Thousands of U.S. soldiers in Iraq — as many as 10 a day — are being discharged by the military for mental health reasons. But the Pentagon isn't blaming the war. It says the soldiers had "pre-existing" conditions that disqualify them for treatment by the government.
Many soldiers and Marines being discharged on this basis actually suffer from combat-related problems, experts say. But by classifying them as having a condition unrelated to the war, the Defense Department is able to quickly get rid of troops having trouble doing their work while also saving the expense of caring for them.
Republicans only support the military when they are hiding behind them or if is it politically advantageous. They don't give two shits about anybody but their financial backers.
I am constantly sickened by the level of hypocrisy which is on constant display in the political arena.
The hypocrisy on both sides. Webb was voted in to stop the war and he votes to continue it. While watching the new Ken Burns series The War, I see Senator Inouye of Hawaii describing his service. Yet he votes to continue this invasion's funding.
ReplyDeleteI don't get it.
Good point there is definitely much to be disappointed in when it comes to the Democrats as well. I guess I pick on the Republicans more on this issue because they use the military as cover and also are constantly using them to force the Democrats to not cut off funds for the war.
