Morality is not determined by the church you attend nor the faith you embrace. It is determined by the quality of your character and the positive impact you have on those you meet along your journey

Newt Gingrich's reference to President Obama's "Kenyan anti-colonialism" is too much even for Joe Scarborough.
In my opinion this is as close to calling Barack Obama the "n-word" that Gingrich feels he can comfortably get, and it has the added benefit of tapping into all of that angry energy bubbling over in the "birther" subset of the Teabaggers movement.
You just watch, this "Kenyan Anti-colonialism" meme will be showing up on signs at rallies all over the country leading up to this November's election. The only question is what kind of an effect will it have on turn out?

Ok Gryphen, here's a task for you. Compare the ears of Sarah, Piper, Trig and Tripp and please tell me you see what I see - they are all basically the same
ReplyDeletebtw, Bristols isnt the same, neither is Willows, Tracks or Todds. however, Tripps did receive his hanging lobe from his mother
Everyone knows Newt is crazy. Joe's a good guy with excellent instincts. Mika's his perfect sidekick, Pat is good for laughs, Norah's just annoying
ReplyDeleteI like the show because it brings sanity to MSNBC
Since when--post-nineteenth-century--has being "anti-colonialism" been a bad thing?
ReplyDeleteUgh. Let's be real though, Newt was riffing off of an article written in Forbes by Dinesh D'Souza. I guess Newt thought he should continue along D'Souza's line. D'Souza is a source of conservative assholery: born in India, schooling in the USA, pissed off his college mates by outing gays that were in the closet and railing against affirmative action while attending Dartmouth. This guy is an insane piece of work. D'Souza also wrote a bunch of crap trying to blame liberals for 911!
ReplyDeleteSo frankly, even though Newt was the clown that got the media in a frenzy he was NOT the person that started this crap. So let's also slap D'Souza around for even positing this crap.
Both Newt and D'Souza are complete dirt bags...whether starting it or parroting it. It's all crap. WTF a Kenyan anti-colonial view. Geezez. Now all thoughts/deeds must come genetically from your father according to these 2 clowns! Just sounds like some perverse eugenics position. Pffft.
Sad thing is,Newt's audience doesn't know anything about colonialism, except by way of an old Tarzan movie. They'll see the word "Kenyan", and freak out.
ReplyDeleteNewt's effluvium keeps him in the news while adding nothing intelligent or constructive to the national discourse. He is playing Palin's crowd of course. The birthers and other dolts lap it up. Palin's sheep are easy to herd.
ReplyDeleteI don't think that Newt misspoke at all. He said exactly what he meant to say ... regardless of where the phrase came from. While 'anti-colonialism' is a good thing, it may a a slur to a white supremist that wants to see "them uppity Kenyans that need to be put back in place".
ReplyDeleteWhether "anti-colonialism" is a good thing or bad depends on your point of view. From the First World point of view it is good to be anti-colonial. From the Third World point of view anti-colonialism means you hate those who imposed colonialism on you. Its the 'ol Obama hates whites garbage in intellectual language. I find it highly obnoxious.
ReplyDeleteHopefully minorities and all the sane, reasonable white people will not stand for this GOP bullshit obstructionist, racist, negative messaging and will turn out en masse at the polls in November and vote. And I pray to God that WE are larger in number than the angry, stupid people who listen to FOX, Rush, Beck, and Sarah. Because if not, we're in BIG trouble, people.
ReplyDeleteGingrich has REALLY gone too far.
ReplyDeleteWhich is he suggesting?
Is Obama going to dust off an old Mau- Mau uniform and begin the wholesale slaughter of whites, or will he leave his suit on and find some OTHER way to dispose of them?
Teabaggers, republicans, in fact the entire of FOX news, recent comments are no longer simply derisive and careless, they have become dangerous.
The minority of "republicans " that remain in office, or aspire to office, continue hellbent on destruction, because they lack the intellect for solutions, they lack the heft.
You would probably have to be over 60 to know what Gingrich is referring to, certainly over 50.
My husbands uncle was a Dr., (his wife a nurse) and he gave up a career as head of the largest hospital in Toronto to live in Kenya to teach doctors, and "auntie Pat" taught nurses there for 15 years.
This was during the rebuilding phase after most of the trouble calmed down
They were both WW2 veterans and claimed the difficulties at times in Kenya were often worse than what they experienced in WW2.
Gingrich is nor simply making a black/birther reference here.
He is attempting to instill the fear of the slaves burning down the plantation and killing the master.
That is what the uprising was about, and many whites were slaughtered, for being white, and becoming wealthy on the backs of the Kenyans.
So according to the Newtjob, whites have that to fear from Obama.
This will probably work on a good number of older white voters as they remember the headlines from those days.
It disgusts me how the GOBP prey on the uniformed voters, but to go after the most vulnerable of these, the seniors is just criminal.
What he has made reference to Obama about is criminal.

THE MAU-MAU And The End Of Colonialism In Kenya (1947-1963)
In reply to Colony's measures, in 1953 the Mau-Mau established a third base in the outskirts of Nairobi and intensified their actions, which became real military operations against settlers' farms or loyalist towns.
In the massacre of Lari, 93 Africans were murdered by the partisans. The rebels' violence upswing was responded with the same brutality by the British army and the Home Guards, native loyal troops.
The slaughter of Europeans pushed many settlers to leave the country.
In spite of the settlers' resistance, international views clearly sided with the Africans.
The United Nations Assembly agreed a Declaration of Concession of Independence to the Colonial Countries and Peoples.
Even John Fitzgerald Kennedy, president of the United States, pleaded for an Africa for the Africans.

What it up with Gingrich's wife? In the trailer she looks scary. Her tone is that of someone trying to inflect reason into insanity.
ReplyDeleteAnti-colonialism, kind of like the signers of the Declaration of Independence.
