Young people came from across the Southwest to Our Saviour Lutheran Church in Arcadia on Saturday to hear Bristol Palin give a motivational speech on the dangers facing teens.
The speech was part of Lovefest, an annual two-day church event that focuses on teens and values. The event held in a church tent familiar to the revival circuit, where youngsters listened to Palin's speech.
Palin was brought in to serve as a role model and to talk candidly about her experience as a teenage mom. Children came from across Southern California and from as far away as Nevada, church officials said.
"She came right out and said, `I've been criticized and called an hypocrite because I was taking a stance on abstinence and I said I don't want you to go through this,"' said Dave Sweeney, co-founder of the Love Fest. "She implored young people to not to listen to those who say abstinence is not a big deal."
Church officials kept much of media away during Palin's speech and kept a close watch over the limited number of media members present. Direct questions to Palin were off limits.
No media, no questions, and a simple speech delivered from behind the safety of a podium. Yep Bristol is DEFINITELY her mother's child.
She even has her mother's famous thin skin as evidenced by her remarks about being "criticized and called a hypocrite." Clearly Bristol is turning into Sarah 2.0.
To be honest I almost skipped posting this, until I got a look at the pictures accompanying the article.
For those who were not convinced that the picture from the visit to Reagan's Ranch (which I included at the top in a composite which also contains a picture of Bristol from May 5, 2010.), was in fact Bristol, take a look at the link I provided and tell me what you see. I'll tell you what I saw. A heavily supervised event with "No Trespassing" signs in front of a church. Bristol has had some work done on her chin, for sure. I read somewhere that Piper was with her (out of school, again, Diaper??) but not Willow. Willow must have had bay duty for the weekend, what with Sarah and Toad getting ready for the big race...it takes a lot of planning to be able to cheat at these things.

The audacity of this young woman to tell a newsine that she provides stability with her lifestyle to Tripp compared to Levi.
And what is with these obvious physiological changes that outpace a lifetime of most women? Why would she want to be so fat on a live, three month show and yo-yo after that?
Oh right, such 'suffering.' Boo hoo. Your only claim to fame is being a pregnant teen thrust on the national stage by your mother. All unwed mothers should "suffer" like you.. condo, magazine spread, Candie's ads, DWTS, buying a house for cash in AZ. Yup, typical unwed teen mom.

*beats head on desk* For the 1000th time, if a group is going to get a speaker to speak about the difficulties of becoming a parent while still a teen, they need to pick someone who didn't become wealthy and famous because of that pregnancy.

Bristol worries about which location to "winter" and "summer" in, and if she'll be healed up enough to have any pictures taken at her next paid speaking event.

See, Bristol, no one cares that you had a baby out of wedlock. However, it does grate that you make lots of money saying how horrible having a baby out of wedlock is because it hasn't been horrible--FOR YOU. You've made tons of money. You're a TV star. You've bought a house. You fly around the country--first class, I bet. Your picture is on the cover of magazines.
So pardon us if we really find it a little hypocritical for you to stand in front of a group of people and whine about how you've SUFFERED, because no one sees it. Teenage girls are lining up trying to get some of your brand of "suffering."
You control how much you "suffer." You can end it by going home, enrolling in school and getting paid to be something other than a "celebrity."
Sadly, I think you've adopted your mother's mantra: "the only thing worse than being talked about is NOT being talked about."

She has stated publicly that she has a boyfriend (who practically lives with her). A former one asked publicly if she was pregnant. She takes her son from his father. She wants to give Americans who don't like her dancing a big middle finger. She was rude to a school teacher who protested against her mom. And she charges big bucks for this?
Makes me wonder if the folk in that church have their head in the sand.

This is typical behavior from the religious right. I worked for a number of years at a large Christian company that produced products specifically for Christians. I've never worked with a more hypocritical bunch of people in my life. The back-stabbing was out of control. You really have to watch your wallet with these kinds of companies too...every sin they commit gets forgiven when they go to church on Sunday so they feel free to do whatever they want the other 6 days of the week.

America worships Celebrities, small towns don't get many celebs, so when a "celeb" like Bristol comes to town, everyone goes to see her because not much happens there otherwise.

Without getting into the photo issue, the whole abstinence thing has been proven in research studies to ultimately backfire:

He further goes on to conclude that: "The greater likelihood of religious adolescents having unprotected sex, however, may partially neutralize the health affects of religion on reducing promiscuity".
I have read another research study indicating that abstinence typically delays the first intercourse only about a year. These teens who have been brain washed that condoms and other birth control don't work, then engage in unprotected sex, ultimately increasing the spread of STDs and unwanted pregnancy.
OK, continuing my rant, why can't some group pay her to tout the truth: ABSTINENCE DPESN'T WORK!!!

