used in lotions and creams topically to ease pain.
I doubt a lot of the claims being pushed now, but until it is legalized and more studies can be done, all there is is anecdotal information on what it might or might not do.
It is a simple plant that humans have used for thousands of years, as a medicine, a sacrament for some, a tonic, nutritious seeds, oil that can be pressed, pain reliever, appetite stimulus, and/or just to have a good old time a laugh and play music.
DeleteThere don't even need to be any more supposed studies done. Just legalize both non thc hemp and thc laden marijuana and be done.
And for all those saying they were in it for the money:
ReplyDeletehttps://www.yahoo.com/news/black-men-arrested-starbucks-settle-162233584.html
“Two black men arrested for sitting at a Philadelphia Starbucks without ordering anything settled with the city Wednesday for a symbolic $1 each and a promise from officials to set up a $200,000 program for young entrepreneurs.
The men and their lawyer told The Associated Press the settlement was an effort to make sure something positive came out of the incident.
“We thought long and hard about it and we feel like this is the best way to see that change that we want to see,” said Donte Robinson, one of those arrested. “It’s not a right-now thing that’s good for right now, but I feel like we will see the true change over time.”
The arrest of Rashon Nelson and Robinson on April 12 touched off a furor around the U.S. over racial profiling. They were led away in handcuffs and accused of trespassing after the manager called police, saying the men refused to buy anything or leave. After spending hours in jail, they were released and no charges were filed.
Their arrest record will be expunged as part of the deal.”
Zuckerberg is going to have Facebook rank news organizations to decide their priority in the news feed. Only he isn’t going to vet them on accuracy. He is going to let facebook users vote for the ones they “trust” the most. If there was ever a reason to finally delete your Facebook account and never go there again, this is it.
ReplyDeletehttps://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/mark-zuckerberg-facebook-media-trust_us_5ae90e25e4b00f70f0ed0725
“Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said in a meeting Tuesday with media executives that the company has begun implementing a system of ranking news organizations by trust, relying on user surveys to determine which news sources are “broadly trusted.”
News organizations that scored higher on the ranking would be promoted in Facebook’s News Feed, while those with lower trust scores would be suppressed, Zuckerberg said. The effort is part of Facebook’s pledge to “take a broader view of our responsibilities,” he said after a bruising year in which the platform has been criticized for being used to undermine elections, foment division and spread hate speech. ”
In what way is this EFFING RESPONSIBLE? Didn’t he learn anything from the past year and that congressional testimony?
https://www.theatlantic.com/technology/archive/2018/05/mark-zuckerberg-doesnt-understand-journalism/559424/
“According to Zuckerberg, the way you find common ground—a common set of facts—is not through professional news outlets, but via individuals. And Facebook, with its 2 billion or so users, has plenty of them. But while Zuckerberg said Facebook is now ranking news outlets by trustworthiness—in person, he didn’t seem to distinguish among the quality of opinions.
“I do think that in general, within a news organization, there is an opinion,” he said. “I do think that a lot of what you all do, is have an opinion and have a view.”
And Facebook, he says, simply “has more opinions.” Show users more opinions, and you give them more options. “It’s not about saying here’s one view; here’s the other side,” Zuckerberg said when I asked him to reconcile the contradiction. “You should decide where you want to be.”
Deciding what to believe based on other people’s opinions is not only not journalistic, it’s arguably hostile to the press as a democratic institution. The truth may be nuanced, but reportable facts are often quite straightforward. As any journalist can tell you, the best answer to the question “what happened?” is not why don’t you ask a bunch of your friends what they think, organize their views along a spectrum, and then decide where to plant yourself.”
(And I still really hate this format, the font, the clutter, the inability to see all of the posts from most recent on back, to have to scroll past junk to see the comments. How do I loathe this new format and design? Let me count the ways. Just set it to Georgia already.)

“A great friend of this president, a tireless champion of strong borders and the rule of law,” Pence said during a speech about tax cuts. “Sheriff Joe Arpaio, I’m honored to have you here.””
Rule of law? RULE OF LAW?
“Arpaio, who is running for Senate in Arizona, engaged in unlawful policing and racial profiling during his time as sheriff, a 2011 report by the Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division determined.”
“Arpaio was convicted of criminal contempt last year for violating a 2011 order that barred him and his staff from detaining people based on their suspected immigration status. ”

"House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) said Thursday that he accepts House Chaplain Patrick Conroy’s decision to rescind his resignation.
“I have accepted Father Conroy’s letter and decided that he will remain in his position as Chaplain of the House,” Ryan said in a statement. “It is my job as speaker to do what is best for this body, and I know that this body is not well served by a protracted fight over such an important post.”
Conroy wrote a two-page letter to Ryan earlier on Thursday, accusing the speaker of ousting him from his role without cause last month, The Washington Post reported.

"Officials in Knox County, Tennessee, are trying to gather more information about a cyberattack that crashed a government website that displayed election results to the public during its primary election for local offices on Tuesday.
Dick Moran, the county’s top IT official, believes Knox County was the target of a denial-of-service attack in which actors with both domestic and foreign IP addresses deliberately flooded the county’s servers with traffic to try and crash them. The county website displaying election results went down for about an hour as polls closed on Tuesday. The crash meant that people who went to check election results between 8 and 9 p.m. on election night received an error message, according to the Knoxville News Sentinel. While the website was down, election officials printed out hard copies of the election results and gave them to reporters, WBIR, a local NBC affiliate, reported.
Knox County Mayor Tim Burchett (R) said on Wednesday that the crash didn’t impact “vote tallies or the integrity of the election,” but that the county had hired a security firm to investigate the cause of the crash.
“This is not something that should happen,” he said in a statement. “I want to know what happened, and I think an independent review will help to determine that so we can move forward and work to prevent similar issues in the future.”

