Bill Maher's New Rule is that the Left needs its own version of the "looney-toon" Teabaggers.

Palin propagandist Stephen Bannon was on the panel last night, and he spent much of the time representing the Teabagger's complete ignorance of how government, politics, and math work. He attempted to attack President Obama several times and to blame the financial crisis on the Democrats and his policy decisions.

The other guests, Joan Walsh, Dr. Neal deGrasse Tyson, and even chef Anthony Bourdain, kept having to correct the poor imbecile and explain to him exactly why he should have been paying attention in his Civics class instead of staring at the cheerleaders' pom poms.

By the way his celluloid embarrassment,  "The Undefeated," was ONLY mentioned one time.  And that was when Maher was introducing him to the audience.

Now why would Bannon go on a highly rated HBO program and NOT mention the Sarah Palin movie that supposedly he is so very proud of creating?

I'm no fan of the GOP but what kind of coward are you to remove your S&P downgrade story where you blame the tea baggers?

You talk about Palin scrubbing her posts.

    Hypocrite, heal thyself.

I thought the same thing. I am a huge fan of Bill and was very disappointed that you know who wasn't mentioned or the end of the run for the..ahem...movie.

Mercede Johnston, the opinionated sister of Bristol Palin's baby daddy Levi Johnston, believes Sarah Palin would have had a "mental breakdown" if she were elected president -- and says that Bristol told her brother, "I prayed you weren't the father," after she became pregnant.

Mercede posed nude for the September issue of Playboy and gave an equally revealing interview to George Gurley. Asked what kind of president Sarah Palin would be, she responded: "I think she'd have had a mental breakdown . . . As governor she quit on us. What does that say about her?" When Gurley asked what percentage of Wasilla residents "can't stand Palin," Mercede responded, "I would say 70 percent."

Mercede also claims the Palins are so polarizing in the small Alaskan town that she can't work. "It's hard to get a job in this town because of the Palins," she tells Playboy, adding, "People say, 'Oh, Mercede Johnston, I don't know if people are going to come in if she works here.' "

Regarding Bristol's relationship with Levi, she claims Bristol sent a text message to Levi after she found out she was expecting son Tripp that read, "Ever since the moment I found out I was pregnant, I prayed to God you weren't the father."

Mercede -- who had claimed on her blog that "Levi never liked [Bristol] to drink since it just made her more promiscuous" -- also told Gurley that Bristol, who's since become an advocate for teen abstinence, wanted to get pregnant: "Bristol's pregnancy wasn't . . . an accident. She and Levi planned it. They were trying to conceive for months."

Mercede also tells Playboy that Track Palin, Sarah's 22-year-old son who is an Army reservist, used drugs. She claims, "He did OxyContin and mostly cocaine. He didn't choose to go into the Army; he went there because his mom made him, to get him out of the way so when she was at the convention they wouldn't know he does drugs and would think he was a patriot." A Palin family rep declined to comment.

  5. He was afraid that one of the guests would point out that the panhandler in front of the theater took in more money than the movie.

Darn! I wanted to see that whole Bannon exchange.

Nonetheless, I still loved that ending segment.

  8. I was curious when Bannon was announced as a guest if Bill would comment on the Undefeated. I imagine Bannon was probably booked weeks ago, and not knowing how the movie would play, was hoping for a forum for praise. That didn't happen because the movie performed so poorly. Still, Bill could have pointed out how poorly the movie was received and did not. Maybe that was just courtesy? I wish he could have given him a difficult time, but it was a good show. The chef was very entertaining and educated. I appreciate the honesty I hear on the show, even to the detriment of the guests and host.

  9. We watched the Bill Maher show last night and I noticed that they didn't talk about the movie, too. But, when Bill Maher talks about books, movies, etc. that his panelists have done, it is always BM who introduces the subject (can you tell we watch him ALL the time?) BM did not bring it up - whether or not that was planned, who knows.

I have long advocated for a "liberal tea party" group - I would LOVE to sign on to that. I can be a nut job for the other side if that is what it takes.

Curious to know what you're going on about?

I don't recall seeing such a post on IM but I did see one on another blog that's listed to the left of IM's main page.

I didn't understand why Maher had Bannon on his show last night. I was more surprised that he didn't go after Palin and the "Unattended" that Bannon had put together.

    Seemed so weird!

  19. Bannon came across as a complete, talking-point-grilled flying monkey!! He had at least a gallon of Kool-Aide before the show...

I REALLY wanted to see Anthony Bourdain, who is known for his rather frank speech and attitude toward stupid people, come and stand directly next to Maher and point at Bannon and say "YOU sir, are an idiot", and sit down. That would have ended Bannon and probably Mama....

BUT, as it turns out, the segment with Bourdain was actually better than that and left Bannon looking like an old dish rag, hanging off a kitchen faucet in some dump deli in east LA...

I agree 100% with Maher... Dems need a never quit until I drive you into the sea army.... By Tuesday.

  21. Bill Maher no doubt realized that bringing up the Underseated would be pouring salt over a fresh and open wound.

In doing so, Maher displayed a morality and civility that is sadly lacking in the Palin camp.

    Hi Sarah! Welcome back.

Quick question, Why do you care?

I think we should expand on this "quick question" idea by asking YOU all of them, any of them, WE have had in front of us all these many years!

  24. Last night, Bannon reminded me of some kind of pathetic Steinbeck character. A wounded one who finally gets to hang out with the cool kids. The son of the town floozy who can't help ducking down when his new friends drive past. So, no, Bannon wouldn't bring up the "Unattended"or "Mama Grizzly."But I'm wondering why Bill didn't. Maybe too easy a target?

I'm not Sarah, I'm one of those who has been posting the "Quick Question" comments. There's been a few peopl;e who have expressed their dislike of them, and I was just trying to find out what other regular readers here thought.

I happen to agree with you that we should ask ALL the questions. I think it has to get under Sarah's "thick skin". However, I have received word from Gryphen to scale back on it, so I will.

    Thanks for your response.

The quick answer, Bannon is completely embarrassed that his wallet and whatever shred of hope he had took a huge hit.

I adore Bill Maher, and the idea of a right wing donner party is one I would find amusing and entertaining. The pendulum has swung too far to the right, and the pushback would have to be pretty powerful.

    @quick question:
I actually thought the "Quick Question: Where's Trig's Birth Certificate?" posts were pretty funny. I would usually get a chuckle out of it. Have to admit that once someone pointed it out (as being annoying)-especially as the first comment on almost all the threads-it did get kind of annoying. Sorry. Appreciate the effort and still see the point you were making, that if they are going to troll the blogs to see what IM was saying that they would ALWAYS see the Quick Question but agree it's a good idea to scale it back a bit.
The reality is, though, Granny Sarah could put all of this baby speculation to rest at a moment's notice if it were true that Trig is her biological child.
