If only every liberal gave the President the kind of support that Martin Sheen does not hesitate to provide.

In my personal opinion Sheen is dead right, and I am humbled by his unapologetic zeal for our President.

The President IS doing the best he can, but without reliable support from his base, and in the face of a Republican party that has taken a scorched earth approach to politics, what more can anybody expect from the man?

Look I am not an "Obama-bot" (As described in this Politico article), and I imagine that after Obama wins his second term I will unload some of the frustration that has built up these last three years in his direction.

But let us make NO mistake, we are in a war! And I for one refuse to help provide ammunition, or aid and comfort, to the enemy.

In the middle of a fire fight is the wrong time to walk up to your commander in chief and punch him in the nose. There is plenty of time to get that all medeival on his ass after the bullets stop flying.

For right now, I have chosen the side that I believe in, and that is the side I am committed to for the duration.  And by the way, it does not exactly hurt my dedication that the other side is completely wrong about virtually every single issue that I care deeply about.

All I know is that I will do everything that I can to ensure that Barack Obama gets four more years.

I hear you, Gryphen! I am of the same opinion, and it is very frustrating, because my hubby does not agree with this: "The President IS doing the best he can, but without reliable support from his base, and in the face of a Republican party that has taken a scorched earth approach to politics, what more can anybody expect from the man?"
Somehow, he thinks a President is omnipotent and can do whatever/whenever he wants to. He does not see that there is only so much one person can do. He blames him for choosing Geithner (sp?) et al, and thus blames him for simply everything that is wrong with our country nowadays.

I voted for president Obama, and I have not wavered one iota in my support for him, since he was elected. I support him fully, and I am mature enough to understand that no way one man, without any cooperation from the Repubs, and without any support from many Dems, correct 8 years of Bush recklessness, in such a short period of time.

The Repubs, as well as many Dems have been attacking President Obama, since right after he was sworn in.

I share your feelings. We were on the verge of an financial collapse when he took office. Despite Republican obstructionism, we've been in slow mend. He's doing the best he can. The policies that took us to the edge were Republican ones, and they'll do it again if one became President. T'ain't gonna happen. The nation's had a good look at who's actually for the people, and who isn't.

    OT...

Three members of my coven are going to take a trip to Mississippi this weekend. They will be attending the event where $arah will be speaking. The goal is to somehow get physical contact with $arah be it a handshake or maybe just a casual "brush against". This is not intended to cause her any harm, just to enact some spells on her that can be very revealing.

The women attending will not be troublemakers and they will not physically stand out by wearing ritual clothing or anything. They are professional businesswomen and even a politician. They are intelligent, beautiful people with a simple goal of "running into" $arah.

Oh wait... they are beautiful and INTELLIGENT... they may just stick out like a sore thumb.

Every woman better understand that this war has very deep meaning to us. It is about our reproductive freedom, and I am not just talking about abortion rights. Most of us have relied at some point in our lives on reliable birth control readily available to us. I for one, WILL NOT give control of my body up to the GOP!

N0, Gryph, they're too busy calling him a war monger, criminal, and Wall Street shill! Pretty surreal, that they'd throw an election to the Republicans/Teabaggers to spite President Obama.

They want him to fail - and the consequences will be that the influence they have now in the political arena (already seriously compromised along with Obama and the Dems) will be not just stymied but completely null and void!

Good thinking - nothing like sabotaging yourself! The all or nothing demands go nowhere - work with reality, people.

You must be kidding. Obama doesn't support his base AT ALL. Sure, he used liberals and progressives to get elected. After that, he started kissing Republican ass in his prolonged and misbegotten effort to be "bipartisan" and dissing US both himself and through his spokespeople.

Now? He's starting to suck up to us again and make pro-OWS noise because he sees which way the wind is blowing. It's all empty posturing. We've already seen the real man behind the curtain. The only use he has for us is when we open our pockets and purses.

Don't believe me? Take a look at who Obama's closest advisers are. They are bankers, CEO's, and lobbyists. They are people who get rich off the misery of others. They are NOT people like you or me.

It's sad to see progressives engage in delusions about Obama the way Repugs engaged in then about Bushy.

    WAKE UP!

Here's a comment on my fb newsfeed that pretty much sums up one example of how Dems HURT blacks.

"What a tool Jehmu Greene is! How are ID laws racist? What,Blacks can't handle carrying identification?! The Democratic Party really thinks we're that incompetent? This is just Exhibit A of how Dems underestimate Blacks, depict us as victims, and use the heck out of us. Their policies, mindsets, and history have hurt--not advanced--us."