"Fourteen climate researchers, including six from U.S. universities, have been selected for French President Emmanuel Macron’s “Make Our Planet Great Again” initiative. The scientists applied to move to France to carry out climate science projects in the country’s top research laboratories.
The selected researchers include some of America’s brightest scientific talents: Alexey Fedorov, a Yale professor and Guggenheim fellow, and James Clark, a Duke University climate expert, according to a press release Wednesday from France’s Ministry of Higher Education and Research.
Researchers hailing from universities in several other countries, including Canada and Saudi Arabia, also were selected.
The applicants’ projects, covering a range of topics including Arctic climate change and improving air quality, are expected to last three to five years. Each researcher will receive at least $600,000 in funding, according to the statement, which noted that Germany is now jointly supporting the initiative."
"The first group of 18 scientists selected for the program was announced in December. That group included 13 researchers from U.S. universities, including Camille Parmesan, a professor at the University of Texas and U.K.’s University of Plymouth who was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007 for her work as a lead author for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.
“The impact of Trump on climate science has been far greater than what the public believe it has,” Parmesan told The Guardian of her decision to move to France to continue her research. “He has not only slashed funding, but he’s gone on the attack in any way he can with his powers as the president.”"

Pence's office says it was "informed today by the White House Medical Unit of the resignation" involving Dr. Jennifer Pena.
The vice president's office says "physicians assigned to the vice president report to the White House Medical Unit" and any resignation goes through the Medical Unit.
The resignation came after concerns that Jackson, as head of the medical unit, may have violated federal privacy protections involving the vice president's wife, Karen Pence. ReplyDeleteA memorandum issued last month by the Fish and Wildlife Service principal deputy director, Greg Sheehan, declared that it’s “not appropriate” for staff to tell developers when they need to obtain such a permit — even though it may be required by law in many circumstances.
Under a section of the 1973 Endangered Species Act, businesses and individuals must request what’s called an “incidental take permit” if they believe their developments could interfere with the habitats of endangered species.
Sheehan insists in his memo that it’s the “decision of the applicant” whether or not to apply for such a permit. Staff members should not use “mandatory language (e.g., a permit is ‘required’),” the memo warns."

"Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds (R) on Friday signed a law that would effectively ban abortions at six weeks of pregnancy, the nation’s strictest abortion legislation to date, setting up a legal battle with Planned Parenthood and the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).
ReplyDeleteThe Republican-controlled state legislature passed the legislation, known as the “fetal heartbeat” bill, earlier this week, part of a wave of GOP-backed abortion restrictions introduced at the state level in recent years.
The law requires women seeking abortions to undergo an ultrasound, banning the procedure if a fetal heartbeat is detected — typically at about six weeks into a pregnancy. It includes exceptions for rape, incest and the life of the mother.
Medical professionals say that the law is far too stringent, as some women do not even know they are pregnant at six weeks.

"America's abortion clinics experienced a major upsurge in trespassing, obstruction and blockades by anti-abortion activists in 2017, according to an annual survey by an industry group.
The National Abortion Federation report chronicled a litany of actions that ranged from coordinated trespassing efforts by abortion opponents, repeated brick-throwing at windows of a Cleveland clinic and an attempted bombing in Illinois."
Gee, I wonder what could have motivated this upswing in hate and violence? 2017. Hmmm. What was different about 2017?
Orange you glad I asked?
""The protesters are feeling emboldened by the political environment and seeing what they could get away with," said the federation's president, Vicki Saporta. "They want to make it more difficult to provide care, without going to very extreme forms of violence.""
"At least 10 people were arrested last May when anti-abortion activists blocked the entrance to the EMW Women's Surgical Center in Louisville, Kentucky — the last abortion clinic still operating in the state. Saporta said the protesters, organized by the militant anti-abortion group Operation Save America, were emboldened by Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin's high-profile efforts to shut down the clinic."
"Elsewhere, several trespassing arrests occurred during coordinated actions by anti-abortion protesters in Virginia, Michigan and other states. Activists entered clinics, conveyed their anti-abortion views to patients, and refused to leave when told to do so by law enforcement."
Hmmm. A lot of these states sound like states that Trump won. In other words, red states.
Any correlation?
What prompted the "new website" and what makes it better? more truthful? and welcoming? Just asking.
ReplyDeleteBlogger occasionally burped and had access problems for commenters and for Gryphen as administrator. Also an abundance of trolls that Gryphen had difficulty in controlling in blogger.
DeleteHe's kept his anonymous poster policy over there so I think he is going to find the trolls will still have access. He won't be able to ban them all.
It has a nice logo. Maybe it's easier for him to administrate. I have Blogger, Wordpress and Dreamwidth. I find Dreamwidth easiest but then I have a very private blog and access is extremely restrictive.
He also hired someone to design the new site and there have been some growing pains regarding format, font, etc.
I complained too much and am now banned so I'm back here for the duration. No big deal. I had already left as I found it very difficult to navigate. I could never find the newest posts and got tired of constantly having to go back to the home page, which never seemed to change and go through every category looking for new posts. There were also advertisements all over it, top, bottom and both sides. It got to be too much. The font was also difficult to read on the white background. If I had done it I would have told the designer to mirror this site and then introduced gradual changes over the next few months rather than doing it all at once and then trying to fix what wasn't working. But it's not my site, it's his and he can do what he wants.
Better? That's relative.
More truthful? It's the same as it always was.
More welcoming? Again, that's relative. Most of the commenters are Anonymous, so you don't know who you are talking to. Pretty hard to build a community when everyone is hiding their identity. I think I was the only one using my Wordpress account with my name and photo icon.

