President's approval ratings at 60%.

From Time Magazine:

President Barack Obama's approval rating has hit its highest point in two years — 60 percent — and more than half of Americans now say he deserves to be re-elected, according to an Associated Press-GfK poll taken after U.S. forces killed al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden.

In worrisome signs for Republicans, the president's standing improved not just on foreign policy but also on the economy, and independent Americans — a key voting bloc in the November 2012 presidential election — caused the overall uptick in support by sliding back to Obama after fleeing for much of the past two years.

Comfortable majorities of the public now call Obama a strong leader who will keep America safe. Nearly three-fourths — 73 percent — also now say they are confident that Obama can effectively handle terrorist threats. And he improved his standing on Afghanistan, Iraq and the United States' relationships with other countries.

Despite a sluggish recovery from the Great Recession, 52 percent of Americans now approve of Obama's stewardship of the economy, giving him his best rating on that issue since the early days of his presidency; 52 percent also now like how he's handling the nation's stubbornly high 9 percent unemployment.

I don't usually feel sorry for the Republicans, and this time is no exception.  They deserve to be shut out of the White House for the next twenty years.

Maybe by that time the Democrats will have fixed the problems in this country well enough that the next GOP President cannot screw everything up the first week they are in office.

Do NOT FEEL SORRY FOR THE Repugs. They will do EVERYTHING in their power, country be damned, to harm the country in order to try and seize power again, only to fuck us over one more time...all in the name of "prosperity, family values and the baby Jebus"...count on it!

  4. Well, we have to worry about taking over the House and not losing the Senate. That's where my dollars are going through ActBlue. I sent the Obama campaign as small contribution but I plan to hang tough and tell Obama solicitors that the REST of my donation money is going to House and Senate races.

Oh, and I'm half-way done with Dunn's book, and I have to say it's very well written.

I love how President Obama accurately assessed sarah would never get up to speed on the national level when she was selected as the VP candidate.

His assessment still holds true to this day.

    LMAO!

I was going to write what Phoebes wrote. The President is definitely going to win re-election. But it's the House and Senate we need to focus on. I have heard for 6 months that the Dems could lose the Senate. I want us to hang on to the Senate and take back the House.

If President Obama was white he would have an approval rating 10-15% higher. And I bet if they surveyed African-Americans President Obama would have a 90-95%approval rating.

Right, they had their turn with GW. Look where it got us.

The thing about our split country is that the pendulum swings back and forth very predictably.

This is our time to pull things in our direction, and help a lot of people in the process.

When did he say that? President Obama completely ignores the uneducated, racist, insufferable bitch.

President Obama is used to working 3 times harder than a white man and receiving 1/3 of the praise, recognition or approval.

It's a very slow process to reverse racism when the foundation of our Constitution is built on racism.

For all Sarah's noise making she is not impacting the overall view of the president. Her power is waning and will keep sliding downward as her own standing continues to lose ground. The best part is she did it all her self.

Sad conservative here - yeah, got to agree with these posts. Rabid racist evangelicals have mindlessly crushed the GOP into a bloody pulp. No adults. No intelligence. No vision. No compassion. No compromise. No tolerance. No way forward.

    Yeah, sucks big time.

Think of that - 60%! Yea!!!!

And, he has accomplished SO MUCH in spite of the fact the asshole Republicans in Congress have blocked him every step of the way and said horrid things about him to boot!

I hope to see the Republicans recalled and not re-elected in many of the states.

When you have people like Trump, Palin, Gingrich, and Boehner representing the R party...you just have to laugh.

I think this is great, and in reality the work done by this president is deserving of a 60% favorable rating, icing Bin Laden or not. That said it is worrisome to me because this will not last. In February, 1991 George Bush the Elder had an 89% favorable rating. 89% at almost the same point in his first term.

As the economy continues to improve and more jobs are created, I will feel more at ease, but this election is not a foregone conclusion, despite the pathetic bunch of losers who are vying for the Republican nomination.

    We have to keep fighting.

"They deserve to be shut out of the White House for the next twenty years."

Twenty ? ? ? Based on what they currently have "out there" for candidates, and based on the 8 yrs. of King George's reign, I think two or three hundred years would be ideal.

Pres Obama makes them all look like fools.

I'll bet Sarah read this headline and dented the fridge but good. Expect to hear soon about her "stalker," the "threats" made towards her daughters, some variety of Palin reality show and/or corrective jaw surgery.

They not only deserve to be shut out of the presidency, but also the Senate, the House, and also state-level positions. With the havoc the GOP governors are wreaking in their states, it would be suicidal for anyone to vote for them. Their policies are absolutely disastrous. I hope that our president continues to do good things, and to keep running circles around the Party of No Ideas, No Compassion, and No Clue.
