95% - Drop in news coverage of Sarah Palin from May to December 2011
Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, who has repeatedly proven her ability to generate media attention over the past few years, has virtually disappeared from the headlines since her October 5 announcement that she would not seek the presidency in 2012.
In the early stages of the 2012 campaign—from May through early October—Palin ranked No. 4 in the competition for news coverage among the Republican presidential hopefuls even though she had not entered the race and many observers largely discounted the possibility. In that period, only Michele Bachmann, Mitt Romney and Rick Perry were the subject of more news coverage.
A good chunk of that campaign-related coverage came in May and June, when Palin was the No. 2 and No. 3 Republican newsmaker respectively, registering as a dominant figure in 12% of the campaign stories in each month. (To be a dominant newsmaker, someone must be featured in at least 50% of a story.
Her coverage dropped in July (a dominant newsmaker in 3% of the stories), August (5%), and September (3%), but she was still capable of generating headlines, most particularly when she would hint about running for the White House. But in the two months since Palin announced she would not seek the presidency, coverage of her has almost vanished. In both October and November, she was a dominant newsmaker in only 1% of the campaign stories.
This is usually where I would add some smart ass comment about "Couldn't happen to a nicer sociopath" or"Interest in Palin is falling off faster than clumps of her hair." But to be honest this is such wonderful news I think I will just let it say everything it needs to with no help from me.

The way the media is and has covered Gingrich, Perry, Cain and Bachman for the primary - Sarah Palin would have been mincemeat. That is the only reason she decided not to run in the primary - she could never have held up to the scrutiny and the Repubs would have been after her just as they are Gingrich and his horrid past.

All Sarah Palin wants to do is to be corralled by everyone she meets and to have private, nationally televised, conversations with Sean Hannity. She wants to spend time on the DL with her DH and her DS, DDs, and DGs.
She's relieved to no longer have to take family vacations in a huge bus with her face on the side or to have people pay her 100k to read a few words off her hands.
Just like Bristol is relieved that the reality tv show she was supposed to do is getting the axe.
Leave the Palins alone. They are a quiet, private, unassuming family who never seek out the spotlight or do national interviews or invite cameras into their homes or put their most intimate personal details into books with their pictures on the covers.

The second time she attacked me at work, I found that I could hate her, and it became apparent I wasn't the only one who was starting to see through her.
The trilogy of books this year, documenting acts of egregious behaviors, politics of personal destruction, unflagging devotion to the Sarah brand, the illegal trust, the stealing of state equipment given to friends of Kristan Cole, the misuse of state funds, and on and on and on have definitely served to make me hate the person of Sarah Palin.
It is wonderful to see how horrible she looks in the rat-wig pulled on backwards, the grease-stained tickle-me-muppet bathrobe looking like a meth-addict's dream skank.
The fact that her husband was caught setting up a young woman as a prostitute for his militia friends, who came into infamy of their own, as well as the shame of having her grandchild named after the woman he cheated with, is just delicious.
I am so happy to see her fall, and not just her, but the dreams of all those who thought she was their savior, that she would actually be the leader for the return of their messiah.

I didn't order it from Amazon because I wanted to purchase it the day it came out. Unfortunately, our local book store was Borders and they had closed down. I've gone to Fred Meyer, two different Costos and other places, and still can't find it.
Our Fred Meyer store has all of Sarah's books, Frank Bailey's book and even Bristols. Dick Cheney's book is all over the place.

Just about done with Joe McGinniss' book on $arah, and it's been really fascinating reading
ReplyDeleteI think I finally figured out why she is so is narcissistic and out for blood :
1) Chuck was a mean guy, a ruthless competitor, and since she was a middle child, she got even less attention. He wasn't very nice to his daughters in many respects.
$arah had to be competitive to survive, and it made her vindictive.
2) Sally got lost in the Assembly of God when her kids really needed her, so she set the tone as an absentee mother. We've seen some of that echoed in the way Bristol, Willow, and the rest were left to fend for themselves
3) $arah was not as attractive as her sisters, but once she got into the evangelical church life, she was accepted and that still runs deep in her life as a foundational element.
It was the compensating factor in her formative years, so of course it's her bedrock
4) Once she got elected Mayor , she got power, which just fed the "I'll show'em" attitude, and she instantly went for gratification by buying a new car and redecorating at Wasilla taxpayer expense.
5) When she got launched into the stratosphere as VP candidate, life had never seemed so rich, sucking up the adulation and becoming a pop star.
The rest is history, but she never has forgotten the long list of enemies, how to be vindictive, and
the wound of losing out to progressives is still festering.
I know this type of woman, and she's not done causing huge trouble for anyone who isn't on her side of any issue.
If Babygate or the other Gates ever get blown open and the truth comes out, she's going to turn purple with rage and will have to strike back somehow..

