Florida lawmaker: Common Core will turn your children gay. Wait, what?

Courtesy of Think Progress:

Common Core may not be a well-intentioned set of improved educational standards, as supporters would have you believe, but instead a trojan horse designed to turn every schoolchild in Florida, if not America, gay.

This ominous warning came at an anti-Common Core event in March courtesy of Florida State Rep. Charles Van Zant (R). Speaking at the “Operation Education Conference” in Orlando, Van Zant warned that officials implementing Common Core in Florida are “promoting as hard as they can any youth that is interested in the LGBT agenda.”

Their aim, Van Zant warned, was to “attract every one of your children to become as homosexual as they possibly can.” He then apologized to the crowd for having to be the bearer of bad news. “I really hate to bring you that news,” the Florida Republican said, “but you need to know.

You know I am not exactly a cheerleader for Common Core, I have some concerns.

However you have to be an incredibly under educated buffoon to think that education can alter a person's sexuality.

And speaking of education, exactly what kind of a sentence is "attract every one of your children to become as homosexual as they possibly can?"

It seems to me that this dipshit would benefit from furthering his education. And if that education turns him gay, then all the better.

Some (many) days it is so embarrassing and humiliating to be living in Florida.

It isn't just Florida, idiots reside everywhere. I think there should be an IQ minimum ( say, 130), and psych screening before someone can run for public office. Jesus.

  3. It’s just another old white man speaking nonsense.

I’m sure he’d like to push a woman or minority out there to take the hits (ever notice how they love shields?), but since he’s an actual state representative, he has to make the speech himself.

Some days I wonder where all these certifiable loons come from? I wonder if there was some sort of meeting where they were all handed out parts--like a play. The money men call them up and tell them that its their turn to act like a psychopath that week. Its tiring.

Marcus Bachman must be salivating at this news!! Common Core could "turn them gay" and Marcus and his team could get government grants to "Pray Away The Gay"!! Ol' Marcus is perfectly happy with his own gayness, it is other men that he worries about (yeah, right) I do not remember any females being enrolled in Marcus' program, do you? He concentrates on young men, hmm.

I just think it is so very funny that assholes like this think that the absolute worst thing someone can be threatened with is that your children will turn gay. It's even funnier that he has an audience who will shiver in fear of that very thing.

Pharmacy technician sees Obamacare working every day

If you want to see the Affordable Care Act (ACA) at work, stand behind a pharmacy counter. That’s what Desirae Clayborn does, and she’s seen nothing but positive experiences.

Clayborn is a pharmacy technician and is studying to be a pharmacist. She admits that when the ACA was first being introduced, customers were “freaking out” despite the pharmacy’s efforts to educate them.

“Before it even started, people just assumed it would be expensive. They were so terrified about the change,” she says. But Clayborn has seen their assumptions proven wrong.

Clearly the republicans have discovered that the insane/moron demographic is much, MUCH larger than anyone ever suspected and they are doing everything in their power to pander to it.

Petty tyrants at Georgia high school want to ban girl from graduation for making a science joke

...The award for this year’s petty tyrant graduation-related temper tantrum goes to the school officials at Mundy’s Mill High School in Clayton County, Georgia. The senior class vice-president, who was tapped to give a speech at graduation, is being threatened with a ban from her high school graduation for using this as her yearbook quote:

Former Heartthrob Turned Religious Nut Says Christians Will Win The War Against Gays (VIDEO)

...One such group that is stoking those flames is the Alliance Defending Freedom. In a somewhat slickly produced 30-minute infomercial, several one-sided stories are told about how the ADF and their cadre of Christian attorneys are standing up against school districts and universities and hospitals and anyone else who would dare to promote the ideals of civility and acceptance when they clearly run contrary to the bigoted beliefs of their brethren. Just so as you don’t forget it is an infomercial, between each story individual testimonials attest to their joy in giving so this war can be won and then you, the viewer, are hit up to make a recurring $19/month donation to help the ADF continue its crusade.

...Basically, she’s an idiot. A poor, persecuted idiot.

Watch the infomercial here, if you can stomach it:

These "cause and effect" arguments put forth by old white men with white hair somewhat amusing. I wonder what turned Van Zant into a full fledged uneducated bigoted closet case? "I hate to be the bearer of bad news", Got any studies or links to prove your point that being gay is bad in any way or unnatural?
