Iran is just tickled pink with the work that we have done in Iraq. Was this the plan? Did I miss a memo or something?

The editorial of Iran’s leading hard-line daily hailed the outcome of Iraq’s parliamentary elections as “the creation of the first Islamist state in the Arab world”, and warned against “American plots” to prevent the formation of the new Iraqi government by Iranian-backed Shiite groups.

“Of the 275 seats in Iraq’s new parliament, 140 will belong to pious Islamists, 60 will be occupied by Kurds with excellent ties with Iran, and 40 will belong to Sunni Arabs, most of whom want a sovereign, Islamist state”, the daily Kayhan’s Saturday editorial noted. “The new government – including the President, the Prime Minister, the cabinet, the armed forces and the judiciary – will emerge from this new assembly”.

Well thank god our soldiers did not die in vain. Their sacrifice will help to ensure that there is another powerful Anti-American Islamic nation in the middle east that will continue to reject our satanic western influences for decades to come. I wonder if they will make a national holiday to honor the dead American soldiers who helped them to achieve their goals.

If you set out to write a movie about an incompetent president waging an ill conceived war with disasterous consequences, how could you improve on the reality of this boondoggle? Some days I cannot decide if I should laugh or cry.
