Oh I like this news very much!

From PR Buzz:

WashingtonDCHotels.com reported that booking demand for hotel rooms in Washington DC for Steven Colbert's "March to Keep Fear Alive" and John Stewart's "Rally to Restore Sanity" rallies scheduled for October 30th is outpacing Glenn Beck's "Restoring Honor Rally" for the same comparative period.

According to Gerri Smyth, Washington DC Hotel's Director of Reservations, booking demand for comparative periods show about a 25% higher demand with less than 6 weeks to go. "We can't say that this higher demand for hotel rooms means Colbert's and Stewart's rallies mean these events will be better attended than Mr. Beck's Restoring Honor Rally. There are other factors at play, including the lead time from the initial announcement to the event, which can either compress or extend out booking patterns. Also, within about 2 weeks of Mr. Beck's event, there were effectively no hotel vacancies in Washington DC. So, we can't extrapolate and say we are going to see a bigger event. Perhaps the data shows liberals and moderates tend to be more conservative and book more in advance or maybe it means that conservative activists tend to be more self-reliant and liberal with risk taking. Or, most likely, it doesn't mean much of anything. As Mark Twain would be apt to say, perhaps 'figures lie and liars figure', so we'll just let somebody else do the figuring," said Smyth with a grin.

My hope for this rally is that it attracts over 500,000 people.

And I mean ACTUALLY attracts 500,000 people!

You know 500,000 that AirPhotosLive.com can count independently and does not have to rely on the estimates of Glenn Beck, Ann Coulter, or Sarah Palin..

    Its gonna be huge.
The Marine Corp marathon is also that weekend, so we should get some of those people to attend as well! If you are going, book now. We are staying in Alexandria for 1/2 the price ofo the District. Short metro hop in!

I'm in the Mpls, MN area and will be taking a chartered bus from Chicago with about 60 other rally goers.
We leave Fri night and return Sat night - so no hotel involved. I'm sure lots of people will be taking the trains in from NY,NJ,CT, etc. and lots of buses doing a turn-around like we're doing.

I find it hard to believe this will not surpass the Beck religious right revival meeting of 87k attendees.

  3. My husband and I are definitely going! We are taking the first train out of the station at 7 a.m. and coming back that night - so don't need a room.

I am positive there are going to be a ton of folks from NY, PA, and NJ and other near by states that are doing the same thing.

I'm guessing but I would think that most folks for Beck's thing had to book rooms because they were from more rural states so not close enough to take a train or drive in just for the day.

But Stewart and Colbert will attrack a huge crowd from NY, PA, NJ, etc. and add that to those who can attend from further away and booking rooms - it should be HUGE!!!

We need to promote the One Nation rally also that is next weekend! That one is important too.

Can I just say, as someone who is often in the DC metro area, soooo many people are coming in for this--amazing how far they are coming from, too. How do I know? Just among my friends alone, the response has been surprisingly and wildly enthusiastic.

Wow, doesn't everyone think that we should focus on the 10-2 rally rather than the Stewart/Colbert rally? So much more important.

    Anon at 6:49 am.

I agree. But people would rather be entertained than organize. It's harder work to get out in the trenches, you know.

    I wish I were wrong.

Thankfully, not everyone feels that way, though.

  14. "Millennials don’t see government as a panacea, but they believe in its potential and want to take it back from the special interests and the power elites."

This is as stupid a statement as ever blew forth from any tea-stained lips. "government as panacea" is an epithet hurled at people who believe that good government is a reality and involves thoughtful reflection on the part of those who are elected by the people to represent the peoples' interests.

"Special interests and elites?" Who is that exactly. If it's lobbyists for corporations, ok. If it's people with good educations and the ability to speak in full sentences then I'll happily engage a little elitism in defense of good government.

6:49--This rally will help tremendously to energize the base on the Left. Its a great thing. The differences between the mean spirited dull Right rallies and the more light hearted while still getting the message out Left will be freeing for us who have been shouted down and cussed out so much.It takes me back to my days in the late 60's and early 70's.

  19. What I love the most about this event is that it's truly a grassroots movement -- started with a facebook page and a plea for a rally to Restore Truthiness to DC.

And don't forget the local DC, VA & MD residents. I hear they're really excited and will be well-represented.

I'm so jealous of all who are going.

For any who posts here that live in the Boston (New England) area and can't make it to D.C., a Facebook group is planning a rally on Boston Common on Oct. 30, 12 noon.

Notwithstanding the power of the Murdoch empire, let's hope this spreads across the country and gets plenty of media attention.

I wouldn't miss this for the world! I'm going from Juneau and will stay for four days. I just about trampled myself to get plane reservations and accommodations after the rallies were announced.

What was that about Democrats' lack of enthusiasm?