ReplyDeleteIt was Sarah's choice to put Bristol (and Levi) on the campaign stage and promise us that they were going to get married. After Tripp was born, Bristol lucked into a swell condo, an easy job as an office manager (receptionist?), appeared in magazines, was paid thousands of dollars to tell other kids not to do what she did and tv interviews.
When Bristol (and Levi) became briefly engaged (to sell the idea of a tv reality series), Sarah quickly put an end to it, Bristol was packed up and brought back to Wasilla. Suddenly, she turned into a dancing star. Now, she turned some of that easy money into a five bedroom house, a radio gig, a book deal and speeches, which means that Bristol doesn't have to work very hard for money to keep coming her way.
She hasn't suffered anything for the past two years. Perhaps a little unwanted publicity and criticism for being a poor speaker and having a weight problem. Anyone who chooses the life of celebrity puts themselves in place for the same kind of criticism. How shallow are we? After every awards show, there is a page of the worst dressed stars. We're obsessed with image. It's not personally directed at Bristol; it's the price of fame and publicity.
I think that Bristol should choose her words more carefully. Saying that she suffered for two years is ridiculous. There are young single mothers who do not have the publicity machine of Sarah Palin behind them. They would love to have a condo, a five bedroom house, an easy job and easy money. Their lives are much more difficult that Bristol can ever imagine. And, when she says that she has suffered, that's a terrible message for Tripp. When he is old enough to type the word "google," all of Bristol's complaining is there for him to read. While she made be the model of abstinence (with a parade of boy friends), she is no role model as a single mother.

As for the plastic surgery, I just don't even know what to say except that the surgeon made her look uglier.

Okay (sob sob, tears) it is hard being a single mom with only a GED education so I got a new chin with the money I made selling my son's pictures to the highest bidder. I agree with several previous comments:
ReplyDelete1. Small towns and rural areas will come our for even minor celebrities because of the buzz and cachet - particularly if the local church lends a cover of respectability.
2. The audience was mostly elderly.
3. Most churches get as a big a crowd or bigger just for selling pumpkins at Halloween or giving candy at Easter egg hunts.

I sincerely wish that both Sarah and Bristol would spend some of their money on voice coaches.
Bristol read her speech fairly well, but her voice is beginning to grate on the nerves just as her mom's. Add to that the flat delivery and man - what a stinker of a speech.
I was also rather shocked to see this happen at a Lutheran church. The Lutherans here in the Midwest are not known as raving lunatics or all that conservative either. More like Garrison Keillor's Lake Wobegon folks.
This must have been one of those congregations who freaked out when the majority of Lutherans began supporting gay rights.
In a November issue of In Touch Weekly, Bristol claimed that she would never go under the knife for cosmetic reasons and said that she wouldn't "get a nose job or anything like that." With all of the lying that she does, she should NOT be a role model for anyone because people should NOT trust her. It's all about money for her. I can't understand why anyone would purposely do that to their face. I am all for cosmetic surgery when you need it, but she looks like a mix of Jay Leno and Arlen Specter. Also, everything that she has criticized Levi for in the past (wanting the spotlight, writing a book, badmouthing Tripp's other family, etc.) are all the things that she is doing now, except she is worse. It may seem like none of our business, but she keeps letting everyone in her life by doing all of those pointless interviews. Bristol certainly isn't that bright.

I have a hunch that Sarah has taken over orchestrating Bristol's life, including how to handle the latest "weight issue" and Bristol's latest cosmetic adjustments. Wow, the changes are so noticeable. I was once a single parent, struggling like many. I was not offered the great benefits that Bristy has received. Lucky her.
ReplyDeleteI also was very unhappy with my nose and other facial aspects. But I never considered changes. Looking back at pictures of myself, I realize it was more of the unhappy adolescent and young adult than actual physical deformities. I have since been told that I was very, very good looking.
How can parents lets a young person do what she has done to her face. Very, very poor advice. But then we know who her parents are. She was very pretty and very distinctive. I don't think the changes are that complementary to her.
Jeez...and just like her mama, know matter how many speeches Bristol gives, her stage presence is still God awful, holy shit that girl is a bore. Always looking down at her prepared speech, rocking back and forth, no emotion,her speech was flat. I would imagine most of that audience was hard of hearing, anyway.

For me whatever she does at these gigs she is the same person who lied about het office job, used foul verbal abuse, on national tv gave a loud fick you goal to people. ReplyDeleteThere are a couple of factions to the Lutheran church. The one she spoke at is of the Missouri Synod branch which is not known for their open-mindedness.
The tolerant branch is ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church of(?) America)and they are very welcoming and forward thinking and have nothing to do with Missouri Synod.
She only looks weird with the chin in that one photo. She looks normal in the speech pics

THEN come back and tell us about suffering. Maybe then your words will have some credence.

There are some who say that your mother is pretty, but she has personally shattered that description, in my opinion.
The first time I saw your mother was on TV as McCain's running mate and when I heard her speak, I knew that what I was looking at and listening to was RANCID. And my assessment has not changed since then. Your mother always confirms my first reaction to her, to this day.
Bristol, you don't need to go down the same path as your mother, as a laughing stock.
WHAT did she do to her nose and her chin?!? WHY did she have the gawdawful alterations done?