Don’t know and it doesn’t really matter. I couldn’t navigate the site, it’s hard to read and it’s it’s still full of anonymous posters. I was the only one using my
DeleteWordpress account with my handle and icon, just like here. I guess the webmaster didn’t appreciate the suggestions and that made me an easy target. Others made some of the same suggestions but you know, anonymous and all that.
I’ll keep posting interesting news and comments here as long as this site is up. You know, like we used to and how I thought would still be acceptable at the new site.
It is NOT my intention to take over Gryphen’s site or become a primary news content provider. I’m just the only one that comes here anymore.
I have no idea what the “rules of the new blog” are but I doubt I violated them. I never insulted anyone, I didn’t use any off color language, although I have been prone to for emphasis in the past, I did not foment a riot, encourage a boycott or in any way suggest people leave. I simply pointed out what wasn’t working for me and said I couldn’t take it any more and I left. I went back once or twice to see if there was any improvement but I’m locked out so have no idea what is going on there any more.
So I guess I’m kinda quitting cold turkey instead of just gradually moving on. Kinda sad after 10 years. The community we had just doesn’t exist any more.
Go check it out for yourself. There is a link in the previous post with Sarah Palin’s picture. I think it’s two back.
And you’re always welcome to come back here. At least it will relieve me of constantly talking to myself.

"Despite his rank incompetence in every branch of government, Trump has managed to create an efficient pipeline of far-right judges to the federal bench, filing it four times faster than Obama through his first year. However, even as the court has become a reactionary institution, my analysis of Cooperative Congressional Election Studies reveals a disturbing pattern: Democrats mostly have positive views of the court and see it as a centrist institution rather than one that explicitly seeks to advance the Republican agenda."
"Despite the Supreme Court coming down on the side of corporate power and against progressives on issues such as school busing, corporate money in politics, gun control, public financing, women’s reproductive freedom, health care and green energy, progressives’ perspective of a centrist court has grown in recent years."
"The court feels comfortable because they are seen as a nonpolitical institution. Voters must understand that judges are politicians in robes, and that, right now, conservatives have an unchecked majority. It’s time for progressives to start taking the court seriously."
Everything Trump has done can be undone EXCEPT his court appointments. They are for life. Democrats are even ratifying his nominations without much opposition. We are going to be suffering them at every level of the courts for decades to come. Gorsucks is bad. But if the Supreme Court loses another judge we are going to be in deep shit. The next nominee will be worse than Gorsucks. If we lose Ginsburg, we are totally screwed.
Oh, God. I read your' post and got depressed. But you are right. I don't know what's with the Dems and why they have their tails between their legs. Seems like maybe, everyone was of the same mind as Trump and didn't realize it till he came along.

Courts and Judges - 05-08-2018
Deletehttps://www.yahoo.com/news/trump-push-conservative-judges-intensifies-democrats-dismay-100352237.html
"As President Donald Trump pursues his goal of making the federal judiciary more conservative, his fellow Republicans who control the Senate are poised to confirm another batch of his picks for influential U.S. appeals courts to the dismay of some Democrats.
The Senate this week is set to take up six of Trump's nominees to the regional appeals courts, including four from states that have at least one Democratic senator.
A long-standing Senate tradition that gave senators clout over judicial nominees from their home states has been fraying for years, meaning Democrats have less of a chance of blocking appointees they oppose, as they did with some success during Republican former President George W. Bush's administration."
"Brennan, Bounds and other Trump nominees who may be opposed by home-state Democratic senators are likely to win confirmation because of the Republicans' 51-49 Senate majority.
Trump has made quick progress in reshaping federal appeals courts, winning Senate confirmation of 15 nominees to fill vacancies on federal appeals courts. Trump's Democratic predecessor Barack Obama won confirmation of nine appeals court judges by the same point in his first term.
Trump also has been picking a raft of conservative jurists for lower federal courts and won Senate confirmation last year of Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch.
The regional appeals courts play a major role in shaping U.S. law. The judges hear appeals from federal district courts and usually have the final say, as the U.S. Supreme Court takes up only a tiny proportion of cases.
The appeals courts can set binding precedents on a broad array of issues, including voting rights, gun rights and other divisive social issues."
We have a very important opening on the influential and significant Ninth Circuit due to the death of a quite liberal judge.
Feinstein vows to block anyone unqualified but if they are denying Congresspeople their traditional "blackball" privileges, what can be done?
"For Trump and his party, setting aside a long-standing Senate tradition may be a worthwhile price to pay to achieve what Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has called a top goal: shifting the ideological composition of the federal judiciary to the right.
For Trump, nine of the 15 appeals court vacancies he has filled have been on regional courts that already leaned conservative. His administration now aims to fill vacancies in regional courts from states represented by Democratic senators."
"There are 148 vacancies in the federal judiciary, with 68 pending nominees. Trump inherited a large number of vacancies in part because McConnell and his fellow Senate Republicans refused to confirm Obama's nominees to fill some of the jobs before he left office in January 2017, including Supreme Court nominee Merrick Garland."
And if I've failed to mention it lately, fuck Bitch McConnell.

