Sarah Palin has an "aides" problem. Political aides that is, why what did you think I meant?

"Electable, Shmelectable! Check out my cute shoes!"
From Real Clear Politics:

On Wednesday, Palin aides moved to spin Recher and McMarlin's departure, first reported in New York Magazine earlier this week, as one that was always planned and amicable. But several sources with direct knowledge of the situation told RealClearPolitics that Recher and McMarlin's exits from Palin's sphere were anything but harmonious.

Along with McMarlin, a seasoned GOP communications specialist, Recher formed a company called NorthStar Strategies shortly after Palin stepped down in 2009 and continued to be a central figure in Palin's inner circle.

NorthStar's name was a clear reference to Palin's frequent allusions to Alaska as the "great north star" and revealed the duo's long-term plans to remain aligned with the former governor.

Recher organized Palin's successful Going Rogue nationwide book tour and was often photographed by Palin's side as she signed copies of her bestselling book in venues across the country.

"You have to give Jason credit for a portion of her continued popularity with her supporters," Peter Watkins, who worked in the White House with Recher, said. "Just look at the operation that has been run. That book tour was quite sophisticated. It was on a national scale, and you had media attention at every stop."

Recher's other crowning achievement at SarahPAC came after he introduced Palin to the founders of PassCode Creative -- the Nashville-based video production company that produced SarahPAC's 2010 "Mama Grizzlies" campaign-style video. The video was almost universally praised for its high-quality production value and resonance with female voters.

But sometime around the middle of last year, Recher fell out of favor with Palin, although no one with knowledge of the incident in question would agree to go on the record to discuss it.

Over the next several months, Palin kept Recher and McMarlin on the payroll, but it became obvious to reporters that Recher was no longer in the loop in the way he used to be.

SarahPAC's effort to sell a "nothing to see here" story to the media in downplaying Recher and McMarlin's roles appeared not to sit well with former colleagues, who lined up to vouch for both men's talents.

The barely hidden truth of course is that Palin has a VERY abrasive, and somewhat schizophrenic, personality that makes it all but impossible for aides to last for very long within the inner circle. And believe me you will soon begin to hear a whole LOT more about that as various Palin themed books find their way to the local bookstores.

In fact quite a large number of aides and supporters have come away singed from getting too close the fiery personality disorder that engulfs our very own Klondike Kardashian. Including John Bitney, Meg Stapleton, Frank Bailey, Kris Perry, Nicolle Wallace, John Stein, Steve Schmidt, Andree McLeod, Todd Palin ( I am pretty sure he is out of favor right now too.), Ivy Frye, etc., etc., and of course, etc..

In my opinion this will continue to happen until there is virtually NOBODY stupid enough, or masochistic enough to work with the "Queen of Crazytown."

Hell even her own children are running as far away from Alaska as humanly possible!

    sarah is impossible.

    I feel sorry for Greta.

Fox tasked Greta to go up to Alaska and try to salvage some of their investment.

Look at the expression on Greta´s face during sarah´s ¨spudnut¨ reply to the State of the Union address.

Complete and total disdain for sarah.

I hate to be petty but that outfit is schizophrenic. The suit is ok but seems a little casual for a business event. The shoes look like something you would wear clubbing (and no not seals although it wouldn't surprise me to see Sarah attempting that in these shoes) and completely inappropriate for a gathering of business leaders. The bracelet looks like something from a Halloween costume. I am far from a fashionista but she really needs to hire a stylist.

'Tell-all' book by ex-Palin aide leaked to media

Bailey, a former Alaska Airlines employee, was plucked from obscurity when he volunteered for Palin's campaign for governor. He was at the center of the tawdry scandal called Troopergate, and even though he received much negative publicity relating to Troopergate, Palin remained loyal to him until the end and kept him in her administration. His agent, Carol Mann, pumped up Bailey's proposal and memoir in an e-mail that came with the leaked memoir, presumably directed toward a prospective publisher:

