Is it possible we will finally see justice?

My fervent hope is that the people who gave these orders will be prosecuted and it will not just be the poor saps who followed those orders as in the case of Abu Ghraib.

I wonder what Dick Cheney looks like in a prison jumpsuit?

  1. Why should Abu Ghraib be any different from My Lai?

I heard Calley has apologized. He was the ONLY one prosecuted. Doesn't a Captain outrank a Lieutenant? Wasn't Calley a Lt?

  2. Calley's CO, Cpt. Medina, was exonerated. Nobody higher up even was looked at. Some field and general grade careers were ruined, though, if their names made print.

Anyone recall the old fashioned one piece long john sets with the BIG drop seat? We need to order those in some pretty pastel colors for Bush and Cheney to wear in prison as their uniforms.

That way they can be everyone's pretty bitches while they spend the rest of their life behind bars - bending over.

Isn't it nice to have something good to look forward to where Bush and Cheney are concerned. LOL

  4. All I know is we will not get our country back on track if we do not prosecute. They should go after all of them from the top down and determine what happened. Let the CIA whine about being outed. Who wants agents who torture people to keep working as CIA agents anyway. My fear is this is just a show to appease us.

I want a poster of Dick Cheney in pink handcuffs and pink jumpsuit, with his new 'mate.

It's NEVER going to happen, though a whabbit can dream.

  7. While I have the greatest respect for you Gryph, and the work you do, we part company on this one. Holder is an idiot. He's never served, and he's ready to plunk these terrorists right down in our backyards. I don't like nor trust this guy.

  8. Moms - I totally disagree. There are many many many people who were raised with the principle that you had to pay for your own mistakes. This includes torturing people, especially when we claim we are a country of laws.

I don't think Cheney or Bush will ever pay for those crimes they conceived - unless the World Court chooses to arrest them for Crimes against Humanity. In that case, I hope they hang the bastards after they are tried and found guilty.

The turrurrurrurrurruist B.S. doesn't work anymore. If you don't know why, I'd suggest you read the children's book "The Boy Who Cried Wolf". People cannot live in fear - it gets old and there have been way too many times it's being used SOLELY for political purposes.

Impeach and try Bybee, for heaven's sake get Yoo and Addington. There's enough filth in these jerks to keep the courts busy for a long time. But get the ones that turned our great country into a nation of illegal torture. I am ashamed for what our government has done.

So take your little "scared of terrorists" routine and go away ok? It does't work anymore.

  9. Unfortunately, I don't think prosecution will reach Bush/Cheney. Maybe Rumsfeld and Rice. It is great news to see that there is a special prosecutor.
You know it has to be so much worse that we have been allowed to know. Mock executions and power tools!?! And did you notice how many pages of the report were blackened out? This has got to be an even worse nightmare than we already know. I simply don't want to believe that even Bush/Cheney allowed these kinds of things to happen in our name. But it did. I'm with you though. I would love to see them carted off to the World Court at the Hague, exposed for all the world to see. I'd love to see them tried like the Nazi's in Nuremberg. If anything, they need the public humiliation. If they do nothing, who's to say this won't happen again?
    Never let people forget.

  10. Moms,

If these people were in our prisons, we would all be safe. Look at what we have now. Serial killers of the worst kind, Manson, child molesters and killers. We have to stick to our principles. No one has ever escaped from a super-max. And that's where they would be. Have some faith in our system. (I know it's hard after the last 8 years, but some things still do work)

  11. mary b: totally agree. Our super-max prisons can hold terrorists. We already have the blind sheik and others. For heaven's sake....the Repukes are so stuck on this terrorist B.S. they've pushed since 2001. OF COURSE there are people that hate us and want to kill us. But that doesn't mean we have to act like animals - it's not who or what we are!
We will have terrorist attacks. It's going to happen - our country is too large and it's too easy to get around - and for 8 years we had the Keystone Cops. Unfortunately the Keystone Cops took action against US citizens instead of doing what they were supposed to do.
All these guys - the Bybee, Yoo, Addington, Rumsfeld (etc etc etc) need to be tied up in court for years - then in jail with the terrorists.
Cheney and Bush will walk free - unless another country brings charges and then neither of them will be able to leave the U.S.
It is a shame that we have to let the World Court clean up OUR mess.

