Chris Matthews has the guy who wrote the Vanity Fair piece about Palin, Michael Joseph Gross, on Hardball.

So Mr. Gross believes that the people of Wasilla will finally start to spill their guts if she actually runs for President huh?  That is interesting because I have heard similar murmurings.

I hope that turns out to be true.

But hey Wasilla, my e-mail is gryphen2009@yahoo.com just in case you don't want to wait that long.

Wow. Is Chris Mathews striving for renewed relevance, or what?!

I do hope that people in Wasilla do find their inner warrior and inner strength. I think they need to ask themselves: How much more power would she have if she were President, then Former President? They saw what the McCain Campaign came in and did. What do you think the Secret Service will do if she bids it?

Gryphen, why are you airing rumors you've heard (yet can't possibly prove) about fights between mother and daughter? Most teenagers engage in brutal verbal spats with their parents. Teens are at a crossroads and are coming into their own person. Given that Sarah and Bristol seem to be strongwilled and contain the same genetic makeup, OF COURSE they've had their differences. Why air it? It does no good for anyone and makes you look outlandish and ridiculous

Disgusting interview. They deal with Paylin like she's any hot new politician. Matthews NEVR brought up any of the substance of the article. The author says (and I paraphrase), "there's nothing too small for Sarah Palin to lie about", and nobody says anything!!! Matthews completely ignores the damaging information in the article, like it's not even there. There you have it, folks, this how the media has made Scarah a star. Pathetic.

    laprofesora,

I agree. The way Chris Matthews and Nora O'Donnell made Palin look like some kind of a major player in the next election was downright disgusting. He hardly gave the man from Vanity Fair any time to speak. Chris Matthews is weird when it comes to Palin, sometimes he pumps her up like the second coming, and sometimes he calls her an empty vessel.

Laprofessora, I totally agree. and CMatthews quikly said OK, let's see how your article runs. Is he so enamored that he would not dare have a negative thought of his own on Palin ? Cowardly waiting to see if this article gets traction ? Discusting

Chris Matthews loves to hear himself talk and will talk over guests just to make his own point and sometimes obscures key points because he is jabbering about his own perceptions.

Still, I think Gryphen's point is well taken: people need to face the fact that if they are scared of Sarah now, they'd better stop her before she gets real power.

Wow, I love the line "She has proven that there is no matter too small to lie about"

  8. This is precisely why the MSM is the enemy, and it is high time that we all realized this fact! The guy tried to tell the truth and those two despicable MSM varmints ignored whatever he said and made sure that the witch got her usual dose of sugar coating. As I have said on my blog repeatedly, I no longer watch or listen to any millionaire talking heads who refuse to discuss Babygate. I recommend that all intelligent Americans do the same.

Just the way she treats the little guy, that she is suppose to be like. She doesn't tip, she trys to get things for nothing. there has been story after story of this. She preteneded food at school functions were brought by her, she always got coffee but didn't have any money. that alone should show people what kind of person she is. Plus, she is a noted liar. Why do the people of Wasilla let her get away with this? I don't get it. She would only mooch off me once, then I would have nothing else to do with her. And I would protect other people from it as much as possible. What can she do to these people? She doesn't hold any office or have any power. What is wrong with people?

The happenings on twitter are hilarious. Palin called the article "Yellow Journalism." I laughed so hard when I saw that. And the bots are out in full force calling the story a lie. It is amazing that they still have not gotten the hint that is better for them to be silent. They respond to every slight! Typical Palin.....

PLEASE PLEASE Wasilla, what are you waiting for? I can understand the fear, but honestly with so much press, I don't think she has the power she once did....She has made far too many enemies everywhere...

I have started really disliking the Chris Matthews show...I don't know what it is, but he rubs me the wrong way. He gives Palin way too much power for one thing. Does he see the polls....?

PRIOR: Most teenagers engage in brutal verbal spats with their parents.

RESP: Many many teenagers have verbal spats with their parents. That along with sulking and challenging. I can't remember any brutal spats with any of my friends, or my kids and their friends. I think problems between parents and teenagers aren't much to write home about. I think brutal is troublesome.

BTW I always found it curious that Sarah's teenage children are so supportive of her. I was amazed at what Bristol/Willow said in Homer to the teacher. It's either a picture of a child being raised by June Cleaver, or a child that has STockholm syndrome - or probably something else, but that's the thought that crossed my mind.

She has single-handedly brought doubt to my religion for if there was really a God, why would he allow this evil to play to his right hand side?

What kind of evil would allow this?

I do not mind differences of opinion but the things that she has done to people are unforgiveable and long past politics.

I would spit on her but it would be a good waste of spit.

Its not just her, it is those that she attracts, and truly some of those are very innocent. I feel for those being used but there are those of her ilk that are promoting this hatred toward Obama, and its is only because, you guessed it folks, he is a Black man.