Drawing on thousands of emails from the personal accounts of Sarah and Todd Palin as well as key members of the staff, Bailey reconstructs how the Palins' pathologies became apparent, and how he and other members of the team rationalized Sarah's increasingly erratic behavior and their commitment to a cause that was changing shape before their eyes. Bailey's stories and representative emails--which are not subject to FOIA requests and therefore will not be included in the email correspondence scheduled to be released by Alaskan officials this May--sketch a disturbing portrait of Sarah Palin and her inner circle. Given the recent news that Palin's political action committee has hired Michael Glassner, a veteran of both Senator Bob Dole's and Senator John McCain's presidential campaigns, as chief of staff, the revelations and insights of Frank's story are more necessary than ever, as the public will seek to learn as much as possible about the woman who seems to have her sights set on the national stage. Both a chilling expose of the inner workings of Palin's circle and the story of one man's slow drift from his most cherished beliefs and his ultimate redemption, BLIND ALLEGIANCE TO SARAH PALIN is sure to strike a chord with readers on both sides of the aisle.

Although it's Bailey's book, and is ostensibly true to his voice, it has two co-authors: Jeanne Devon, the founder of the popular Alaska website Mudflats, and Ken Morris, a former Wall Street executive turned California novelist. Devon has been a big critic of Palin over the past few years. Morris's name showed up relating to Palin after he placed a $100,000 bid in an auction to have dinner with her in fall 2009. Since then he's penned a few columns about Palin for Mudflats and the Huffington Post.

Rachel Maddow had Nicole Wallace on her show not long ago. A class act.

The GOP spent a fortune on Mrs. Todd Palin and she had the most professional, experienced support team the Republican machine could supply. That was her "golden moment" in November of 2008, when even facing defeat from the flawless Obama campaign she could have formed strong and friendly alliances with the top movers and shakers in the country.

And she's pissed it all away.

Of course she blames everyone but herself for her failure to be anything but a great source of material for stand-up comics.

Geoffrey Dunn and Joe McGinniss are paving the way in 2012, but I bet after this election cycle is over, we will hear a LOT more about her use and abuse of support staff.

Here’s part of the leaked pitch for the book made by Carol Mann of the Mann Agency in New York:

“In BLIND ALLEGIANCE TO SARAH PALIN: A Memoir of our Tumultuous Years, Bailey explores such key events as Palin’s gubernatorial victory, Troopergate, illegal coordination with the Republican Governor’s Association, never-before-revealed scandals such as a judicial appointment as payoff for a favorable child custody ruling for Palin’s sister, the vice presidential campaign and the bizarre vetting process, and Palin’s resignation.”

Mann told the Daily News that she wasn’t the one who leaked the pitch or the book manuscript.

“Who sent it to you and why? It is not a finished draft and there isn't a pub date yet!,” Mann said in an email.

Bailey’s book, entitled “Blind Allegiance to Sarah Palin," was co-written Ken Morris, described as a former Wall Street executive, and Jeanne Devon, who publishes the anti-Palin web site Mudflats.

We're going through the book and will be posting reports here on the Alaska Politics blog.

In the foreword of his 456-page manuscript, originally titled “Renegade: Sarah Palin’s Hatchet Man,” Bailey says Palin e-mailed him, “I hate this damn job” days before she quit in July 2009. The book goes on to describe Palin’s staff targeting political opponents for personal retribution, through a variety of public channels.

“We set our sights and went after opponents in coordinated attacks, utilizing what we called ‘Fox News surrogates’, friendly blogs, ghost-written op eds, media opinion polls (that we often rigged), letters to editors, and carefully edited speeches,” Bailey wrote. “Nobody needed to be told what to do; we understood Sarah’s silent mandate to do something now.”

Bailey says he regretted his actions on Palin’s behalf, describing them as contrary to the Christian principles in which he believed.

“I have no doubt Sarah's belief in God was real and passionate. Hers just wasn’t the same God I knew growing up, the one who preached the importance of love, honor, and charity,” Bailey wrote. “That I turned my back on these teachings and offered her blind allegiance is a cross I will forever bear.”

