Nancy Pelosi endorses Murtha to replace her as the House Majority leader.

House Speaker-to-be Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) endorsed Rep. John P. Murtha (D-Pa.) yesterday as the next House majority leader, thereby stepping into a contentious intraparty fight between Murtha and her current deputy, Maryland's Steny H. Hoyer.

Murtha deserves to be rewarded for speaking out against the war well before it was the popular thing to do. John Murtha's courage in the face of the Republican smear machine makes him the right choice to lead the Democrats as they take on the tough issues.

  2. Uh oh! Lynne brings up some good points about Murtha's potential baggage and the appearance that he may not be working above board. Thanks Lynne I will have to examine the issue a little more before giving anybody an endorsement.

I still have a lot of respect for Murtha and his anti-war stance. But any evidence of impropriety would make Murtha unfit for such an important job.