While other groups have tried to pick up the slack, there’s a reason Republicans haven’t selected a new organization to serve as the voter fraud boogeyman: nobody is doing the same caliber work on the same scale that ACORN did.
And while just about every possible explanation for Trump’s 77,744-vote margin of victory in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Michigan has been explored to death, almost nobody talks about the effect ACORN might have had in those states.
If Congress has learned any lessons from the ACORN episode, you wouldn’t know it from the legislative record. Each year, government spending bills typically include new bans on funding for ACORN or its successors ― a term with no legal definition. Congress blocked money for ACORN again in its March funding bill.
Issa, who championed the original, successful defunding effort in 2009, told HuffPost that ACORN offshoots might still be at large, though he could not name any. The conservative group Judicial Watch hasn’t raised alarms about an alleged ACORN affiliate receiving federal funds since 2014.
Bardella, the former Issa spokesman, said Republicans had been right to investigate ACORN’s use of federal funds and its finances back in 2009. But he said Issa is probably foolish to raise the specter of ACORN successor groups running amok.

"Trump lawyer Michael Cohen took out lines of credit worth as much as $774,000 during the 2016 presidential campaign, The Wall Street Journal reports. Federal prosecutors examining Cohen’s personal business dealings are said to be looking into whether he made any illicit campaign donations to Trump during that time, and also any other payments he may have made to cover up problems for the soon-to-be-president. In February 2016, just months before Trump won the GOP presidential nomination, Cohen increased the amount he could use on a bank credit line to $245,000, and shortly before that he gained access to another $529,000 from a new mortgage he and his wife co-signed for a condo at Trump World Tower, according to the Journal. Delete"President Donald Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One last month that he didn’t know about a $130,000 payment made by his lawyer, Michael Cohen, to porn star Stormy Daniels weeks before the 2016 election. That statement was contradicted last week by another Trump attorney, Rudy Giuliani, who said the president had reimbursed Cohen for the expense.
Speaking on CNN on Sunday, White House counselor Kellyanne Conway claimed there’s an explanation for that discrepancy: Trump wasn’t telling reporters he didn’t know about the payment. He was saying he didn’t know about it when it was made.
“In speaking with the president just yesterday, when the president said “No” on Air Force One, he was talking about he didn’t know when the payment occurred,” Conway told Jake Tapper. “It was a very fast-moving exchange… He’s saying he didn’t know about when the payment occurred. He found out about it after the fact.”"
"What Trump knew about the payment to Daniels is significant because it could comprise an illegal campaign contribution, if Cohen made it in order to protect Trump’s candidacy from a damaging news about an affair. Trump has denied the affair with Daniels happened, and Giuliani claims the payment was made to protect Trump’s family from an embarrassing story."
My opinion? They're reaching. They're desperate. They are going to fire Giuliani as soon as it doesn't look like they're firing him over this. And Mueller already knows all of it. He's just lining up his ducks before he starts shooting. He's going to have iron clad proof.
All Giuliani and Conjob are doing is giving Mueller blatant clues as to how they are going to try to explain away and defend all of this.
And it isn't going to work.
OH. And those two lying clowns aren't done sticking their big clown feet in their gaping maws yet.

"Advisers to President Donald Trump declined on Sunday to rule out that women other than porn star Stormy Daniels received money to keep silent about alleged affairs with the businessman-turned-politician.
Rudy Giuliani, who recently joined the president’s legal team, said he was unaware of any other such payments brokered by Trump attorney Michael Cohen, but he left a wide door open for them.
“I have no knowledge of that, but I would think if it was necessary, yes,” Giuliani told George Stephanopoulos in an interview on ABC’s “This Week” about the possibility. "
"Speaking on CNN’s “State of the Union,” White House counselor Kellyanne Conway said she didn’t personally know about payments other than the one to Daniels, though she added an important caveat.
If such payments were made, “They didn’t cross my desk as campaign manager” in the 2016 election, Conway told Jake Tapper."
Yeah, they need to keep them off the TV.
The only reason I can see for either of these statements is they KNOW there are other payments and that Mueller has evidence of them from Cohen's seized materials.
Oh, doG, he's at it again.