An electronic copy of the book was forwarded to Alaska Dispatch reporter Craig Medred by author Joe McGinniss, who asked nothing be published prior to obtaining comment from Bailey and Devon. Bailey declined to comment Thursday night, referring questions to his agent. Devon could not be reached for comment.

McGinniss, in an e-mail, said he was passing the manuscript along because it "has been widely distributed in (New York) without any request for confidentiality." A best-selling author, McGinniss is writing his own Palin book. Last summer he rented the house next to hers at Lake Lucille in Wasilla, which caused a huge uproar.

Even before an ex-aide to former Gov. Sarah Palin had sold his memoir, the book -- Blind Allegiance to Sarah Palin: A Memoir of Our Tumultuous Years" -- has now been leaked to the media, including a reporter at Alaska Dispatch on Thursday night.

Blind Allegiance is the story of Palin aide and confidant Frank Bailey's time spent working for the governor, from when she announced she was running for governor until her abrupt resignation in 2009. Heavily relying on emails between Bailey, Sarah and ex-First Dude Todd Palin, his memoir begins near the end of Palin's governorship with the following line:

On April 28, 2009, Sarah wrote a simple, but frequently repeated message: I hate this damn job...

And the book ends with an epiphany. Bailey writes:
I will never, ever, surrender blind allegiance to anyone again, save God and family.

  54. Look anyone who is talking about the "leak" of the book as something wrong: did it even occur to you that the so called "leak" might have been intentional. She is making more and more coy noises about running for President ... oh gee I don't know but a mother, a hockey mom, yada, yada, yada ... and she is making appearances dressed like, well (some of you say it better than me) I don't want to really use the word - she has continued to bash our President and now she goes after our First Lady with equal fervor. It is past time to stop her and if leaking someone's confession (yes, it sounds as though Baily is confessing to God (the one I know and apparently he does too) then so be it!

Didn't Bailey start once before to talk about his book and give inklings of what it might contain only to withdraw? Maybe (Gryphen probably knows because I certainly did not know Jeanne Devon, fondly called AKM by us Mudflatters was co-writing or researching this book) Bailey was threatened, or afraid, and needed reinforcements before proceeding. And he got them, thank God. If this is the iceberg, or just the tip of it, and trust me, it could just be the tip based on what we suspect she and Todd have done, I will be forever grateful to Bailey and AKM and Mr. Morris, and to anyone who supported them behind the scenes.

It seems Frank Bailey, the right hand man to former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin has decided to take a little bit of the former governor's advice; he's reloading instead of retreating.

In a previewed manuscript entitled, "Blind Allegiance to Sarah Palin," Bailey uses his inside knowledge and access to private emails between inner circle members to finally come clean about all of those Palin controversies.

From the 2006 gubernatorial campaign and Troopergate to life back in Juneau after her loss with John McCain in 2008, Bailey's book contains non-stop revelations about the twisted and vindictive life of Sarah and Todd Palin that is an absolute page turner.

In short, the book does one thing that would make me want to buy it; the book validates everything I've ever written or said about Sarah Palin.

Bailey's book reveals a narcissistic liar who was an incompetent governor and a manipulative self promoter who would stop at nothing to destroy those who crossed her. His accounts of her treatment of friends and foes alike, along with her penchant for always playing the victim is astonishing in it's historical clarity.

The first sentence of the book says it all. "On April 28, 2009, Sarah wrote a simple, but frequently repeated message: I hate this damn job..."

Just one of my favorite lines; Chapter 13 Truth Optional.

"While I disliked Andrew Halcro, the guy nailed the truth and no one - including the always Palin-bashing, persistently misguided Dan Fagan believed him."

Regarding State Trooper Mike Wooten and Troopergate:

"Despite my own dislike for Wooten and the lack of historical context for the compulsive attacks against him, my becoming Todd's go-to guy in an attempt to destroy another man's life remains inexcusable, representing a lack of common sense or due diligence. I should have known better. By the time Todd approached me to be his ally, I was fully aware that I worked for a couple who felt revenge a sweet drink. I joined in with much enthusiasm and too few facts."

Frank Bailey's memoir is a must read.