ReplyDeleteI did everything right. I went to school, got a job, got married, and had a kid after we had enough money saved. We live within in means. We try not to pay for unneccessy things, such as cable. We own our vehicles out right.
However, even though we both work, we struggle to pay child care.
I can't stand listening to this spoiled, stupid brat complain about how hard she has it when her home is payed for, she has a nanny, and she doesn't have to work. We see pictures of her going out at night.
I haven't been out at night (except to work late) since before my 2 year old was born.
She gets NO SYMPATHY from this hard working, college educated, married mother.

Just imagine where this girl would be without the name Palin, no where. For the record Palin is not a name you would want to be associated with. The Palin name represents freeloaders and frauds. The Palin name is not honorable. Can anybody name anything honorable a Palin has done or earned?

ReplyDeleteI did not look that closely, but am not sure Whittier is a small town. If it's the one in So Cal, it's not that far from LA, the second largest city in the country. If the audience is a bunch older people, and they still need help with the idea of abstinence, then for the sake of the rest of the planet, for crying out loud, please remain abstinent!
And for 7:32 Anonymous, yes, one kid I know pulled a driver out of a burning 18 wheeler and is a testimonial to being raised properly by his parents. Unlike this trainwreck family.

ReplyDeleteOff topic, but a very interesting story about the company Sarah Palin wanted to give a half Billion to. Remember that pipeline she says she built? A lot of people think Trans Canada wanted the pipeline to ship cheap natural gas to the tar sands for processing the oil. After reading this story, I can believe it and seeing that the Koch brothers are involved, it explains a lot about the support Sarah is still getting.

ReplyDeleteThere are 2 main Lutherans in America: LCMS (Luthean Chruch Missouri Synod) and ELCA (Evengelical Lutheran Church of America).
The LCMS is conservative and the ELCA is more liberal.
Most Lutheran churches, regardless of affiliation, are more like the Episcopalians or the Catholics rather than like Baptists or non-deminationals. They have set rules and procedures for dealing with just about everything. The pastor's are quite educated and have to spend some time in college learning Greek, Latin and even some Hebrew.
However, in the last few years (under the former leadership of President Gerry Kishnick-a Texas friend of George Bush junior), the LCMS has had some strange turns. There are a few rogue LCMS churches out there (I know of 2 in North Texas alone), that are more like non-deminational churches or like a Holy Roller church. Before Kishnick, these churches would have been kick out of LCMS.
That being said, I imagine that this LCMS church is more of a rogue element and not a "typical" Lutheran or LCMS church. Probably, most LCMS members wouldn't even recognize this church was LCMS if they didn't have it printed on the sign out front.
Some of the chin comments seem a bit rude.

I agree with Bretta at 10:12am. I don't think that is Bristol. That person's nose has a "hanging columella" which plastic surgeons want to get rid of. Surgeons don't create those--they are considered a "defect". (I have one, so am aware of this.) Link to a Dr.'s page:

The second person's eyes are dark brown and Bristol's are lighter. Also, the second person's hair seems very dark naturally, while Bristol's hair is brown, but not as dark as the stand in.

I believe some cultures consider huge chins and beaky noses, by surgical intervention, a status symbol due to ill-gained riches and too much disposable income while others consider it a right of passage.

Has anyone here ever considered the possibility that Bristol suffers from Stockholm Syndrome? Sure seems likely to me. I feel sorry for her. Her life is really messed up and I don't mean by Tripp or all the benefits she got from having him. Would you want to have Sarah for a mother?

she's had under-chin lipo, a chin implant, and tooth veneers. she hasn't done a thing to her nose IMO, it's just that all the other stuff changes the balance of her face so much.
she would also have some swelling around the implant that will go down and look less leno-ish.

ReplyDeletethe only weight bristol has lost was sucked out of her neck/chin area. her arms and gut are still as big today as they were on dwts, which is why the chin job is so f-ing obvious. if it's not obvious to you, as I said, you might need glasses.

Given the amount of makeup, a mole is trivial to fake.
Saying that Piper flew down with her may be a distraction. Was Piper in the audience? Would Piper even care which family member she was with on yet another boring trip?
Rocking back and forth is a "comfort" action. People who are nervous and out of a familiar element do it subconsciously. Bristol has given enough speeches and TV interviews that she shouldn't rock. Twitch & fidget maybe, but not rock. If the real Bristol doesn't rock, spotting doubles might be even easier. ;^)
has it occurred to anyone that bristol may be the canary in sarah's gold mine? perhaps she was shoved into the spotlight on dwts to see if bots and others such as would prop up the vote for her? then sarah would know for sure they'd be by her side for the long run, willing to make a public ass of themselves and the show's producers. and on it now goes with bristol's incompetence tour. over a thousand people inside spell-bound and others outside crying rill tears for not getting to see their heroine. for sarah this is further proof of the palin p**sy power. and as long as the crowds are turning up for b, they'll be there for her, to the crusty end. sorry about that last imagery...
ReplyDeleteEarlier today, I saw the Feb. 14 edition of Star magazine. There's no hint of a Bristol article on the cover so I was quite surprised to come across the Bristol-Gino story and absolutely the worst photo of her I've ever seen.

Bristol should sue her doctor for giving her Jay Leno's chin. She looks awful.