She encompasses more evil that that. There is something wrong with her. She holds her baby as a prop, without the protectiveness of a Mother. She uses her children as props for fertility.

If God allowed the Houlecast, we have no chance against Palin.

I wish these people would be brave enough and spill the beans now. Even if she doesn't run for President, she is still a dangerous person.

labprofessor you are completely right. I have known the Palin family for 35 years and there is nothing there to admire. There are good people within the family but I have to just shake my head. I have come to the conclusion that America is truly ignorant. Hey look at the state of Alaska voting in Joe Miller, do I need to say more? The closer the presidential election gets the more closed mouth the people of Wasilla will be. Unless you have lived in the valley you just don't know the mentality you are dealing with out here.

Would you write a post about the recent RAM interview on Tammy Bruce today?

  16. Sarah says she does not believe in coincidences. Sarah believes in prayer... Now what if there was a "fixer" among her prayer group/ring/cohorts. Someone who took Sarah's concerns to heart. Planes crash, fires burn, people are spied on....and people at C4P keep saying they have Sarah's back. Can you really blame the people of Wasilla.

I stopped watching Chris Matthews a long time ago because of the way he promoted Palin...without substance. I even sent him more than one note about the fact he should research more about our horrible Sister Sarah vs just passing on info.

I suspect his ratings were/are dropping and covering her keeps/kept in the company of the higher ratings of Maddow and Olberman. His show is not as good as theirs by any means.

A legitimate line of questioning for the author would have been about the resistance he encountered in Wasilla getting on the record comments about $P. That would been relevant, interesting, and would have added to the background of the story. But the media doesn't want insight, they need to promote Paylin so they can have a titillating story. Worse than pathetic.

Anon. at 5:44 who has known the Palin family for 35 years---

Please tell us about the mentality in the Valley that you mentioned. We want to know more so that we can understand how Sarah operates and thus be more effective in dealing with her and "her kind."

What are your impressions and your experiences?

Wow, how dumb is that Nora O'Donnell!?
She didn't care about all the horrible personal failings of Palin's mentioned in the article, but only marveled about the stupid North Star thing and then went on saying ALL Sarah needs is a bit more substance. Really?

CONFUSED, If no one in Wasilla will talk about palin now out of fear, they sure not going to say anything if she's running for president, they'd even be more afraid of her.

I don't need a PhD thesis to understand how Wasilla could be in the grip of Fear. It's all too easy to imagine if you put yourself in their shoes.

Remember Darlene Miller, the NICU nurse in Wasilla who died in that house fire? I'm sure Wasilla hasn't forgotten. Doesn't matter what the cause actually was -- only matters that people might think it was deliberate. I would.

These people are isolated. I'ts not like living in the Lower 48 where you can just drive away to another state and get a new job and start a new life. The call the Lower 48 "Outside." Hell, doesn't that say it all?

The Media is salivating at the prospect of a 2012 run. They are going to keep the CPR up on this baby all the way through then. Count on it. They will not allow a scandal to take a Palin run from them. They want their Palin. They want Palin to crash and burn on their timeline.

The Media is lame. On that, Palin and I agree. She taunts them with it not because they report unfavorably, but because she knows they are holding back.

The O'Donnell might not want to push that North Star stuff. A lot of that Information leads to some VERY shady money laundering crap that is not very well hidden. Setting up mysterious non-profits to raise cash for a speaker then disappearing them is VERY suspicious. If I were the IRS and FEC I would be taking a hard look at that stuff especially if she declares for the presidency.

The entire reason that media dwells on her personal problems is that SHE HAS NO SUBSTANCE TO REPORT.

This Hardball discussion, to me, represents everything that is wrong with "journalism" in this country and I can't express how disheartening it is to hear Chris Matthews and Nora O'Donnell's responses to Michael Joseph Gross's final statement: Gross calls them out on the media's role in giving Palin a free pass and Matthews abruptly dismisses him and O'Donnell essentially says that Palin's bad behavior is "fascinating" and that the very disturbing "North Star" imagery is a great story line and that Palin just needs to work on some substance. Think about that: O'Donnell is saying that it doesn't matter that Palin is a liar and an intellectual lightweight as long as she has a strong brand. She is saying that a woman that is clearly unfit for any office just needs to read up a little on the issues and she'll be ready to go. Shame on Matthews and O'Donnell. They are enabling people like Palin and continuing to erode any semblance of journalism and political discourse in this country.

  28. Gryphen,

There is a CNN interview with Michael Gross linked here - http://palinquestions.blogspot.com/2010/09/anonymous-sources.html - that does a much better job on probing his perspective that Palin's entire public facade is a lie.

  29. Mathews is a stressed-voice, fast-talking windbag. I wanted to hear what Gross had to say, but he's a writer, used to thinking about what he says before he says it. It reminded me of why I don't have a television.