Bailey says he regrets role in Troopergate

Bailey was a central figure in the “Troopergate” matter, in which the Legislature investigated whether Palin abused her power and pressed for the firing of state trooper Mike Wooten, her former brother-in-law. In August of 2008, after the Legislature had started its investigation, Palin held a press conference in which she said Bailey had acted out of bounds.

At the press conference Palin released a recording of a phone call between Bailey and a trooper lieutenant outlining various complaints against Wooten -- from drunken driving to lying on an application -- saying the governor and her husband wondered why the trooper still had a job. The recording had apparently surfaced after the Department of Law began its own investigation of the matter at Palin’s request following the start of the Legislature’s inquiry.

Here’s how Bailey describes the release of the recording in which he pressured the trooper lieutenant:

"My family suffered alongside me, largely in silence while Sarah and Todd Palin resorted to doing what they did so often in the past, deny, deny, deny. “His comments were unauthorized as well as just wrong,” she said about me during a hastily-called press conference on August 13.

Bailey doesn't say whether Palin knew that he made the phone call to trooper lieutenant. But he wrote "by this time we all understood truth was a thing to be dragged out only when convenient."

In the manuscript, Bailey expresses regret over his actions related to Wooten and describes his growing disillusionment with the Palin crusade.

    He writes:

"Trooper Wooten and how nearly all of us Rag Tags became pre-occupied with bringing him down, is a complicated story, less straightforward than describing the illegal coordination of the campaign with the RGA, or using an insider in the Halcro campaign to mine information, or phony letters-to-the-editors and op-eds. In those cases, we were running for office and felt the pressure of win-at-all-costs. Losing at the ballot meant losing the dream. On top of that, our chasing after Ruedrich, Fagan, Halcro, Lyda Green, Andree McLeod, ADN columnists, Governor Murkowski, John Binkley, and later, in 2009, an endless list of enemies, paled in comparison to the Trooper Wooten quest. And what, I wish to heaven I’d asked myself, was the importance to our job of governing Alaska in destroying Mike Wooten, and how was that remotely worth the hundreds and hundreds of man-hours spent trying to do so? How, for the love of God, would destroying him personally and professionally make the first family safer, as Sarah and Todd swore over and over was their main concern?

"This tale, unfortunately, includes the worst of Sarah’s dysfunctional psyche and administration, including the compulsion to attack enemies, deny truth, play victim, and employ outright deception.

"And while the seeds of the scandal were planted back in 2005 and continued unabated into 2008, the pathos was exponentially elevated when John McCain reached out to Sarah Palin as a savior for his floundering presidential ticket. As such, these events directly related to McCain’s own incompetent vetting process. As political Perfect Storms go, this resembled two Category Fives meeting head-on."

I've been thinking about Sarahs' strange comment that Todd was not involved with a prostitution ring, when that was never the accusation. Where would she come up with something like that?
    Maybe she let something slip...

Well IM'ers, now we have a real insider story. The question is how long it will take before a copy of this PDF is at wikileaks or on torrents

    http://www.alaskadispatch.com/blogs/palin-watch/8847-book-manuscript-by-ex-palin-aide-leaked-to-media

"Blind Allegiance" is the story of Palin aide and confidant Frank Bailey's time spent working for the governor, from when she announced she was running for governor until her abrupt resignation in 2009.

Heavily relying on e-mails between Bailey, Sarah and ex-First Dude Todd Palin, his memoir begins near the end of Palin's governorship with the following line:

On April 28, 2009, Sarah wrote a simple, but frequently repeated message:

    I hate this damn job...!!!!!!!

Among other things, the book alleges illegal coordination between Palin and the Republican Governors Association during her 2006 governor's race, something that she denied at the time. A

The book ends with the following epiphany:

I will never, ever, surrender blind allegiance to anyone again, save God and family.

Sarah will not be able to resist the addiction of running over the former aides a few times.
She cannot admit that she is not chosen of God and actually has to rely on mere mortals to succeed.

Rechter didn't run a successful book tour, God and Sarah did. Rechter was a tool given to her by God to use and discard. God will always make another fool - [sorry,] tool available for her.

