President Obama demonstrates that Republicans are becoming a punchline even outside of America.

Courtesy of Politicususa:

Part of what makes this a special evening for me is the presence of my family members who are here. My grandmother, Mama Sarah, who told me I had to come back to Kenya. And when she says you should do something, generally you have to do it. I’ve told this story before — the first time that I visited Kogelo, Auma and I and my brothers were there. Mama Sarah speaks Swahili and Luo, and I speak neither –and so Auma was serving as a translator. And I think about a half a day had passed before suddenly she turns to Auma and says something. And Auma starts laughing, and I say, what did she say? She says, he goes to Harvard; if he’s so smart, how come he can’t talk to his grandmother? Which was a good point.

My siblings are here, aunts, uncles. And so, tonight, I welcome all of them to a somewhat unusual Obama family reunion. I suspect that some of my critics back home are suggesting that I’m back here to look for my birth certificate. That is not the case.

Did you hear that laughter in response to that joke?

If your claim that President Obama was born in Kenya, is even uproariously funny to Kenyans, I think that is all you have to know about its validity.

And somewhat (But not really.) off topic, is Donald Trump still leading in the polls for the Republican nomination?

And here is his speech to the Kenyan people.

He covered so much (women's rights, genital mutilation, domestic abuse, corruption, confederate flag, LGBT rights, education of women and girls...) and they were so receptive, and they weren't easy subjects either, but he finds a way to convey huge ideas, and difficult subjects that is respectful, powerful and unflinching.

Love him and am dreading him leaving the presidency.

Stop treating women as second class citizens, that was President Obama’s message to the Kenyan community.the us leader said if Kenya is to progress, the female gender needs to be empowered just as the male gender is.

My view from the other side of the world is that the only difference between the US and other Third World countries is that the US is white.

Poor people dying in the streets, the mentally deranged running all over the place with loaded weapons gunning strangers down at will, corrupt politicians, a corrupt political process, oil interests polluting everything in sight, an obsession with war.... am I referring to [insert name of African country] or to the US?

None of the above happens in civilised countries.

Donald Trump is right about one thing: John McCain is no hero to have cynically and deliberately infected his country with the Sarah Palin virus that has given it Donald Trump.

You haven't been in a truly third world country lately have you? How about one such as India where there is literally human feces in the street and the bodies of both dead people and animals float in the same water where people bathe and wash their clothes. America is hardly third world, a bit uncivilized at times, at least some people and some regions, but at least we have infrastructure that is missing in all third world nations.

India is only one country in the Third World, and not all of it is as you describe, in fact less and less of it as tech and comms jobs move to India by the millions.

We have infrastructure, but a lot of it is 100 years old, and the GOP refuses to lift one finger to start fixing it before we ARE India. What do you think will happen when the sewer systems decay to the point that they all need to be fixed at once? Cities are stressed by the GOP Governors who refuse to allow revenue to come in, under the guise of 'small government.' What will happen with the next big bridge collapse and deaths? You can bet they will all blame Obama, and take zero responsibility of blocking the highway bills and the infrastructure bills. The party of 'jobs' believes in poverty for all but themselves. And that, dear, can make us Third World quite quickly if don't get them out.

  4. The Birthers still haven't explained how a Muslim knows all the words to Amazing Grace and committed the blasphemy of leading the congregation in the singing of it in a Christian Church.

Not to mention the fact that he he drinks alcohol, eats pork, owns two dogs, doesn't pray 5x each day, and attended Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago.

It's amazing how the same people can accuse him of being a secret Muslim and in the next breath berate him for attending church services led by Reverend Jeremiah Wright.

The birthers are right tho. No one who is born in a foreign country and has a foreign national for a father, even if their mother is a US Citizen should ever be allowed to b president. Tough luck, Ted Cruz.

And yet, the Birfers were fighting hard for the right of Arnold Schwarzenegger to run for President; a man who NO DOUBT ABOUT IT was not born in the USA and had no ties whatsoever to the USA until he moved here as an adult. Go figure.

Well Yes... T-Rump is still leading the polls for the Republican nomination...

So it looks like they still don't have a viable candidate for 2016...

Oh, what fun this is to watch as to the Republican problems! They are in big trouble and have zero clue how to fix it! They have horrible candidates i.e. clown car to top it off!

I see President Hillary Clinton and another eight years of a Democrat in office. Yea!!!

Yep. Bigger margin than ever. The party has embraced Teh Crayzee as never before. Expect Trump to start ranting about the birth certificate again any day now.

I seriously doubt the Republican party is embracing Ted Cruz! The guy is almost worse and more slimy than Trump ever thought of being!

I think Trump will shut up about Obama's birth certificate and transcripts. He is scared to show his own. Remember when he gave the media his little "birth" certificate that the nurses gave his mother in hospital?

I really think he'll just shut up.

Remember when The Donald sent his detectives to Hawaii to prove that there was no birth certificate for President Obama?

Trump claimed that his detectives had the goods. Are the detectives still in Hawaii looking for the goods? After all, I would have expected The Donald to have told us the results.

Funny how those claims by Trump just sort of disappeared without another word.

Love that President Obama! Especially happy to see the turnout for him on this recent trip. He needs the 'positive' input which is so sorely lacking in the USA - and, it's not his fault.

He is loved and respected throughout the world and will go down in history as one of our best POTUS!

Also, know he and First Lady Michelle will be doing wonderful things for our country and world in future years!

I admire his ability to speak openly about issues that he really cares about, even in his father's homeland, with the perfect balance of severity and levity, all the while, showing the world the respect his ancestors have for all he's achieved.
Yeah, The Donald IS in the lead. but that's not a bad thing for the Democrats. Not bad at all!!!

Imagine if Trump wasn't getting all the press and you had to look at Ted Cruz's puss every night and listen to his pomposity. Trump is easy to ignore because he has been telling the world he's terrific for so many decades. To me he's an 80s TV character with a big mouth, married to Ivana the bottle blonde with the cheap eyebrows.

I watched Obama's entire speech in the middle of the night and it was great. He was SO enthusiastic. Except for a few parts he spoke of like genital mutilation on girls and education for girls it could well have also applied to America! I love that man!