This is a government of laws, and not of men. Why should anyone be above the law?

This nation has an obligation under the Geneva Conventions to hold our leaders accountable for war crimes.

I read somewhere that Bush bought 100,000 acres in South America. Next to a military base and Rev. Moon's million-acre ranch in Paraguay or Uruguay. Hearsay of course, but that's what I read.

    ReplyDelete
  13. snon@10:11 - oh that's got a simple answer. Why should anyone be above the law?

Because Big Dick said so. And the MEDIA let it happen and promoted it, instead of reporting the news, they became the news.

Because FAUX news is not a new network, it is a propaganda machine.

Because most people in this country are NOT terrorists and have a very difficult time understanding that the previous President and Veep are your basic war criminals.

The U.S. likes to play nice. Everyone wants to be happy and left alone. We are very young historically and we like to enjoy the freedoms and the "fruits of our labor".

We aren't used to having brazen criminal behavior in OUR White House, promoted by the President (Dick Cheney) and engaged in by the Vice President (that would be David Addington). Bush was never the President. He was an ex drunk pawn for Big Dick and Dangerous David. They wanted to play war with live people and Congress obliged.

Ladies and gentlemen, it is time to CLEAN HOUSE - all of it. If you want or expect your government to be decent and serve it's citizens, we need to get rid of ALL of these people. We need to reclaim Congress.

The lobbies need to go - NOW. AARP needs to speak to its membership about Medicare and Health Care Reform and stop PANDERING to UNITED HEALTH CARE (THEIR insurer for Medicare).

We are rapidly becoming a nation of two classes - rich and poor, and no one will change places. The poor will never catch up at this rate. The middle class is effectively GONE.

Hang on guys, this is not going to be a pretty ride.

I would love to see Bush and Cheney before the Hague, or any court, for that matter and have to answer for their crimes and see that smirk wiped off Bush's face for good. To say that they are a disgrace is such a vast understatement. This nation absolutely has an obligation to honor the Geneva Convention. The sooner we can restore our honor on a national stage the better off we will be. Nice thought, but I am sure South America doesn't want Bushy either. Of course, if there is money involved, they will look the other way. Unfortunately, money can still buy you most anything.

Gryphen, I hope you put up McCain's town hall meeting aired today on MSNBC. I heard one woman use the word "nuke." That will be repeated on air. Yep. Such demands and some valid points, I didn't agree with some of the twists or McCain's responses.

McCain picked one lady and then interrupted her then smacked her down for trying to talk. Then, she continued and then went on to ask what was so wrong about a government run health care. Great job, lady!! He started with those talking points. I got sidetracked. What did he mean when he called on the woman in the back saying "I'll come back to you?" Did I hear that? Was the next person a plant, why did he do that? Then McCain answered her with a little speech forgetting what her question was. Stumbling and then taken off the air...wow.

So much was covered, and misleading. A couple of women kept repeating...uh.uh., I don't remember; definitely sound bytes. Tell me if I'm wrong, the Social Security and Medicare programs were brought to the American people by democrats. A point was made that no one wanted to give up those programs.

One lady brought up no government health care coverage to immigrants. McCain brought up border patrol. One brought up losing freedom. McCain covered that.

Another lady said that the American Native Indians were being denied medical services, "don't get sick after June." McCain said that the treaties with the American Native Indians have been broken. Shameful.

Thanks, Gryphen. Oh, I forgot, I don't remember the question or statement, but one lady called McCain "Kennedy" but corrected herself after a pause. Painful, enough, sorry for rambling, painful.