The combination of hippy bracelet, too tight black leather jacket over sagging breasts, and a pair of oil spill stained super high heels, is likely to get her on a few worst dressed lists.

Why will she not hire somebody to do her hair? It's tax detectable, like the breast pumps. Honestly it looks like she slept in it/forgot her comb and brush.

I must note, sadly, that Bailey was on board until she dumped him, right? Only after being rejected did he begin the examination of his conscience...

Bailey describes making illegal campaign ad

    From Kyle Hopkins in Anchorage:

In the fall of 2006, Sarah Palin had just trounced former Gov. Frank Murkowski in the Republican primary and was fighting a three-way battle in the general election for governor.

Palin’s campaign was rooted in her image as anti-establishment Republican funded by a grassroots campaign.

So when the D.C.-based Republican Governors Association began running ads attacking Democratic candidate Tony Knowles and praising Palin, opponents cried foul, accusing her of being a hypocrite for leaning on outside money.

Critics wondered about one scene in the ad in particular: Palin striding from the Hotel Captain Cook. How did the RGA get that footage, they wondered, if the Association is forbidden from coordinating its campaign with Palin? The Alaska Democratic Party accused Palin of illegally coordinating with the RGA.

In his book, Bailey now says the allegation was true.

Palin and her aides had walked through the hotel doors again and again in order to allow a camera operator to capture footage for the ad, he said. “Sarah conducted multiple takes and knew exactly what was happening. She had, I suddenly believed, broken the law."

“Not only that, but did so in the pursuit of what was a negative ad, ripping our opponent," Bailey wrote. "We promised a hundred, hundred times to run a positive campaign, no matter the political consequences. How could this be? We were the good guys. Suddenly nothing made sense in my world. If this wasn’t dirty politics as usual, what was?"

Bailey writes the Rep. Bill Stoltze, R-Chugiak, called him before the primary election saying he had “people who will help” Palin in the general election campaign. After Palin’s victory over Murkowski, Stoltze told him his friends were with the RGA and could provide hundreds of thousands of dollars in aid, according to Bailey's manuscript.

Stoltze encouraged Bailey to contact the RGA through Alaska lobbyist Kris Knauss, Bailey writes.

Bailey said he balked at working with the RGA but describes former Palin aide Kris Perry as an “enthusiastic ally” for the association.

Perry told Bailey to “walk with me and act normal” when they strode to and from the Captain Cook again and again for the scene that would late appear in the RGA commercial, Bailey says.

Perry appeared to be acting on a signal across the street, Bailey wrote. “As if on a rotary where the traffic is too heavy to escape, we went around and around, over and over. In and out, back and forth. Five, maybe six times we circled.”

Stoltze aide Darrell Breese said this afternoon that Stoltze had not yet read the chapter in question and wanted to see it before commenting. Perry and Knauss could not be reached for comment.

The Alaska Public Offices Commission in 2007 fined the RGA $2,350 for TV spots it ran during the campaign. The commission said ads broke campaign disclosure rules that say groups like the RGA could run “issues” ads, but not ads that endorse a specific candidate.

But the public offices commission dismissed a Democratic complaint that Palin coordinated with RGA on the commercial, saying they didn’t have any evidence.

Yes, that’s a lot to fit into a single paragraph, but state Democratic chair Jay Jacobs’ statement on Sarah Palin’s appearance yesterday on Long Island manages to pull off the hat trick:

"Sarah Palin’s continued attacks on First Lady Michelle Obama’s position on breast feeding repeated yesterday before the LIA reminds us that she lacks the necessary gravitas and depth to be seriously considered for the Presidency. What is worse, her remarks evidence a broad lack of understanding of what’s important to Americans today and is a throw-back to the old “slash and burn” politics of the past rejected by the voters and responsible leaders of both parties – particularly her purported hero: President Ronald Reagan, whose 100th birthday we celebrate this month."

