Mitt Romney learns that you cannot judge a scruffy Vietnam vet by his cover. Because it just might be hiding "teh gay."

video platformvideo managementvideo solutionsvideo player Clearly Romney thought he was safe talking with a Vietnam vet, wearing red flannel and sporting grey hair. But in fact he once again demonstrated his incredible lack of intuition and made the mistake of sitting down with somebody he certainly did NOT want to have a conversation with on camera.

Watch the transformation of Romney's face as Bob Garen confronts him on his opinion of gay marriage. Romney's face literally goes ashen as he realizes he is trapped, and that there is nothing he can do to extricate himself without looking like he was freaked out by the exchange.

Gotta love it!

  1. Gryph, you have to change the title of this post. He's not an Ex Vietnam vet, he IS a Vietnam vet. And very well spoken. For his sake, I hope the only way Romney sees the inside of the White House is on TV.

So funny, Mittens thought he was saying what the Vietnam Vet wanted to hear. Don't judge a book by it's cover, Mittens, you flip flopping, transparent asshole!

    Good for Bob Green.

I am also always astounded by the hypocrisy of Mitt Romney, who wants to become the president of the United States, equates his two years as a Mormon missionary in France with the military service of a soldier on the ground in Vietnam.

Like all of the other Republican potentials, Romney is an idiot.

    Gryphen:

Here is something you should re-visit and bring attention to - Romney & Palin's 2006 co-ordinated 'illegal' association when she ran as Gov.

Every time I see Mitt, I think of the link between him and Palin, as set out in the various books published this year.

More specifically the illegal activity when Palin was campaigning for Governor.

In 2006, Romney headed the Republican Governor's Association and poured $$$ into her campaign. Palin's campaign and the RGA illegally coordinated on one of the ads – an allegation that tarnished the clean-government platform on which she was running.

"...allowed the RGA to both shoot footage of her with her knowledge and air that footage. "

OMG that is AWESOME! Love the part after Mitt is gone - "Why do you feel so passionately about this?", the reporter asked the grizzled vet. "Because I'm GAY!" he replied. I'd bet Mittens $10K, he didn't see this one coming. And notice how his handlers had to step in and break up the conversation because they had to go to Fox.

Only thing I disagree with him on is when he said Mitt can 'go back to Massachusetts' No thanks, we don't want him here!

  9. Romney is not presidential material! He doesn't know how to represent all the people. Palin is as bad in her foolish ideology.
Their small minded & fearful beliefs are a threat to a democratic way of life that is cherished in America.
Equal rights is just what it says.
Between the mean & fearful thinking and the greed for money & power these people show, they are far from any teachings of Jesus.

Umm.. no, Romney maintains the "smug" throughout their conversation.

The Vietnam vet just lets him ride that smug train, because he is too polite to let Mittens get both barrels in the face in a sit-down.

Only AFTERWARDS do you find out he is gay, and wants the same benefits for his loved one (another male) that heterosexual men ROUTINELY EXPECT for their surviving spouses.

Priceless! I do wonder how many of their precious 'founding fathers' were not only screwing around with the female slaves, but the male scribes, etc. Maybe we should ask 'historian Newt.'

  12. Anonymous8:47 AM

Any person who is against equal rights for gays is a traitor and unAmerican. It's simple. The concept that was CLEARLY delineated in our founding documents expresses a simple core: ALL Americans are equal. We ALL get the same freedoms, rights and opportunities.

Trying to claim vague theories like "it was so obvious that they didn't need to specify" is simply lawyering and contrary to the spirit of the documents.

The idea is that the giovernment does not have the power to enforce one belief system over another especially if that belief system infringes the rights of others.

It's all so damn simple, yet the Republicants continue to blaze ahead with their anti-American agenda, demonizing everyone else along the way.

  13. WOW! That was even better on video than reading the account they posted on HP!! Thanks for posting this Gryphen!

"Milt" looked like he pooped in his pants when it dawned on him that Bob ask him a very detailed question on Gay marriage...no flip flopping allowed for ole "Milt"...he just flopped!

Oh I feel sorry for his staff...especially the one who reported back to him that Bob was Gay! And I swear it looked like "Milt" wiped his hand on his pants leg after shaking their hands!!

Bob said...."HE'S NOT GOING TO BE MY PRESIDENT!"...LMAO!!

Romney is too stupid to realize his hate doesn't sell!

Wait until Romney sits down to chat with some harmless old lady (like me) and finds himself nailed for his mistreatment of animals.

