A 14-year-old girl was shot at an east Colorado Springs home early Monday morning, according to police.
She was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.
And then later in the day:
Colorado Springs police are now telling FOX21 News that the 14 year old girl shot this morning has died.
According to police, the girls stepfather shot her, thinking it was a home invasion. Police say she may have been sneaking back into her house.
You know when kids tell each other that their "parents will kill them for sneaking out" they are not being literal.
But then again I assume they don't expect their parent to fire indiscriminately in their direction when they try to sneak back into the house.
Remember guns don't kill people, bullets fired by the frightened people holding the guns kill people.
Even their own people.
WTF is wrong with Colorado? Columbine, Aurora, Arapahoe High School now this.

DeleteAlmost happened to me when I arrived home one day early from conference. I used the key to get in, went upstairs and was confronted with a gun. Luckily it wasn't used. But it could have been.... We BOTH practically had a heart attack.

His whole "story" sounds suspicious. I hope it's investigated thoroughly and not assumed that it was a "stand your ground" issue and just a tragedy by an unhinged gun owner. It may have been deliberate - shooting his14 year old stepchild.
ReplyDeleteNo matter the motive, he deserves time in prison. Unless he's white and well off, apparently those who suffer from affluenza have an army if advocates out there arguing for leniency and rehabilitation.
