Sarah Palin's new pick for Attorney General shows that she is beefing up her conservative credentials.

Governor Sarah Palin today announced the appointment of Wayne Anthony Ross as Attorney General.

“Wayne Anthony Ross will be a great defender of Alaska and the people he serves (Does this mean he is not intending to serve ALL of the people? What an odd statement to make.)," Governor Palin said. "With his vast legal knowledge, experience and integrity, he will make an exceptional Attorney General. I recognize the sacrifices our public servants make for Alaska and her people, and I am honored that Wayne is willing to make those sacrifices for the greater good.” (Which beggars the question, Whose "greater good"?)

“Theodore Roosevelt once said ‘Aggressive fighting for the right is the noblest sport the world affords’ – I subscribe to that philosophy,” Ross said. (Fighting for "the right"? Not "our rights"? I am not sure what that means unless it is code for fighting for the "right wing" agenda which is odd since the only other place Google could find that the quote was used was this Iranian site.)“I sincerely appreciate the confidence placed in me by Governor Sarah Palin in choosing me to be our new Attorney General. I welcome the chance to now represent the best interests of our beloved state and its citizens. I look forward to working with Governor Palin and the Legislature in the good fight to help our state achieve its full potential.” (Well it certainly looks like AG Ross is hankering for a battle with the Legislature. Which I guess means Governor Sarah is tired of playing defense. Well this should be entertaining.)

He is a former vice president of the National Rifle Association and currently is a Director of the NRA. He has also volunteered his time on behalf of numerous organizations, including the Alaska Land Use Council Advisors’ Committee, Armed Services YMCA of Alaska, and the Military Vehicle Preservation Association. Ross is also a member of the Alaska Peace Officers Association and an active member of the Alaska Bar Association. Ross has been knighted by Poland and the Vatican. (Let's see. Uber religious? Check. Gun Nut? Check. Pimp for the oil companies? Check. Let the games begin!)

By the way this is a picture of Wayne Anthony Ross's big red penis.

Big red hummer?

A houseful of guns?

Compensating much?

Sounds like she is getting ready to defend herself against us, the pj-clad bloggers in general, and Cetic Diva in particular...

  4. Honestly, this is getting scarier by the minute. Your gov has gone off the deep end.

  5. He still has to be confirmed/approved by the legislature, right?

  6. And Gryphen, are you serious...is that really WAR's vehicle (with all the crap on it)? I thought you might just be messing around with us??

  7. Fight, Fight, Fight!! Fight for the right. Fight the good fight.

That is wacko language for an Attorney General. Must be the male attorney version of SP.

Putting that quote from TR in the press release is very strange. Texas' AG is so much more dignified than this geezer.

  8. Conflict of interest, plain and simple. WAR represented GINO in a legal matter a few years earlier.

  9. about the hummer -if you're gonna put hunting camo on it, why buy a red one?

my neighbor is a retired republican lawyer, with a giant shiny white pick-up. the truck has the camo painted right on the lower parts of it (professionally, naturally) so when he throws that stuff on top as seen in the pic it's fully decorated (i mean concealed).

why do hunters need to camo the truck/car anyway? are they shooting out the windows? animals can here the truck and see the movement anyway....

  10. luna, Rodents with guns all see the ultraviolet spectrum and a hunter is never safe if he doesn't paint his truck in camo below the top of the wheels. Above the top of the wheels in o.k. to be in red because rodents with guns don't shoot at anything higher than 2 feet above the ground. This also explains why hunters wear rodent proof combat boots when they go out a-hunting. Little bunnies are much more dangerous with those big front teeth than they look!

Just another chickenhawk like Dick Cheny.

Why didn't WAR serve in Vietnam?

Too busy? That's why he's into hummers and guns- to cover up his shameful evasion of military service.

Ha, ha, the timing is pretty funny!

GINO lies about the legislators and insults them, then absconds from Juneau to Anchorage so she can name her new AG-pitbull so she can point him in Linda K-B's direction ASAP...

...And then she expects the legislators to just roll over and approve W.A.R. so the guy can get to work.

I'll bet they approve him 1) not at all, or 2) about July, in their 3rd or 4th special session. After they deal with all those bills GINO delivered to them halfway through the session.

Meanwhile, the ASSISTANT/INTERIM AG Susan McLean will shuffle Linda K-B's ethics complaint out of her office while GINO is still fussing and fuming.

Ross: As governor, I intend to challenge provisions of ANILCA that mandate federal management of our resources, through pressure on our congressional delegation and through court action as well.
    .snip.
Also, unfortunately, our resources are too often managed based upon what is politically advantageous to the decision-maker and not upon sound biological principles. That, too, will change when I am governor.

I was gonna disagree with your premise of beefing up her Conservative cred by picking Ross.

But then I thought about it and you're right.

I was gonna say that Wayne was the attorney for Jeff Webster. He's the guy who assaulted the anti-war protesters in Soldotna. He argued against the 1st Amendment to try to make his case.

    http://www.peninsulaclarion.com/stories/071003/new_071003new001001.shtml

"The question is whether these people were justified in protesting," Ross said. "The jury is to determine whether it was unreasonable to protest at this time and place."

Wayne argues that protesting 3/4 of a mile from his client's house is begging him to come attack them. Evidently, he felt it was OK for his client to use violence and intimidation to shut the protesters up.

    Here's a weird quote..

After Dailey told Ross that one of her placards depicted an Iraqi child holding a lamb, Ross asked why and she said it was to show people that "Iraqi children were human beings."

"Do you recall Iraqi children welcoming our troops?" Ross asked, but the question went unanswered as Stein objected.

Does Wayne think that Iraqi children aren't humans? And what difference does it make if they welcomed our troops or not?

At first I thought, Wayne can't be conservative if he doesn't support the whole Constitution. But then I realized, freedom of speech is what the Conservatives fear most. The Bush administration worked hard to deny free speech. They also suspended Constitutional rights. I guess Wayne Anthony Ross would make them proud. He's a stickler when it comes to the 2nd Amendment, but thinks the 1st is expendable.

He should know that all parts of the Constitution support the rest of it. Weaken or destroy one part and eventually the whole thing is weakened or destroyed. That is the scary part was of those who thought it was no big deal for the Bush administration to suspend rights in the name of a war on terrorism. They were willing to destroy our whole country. No terrorists could accomplish that. But our leaders tried.

If Ross is approved, it might be interesting. The lady who throws people under the bus has met her bus driver. It looks like he doesn't need her, but she needs him. Unless her ego submits to his, he might use the AG's office to do what she once did -- point out all the corruption and take her place. I know nothing, but I wonder if even Alaska is big enough for both of them.

Ross is a buffoon. To say this is a great legal mind is laughable. I observed him in a panel discussion about domestic violence. He basically said most women were liars. In my opinion, this guy is an archaic, sexist idiot. Perfect guy for Palin's team, but a travesty for the state

  18. "He should know that all parts of the Constitution support the rest of it. Weaken or destroy one part and eventually the whole thing is weakened or destroyed."

That's an interesting point. I think it could be validly made about the Constitution as it was first written. But once you start tacking on amendments written by different groups of people at different times in history? I'm not so sure. I mean, did the Constitution suffer irreparable damage to its integrity with the repeal of the 18th amendment?

To keep this comment on topic, I will add that Ross seems like a very scary person to have as an AG. Can the Legislature require he attend an open hearing? It sounds like he could be goaded into saying some very, very stupid and revealing things.

I haven't seen this information posted anywhere yet about WAR:

The relationship(s) and similarities to Sarah Palin are disturbing.
