Republicans like Rick Perry don't see what should be a career ending gaffe as a problem, they see it as an opportunity to raise money!

Apparently after Perry suffered his incredible "Oops" gaffe at the GOP debate he tweeted the following:

Really glad I wore my boots 2nite because I stepped in it out there. I did still name 2 agencies to eliminate. Obama has never done that!

And instead of deciding that he needed to pack up his campaign and scoot his loser ass back to Texas with his tail firmly between his legs, he has instead decided to use it to ask for more money. Because why not? After all how intelligent can the people who support him BE anyway?

Courtesy of the Huffington Post:

Friend & Supporter,

We've all had human moments.

President Obama is still trying to find all 57 states. Ronald Reagan got lost somewhere on the Pacific Highway in an answer to a debate question. Gerald Ford ate a tamale without removing the husk. And tonight Rick Perry forgot the third agency he wants to eliminate. Just goes to show there are too damn many federal agencies.

The governor said it best afterwards: "I'm glad I had my boots on, because I sure stepped in it tonight." While the media froths over this all too human moment, we thought we would take this opportunity to ask your help in doing something much more constructive: write us to let us know what federal agency you would most like to forget.

Is it the EPA and its job-killing zealots? The NLRB and its czar-like dictates? The edu-crats at the Department of Education who aim to control your local curriculum?

Send your answer to forgetmenot@rickperry.org, and if you are on twitter join us in using a new twitter hashtag: #forgetmenot. And, if you could, throw in a $5 contribution for every agency you would like to forget. We hope you have a long list. And we promise we will write down every last idea. So we don't forget.

Still standing in our Boots,

Team Perry

You know those of us who live in Alaska pride ourselves on living in a bigger, more oil rich, more dangerous state than Texans do.  But I have to admit that Rick Perry is sporting is one ginormous set of balls!

But before we give Perry TOO much credit, remember that this idea of raising money after having a huge, potentially career ending mistake made public was really pioneered by Herman Cain just last week.

Courtesy of the Business Insider:

Despite the sexual harassment allegations that have ensnared his campaign, businessman Herman Cain is posting massive fundraising numbers.

In the 41 days since October 1st, Cain has raised $9.4 million, his campaign announced. He raised just $4.7 million in the four months prior.

Seriously? WTF is wrong with these people?

Okay, am I crazy or is it possible that Republican candidates actually make unbelievably stupid mistakes, or engage in unethical behaviors, in order to convince their supporters to give them more money? And if that is true, exactly what kind of people are these Republicans anyway?

I guess this dumb fuck is going to make money like the other dumb fuck retard from Alaska who made money on her ignorance.

Just in case you do not understand, that's you I'm talking about Sarah Palin.

Only conservatives in over their head are allowed 'human moments' that includes jumping from college to college, five times in six years, not knowing what the Bush Doctrine is, what the First Amendment means, not knowing just what exactly, a Vice President does every day, not knowing that Presidents can't sign Executive Orders changing the Constitution, being a Bush-league politician in a larger pond and serial sexual harassers and fellow-citizen thug.

Conservatives couldn't throw more money at Cain fast enough for pulling the Palin tactic of denying everything while muddying the dubious back-story. People will line up to throw money at Perry also too.

McCain/Palin set the bar, and it is not exceptional, it is low and gets lower.

  3. It sounds like rick perry just stepped in a mess.
HE MADE the mess, he didn't just step in it and if the republicans are too stupid to see that, well then, they are just as stupid as perry.

Gryphen: "Okay, am I crazy or is it possible that Republican candidates actually make unbelievably stupid mistakes, or engage in unethical behaviors, in order to convince their supporters to give them more money?"

They're certainly shrewd enough to know that if there is one thing that will get their supporters to write a check, it's the perception that the candidate - and by extension, the supporters - are being "victimized" by the media.

Look how rich it made Sarah Palin.

  5. With the Cain campaign's track record on lying, isn't it possible that they haven't raised that much money in the last week? Nobody will know until January when they file their reports and by then most people will have forgotten. They could be thinking "if we say we're taking in all that money, people will forget about the accusations, think we're still popular and send us money". Just saying...