Im gonna tell you all something I live in Central Illinois & listened to RW AM Radio for all of the Bush years cause there AIN'T NOTHING ELSE HERE! I drive alot in my job. No matter how mad they were at Bush they never never never never ever put him down like the circular firing squad of the LW continually bashes President Obama NEVER. And our LW bashes not on policy but on charactor (weak, sellout, etc). This is dumb dumb dumb dumb. Really really dumb. On TV we get 3 Rs on every talk show & 1 D. And if that one Ds is wishy washy in his support of the president or critical it is shooting us right in the reelection foot. I'm so sick of democrats. Let win this dang thing then fight w each other.

I support the President as well, and I support America.
Did you catch Shiny Lips on Greta? Her lip gloss was smeared across her top lip in a straight line, which shone every time she talked. She was lauding the very calm experienced multiply divorced Newt as a real role model for the rest of the candidates. She misspoke and said Michelle Obama when she meant Bachmann, and she said nothing of substance, just agreed with Greta and smiled her coy smile. Blech.

  25. Progressives need to stop bashing Pres. Obama and work toward increasing their ranks and getting progressives elected to Congress. Obama got a lot done...more than he gets credit for...that's changed the direction of the country.

We need to keep moving in the same direction. Staying home or voting third party is not an option if we want progress. A result similar to 2010 is not an option, not on the state or federal level.

I've always admired Sheen for his support of Democratic Principles and speaking out on social issues. Sean Penn and Susan Sarandon are high on my list as well.

You're singing to the choir as far as I'm concerned.

Considering the big picture, he's the only one qualified to earn my trust, support and my vote.

I love Martin Sheen; a man who lives by his word. It's ironic that he's from Dayton, Ohio where that POS McCain chose to announce his POS pick of a VP... Pathetic Palin.

It goes to show that there's still a lot of good people left in this world.

Sorry, Gryphen you ARE an Obamabot. As pathetic as the Palinbots.

Obama has been bought and paid for by Wall Street. Look at his record and you'll see he's not that different from Bush. In fact, much more hardcore on civil rights than Bush. (Btw, Obama said recently in a press conference that nobody in hte financial sector has done anything illegal, which is why his justice department hasn't bothered to investigate any malfeasance.)

It's Obama who has scorned liberals. So you know what, FUCK HIM. I will not vote for Obama even if Jesus Christ comes down to earth to personally endorse him. Martin Sheen is welcome to support whoever he wants.

Notice how every time you do one of these Obama cheer leading posts you get very few comments.

  31. 6:28, get Sirius/XM Satellite radio, you van get a mobile unit that plugs into any car, and you can listen to a variety of music, comedy, politics, weather and traffic. It works anywhere, very little advertising, and is my sanity, as I drive a lot too.

Right wing radio and tv dumb you down...you can feel the brain cells getting sucked out of your head if you listen too long.

    ...grumble, grumble

    OK. I suppose...

I'll support Obama again - but only because those on the other side are such snakes. BUT! God-DAMN it! I wish there were a politician that I could really vote for - rather than just voting against the other side.

...and the lame-ass excuse: "there's only so much one man can do" ?
Bullshit. We're talking the President of the United States here - there's a helluva LOT that "one man" can do - he just chooses not to.

But. Yeah. Consider the alternative. God. I can't imagine what life would be like if Grampa Walnuts and Crazy-ass Barbie had gotten elected: right now it's disappointing - but under those two it would be a nightmare.

  33. Amen! As in, I absolutely agree. I, too, have chosen my side in this war--and that doesn't mean that I haven't been disappointed, frustrated, and just plain mad at the man from time to time. Even as I feel all those things, I also realize that in many respects he's in an impossible position--and the fact that he's managed to achieve anything at all is pretty darned admirable. So yep, I'm voting Obama, even though I really, really don't like a lot of what's coming out of Washington.

  34. Hey Gryphen- Pres Obama is the lesser of 2 evils I feel. As another poster said, his record on civil rights is not good. I also feel like he sold out to the financial sector. And as a disabled person w/2 kids and a husband w/medical issues I feel he didn't push for single payer hard enough. Not that we would have gotten it, but if he got more public support we may have gotten more than we did. I was also upset he met w/Big Pharma. That being said, I think he's done a great job on diplomacy and foreign affairs (except 4 Palestine.) He's also renewed the effort to find high level Al Queda leaders. Which Bush decided was no longer a priority. Despite feeling that he didn't live up to his promises I will def be voting 4 him b/c I don't want my country to go down the toilet w/a Repub in charge.

Btw, your rhetoric about being in a war and reference to guns is troubling given how you have rightly criticized Palin for doing the same thing. My fam went to a local Rally 2 Restore Sanity and 100% agree the violent imagery needs 2 stop (IMHO.)
