President Obama kinda, sorta "endorses" Jon Stewart's Rally to Restore Sanity!

Holy crap!  This is huge!

You know I sort of thought this thing might just be a lark, a comedic way to poke fun at Glenn Beck's bombastic attempt to convince himself that he was the second coming of Jesus Christ.

But you know this thing might just be a hell of a lot more than that.

This might be a chance for REAL Americans to show that they want to take their country back from the crazy fear mongers on the Right and the "President Obama did not walk on water so we are completely over him" lunatics on the Left.

Hey I think I may I have just been inspired.

If John Stewart's rally can get the attention and obvious, though kind of back handed, support of our President than perhaps it is time that I got out of this very comfortable new office chair of mine (It really is quite comfortable), and did something crazy as well.

SO ON MONDAY OF NEXT WEEK, OR POSSIBLY TUESDAY DEPENDING ON HOW BUSY I AM, THE IMMORAL MINORITY WILL MAKE AN EARTH SHATTERING ANNOUNCEMENT!

Wow! Just typing that kind of made me all giddy.  I wonder what the big announcement will be?  Oh well I guess you will all have to wait until Monday or Tuesday to find out because MY lips are sealed.

BTW I have a question, completelyy off topic and not related to anything, what kind of weather do they have in Washington D.C. this time of year? You know say you needed to pack and wanted to know what kind of clothes to bring or seething like that?  Do they have wi-fi?

Anyhow you just wait until Monday, or possibly Tuesday, to find out the EARTH SHATTERING NEWS!

(Okay the earth might not EXACTLY shatter, but it might lurch a little.  Or not.)

My daughter and I are making plans to attend this event. We are not able to attend tomorrow's event because she couldn't arrange time off from her job, but it's ON for October 30th. Yeah!!

  2. Gryphen have you talked about tomorrows rally in DC, One Nation rally? You can find the info on Ed Schultz website. Over 400 organizations will be there to rally for jobs, our future, and war protests as well. It will be a huge event that will morph Becks hideous religious event. While Jon Stewarts rally will be tons of fun, this One Nation rally is so important for us America loving liberals!

  3. Just don't take your daughter's RV (or you may not make it and end up stuck in some God forsaken "conservaland").

Get thyself to DC! Between Colbert and Stewart, I hope the numbers eclipse any/everything Palin and Beck have done so far. I wish I could go but am unable to travel any more, so I'll hit the donate button.

Yes - it is getting cool in this area now - not as cold as Alaska, but you would need warmer clothing. And yes - Wi-Fi is everywhere.

Cannot wait for the earth to shatter!

DC Weather should be pretty mild, jacket and long pants weather probably. You know - should 'anyone' need to know.

    (see you there!)

  6. gryph, this is a great weather site:

    http://www.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/findweather/getForecast?query=Washington,%20District%20of%20Columbia&wuSelect=WEATHER

aka "the weather underground.com" -still can't tell if they meant that name to be weirdly referential, but great weather and blogs addressing everything from the gulf oil to droughts and tropical storms.

but anyway, it will give you current temps and if you scroll down everything from seasonal averages to almanac predictions and moon phases.

whatever you do, drive/fly safe! i have family a train ride from downtown DC (maryland, but they work in DC)...perhaps around halloween is finally the time to visit them from here in chicagoland??? ;)

I booked tickets for my husband and I on the Thursday that they announced it! I am so excited to be heard- in a calm and rational manner.
Wow- wouldn't it be great if someone started to hear us???

Why do my comments never get posted? I don't say anything negative or cuss - last one simply encouraged you to go, offered to make a donation, and talked of weather and wifi......this isn't the first time I didn't get posted. Am I blocked for some reason?

OMG! Gryphen r u coming to DC? Well, the weather lately has been hot, but we are now in for a big cool down (mid sixties, summer by your standards). Thus area can vary wildly by Halloween... it can be in the fifties-mid sixties or even as high as eighty. Hope you'll make it!

Day temps are in the 50's on average in late October in DC. But can be cooler.

I'm going. Driving from Mpls, MN to Chicago, then on a chartered bus to DC!!!

    Can't wait!

From what I've read and heard, the Hotel/Motel industry is seeing a 25-50% positive difference between Stewarts rally, and Becks. Just going by that, the combined Stewart/Colbert rally should be a big, big deal.
As far as the weather goes, anything you have in clothing to deal with moderate (balmy where you're at) weather, should be fine.

Ditto to Sue's message regarding the One Nation rally October 2. Let's not become the Republicans. We need to work together to save the middle class and this nation.

  17. Can't wait on the Earth Shaken news. Wowie so excited. I hope you have fun at the rally and be sure to take lots of pictures.

Right now the weather is very weird. Pack for cool to mild days should be good. Maybe a coat for rain.

  18. Weatherwise - it's fallish - a bit cool, it's rainy today

I'm in NJ - so Washington DC is most likely a bit warmer then we are - but seasonally it close.

Hubby and I will be there (we are catching a 7 a.m. train out the station near our house - would be awesome if you were there too! We need to coordinate hats, signs or something so all of us who read the blog who attend the rally can recognize each other.

If you want to take the train with us - we have a couch for you to sleep on.

Huffington Post is providing free buses out of NY - how awesome is that.

Have lived in the D.C. area for the past 30 years. It's always nice for Halloween. Temps are usually in the sixties or low 70's. If you need a place to stay, I've got space.

    I'll see you there!

Yeah, this is huge. I guess you missed Stewart absolutely eviscerating Obama.

I'll keep it short. He basically said (about dems),
    "We suck."

And about this event--let's see if it translates to people getting to the polls, which it won't because Stewart has mailed it in and he's going to give you the same stuff he's been giving his audience which essentially is, "I've had it with this guy"--"this guy" being the president.

  28. I'm jazzed for (and jealous of) everyone going to DC other than my worry about rally-goers getting home in time to vote on Tuesday or vote absentee before they leave town. It would suck if the rally kept people away from the polls.

LOL!! "Do they have WiFi?" .Thats kind of funny since you live in Alaska.Pretty sure you will find WiFi more than sufficient in D.C.If you rent a car and do any driving,be careful on the Beltway. Its not for the faint hearted!

My husband actually checked into the cost of going to DC, even though we can't afford it. We can dream, can't we?

  31. Anonymous1:22 PM

My husband and I live in Anchorage, and we made our reservations the day after they announced the rallies. I know at least four other people who are going, three of them from Alaska.

Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert kept me sane during the Bush Blight. The only other marches or gatherings I've ever joined were the two demonstrations against Palin in 2008. It's going to feel good to be part of a big group that's FOR something.

dress for "soggy weather" .. if you are lucky and it is like today (read the above descript) jeans a light shirt and a light jacket.. maybe a hoodie.. and if you are staying outdoors after dark (which you will WANT to do if you are in D.C. hello! night life!) bring a warm and dry but not arctic warm
