There is a really good article about the outing of Mudflats on the Huffington Post. It is a must read!

The poster is a woman named Dawn Teo, a writer of Arizona who doe an excellent job of explaining why waht Mike Doogan did was a horrible thing indeed.

As AKM pointed out, no one knows her personal situation or the reasons that she wished to remain anonymous. Some have speculated that her anonymity protected the financial well-being of her family. Whatever the reason, it is evident that this is a serious matter for AKM who now says that will take some time away from Mudflats while she reassesses how her life will change.

Doogan would do well to remember that, although he is a mystery novel writer, he is not a detective in real life, and this was one mystery that should have gone unsolved. New media is replacing traditional media regardless of whether Mudflats continues to exist or not. Taking down one blogger -- or even thousands of bloggers -- will not bring back your dying newspaper industry.

P.S. By the way for all of you out there who are worried about AKM let me assure you that she is doing fine. I saw her yesterday and spoke to her again this morning and she is still processing the impact that this situation may have, and deciding how to move forward. But trust me, she WILL move forward.

Keeping sending your support to her via Mudflats, or through e-mail, or even on Facebook, because I know that she really appreciates it.

  1. Ya know, I think we are barking up the wrong tree here. Doogan is one of Palin's sheeple. She is behind all this and said as much during the Lincoln dinner speech “…SOON IT WILL BE REVEALED WHO IS BEHIND ALL OF THESE ATTACKS…”

Yes, Doogan needs to be held accountable for the deed, but we cannot be sidetracked...Palin is behind all of this.

  2. gryphen,

since AKM has now pulled her real name from her site, and doogan got it wrong in his initial email, maybe you should pull it from your article below, too.

heck this is the internet, and google cache exists, but she might not want her name declared over here (of course you can ask her about that). just a thought.

  3. Yeah luna I DID ask her about that this morning after somebody else suggested I delete her name.

She told me to keep it on. And please know that even before I posted it I had asked for her input on that subject.

I Believe also that she is behind this. Why??? Because of Phils article on his blog. It has to do with trooper gate and his responses in those emails. Also, C4P has been very quiet on this, they are not slamming their usual spew or being very loud about, makes me sense guilt. We need to keep an eye on her as the attention is taken away from her during this time. I don't trust her one bit and we can't take our back off of her at all.

  5. Gryphen I am worried. I just read a post at Mudflats that says they went to a website that is listing all kinds of personal information about AKM. Employer etc.. They did not provide links. This is getting scary!

FYI - Even though you asked AKM, Gryphen, here's is what is currently posted on Mudflats by Snoskred:
"2. Please do not use AKMuckraker’s real name in the comments area.
We do not ask this because we think the cat can get back in the bag. We ask this because AKMuckraker did not willingly choose to share her real name with us. Rep Mike Doogan decided to force it upon us. It is the principle of the thing, yano?"
(I'm the poster who suggested it earlier--just trying to be helpful...) You don't have to publish this in the comments area--feel free to delete it...

Gryphen, thanks for the info on AKM. Lynn I am the one that posted about the horrible vile site and the forum has requested that it not be named so as not to give them traffic. It is beyond awful, they have AKM personal info there, a picture, everything.
I'm so depressed tonight...going to go offline for tonight.
    I'm glad AKM is ok.
If anyone has any dirt on doogan/GINO bring it on, they deserve a major dose of karma for what they have done.

We have to stay focused and not get distracted from the fact that Sarah Palin is a force behind the Doogan outing of AKM. The distraction keeps people and the bloggers from pursuing rallies, writings, etc of Sarah 's misdeeds. Her lack of interest in Alaska's well being, her choice for AG, her ethics wrong doings. Everyone has to organize and support AKM and Celtic Diva but also keep our attention to the larger picture of not letting Sarah or any politicians for that matter manipulate, mislead or intimidate constitutes, bloggers, neighbors, or the American people.
I have a feeling that what has happened to AKM (which we are aware of through blogs) is what has been happening a lot to private citizens while no one has been looking. People have been fearful to speak out. This is the reason why. What else has happened to some innocent person(s) that we do not know of.