Mitt is just beginning to taste what the average person can do to him in the internet world. Every conversation on the campaign trail is grist for the viral video mill.

(And kudos to that vet. Vietnam was a hard school, but the vets are as tough as they come.)

  16. Superb fellow! Between Ann Romney's profession of love and goodness of her husband, and this interview with a REAL vet - not someone who was bicycling through France on his Mormon mission - I sure hope we've seen the last of Mitt Romney.

I dislike Romney, not because I am a progressive Democrat, but because he doesn't seem to have one shred of humanity.

It's that ever-present condescending arrogance that tics me off with Romney. He never served in the military, nor has his coddled sons, yet he stands there judging another human being. He needs to take himself back to Massachusetts or one of his other 10 houses and shut his trap.

  22. Willard's response shows he is no match for President Obama in a debate. Willard countered that when the Constitution was written marriage was between a man and a woman. The Constitution says nothing about marriage, but it did say that slaves were 3/5 of a person. Willard, my friend, society has changed since 1789.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Anonymous9:28 AM

Romney said it was pretty clear in the Constitution that marriage was between a man and a woman - sorry Mitt there is absolutely zero reference in the Constitution about marriage. How can you be so dumb about the very document you are trying to get elected to defend? Another question for Romney, when you lose this election will you please stop running for an office, any office, you've been campaigning since 1995.

  24. Excellent! What a great post to wake up to. Key words for homophobes like Mittens, "Wake up!"

My step brother was one of the first AIDS deaths in the 1980's and he was a closeted Gay Mormon who even went on a "Mission" for the cult we were raised in. I left in my teens because of this "Church's" blatant racism. Also, I never bought the "I'll get my own planet to rule and reign over" if:
    1) I'm a Man
    2) I just pay enough tithing
    3) I wear magic underwear
    4) I shut up and do what the "Bishop" and other leaders tell me
    5) I'm a homophobic racist
    6) I attend the "Temple" (of Doom)
    7) I'm baptized for dead people -- even Jewish Holocaust victims -- so they can also join the cult after they die (I was made to do this when I was just 12-years-old. Talk about child abuse! Creepy, eh?)

So thanks, Gryphen, for all you do to shine Light (ala Gandalf riding to Helm's Deep at Dawn) on this very-dark corner of Republican life in the 21st century. And I also salute this brave Vet who stood up for Gays everywhere. THAT, Mitt, is a REAL American!

Peace, All. OBAMA cares. Let's give him a Landslide next year!

This is just one of many incidents which show how clueless and out of touch Willard is with so many Americans. It seems lately like everything he touches turns into
doo-doo. It's laughable that anyone thinks this man "looks presidential," because he continues to prove he is every bit as unpresidential as the rest of the GOP clowns running for the nomination. Just because he SEEMS sane by comparison doesn't mean he IS sane. He may not be a raving lunatic or a religious nut, but he espouses exactly the same morally bankrupt policies that have proven not to work.

So Mitt misses again. Pretend to know exactly what the writers of the Constitution, who as far as I know, never even MENTIONED marriage, let alone Jesus Christ, had in mind. Plus they all had affairs with their slaves, and I just bet one or more was gay...Ben Franklin, anyone? MYOB was their motto...Mitt and the GOP should wise up.

Mittens is wrong again. The Constitution and the Bill of Rights make absolutely nothing clear about excluding a group of citizens for their rights.

Phrases like "all men are created equal", and "unalienable rights" come to mind.

    But, nothing about "teh gay".

Romney indicated that marriage is a religious institution. If so, wouldn't regulation be a conflict of church and state? Just because his religion states that, wouldn't that be imposed his religious views on others? What other religious views would he use as law?

I'm just astounded that these men are the same age. Mitt must have access to some super secret Morman fountain of youth!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Anonymous12:45 PM

Well, our friend Bob just blew that old gay stereotype to smithereens, right in Mitten's face!

If I recall from my elementary school days, at the time the Constitution was written, only white male landowners could vote, woman and anyone of color were considered second-class citizens (or less), slavery was an institution, children were permitted to be sent to work with no restrictions, businesses could pollute the air, land and water with impunity, and the US Air Force was not yet a spark of an idea in someone's imagination. And that's why the brilliant minds who wrote it established a procedure for making amendments, because they knew the world would change in time and the country's laws would need to change as well. Mitt clearly never got that memo!

And the best line of the whole video? "What the hell difference does it make?" Short, to the point, and completely accurate. Thank you, Bob!