I sure don't think Bristol taking every opportunity to sell photos in People Magazine & other such rags is living on the DL. Neither is going around the country trying to lecture teens to do what she is doing. Much less going on pregnant teen show, her mother's reality show, making a commercial with the Jersey dude, going on DWTS on TV for weeks, going on publicity tours & talk-shows, tv, dragging her baby to malls to sign books to short lines, dissing people in her book publicly, and now trying to make a reality show in Calif. She's really trying hard to make $$ somehow being a celebrity - head transplant and all. Now I certainly don't see how Bristol Hollywood is trying to live on the DOWNLOW by selling herself and pimping her baby for TV cash in Hollywood.

Here is a very disturbing excerpt:
October 24, 2010: We’ve arrived – or I have. Half my film crew have been arrested and deported. Everything is going fine at Seattle airport until they find out we are doing a film about Sarah Palin. The authorities go mad. They search our bags and detain my two researchers.
Sarah, 22, is subjected to a urine test against her wishes – just in case she is pregnant and tries to get citizenship by giving birth on US soil. Her colleague Mark is spreadeagled against the wall and given a rectal search before being handcuffed. The 25-year-old spends the night on a filthy floor littered with cigarette butts. They are both sent back to England, supposedly because they don’t have the right visas.
Wow, I can't believe this happened in Seattle! I could see it happening in Alaska, but Seattle?!
I want to know how Sarah has this kind of power. This is outrageous!

The funniest thing is that even her paid trolls can only be bothered to make a few posts in the span of about ten minutes. Then they lose interest (someone waves something sparkly in front of them, maybe) and they go away.
ReplyDeleteGinger: sadly, a book that's been out a couple of months won't be available at the big box stores, since they stock a quickly moving number of current best-sellers.
ReplyDeleteAnd, true to their corporate masters, they stock a huge number of right-wing junk. I doubt McGinniss ever even made it to their shelves in September.
Your best bet is to go to amazon to get a new or slightly used copy from someone who's already read and enjoyed the book.
Tip: while you're in the book aisle at WalMart, Costco and the other right-wing stores, spend a few moments to take a Steve Jobs biography, a Bill Clinton book, or even a Sue Grafton mystery and place a copy in front of every Dick Cheney, Glenn Beck or Michelle Bachmann book on display. Just a touch of consumer insurrection to brighten your day, and perhaps sell a few sane volumes to the casual shoppers. Every little bit helps.
Ginger: another way to read Joe McGinniss's book is to ask your public library to buy a copy for all its citizens to read. If you fail there, see if you can borrow it through interlibrary loan. These purveyors of public books should know there is an audience for The Rogue.

ReplyDeleteTripp will officially be 3 at the end of the month. He may be one of those kids who toilet-train late- they exist. Parents are discouraged from vigorously toilet-training at an early age. It's not unusual for a nearly-three-year-old boy to be not trained yet. Sorry. Yes, I fully believe that everyone here had all children in their life trained by 18 months, so you don't need to write and tell me. As for the pacifier, we don't know that he "always" has one in his mouth- we've seen a picture of him with one. He may have had a meltdown and needed comforting, or something like that.
Now, it could easily be that Bristol is a lazy mom, made no effort to train the child and shoves a beer-dipped paci in his mouth whenever she wants to shut him up- where would she ever have a chance to learn parenting skills? I'm just pointing out that we don't know and the things you are talking about may have a completely innocent explanation.
Of all the lies Sarah has told, her lie about how devoted Bristol is to babies and how she wanted her mother to rent her one for her birthday when she was like six or something, strikes me as the worst. Because to me it sounds like a lie Sarah told herself to justify leaving her kids and raise themselves. "Bristol's old enough- she likes babies!" And that meant Sarah didn't actually have to suck up and face responsibility.
All through her life, she's had people trying to do stuff for her so she doesn't have to take responsibility.

Living on the "Downlow" is something that's been found in various cultures probably around the world. I was just pointing out for reference purposes the article from the "Washington Post" a few years back that explored Black men in the District of Columbia that were living the life, and how it was affecting their families.
But it is indeed happening in many areas of the world. Thanks for getting me to redress that fact and not just putting it all on Black men.
Clarification is always needed when discussing such a topic, and I appreciate your insight. That's what "critical thinking" does, gets us to rationally discuss something and help each other with the facts.
I know this post is old but I just wanted to share that "Undefeated" (I think I need a new dictionary) is being streamed on Netflix. I almost choked when I saw it as a suggestion but still couldn't bring myself to load it.