Gryphen, there's another good piece at the Daily Kos:

Wes_ben: Interesting quote if taken in this context... I wonder if someone could figure out a way to prove it (Maybe it was not GINO herself, but the First Dud (sic), who has his own computer in her office...

Yes, people have been very afraid to speak up in re. to GINO (look at that email from that lady in Wasilla - I forgot her name right now, but she just got an award for it, I believe).
The more reason to double and tripple and exponentially up our efforts to stop this!

{{{AKM}}} Make sure you follow up with this issue, and do not let Doggone (sci) and GINO get away with this!

With Obama in office, we all have a very short memory about what life was like a few months ago during the Bush presidency. People showed up at a Republican rally and were forcibly ejected because there was a pro-environment sticker on their car in the parking lot. Wear the wrong T-shirt, with the wrong slogan on it could get a kid thrown out of school, or people roughly ejected from a political rally by the Secret Service. With that kind of heavy handed treatment regularly taking place when Bush was in charge, it is no wonder that anyone would want to protect their identity on a political bog.

And by the way, I can't find it now but, a post over at Daily Kos mentioned that even Mike Doogan ran a blog under another name. Pot calling the kettle black!

I can't seem to join over at Celtic Diva, she has some stuff to say about the AK Dispatch write-up on this. I'd have liked to put my 2 cents in... and they would be this: Tony & Amanada, your write-up really sucked, it appeared to be defending doogan, and you have lost all credibility w/me. My husband & I are moderates, hubby a registered Repub, but we understand the right vs. wrong thing, and this is a very clear cut foul. Epic fail on your part & doogan's.

Can I say all of that here in case someone is tempted to wander over to AK Dispatch and consider reading it?

Besos to Immoral Minority, Celtic Diva, and of course AKM for fighting the good fight.

By the way, if you're thinking of emailing doogan, first create a new email addy at yahoo or gmail or whatever, one that has his name in it, like doogansux or something like that.

Okay, I was joking about the last bit. But I can dream. Wouldn't it be great if he got a bunch of emails from people, and they all had addresses like 'dooganthewormspew@gmail.com'?

it might not be a bad idea to email doogan from a legitimate email that is simply not your primary one in case it ends up on some spam list, but it would be childish and unhelpful to have it be "doogansux@..."

know what i would do if i was him and i -or my staff- saw things in the inbox with addys like that? i'd delete them all without reading them, having assumed the writer was neither serious or mature.

we must respond to the issue with AKM and the threatening of diva, etc. with the dignity and smarts that show we rise above the level of these who would pull just childish and potentially dangerous crap.

doogan has no respect for bloggers, he hates them for "the death of the newspaper" -see progressive alaska's friday post for proof of that, so we must not give him any evidence that his hatred is justified.

SMR, it would be funny BUT it would only reinforce Doogan's point of view.
Folks, Mudflats is in maintenance mode - they are buying more bandwidth to handle the load of hits and emails - Snoksred is currently moderating the site - I personally call Snoksred the guardian at the pass - and is tracking the comments from orcs as they come in. Also, the Mudflats community is asking everyone to please refer to AKM as AKMuckraker in all comments to any blog or article. Since AKMucker did not personally choose to reveal his/her identity, and was "outed" by a vindictive angry man, we have chosen to NOT participate in that outing by simply referring to AKM as AKM. Thanks all! And to the Alaskan bloggers out there, thanks for lighting the signal fires across this country and world on behalf of freedom of speech and the right to privacy.

  15. Grypen thank you for letting us know that AKM is alright.

someone mentioned cp4 being quiet, I believe they are being quiet because one of the admin there did come over to the flats and remarked on this stunt by dingleberry. It was a very nice comment, even stated the difference in the two sites and not agreeing with AKM, but they said when it comes down to the bottom line, this is really about our rights. It is so true

I believe the Gov. is behind this too because what does dingleberry have to gain by this. I can't think of anything, unless something was promised to him. Personally if I was the Gov. I would be really mad at this idiot for trying to censure bloggers because it would make the Gov. look bad.

    Gryphen:
Thanks for keeping everyone in the loop. Looks like Mudflats is back up with new servers and AKM has a new personal post up as well with more coming.

cp4 (ViOmnia) mentioned on ShannyMoore last night that they were in attack mode. (shivering here)