"In an interview Sunday with ABC's "This Week," Giuliani dismissed as rumor his own statements about Trump's payment to adult-film actress Stormy Daniels, said he can't speak to whether the president lied to the American people when he denied knowledge of the silencing agreement and wouldn't rule out the president asserting his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination in the Russia investigation. Giuliani also couldn't say whether Trump's personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, had made similar payments to other women on the president's behalf."
So, Trump would take the 5th and there may be other women?
""The mob takes the Fifth Amendment," Trump said. "If you're innocent, why are you taking the Fifth Amendment?""
Ergo, Drumpf and the entire Drumpf Crime family are not innocent and are defacto 'mob'

"President Donald Trump is growing increasingly irritated with lawyer Rudy Giuliani's frequently off-message media blitz, in which he has muddied the waters on hush money paid to porn actress Stormy Daniels and made claims that could complicate the president's standing in the special counsel's Russia probe.
Trump has begun questioning whether Giuliani, the former New York City mayor, should be sidelined from television interviews, according to two people familiar with the president's thinking but not authorized to speak publicly about private discussions.
Trump also expressed annoyance that Giuliani's theatrics have breathed new life into the Daniels story and extended its lifespan. It's a concern shared by Trump allies who think Giuliani is only generating more legal and political trouble for the White House."

California's gross domestic product rose by $127 billion from 2016 to 2017, surpassing $2.7 trillion, the data said. Meanwhile, the UK's economic output slightly shrunk over that time when measured in U.S. dollars, due in part to exchange rate fluctuations."
"California's economic output is now surpassed only by the total GDP of the United States, China, Japan and Germany. The state has 12 percent of the U.S. population but contributed 16 percent of the country's job growth between 2012 and 2017. Its share of the national economy also grew from 12.8 percent to 14.2 percent over that five-year period, according to state economists.
California's strong economic performance relative to other industrialized economies is driven by worker productivity, said Lee Ohanian, an economics professor at University of California, Los Angeles and director of UCLA's Ettinger Family Program in Macroeconomic Research. The United Kingdom has 25 million more people than California but now has a smaller GDP, he said.
California's economic juggernaut is concentrated in coastal metropolises around San Francisco, San Jose, Los Angeles and San Diego.
"The non-coastal areas of CA have not generated nearly as much economic growth as the coastal areas," Ohanian said in an email." (That's because tech is on the coast and agriculture is inland.)
"The state calculates California's economic ranking as if it were a country by comparing state-level GDP from the Bureau of Economic Analysis at the U.S. Department of Commerce with global data from the International Monetary Fund."
Personally, I'd be all for secession. Let's see what the GDP of the US would be if California was suddenly gone. We've always sent more tax money to the Feds than we've ever received so it would be a win for us.

The service is planned for Washington’s National Cathedral and will have eulogies read by former Presidents Barack Obama and George W. Bush, a source close to McCain told NBC News."

"So you'd think she'd have a lot to talk about with David Letterman on his new Netflix show, My Next Guest Needs No Introduction. And she did—although it might not have been what he was expecting. Fey's spoken about the importance of diversity in the writers’ room before, recently in Variety's April "Power of Women" issue. Meanwhile, late-night comedy shows—like Letterman's old Late Show—still are notorious for being a boys club. Although women are beginning to pave the way for other aspiring female comedians and hosts like Samantha Bee and, most recently, Busy Philipps, gender inequality still prevails in the writers room and in front of the camera.
So when Letterman attempted to explain why he'd had few women employed as writers, Fey put him squarely in his place."
Proof positive that Donald JUDAS Trump is a RACIST.
ReplyDeleteHe's deporting 1 MILLION LEGAL immigrants. (Because policy is to go for the easy kill, the low hanging fruit.)
https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/trump-tps-daca_us_5aecbb97e4b0c4f1932282a0
"From the day he launched his presidential campaign, Donald Trump has made it pretty clear what he wants America to look like. He doesn’t want Mexico’s “bad people,” immigrants from countries he did or did not describe as “shithole nations,” or refugees he says are a “Trojan horse” seeking to do Americans harm.
And he’s made some progress in carrying out that vision. Trump has moved to terminate temporary protections for more than a million people, effectively telling a population the size of Rhode Island to either leave the country or face deportation. He’s looking to make it harder for asylum-seekers to find refuge in the U.S. And Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested more than 140,000 immigrants last fiscal year, while building up a force that will aim to detain tens of thousands more.
Trump’s latest efforts to curb immigration came on Friday, when the Department of Homeland Security announced it will end temporary protected status, or TPS, for immigrants from Honduras. That means 57,000 Hondurans who found refuge in the U.S. after Hurricane Mitch wrecked their country in 1998 will have to leave or find another legal status by 2020.
The move didn’t come as a surprise. In the past year, the Trump administration has done the same for about 200,000 TPS holders from El Salvador, 46,000 from Haiti, 9,000 from Nepal, 2,500 from Nicaragua and 1,000 from Sudan, and for 4,000 Liberians who were in the U.S. on another type of temporary visa. The administration has effectively decimated TPS, announcing plans to terminate its protections for about 98 percent of current recipients, based on the argument that conditions in their native countries have improved."
These people aren't in the country illegally. They're not criminals. They aren't sponging off welfare. They are business owners, workers, productive people who pay taxes.

But while some of the legal arguments may be familiar, the timing of this particular lawsuit is likely to sow confusion in the courts and chaos in federal agencies. The stakes are highest for the almost 700,000 US residents brought here illegally as children who have been deemed low priorities for deportation under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program former President Barack Obama created by executive order in 2012."
"The end result is likely to be yet another showdown in the US Supreme Court over the breadth of presidential power in immigration, something Republicans criticized when Mr. Obama was in the White House and something that Democrats have criticized since Donald Trump replaced him."
Supreme Court. Gorsucks.
"The DACA program has been in effect for six years, but the lawsuit filed by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton on Tuesday represents the first direct challenge to the program’s lawfulness. The lawsuit asks for an order blocking the Trump administration from issuing or renewing any DACA permits."