Rick Perry rode proudly on his white horse to the GOP presidential stage only to look like a baffoon like Donald Trump, Sarah Palin, "Herb" Cain and the others.

But nobody was more unqualified than Alaska's crooked ignorant Sarah Palin.

    Why is Palin so quiet?

Is she having second thoughts about running?

How can Sarah Palin have second thoughts when she didn't even have a first thought?

Gryphen, that's the problem with liberal elitists like you: always holding elected officials to high intellectual and moral standards.

If you'd loosen your hippie head-band a little bit you'd realize that this nation is full to the rafters with imbeciles, morons, fools, ignorami, idiots, cretins, half-wits and morans without a brian. Who will represent them? Who?

In your distorted world all the leaders are smart, articulate and intellectually curious like your precious Barack HUSSAIN Obama. Well, Mister Blister, that ain't the world I live in!

Can't you see that a doofus like Rick Perry is distinctly prepared to represent the bottom 50% of the IQ curve who have drifted without a leader they can relate to since 2009 when a man left office almost as stupid as Perry and who gave them hope, gibberish, global economic collapse, two murderously unnecessary multi-trillion dollar wars and a shit-eating grin?

So get off your high horse and stop fighting the stupid! Remember this well: you may stop Rick Perry with your snarky comments, gotcha videos and cruel Photoshoppery (thanks, AzureGhost and Knishes!) but the GOP has THOUSANDS of arrogant, incompetent, greedy politicians like Rick Perry waiting their turn to lead this country and you better believe they won't ever give up!

  9. I'm curious why the headlines aren't about 'the likely GOP candidate' Romney's statement that if he becomes President he WILL attack Iran. !!! A new war we don't want and can't afford against a Muslim nation that's on the verge of nuclear capability. Why isn't this a total deal-changer to everyone about Romney? It seems that statement alone would write him off the majority of American's list of sane and responsible persons.

Ya' know, why not? "Throw money at it" is the answer to all of the questions in their personal lives. Why can't it work for them in politics, too?

The GOP is rotted to the core.

The more deviance someone shows or incompetence--the more right wing republicans are right there with them. They never learned the lesson of incompetence from Bush. They never learned their "family values" hypocrisy from Vitter, Gingrich or their numerous pols with serious ethical and moral breaches they still vote for.

They are running on reaction--which will destroy them in the end. They think anyone liberals or independents laugh at should be their savior. Which of course makes them look like idiots and assholes.
And let's face it--- idiots and assholes are who they want to vote for anyway.

It makes perfect sense. They think things like this make them "human".

...Because I guess to a Republican, "humans" are incompetent know-nothings.

Considering how many Repubs I've heard say "I like Bush because he's someone I could have a beer with", or "I like Palin because she's good people", maybe they're not entirely wrong?

Seeing Bill Clinton on The Daily Show once again opened my eyes to what competent looks like. Dubya was "the decider" because nodding his head was about all he was capable of...

Herman Cain’s campaign staff say they’ve been raising money hand over fist in recent weeks, especially since his sexual harassment scandal broke. But don’t be deceived: a wave of donations is hardly a sign things are turning around.

Since October 1, staff say they’ve raised $9 million and they’ve bragged about huge one-day hauls throughout the recent media frenzy. Aides told Bloomberg News that $1.6 million came in the five days after the scandal broke alone. Given that only Mitt Romney and Rick Perry have cracked the $10 million mark for an entire quarterly take so far, that’s some serious change.

“The day of the firestorm of these accusations, we had the highest fundraising day online in the history of this campaign and it has not stopped,” Cain told Jimmy Kimmel this week. “The American people are saying ‘we are sick of gutter politics and it is not going to work’ and they’ve basically said they’re sick of it with their money.”

But if a widely criticized anti-establishment candidate putting up huge grassroots fundraising figures sounds familiar, it’s because it is. And these stories often don’t have a happy ending.

