Carter backs off harsh Bush critique.

Former President Jimmy Carter on Monday said his comments over the weekend about the Bush administration were “careless.”

Interviewed on the TODAY Show about the comments, Carter said, "They were maybe careless or misinterpreted." He said he “certainly was not talking personally about any president.”

When pressed by NBC’s Meredith Vieira as to whether he was saying his remarks were careless or reckless, the former president said, “I think they were, yes, because they were interpreted as comparing this whole administration to all other administrations."

You know this is why Democrats get labeled as "weak" or "impotent", we make tough comments and then whither under the counter attack that comes after.

Republicans will say the most mean spirited, false, character assassinating comments we have ever heard! And rather then be ashamed, will crow about them to anybody who will listen.

Carter is right! He is not saying something false or even something that every intelligent person does not already know! And he needs to stand against the tide and stand up for his statements.

Yes, compared to EVERY other President in history, George W. Bush is the very WORST one!

There should be no debate on that fact! None!

It should be said with the same conviction that intelligent people use when referring to what is happening in Iraq as a civil war, those are the facts, not the spin or the wording that the Bush administration feeds to news outlets. We must not allow them to define our situation using their preferred sound bites. They lost the election we don't have to listen to their lies anymore!

It is time to start telling the truth in this country. And it needs to start with the Democrats. And it needs to start now!
