President Obama's Jobs bill enjoys overwhelming support from Americans.

Policy proposals in the American Jobs Act and the level of support as determined by a CNN poll conducted on October 14-16 of this year.
Yep the bill is clearly supported by the vast number of Americans who are crying out for some progress to be made on the unemployment that is crippling this economy. So realizing this you would of course expect the Republicans to listen to their constituents and cast their vote accordingly. Right?

Well if you did you must be new to how Republicans play politics at the expense of the American people. Sorry to burst your balloon.

(Huge H/T to The Jed Report.)

  2. With issues so complex, rhetoric so misleading, I'd love to see simple breakdowns like this in the headlines, on the news broadcasts, highly visible and understandable to those who have neither the time interest or expertise to sort complex national issues themselves...most of us.

Watching the debates I wondered when, like Elizabeth Warren, someone would just speak simply, directly, rather than pontificating and/or babbling on.

Simple, direct speech comes from a clear orderly mind. Palin-speak, for instance, is a perfect example of a messy mind.

Thanks for the poll pies. Clear. Simple. Direct. Cool.

  3. Well I hope those people vote. The problem lies in that Repubs don't feel vulnerable in their own districts.

  4. And the solution is to vote those dickwads out of office. It's time for this so-called majority to step up and do what needs to be done. Throw out ALL of them, including the old guard like McConnell and Boehner. They have been ignoring the "will of the American people" blatantly for 3 years. If we end up with the same mean-ass idiots after the 2012 election, plus more of those way-the-wind-blows blue dogs, then I will have to conclude that the "American People" are just a bunch of lazy dumbfucks who couldn't find their asses with both hands. Vote goddamnit!!!!!

Any working class citizen who votes repub. needs a mental examination. They are for the wealthy, always have been always will be. Why would a filthy rich person like Romney want a stressful job that pays (chickenfeed to him)$400,000 a year? He looks like a mannequin from Macy's window, not a person who KNOWS what hard work is really like.

  6. OMG - "it" appeared on Greta last night to, get this, CRITIQUE the Debate and Contenders!

    HAHAHA!

I only read the breakdown at HuffPo (barf), but it seemed like "it" was particularly, spectacularly stoned.

    Excerpt:

The former Alaska governor, who declined to run for president in 2012, also praised Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) for her straightforwardness. "It's refreshing to hear somebody candid and blunt like Michelle Obama -- or Michele Bachmann -- I'm sorry -- tonight. She came right out and she said, no, she would not cut foreign aid to Israel because they are such a strong ally."

    ~~
    And, my FAVORITE!!!!!~

"However, she said the candidates were evasive: "It amazes me that the candidates so often get to escape actually answering the question. They get to spin and pivot and go off onto their sound bites that they want in the 10 seconds that they have to make a point," she said. As vice presidential candidate in 2008, Palin beat expectations in her one debate but performed poorly in several interviews.

"I think the hosts need to kind of dig a little bit more and come back to that candidate and say, No, that's not what I asked you. Here's what I asked you. Please answer it," she said.

    There are no. words.

    Thanks Gryphen,

For the easy to understand graphs.

Now if you could just figure out how to present the derivative/ bank/ wall street/ 'heist' for us in something we all can understand...

That would be amazing work. :)

ps. I don't understand Rick Perry's stance: it's not quite a wide stance... but it's not a regular stance either.

When the GOP pres candidates have the group shot at the end of each debate everyone looks OK except Perry: head back, chest thrown out, shoulders back & legs apart..

It's beyond me as a female to interpret. Any ideas?

  9. I love it when you present the good news, too. There is actually a fair amount of it, in terms of Pres Obama pulling us out of the mire of the last years (even though the Repugs are kicking and screaming all the way). Thank you.

I just discovered this govt web site that aims to tell us how the recovery is going: http://www.recovery.gov/

In this part of that site, if you click on your state and zoom in, you can see where the stimulus money went in terms of your own neighborhood or other area of interest.

I used to write Murkowski (et al) and Young all the time. But it's like talking to a brick wall. They say they are all about fiscal responsibility and the good for "all" Alaskans, yet their actions are anything but. At least Don is clear about only "serving those who voted for him", Lisa at least pretended she was unshackling herself from the GOP when she went rogue on them and won her write-in campaign against Miller. Independent much Lisa? Uh, not very.

And Begich. Some days he pretends he's a democrat, but most days he just a nice shade of Blue.

Information like this never shows up on the "fair and balanced" network.

I'm thinking they need to pay for ad time on reruns of "Hee Haw" in order to get such facts out to the masses.

I don't remember who posted this first, or where I got it from, but this is what I sent my Freshman Repub congresscritter:

What would the American Jobs Act have accomplished?

The bill would have reduced the deficit by $6 billion over ten years, according to the Congressional Budget Office. The Republicans filibustered deficit reduction.

The bill would have created nearly two million new jobs. The Republicans filibustered the creation of two million new jobs.

The bill would have increased the gross domestic product (GDP) by two points. The Republicans filibustered increasing the GDP.

The bill would have cut taxes for 98 percent of businesses. The Republicans filibustered a tax cut for businesses.

The bill would have offered a tax credit for military veterans returning from war. The Republicans filibustered a tax credit for the troops.

The bill would have reduced unemployment by a full percentage point. The Republicans filibustered a reduction in unemployment.

The bill would have been paid for by a 5.6 percent surtax on millionaires -- a surtax that, again, a majority of Republican voters support. The Republicans filibustered paying for the bill.

So spare me your corporate masters' talking points.

When do we shift the narrative from GOP fantasy to objective reality? President Obama isn't failing to implement his agenda because of his alleged incompetence but because of the cynical, vicious and unrelenting sabotage by treasonous members of the opposition party.

Thanks Amy1, for those wonderful links.

Pretty straightforward, but the only one that interests republicans is the last one.

Romney is an insult to Manequins.

What a national embarrassment the GOP "debates" have become.

And we have the Republican Obstructionist Congress and the "Republican Debates" accomplishing what?