"Connecticut’s legislature has passed a bill that would give the state’s Electoral College votes to the presidential candidate who wins the popular vote nationally.
The state Senate voted 21-14 on Saturday to join the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact, which includes 10 states and the District of Columbia. The state House passed the measure last week, 77 to 73."
This is a legal way to bypass a Constitutional amendment getting rid of the Electoral College. They're just going to give their electoral votes to the winner of the popular vote. Not that it can't be undone in the future, but it's a start.
"The compact requires its members to cast their Electoral College ballots for the presidential candidate who wins the national popular vote. The agreement goes into effect once states representing at least 270 electoral votes — the number needed for a candidate to win the presidency — signs the compact."
"Connecticut Gov. Dannel Malloy (D) has promised to sign the legislation committing his state to the interstate agreement. Once he does so, the compact will have 172 electoral votes. California, Hawaii, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington and the District of Columbia have already signed the accord."
"State Rep. Matthew Lesser (D) said it’s taken a decade of lobbying to convince Connecticut lawmakers to join the compact.
Trump’s victory, Lesser told AP, appears to have given the issue “some renewed momentum.” "
Gee. Ya think?
https://www.nationalpopularvote.com/written-explanation
Here's a little tidbit from the site:
"State winner-take-all statutes adversely affect governance. “Battleground” states receive 7% more federal grants than “spectator” states, twice as many presidential disaster declarations, more Superfund enforcement exemptions, and more No Child Left Behind law exemptions.
Also, because of state winner-take-all statutes, five of our 45 Presidents have come into office without having won the most popular votes nationwide. The 2000 and 2016 elections are the most recent examples of elections in which a second-place candidate won the White House. Near-misses are also common under the current state-by-state winner-take-all method of awarding electoral votes. A shift of 59,393 votes in Ohio in 2004 would have elected John Kerry despite President Bush’s nationwide lead of over 3,000,000 votes. "

"Democrats, led by Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie, have the majority in a joint session and will hold sway over who gets the position.
The session had not been announced as of midnight and it was not clear when the meeting would take place.
Meanwhile, Sept. 13 is primary day for state offices in New York. Schneiderman had been a lock for the AG nomination until The New Yorker published a story Monday detailing multiple abuse allegations by women with whom he had romantic relationships.
Candidates for the Democratic nomination for attorney general can be nominated at state party committee meetings over the next month or file petitions with voter signatures in June to get on the ballot."
I'm hoping for Preet Bharara.
"Potential candidates for the Democratic primary include city Public Advocate Letitia James, Councilman Dan Garodnick and Queens state senator Mike Gianaris, several Albany insiders said.
Other possible candidates include Congresswoman Kathleen Rice, Fordham law professor Zephyr Teachout and state Sen. Todd Kaminsky.
A Republican opponent, Manny Alicandro, had just officially launched his candidacy on Monday."
I'm still hoping for Preet Bharara.
This is an important position as any crimes Trump committed in New York he cannot pardon himself from, nor could Pence pardon him. So having an attorney general of New York State willing to stay the course is really important.
While it looks bad for Schneiderman I can't help remembering what happened to Al Franken.

Fox News and the White House created a gigantic toxic bubble — but it’s about to pop
ReplyDeleteThink of two bubbles. One is the alternative universe presented by Fox News in which darkness reigns and every single word or action taken against the right wing and its president is perceived as an attack or smear that’s inherently part of a titanic conspiracy aimed at wrecking your life.I have visited that weird Fox bubble on occasion, walked the halls of what feels more like an Orwellian Ministry of Truth than a newsroom. Reality is cast to the side.
The other bubble is the White House itself, these days a fortress of ignorance and babble against the forces of reason, compassion and grace. I have visited there, too, and in a past administration did a little writing in its rooms and halls. Even in the best of times, there is a feeing of isolation, a preternatural silence that sets the building apart, creating an impression that decisions are made in a rarefied atmosphere that can, from time to time, distort reality.
Don't let Silicon Valley control what you see. Get more stories like this in your inbox, every day.

