Here is Sunday's understatement of the day. "Wide skepticism awaits the Petraeus Iraq report".

Most Americans think this week's report from Army Gen. David H. Petraeus will exaggerate progress in Iraq, and few expect it to result in a major shift in President Bush's policy.

Overall, two-thirds of Americans said they believe Bush will hold to his current course no matter what. In a July Post-ABC News poll, nearly eight in 10 Americans, including a majority of Republicans, said the president was too intransigent on the war.

We are done. Done believing that anything this administration says is credible. Done hiding under our beds whenever they ring their Pavlovian bell of terror. Done being willing to wait for the mercurial improvements in Iraq that are constantly just out of reach somewhere in the future. Done relying on our elected officials to stop the greatest criminal enterprise that has ever been launched against this great country. We are done.
