Some readers think my continuing attempt to expose all the lies and flim-flam and bizarre behavior of Sarah Palin is now moot. She's history - they argue. Move on. I think she probably is history. Even Bill Kristol and his minions in the McCain-Palin campaign may not be able to resuscitate her political viability now. But even if she is history, she is history that matters.
Let's be real in a way the national media seems incapable of: this person should never have been placed on a national ticket in a mature democracy. She was incapable of running a town in Alaska competently. The impulsive, unvetted selection of a total unknown, with no knowledge of or interest in the wider world, as a replacement president remains one of the most disturbing events in modern American history. That the press felt required to maintain a facade of normalcy for two months - and not to declare the whole thing a farce from start to finish - is a sign of their total loss of nerve. That the Palin absurdity should follow the two-term presidency of another individual utterly out of his depth in national government is particularly troubling. 46 percent of Americans voted for the possibility of this blank slate as president because she somehow echoed their own sense of religious or cultural "identity". Until we figure out how this happened, we will not be able to prevent it from happening again. And we have to find a way to prevent this from recurring.
This deluded and delusional woman still doesn't understand what happened to her; still has no self-awareness; and has never been forced to accept her obvious limitations. She cannot keep even the most trivial story straight; she repeats untruths with a ferocity and calm that is reserved only to the clinically unhinged; she has the educational level of a high school drop-out; and regards ignorance as some kind of achievement. It is excruciating to watch her - but more excruciating to watch those who feel obliged to defend her.
Her candidacy, in short, was indefensible. It remains indefensible. Until the mainstream media, the GOP establishment, and the conservative intelligentsia acknowledge the depth of their error, this blog will keep demanding basic accountability.
I usually find very few issues that I can agree with Andrew Sullivan on, but lately there have been quite a number. We both understand that the Bush administration has been devastating for this country, we both supported Barack Obama, and we both think there are a lot of stories about Sarah Palin that we do not know the truth about.
And apparently we both are struggling with the idea of continuing to focus on Sarah Palin.
I also believe that it has moved from simple curiosity to a feeling of necessity. Simply put we MUST continue to shine a light on her so that the American people learn exactly who she is.
I watched her on MSNBC today speaking at the Republican Governor's Association meeting, and honestly I could feel my brain cells dying. She is so obviously an ignorant, unqualified person that it is hard for me to imagine that ANYBODY could still support her.
But as long as there is even one remaining Sarah Palin supporter out there I will continue to try and change their mind. Fortunately for me I have some very good help, Sarah Palin. Because every time that dimwit speaks it just makes my job that much easier.
Your continued efforts to shine a bright light on the truth about Sarah Palin are greatly appreciated.
ReplyDeleteMy eardrums could certainly use a rest from her continuous steam of incoherant speech this week. Hopefully the nonstop "exclusive" interviews stop soon.
As an early xmas gift to myself - I went to the offical barackobama.com site and got a 2008 victory tshirt by making a contribution. It's a great tshirt you might like it too.
I would like to make suggestion to anyone reading this blog and Alaskans in particular. An ADN reporter did a story earlier this week on Palin and Palin offered up her medical records to put the "who is Trigs mom story" to rest. The reporter did not make an actual request for the actual medical records. I suggest people write to the reporter and ask that the paper formally put a request in for the actual medical record. His email is:

AMEN, ANDREW SULLIVAN. He is the only one who is not afraid to speak his mind...along with Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow. You just know Wolf Bitzer's head was spinning after that interview with all her jibberish, double talk, and there's, too's and also's. Sarah, didn't your English teachers ever to you not to begin a sentence with a preposition?Thank you Gryphen...you need to stay on top of this like white on rice. I see her demise coming.
ReplyDeleteI watch Sarah's interviews purely for the entertainment value...she is a trainwreck I can't look away from. Sure she's as annoying as fuck, but I am astounded by her lack of self awareness...I wonder if she's actually ever watched her own interviews? I wonder why no reporter ever asks her the real stuff people actually want to know...
Sullivan's right, she is unhinged. That woman is a perfect - and I mean PERFECT - example of rampant Narcissistic PErsonality DIsorder. And she could have a few others as well. Look it up, it fits her to a "T". I in no way mean to criticize anyone with that disorder; but someone this mentally unstable should not be running for office OR governing a state.
ReplyDeleteI agree: Keep the spotlight on her until it's so patently obvious to even the biggest moron in the country she is NOT FIT TO LEAD.
Eventually there has to be a tipping point. Then, it will be all downhill from there.
She should be history but she is not! She is interviewed all the time. The ditz and her followers think she is the future of their party. That is down right sick.
ReplyDeleteWanting Eva Braun Palin the Neanderthal should tell you what their goal is and it is not our America.
There are those that want her to be the leader of their party and the new face of it and to run in 2012. Downright friggen sick!