Now these two bubbles are as one. Fox and 1600 Pennsylvania have merged, now virtually indistinguishable from each other, and inside that newly created, gigantic toxic bubble sits a manchild oozing irrational exuberance as sycophants tell him he’s the greatest thing since Genghis Khan strode the Earth.
The president gets his information from Fox, makes his decisions and tweets accordingly, repeating network talking points minutes after he has heard them, no matter how goofy. In turn, the personalities of Fox have become presidential advisers; former judge and Fox host Jeanine Pirro and attorney, conspiracy theorist and Fox regular Joe diGenova, who was on Trump’s legal team for about a week before conflicts of interest forced him out, remain on the president’s speed dial.
What’s more, Trump “cherishes” Lou Dobbs over at Fox Business, according to The Daily Beast, places him on speakerphone for meetings in the Oval Office and makes sure “he is involved in some of the administration’s more sensitive discussions.” And an insider tells The Washington Post that Fox superstar Sean Hannity is so omnipresent at the White House, “he basically has a desk in the place.”
Conversely, the president and his minions repeatedly go on Fox programs to bluster and dissemble. In the last week and a half, Trump himself has phoned into his favorite show “Fox and Friends” for a thirty-minute, Grandpa Simpsons-style rant – and threatens to do it again soon. And former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani, the latest addition to Trump’s squad of nerve-wracked legal eagles, has appeared on Fox almost as much as those commercials for catheters.
Ostensibly, Giuliani’s mission has been to defend his boss against the Stormy Daniels and Russia scandals, and whatever else may soon rear its head when it comes to Michael Cohen, money laundering and other alleged high crimes and misdemeanors. Yet his comments don’t seem to be helping the president’s cause; quite the contrary. This headline from The Onion says it all, “Mueller Poses As Fox News Host To Coax Rudy Giuliani Into Giving Him Testimony On Trump.”
It seems whenever Rudy opens his mouth, his own foot flies into it and not just on Fox but wherever he appears, presenting rumors as facts, facts as rumors, contradicting obvious truths and when cornered, falling back on ignorance as his defense.
...The problem is that the symbiotic relationship between Fox and the White House creates a feedback loop that doubles over onto itself again and again: you say it to me and I say it back to you and you repeat it to me and suddenly it’s true. But it’s not.

They have finally chosen a platform for Melania to back. Bullying if you want to believe it.
ReplyDeleteHopefully she marches into Trump's toilets and confiscates his phone first thing. Then we will be on board with you Melania. Till then hold your' foreign tongue.
It is a joke. She did that for her boyfriend Putin and his kid barron. be best? lol. She should just pack up the circus and give up on this scam. The real Donald trump has his rump in a mess. And it is not going away.
DeleteBudget - 05-07-2018
ReplyDeleteTrump is getting ready to send a spending bill to Congress that will CUT $15 BILLION from the budget, targeting CHIP and Hurricane Sandy relief for starters. And yes, the ACA will be in there somewhere.
It will be followed by a second bill with even more cuts outlined.
The first is projected to pass the House because, you know, RYAN. The Senate not so much. Surprisingly Bitch McConnell is against the cuts as they would go back on the agreement with the Dems when they passed the budget. Nice to know that Bitch is a rat, after all.
For those not recognizing the joke I’ll modify it.
“What’s the difference between a rat and a politician?”
“There are some things rats won’t do.”
Budget - 05-08-2018

"The White House is preparing to send Congress a roughly $15 billion package of spending cuts Tuesday using an obscure budgetary process to rescind so-called unobligated funds while also preparing another package that would take money from the recently passed government funding bill.
A senior administration official told reporters on a conference call Monday that this would be the first of two packages ― with the White House expecting lawmakers to approve these recommended cuts before tackling another bundle of reductions directed at the omnibus spending bill passed in March. However, while the House looks apt to approve the package ― which would cut roughly $7 billion from the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), $4.3 billion from a government vehicle loan program and more than $100 million in unspent funds to address Hurricane Sandy damage ― the White House said it looked forward to having a “conversation” with the Senate.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) has indicated he would oppose cuts that go back on the March agreement, but he may be open to a package like this one that targets money that simply hasn’t been spent. Among those “unobligated” funds, the White House wants to rescind $800 million from an Affordable Care Act study of innovative health care payment programs, $252 million in funds never spent on addressing the Ebola outbreak, $123 million in leftover money from a railroad workers’ benefit program and $148 million from an animal inspection account."
"While conservatives welcome a plan that reduces the $1.3 trillion in spending in the March omnibus bill, Democrats see any attempt to take money away from that agreement as a clear breach of a hard-fought deal. With the threat of a second package on the way, Democrats may resist going along with the appropriations process for this year, which could again derail the spending process and force Republicans and Democrats to govern by approving another series of stopgap spending bills until a government funding bill is pushed to the brink. "
Which circles us back to Trump's threat to shut down the government in September if he doesn't get all the money for his wall.
Melania Trump - 05-08-2018
ReplyDeleteOh. My. DOG!
https://www.yahoo.com/news/white-house-denies-melania-doesnt-live-anymore-202615659.html
"During Monday’s briefing, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders was asked about a Washington Post story that described a chilly relationship between President Trump and first lady Melania Trump in the wake of allegations of the president’s past relationships with adult film actress Stormy Daniels and former Playboy model Karen McDougal. Specifically, a reporter asked Sanders to respond to reports that Melania Trump lives in the Washington suburbs with her son and parents, rather than in the East Wing of the White House. The Post reported it as an unverified rumor, and its own reporting indicated that Trump does live in the White House, although she and the president sleep in separate bedrooms.
“Just when you think the Washington Post can’t get things any more wrong, they do,” Sanders replied. “That is an outrageous and ridiculous claim. The first lady lives here in the White House, we see her regularly, and I think that’s something that belongs in tabloid gossip, not on the front pages of the Washington Post, and I hope that they’ll do better next time.”"
Scarah Hucksterbee Slanders just said Melania lives in the White House. Given her track record this is confirmation that she DOESN'T.
Although don't quote me. Instead look for more from the Washington Post and other trusted news sources willing to follow this story and get the proof to back up their claims.
I will say I'll believe the Washington Post over Hucksterbee any day.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/inside-melania-trumps-complicated-white-house-life-separate-schedules-different-priorities/2018/05/06/60f6f07e-4703-11e8-9072-f6d4bc32f223_story.html?noredirect=on&utm_term=.927cc9b4a4da
"The first lady wakes in her own bedroom a bit later, according to two close friends of the Trumps. She then readies their 12-year-old son for school, including checking to make sure his homework is in his backpack."
"“They spend very little to no time together,” said one longtime friend of the president."
"According to several White House staff members, Melania has erected a de facto wall between the East Wing, where she is renovating her office and enjoying growing popularity, and the West Wing, where her husband and Ivanka Trump, her eldest stepdaughter, have offices.
While she goes to the West Wing for official duties, she does not walk down the hall, pop her head in and see how the president’s day is going.
“She seldom sets foot in the West Wing,” said one person with firsthand knowledge.
Yet, many political analysts believe that Trump will need Melania at his side if he wants to win again in 2020."
And that is what is known as leverage. He needs her more than she needs him. She can call the shots.
"As first ladies often are, Melania is more popular than her husband. But two friends of the couple say the president, who pays close attention to his poll numbers, also fixates on hers. Her approval rating was 47 percent to his 40 percent in a January CNN poll."
Oooo. I'll bet that hurts.
"Trump insisted on a prenuptial agreement when he married Melania 13 years ago, just as he had with his two previous wives. The terms have never been made public. A person close to Melania noted that the prenuptial was signed before his political career, which forced her to take on a whole new role and one, as a friend said, that is “unpaid.”"
Interesting choice of words.
But the American Princess Diana? Bullshit.