The gop has been pandering to the lowest common denominator for quite a while now. They've made an art form of manipulating the stupid and misinformed and resonating with the "lizard brain." They deal in currencies of racism, xenophobia, fear, "patriotism" (American exceptionalism), greed and snark. They are loath to accept science that goes against their views. They take advantage of religion by encouraging people to politicize their beliefs. The fundie/bagtards have pulled the gop so far to the right that Reagan would not be considered a true republican anymore. M hope is that the complete lack of viable candidates in the gop field this election cycle is a symptom of the decline of the party.

oh man, not the 57 states thing again. Look at the video. Candidate Obama starts to say, "we're going to all fif-----" and an aide evidently corrects him from off camera that they've only been to forty-seven states (and he did not campaign in Alaska or HI- and) one other of the continental US states. He correct it mid word to 47.
No media ever, ever brought that up - that it wasn't a gaffe in knowing how may states, but a candidates gaffe with remembering his very busy itinerary.

    HUGE difference.

Perry's not just an asshole, but a lying asshole.

A fool and his money is soon parted and there's a sucker born every day.

It's pretty pathetic that Sarah raised the art of victimhood to a ponzi scheme, the same people who donated to her are the ones blaming it on the liberal media bias, east coast eliteism, and the democrat machine.

    off topic, but funny.

While in line at the self serve aisle, there was a proud teabagger and his toothless wife yakking about how wonderful Fox news is. "They have a Greta AND a Gretchen, now what are the chances of THAT happening? And everyone can relate to them! The lefties have people who talk hoity toity and confuse people, I mean, they can't hold a candle to Governor Palin and the ratings clearly show that. 11/11/11 is a sign from God because Jesus lived to be 33, and if you add 11 plus 11 plus 11, you get 33!!!!!! Track is a veteran and it's veterans day, She's definately goint to change her mind, catch Obama off guard, and she'll be president. I just know it! They made their purchases and used their socialist government funded accssess cards. (I'm not knocking people who use this service, just showing their hypocricy)

I was just thinking about a missed opportunity for P.Rick. He wears those ridiculous giant cuffs on his cowboy shirts which allow plenty of room for notes to help him out during a debate. Hell, even Stupid Sarah know when to use a crib sheet.

He had absolutely no choice but to joke about his latest meltdown and his legacy will be the title: WORST DEBATER EVER. Will Little Rickie even show up at the next debate? Just a footnote: he makes my skin crawl!!! Also, why did he reference how handsome Willard smiling at him at the debate made him nervous? What straight man says that? Just saying...

Interesting story about the News International spying and propaganda operation. James Murdoch was in the hot seat again at another hearing.

    www.guardian.co.uk/media/2011/nov/10/james-murdoch-phone-hacking-myler-crone

Lots of revelations. MP=Member of Parliament.

    • An MP claimed that all members of the committee had been placed under surveillance by News International.

    • Murdoch was compared to a mafia boss who presided over a culture of "omerta".

More details. Murdoch apologizes for spying on MPs and claims he didn't know about it!:

Watson also accused Murdoch of overseeing a mafia-style organisation obeying a code of "omerta", an allegation Murdoch described as "offensive". Tory MP Louise Mensch went on to make the remarkable claim that all the committee members had at one time been under surveillance by NI. Murdoch, meanwhile, refused to rule out closing the Sun if it could be shown hacking had taken place.

He apologised to MPs for the company's decision to use a private investigator to place MPs under surveillance – which he said he learned about a few weeks ago – and said that was "just not acceptable".

You know something’s become a meme when even unrelated industries start mocking it. This happened to John McCain during the 2008 election campaign, when his disastrous line, “The fundamentals of our economy are strong” took off so much it even made its way into a Wendy’s commercial.

Now the same is happening for Rick Perry’s “oops” moment.

Users of the iPhone Yelp app have recently discovered the following “update” message:

It's not like it's all the fault of the candidates. Just like with the constant media treatment of Palin as a viable political commentator long after her incompetence and poor character were obvious, the media is complicit in this. And it shows that our nation has hit a new low. Nothing is serious. Nothing means anything. Nothing really matters and there are no consequences. It's all entertainment, and if it seems to be a horror flick, well, so what, we like those too.

I think I can answer that. You see, the people in that voting block are always in favor of war, never get sick of killing, and are all for bringing on the apocalypse anyway.

If he didn't think they'd like it, he wouldn't say it.