The Refined Glamour Of Sarah Palin

We're so obsessed with whatever H&M dress Michelle Obama wore this week when the fashion industry should really be lowering their Blue Blockers at the real style icon of this country: SARAH PALIN. The Governor of... The vice presidential... The reality star... The leading cause of question marks... The um... Oh, it doesn't matter that I have no idea what the hell Sarah Palin does anymore! The only thing that matters right now is that I can see GLAMOUR from her wrist! Sarah Palin was at an event on Long Island (could this be anywhere else?) yesterday and she proudly pledged her allegiance to beaded patriotic cuffs!!! That is the kind of cuff you'd wear to stomp into The Fudge Palace and declare that every American has the right to TEA BAG!

One would think that you'd pair a cuff like that with red and white rubber boots or gladiator sandals made out of torn Nascar t-shirts, but Sarah flipped the fashion world upside down by Siegfried & Roy-ing all of us:

    Image of Purrrrrty shoes

...I didn't know there's such a thing as leopard printed moose (or meese, as someone I knew calls them)! Leave it to Sarah to keep shooting us with new trends. Normally you'd only see a pair of shoes like that standing on a puddle of barf at Karma during an episode of Jersey Shore or kicking at a pimp on the corner, but Sarah has proved to us that they can be as classy as a beaded patriotic cuff!!

    PALIN FLUSHES BASE DOWN TOILET

In a stunning show of non-delusional thinking, Ex-Governor Palin has viciously severed the Umbilicus of Stupid connecting her to the Birther Movement (“Protecting the Constitution From Secret Kenyan Sleeper Terrorist Presidents Since 2008”), a move any sane and serious politician would have made months ago, which is why it's all the more curious that Palin did it:

[Palin] said it was unwise for Republicans to keep doubts alive about the authenticity of President Obama’s birth certificate and citizenship, saying: “It’s distracting. It gets annoying. Let’s stick with what really matters.”

That’s how insane the Birther Movement is: It annoys Sarah Palin, for Christ™’s sake! Possibly the most annoying human being alive is irritated with the Birthers, so she makes with a remarkably cogent word arrangement and – in one single quote – effectively destroys her chances of being nominated. Attagirl, Sarah! Next up: Abortions for everyone, huzzah!

But don’t let that quote fool you; the article is jammed-packed with typical Palin word salad incoherence. Take this gem, for example:

“What people are desiring to see is no more status quo — not necessarily just seeing more players in these political machines, who are sort of preordained and get to be the ones who get nominated and go forth,” Ms. Palin said. “People are ready for our governmental establishment to kind of shake it up.”

I mean what the fuck, Sarah? Absolutely nothing in that sentence makes any sort of cohesive political sense. How is this the language of a Movement Leader? Where is the rally point in that thought? If I’m a Movement Conservative, what part of that do I latch onto and march in step with? “Hell yeah, I am desiring to see no more status quo!” (So much catchier than “Yes We Can!”, don’t you think?) Oh, and Sarah? When I typed that sentence into Word, it immediately flagged the verb tense as passive and suggested that the sentence, as a whole, sucks donkey testicle.

Desperate Sarah Palin Hinting Hard She’s Running For President

...Here’s the ideal format for her campaign. She knows she can’t win, but she needs to be in the presidential conversation to make her money. So she’s probably going to refuse to go to Iowa and New Hampshire so she can take her message to the whole country, i.e., the places that will pay her tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars to say her catchphrases for an hour and pose with conservative men on oxygen tanks who want nothing more in the world than to fuck her. It’s the dream of every little girl in America to run such a “campaign” for president!

Unfortunately for Sarah Palin, she can only be paid the big bucks to announce her candidacy once. Unless she starts up some sort of traveling Wild West show in which she tells every audience at the state fair grounds she’s announcing her candidacy for the very first time at the show’s finale. Now that’s entertainment!

“I love her, I think she could win the nomination. ..but I think it would be a step down for her to run for president. It’s like saying Rush Limbaugh should run for president. She’s huge, she has enormous power. She sends out a Twitter on death panels and everyone’s talking about it. I think it would be crazy for her to run for president.”

Re: the tell-all book. Why would Joe McGinnis release an unauthorized copy of the book? Where did he get it and how? This doesn't make sense to me.