"Oops, she did it again.
Supporting materials presented Monday in conjunction with Melania Trump’s “Be Best” youth initiative turn out to have been lifted from a 2014 Federal Trade Commission pamphlet.
Titled “Talking with Kids About Being Online,” Trump’s document, which was distributed as part of the “Be Best” rollout, relies on the same graphic design and wording as the FTC’s “Net Cetera: Chatting with Kids About Being Online.” Trump’s pamphlet also contains an introductory letter by the first lady, advising parents to “communicate your values clearly so your kids can make thoughtful decisions when they face tricky situations.”
The similarities are far from cursory. "
"Of course, this is not the first time that Melania Trump has been accused of repurposing Obama-era lines. An analysis of her speech at the 2016 Republican National Convention revealed that she closely hewed to Michelle Obama’s 2008 speech before the Democratic National Convention."
Does she really think she is going to make the hashtag #bebest go viral?
Melania's plagiarism - 05-08-2018
DeleteAnd now she claims she didn't.
https://www.yahoo.com/news/melania-trump-denies-plagiarizing-obama-document-explosive-statement-165716457.html
I'm not sure any of these idiots even know what plagiarism is. Like Trump has no clue what a lie is. He lies constantly but doesn't even realize he's doing it. Melania is plagiarizing and doesn't even realize that is what she is doing.
Only explanation I can come up with.
Clueless, the both of them. Not functioning in reality.
So all in one day we get trump taking money from low income kids and his escort of "be best" promoting cyberbullying from her master. And then the new republicans got their widdle feelings hurt from Senator McCain stating he does not want trump nor palin anywhere around him. Yes indeed McCain wants a real President to speak of him, yep President Obama. What a bunch of lousy disgusting liars the current republican stain is today. Cant wait till their all gone.
ReplyDeleteCan someone describe what a republican is and believes? And what a democrat is and what they believe? Are there any issues that both agree today? Is anything unacceptable?
ReplyDeleteAnd the GoddamnDaughterFucking Moron did it.

"President Donald Trump withdrew the U.S. from the landmark nuclear accord with Iran Tuesday, declaring he was making the world safer in restoring harsh sanctions. But he also dealt a profound blow to allies, deepened his isolation on the world stage and revived doubts about American credibility in the most consequential foreign policy action of his presidency.
The leaders of Germany, France and Britain, co-signers of the agreement, expressed regret and said they would try to salvage the accord with Iran. Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said he was sending his foreign minister to work with those remaining countries but warned there was only a short time to negotiate with them and his country could soon "start enriching uranium more than before.""
I'm tired of waiting for his coronary. Can't one of his crazy-ass Deplorables just assassinate him already? Yeah, I know we'll get Pence. But Pence isn't AN IDIOT.

"British Prime Minister Theresa May, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macron released a joint statement that expressed disappointment in Trump’s decision to withdraw from the agreement known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, or JCPOA.
“Together, we emphasise our continuing commitment to the JCPoA. This agreement remains important for our shared security,” the statement read. "
"Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on Tuesday vowed to stay in the Iran nuclear deal shortly after President Donald Trump announced that the U.S. will withdraw from the multinational pact, a decision that ignited outcry and concern from fellow world leaders.
Rouhani, in a blistering televised address, criticized the U.S. as a country that “never adheres to its commitments” and accused its people of having “always adopted a hostile approach.”
“By exiting the deal, America has officially undermined its commitment to an international treaty,” he said."
(Thanks, Trump. The U.S. now has no credibility AT ALL.)
"Turkish Economy Minister Nihat Zeybekci said his country will continue its trade with Iran and not answer to anyone else on the matter. "
"Iranian state television also called Trump’s decision to withdraw “illegal, illegitimate and undermines international agreements,” Reuters reported."
Who will enter into any treaty with a country whose promised and negotiations are worthless?
